Chapter 15 How cant his be
Kagome just shook as she hugged Inuyasha, the fear of the answer he would give her scaring her more than anything they had ever faced.
"Kagome." Was all she heard Inuyasha say and then she felt something wet falling on her head.
Kagome slowly opened her eyes and hesitantly looked up see Inuyasha crying.
The sunset light pouring into their room his tears look almost like falling light.
"Inuyasha what is wrong?" Kagome asked expecting anger instead of tears.
"Kagome I cannot believe this." Inuyasha said as more tears fall out of his eyes.
sniff"I know I am so..." Kagome said but was stopped by Inuyasha's kiss.
Inuyasha stopped the kiss and hugged Kagome with a newfound gentleness.
Kagome just stayed intertwined in his arms, shock, happiness and confusion being her only emotions.
"Do not be sorry Kagome for this event couldn't be more opposite of bad. I am just so happy Kagome." Inuyasha said and was happy to feel her hug him back.
Inuyasha looked at Kagomes face, which now adorned tears.
"Kagome are you ok?" Inuyasha asked going into worried mode.
"Of course Inuyasha I am just happy, I was so worried, I thought that you would hate me for this for you told Sesshomaru that this couldn't be a worse time to have a pup." Kagome said looking down.
"Kagome it is ok, we will work it out, but I am just so happy." Inuyasha said pulling her into a hug.
"Me too, Inuyasha I don't want to leave you." Kagome said looking into Inuyasha's eyes.
"Kagome, I know I don't want to leave you either, but Kagome we have to do this now to make the world safer for you and our pup." Inuyasha said resting a hand on Kagomes stomach.
"I know." Kagome said as she laid a hand over his.
"Sango and Rin said that they would stay with me back at the castle, since you need most of your power to battle Naraku. Just promise me you will come back alive." Kagome said as she twisted so that she could see Inuyasha's face.
"I wouldn't think of doing anything else, for anything." Inuyasha said and then kissed her quickly.
"Hey, you knew about the pup when I found you outside earlier right?" Inuyasha asked.
"Yes, the doctor came in and said that my scent was one with pup unlike Rins, I heard you after and then I went outside and went in the... uhoo!" Kagome said as she jumped from Inuyasha's arms and went for the door.
"Kagome you were in a tree up in the air when you were pregnant do you relies how dangerous that was, come back here!" Inuyasha said following her out of the door.
"YIPES!" Kagome said as she ran down the hall and found Sango.
"Sango help!" Kagome said as she ducked behind her.
"Kagome whats wrong?" Sango asked as she looked at her friend who was out of breath and a small smile on her face.
"Inuyasha's a little well mad." Kagome said laughing nervously as she heard Inuyasha.
"KAGOME! GET BACK HERE!" Inuyasha bellowed from across the hall.
"Come on Kagome." Sango said as she winked to Kagome and then brought her insider her room.
Inuyasha was by the door in a flash and went inside the room to find it empty.
"Kagome, where are you?" Inuyasha said with a smile.
Inuyasha followed her scent to a wall with nothing on it.
Inuyasha felt the wall and found it to be solid.
"Ok?" He said and turned around to try to figure out where they went.
Just then, the wall opened and Kagome jumped onto Inuyasha's back.
"Hello." She said laughing a little.
"Well hello to you to, now you aren't going to run like that anymore are you?" He said with a smile.
"Hehe, I don't know I enjoyed it, I missed our fights." Kagome said with a smile.
"Aww, look how cute you two are." Sango said laughing.
They shot her death glares.
"Ha-ha, so why don't we work out that plan now!" Sango said laughing and ran out the door.
They smiled and laughed.
"Kagome just promise me that you won't do anything like that again, I mean you could have fallen out of the tree and hurt yourself or the pup." Inuyasha said and rubbed her stomach.
"I wont, come on everyone is probably wondering what happened with all the noise we made, you are feeling ok aren't you, you didn't hurt yourself right." Inuyasha said looking her over in a protective manner.
'This is going to be a long nine months, err I mean eight months.' Kagome thought as she assured Inuyasha she was fine and they walked out the door hand in hand.
The next day with Kagome and Inuyasha...
Word had come from the western land spies that the Naraku's forces were only a day away, they were moving faster than expected.
This meant that they had to leave now or else they would get to them before the westerners could defend themselves.
Kagome was dressed in a pink kimono with small white circles with small flowers and tree branches in black thread, and on the pink part silver flowers, trees, and little rivers adorn it. Her obey sash in a silver material. Her hair down in its usual manner. The only expression on her face was worry and concern.
"It'll be ok Kagome don't worry." Inuyasha said hugging her before sitting on the bed with her in his arms.
"I just can't stand the losing you especially right now." Kagome said wrapping her arms around her stomach.
"Don't worry I would never leave you. Believe in me ok?" He asked wrapping around her.
"I do and I always will." Kagome said happily.
A knock on the door...
"Come in." Inuyasha said still holding onto Kagome.
Sesshomaru came in a small smile on his face, his hair all wavy with lines in his hair.
"So I see Rin finally let you take out the braids and bows?" Inuyasha said laughing.
"Yes and thanks to you I had to control of the troops while trying to keep them from laughing!" Sesshomaru said glaring at his brother
"Well it is time to start moving out are you ready?" Sesshomaru asked trying to smooth out some of his hair.
"Yeah, come on Kagome." Inuyasha said removing her from his lap and grabbing her hand as they walked down the long castle halls and stairs to the outside.
They went to the front of the group, the guards saluting as they walked past.
They got to the front, Sesshomaru mounted his hoarse, and Inuyasha mounted his.
"Come back alive ok." Kagome said winking.
"Of course, keep safe, I love Kagome. Sango Rin?" Inuyasha said and the girls appeared from behind her.
Kagome let go of his hand reluctantly and a tear fell down her cheek.
"Alright troops move out!" Inuyasha screamed and they were off.
Kagome just stood there surprised as she saw Inuyasha ride off in charge off all those demons.
"Kagome come on we need to get you inside the castle, we have to make sure no one gets to you." Sango said and put a hand on her shoulder.
"I know but do we have to go?" Kagome said as she watched the troops salute as they past the queens.
"Kagome, come on we can all have lunch and do anything you like we can even have oden!" Sango said knowing her friends one weakness.
"Unfair. Ok let us go." Kagome said taking one last look and walking towards the dinning hall.
"Queen Kagome, Princess Rin, Lady Sango, what would you like for lunch?" The cook Ayame said with a smile.
"Hello Ayame, we will have three oden's please!" Kagome said with a smile.
"Kagome's fav coming right up!" Ayame said smiling.
They laughed happily, as Ayame smiled and went into the kitchen.
"So what do you two ladies want to do today?" Sango said with a smile as she put down her boomerang.
"Ah, how about we go get our nails and hair done?" Sango said a smile on her face.
"Oi, I should never have given you guys the ingredients to nail polish and hair care products." Kagome said laughing happily.
"I want pink nails!" Rin said smiling.
"Here you go, four oden's." Ayame said taking off her apron and handing them out.
"But there are only three of us?" Sango said in a quizzical expression on her face.
"What there are only three people who I have to cook for tonight and I am supposed to just stand there in the kitchen board?" Ayame said smiling.
"That and I told her that she should hang out with us." Kagome said laughing.
"Yeah that to." Ayame said laughing.
Two days from then...
Kagome stair at her reflection in the vanity.
'I can't believe all that has happened it has been almost three years since I first met Inuyasha and my life changed forever. I just wish that he were here right now instead of having to leave me. I know it is just to protect me and our child but I can't help missing him.' Kagome thought as she brushed her hair.
'Why am I brushing my hair before bed?' Kagome thought and laughed.
"You make me do strange things my love." Kagome said thinking about Inuyasha.
Kagome got up from her vanity her night kimono falling to the floor.
'Who would ever guess I Kagome Higurashi, normal high school student would turn out to become a princess of a quarter of Japan in the feudal era.' Kagome thought when an explosion interrupted her thoughts.
"What?" Kagome said as she opened her balcony and looked out into the night sky.
There were lights coming from the village beyond the forest.
"That's fire what is the village doing on fire?" Kagome thought as she rushed in and got dressed in one of her red kimono with gold dots going in a wind pattern with her fire rat kimono under the showy one.
Kagome left her hair down when there was a knock on the door.
Kagome opened it consciously and found it to be Sango dressed in battle outfit with Rin in one of her kimono
"Whats going on there are fires going on in the village." Kagome asked as she fixed her obi.
"We are under attack." Sango said bluntly.
"What does that mean, did our side lose?" Kagome asked worriedly.
"No this is only about half of the arm. Which means that they spilt up into two groups, this group must have come around the others to come in to attack us undetected. Kagome they are here to kill everyone now come on we must get you two into a secure location!" Sango said to both Rin and Kagome.
Kagome shut the door and was given some special powder.
"What is this?" Kagome asked.
"Special powder it makes you has no scent." Sango said dumping some of the powder on.
Kagome and Rin did the same.
"Come on." Sango said and they went up to the top floor right before the roof.
Sango went over to the painting and turned it to the left once and the right three times and then let go making the painting spin three times before she stopped it upright just like it had been before.
A door opened to the left of them from the wall.
"How exactly did you find this?" Kagome asked as she ran down the passageway after Sango.
"I was board out of my head for five weeks what do you think I was doing?" Sango said as she sealed the passageway.
They ran down the long passageway until they arrived in a room where there was a blue crystal, a red crystal, and a green crystal for the forms of light.
"What room is this?" Kagome asked.
"Well when I found this place Meganu was putting the blue crystal back, she called this the protect room. For this is the place where the four crystals are protected. The blue jewel of ice and water Meganu's jewel, the northern power jewel. The red jewel of fire and heat, Sawako's jewel, the southern power jewel. The green jewel of elements and the mystery power the westerners hold Inuyasha's jewel, the western power jewel. Finally the jewel that is missing, the eastern crystal, the jewel of strength and wind, Koga's jewel the power of the east." Sango said going to the empty space where the jewel was.
"Why wasn't it here?" Rin asked looking at the empty space.
"The four kingdoms have their own power safe; they mostly keep to themselves and hardly ever stay with each other let alone give each other their powers. The reason they have the jewels here is so that we can have the powers join to have a more powerful force to defeat Naraku's force." Sango said as she opened a door that was adjacent to the walled.
"What is this room?" Kagome asked as she followed Sango.
The room was a small version of a royal bedroom with a bathroom and small fridge.
"It has a huge tatami, a small bathroom and a fridge it is sound proof so we should be able to live here for a couple of days but not much more." Sango said sitting down on the tatami.
Kagome and Rin nodded and sat down next to her.
"Well I am going to go see if I can help up there." Sango said putting on her mask.
"What Sango you can't leave!" Rin said grabbing onto her shoulder.
"I have to, they need help. I can't let them get to you." Sango said and knocked Rin back.
"Please forgive me Rin." Sango said and ran away.
"Sango!" Kagome called and tried to chase after her but got to the top only after the door was shut tight.
"Kagome come on she will be alright, she has one of the walkie-talkies!" Rin said holding up one of the walkie-talkies.
"Well I guess if we can still keep contact it will be ok." Kagome said and then started to walk down with Rin behind her when the door opened and Ayame fell down on Rin.
"Ah!" Both women said as the door shut after.
"Ayame!" Kagome said hugging the young girl.
"Kagome, Rin, I was so worried." Ayame said hugging both making sure to hug Kagome lightly.
"Ayame how did you get here?" Kagome asked.
"Well there is a huge army of demons attacking in the lower floors so I ran up here and bumped into Sango she put some stuff on me, grabbed me and threw me in here." Ayame said sitting down.
"Come on lets go into the other room." Rin said as they walked down the long path, past the jewels after some explaining and finally to small living room.
"Kagome how are you feeling?" Ayame asked as she got something out of a sack that she had been caring.
"Fine why?" Kagome asked sitting down on the tatami.
"Here you are going to need this." Ayame said handing her a bottle of vitamin looking pills.
"What are these Ayame?" Kagome ask sniffing them only to get no scent.
"They are pills for you to eat twice a day, I have been putting them in your food but I don't think I can put them in anymore. They are to help keep down the pregnancy signs without hurting the pups for the demon children might hurt your human body if you do not take them. Inuyasha's mother had to take them to." Ayame said putting her pack in the corner of the small room.
"Thank you." Kagome said going into the small frigid and getting some water.
"AH!" They heard from the walkie-talkie.
Inuyasha slashed another demon in half.
'That must have been the hundredth demon I have killed since sunrise, why is not there more?' Inuyasha thought and scaled a hill and looked down.
Inuyasha went back to check with Miroku and he found that their numbers were fewer than what they thought.
"Sesshomaru, did you find something weird here?" Inuyasha asked as he fought along side his brother.
"You mean about their numbers?" Sesshomaru asked.
"Yeah, what do you think Naraku is planning I haven't even seen him?" Inuyasha said killing some more demons.
"This is most defiantly not the army that the spy described to me, he told me it was at least a quarter of Naraku's full army which has to be like fifty thousand. This can only be twenty thousand at best. We only have the western army of sixty seven thousand here because of t he amount of Naraku's army I was told. This is most defiantly strange. It is like half of them are missing." Sesshomaru said thinking.
"No..." Sesshomaru said the answer hitting him.
"What is wrong?" Miroku asked coming up to the solemn brothers.
"Sesshomaru?" Inuyasha asked.
"It took one day for this army to get to the castle, but if they split in half, this half as a decoy, the other half would take a turn and come around us so that we would not catch them and they could attack the castle without us knowing!" Sesshomaru said and turned to the direction of the village.
"Inuyasha, come on we are going back, Miroku get the army defeat this half and come back once you are done we have to go save them!" Sesshomaru said not having enough time to get anyone else.
Kagome ran over to the walkie-talkie and pressed talk.
"Sango, sango are you ok?" She asked.
"Kagome don't give away your location, don't worry about AH!" Sango said as she was hit again by another demon.
"Sango, Sango!" Kagome screamed but got no answer.
The line went dead.
"No, Sango!" Kagome said as she ran up the stairs and blew open the door with her priestess powers.
"Kagome stop!" Rin and Ayame screamed as they tried to grab Kagome but she stopped them with her priestess powers.
"No if she uses too much of her miko energy, she is already to week from her powers awakening, she needs at least one more month before she is totally back to normal. At this rate she is going to kill herself." Ayame said trying to get Kagome but kept being hit.
"Sango, hang on I'll get you!" Kagome screamed as she ran down the stairs.
"Kagome please stop, you are going to hurt yourself and the baby could you do that to Inuyasha or yourself?" Rin asked.
"Sango has saved me tones of times I owe her for this." Kagome said her eyes glowing bright purple.
"Kagome she wouldn't want you to kill yourself!" Rin said but they had already arrived on the first floor.
Ayame jumped in front of Kagome and killed the demons that were about to kill her.
"Sango!" Kagome said as she runs down the hall to where she heard her scream which was the ballroom.
Kagome threw open the door and found Sango all bloody laying on the floor in the middle of the barely lit ballroom.
Rin and Ayame stood next to her and gasped.
"Sango!" Rin said running to her along with Kagome and Ayame.
"Watch out, don't let Naraku get you." Sango said as she used some of her last strength.
"Naraku is here?" Ayame said flexing her claws and growling.
"I knew that you lady's couldn't stay away for long with your friend in danger. It was lucky I had her under my power." Naraku said.
"What are you talking about?" Kagome asked as she looked at the heavily breathing Sango who was resting her head on Rin's lap.
"It was after Dr. Washu came to you Kagome, Naraku came out of the shadows and put a sacred jewel in my ankle. He had been controlling me ever since. He knows every inch of this castle." Sango said pointing to her bloody ankle.
"Yes and thanks to the jewel I now have the upper hand, now Kagome come here." Naraku said as he emerged from the shadows.
"Kagome he doesn't know, don't let him." Sango whispered so only the girls could hear.
"No!" Kagome said as she moved behind Ayame.
"You will never get Queen Kagome." Ayame said standing in front of Kagome.
"Now, now little Ayame we don't want you to get hurt!" Naraku said as he pointed for Kagura to come out and get her.
Kagura blew her back and Ayame used her powers to hold her back.
She did a back flip and drew her sword.
"Come you worthless demon and fight me!" Kagura said and started to fight Ayame.
"Now Kagome I need you to give me the jewel." Naraku said and placed a hand over where the jewel is.
Kagome gulped and turned pale.
"Get away from her!" Rin said putting Sango down gently and putting herself in front of Kagome.
"You are the princess of this land aren't you, Sesshomaru's mate." Naraku said grabbing Rin's throat.
"AH!" Rin said trying to pry Naraku's hand off her to no avail.
"No please stop!" Kagome said tears starting to fall from her eyes.
"No Kagome you must not fall, everyone has worked to hard for you to give up now." Rin said breathing hard as her airway shut off.
"No Rin I can't let you die Sesshomaru would be so upset I cant." Kagome said standing up shakily and looking Naraku dead in the eyes.
He let Rin go and she gasped and held her neck.
"Good girl Kagome now stays still." Naraku said as he walked towards her a knife in his hands.
Kagomes eyes went wide and she gulped.
"It will all be over soon." Naraku said as he put a knife up against her neck.
"Now give me the sacred jewel, I know that only you can get the sacred jewel out of your body for Midoriko put a spell that not even I can counter.
"Never." Kagome said in a tone that was unwavered.
"Insolent!" Naraku said as he hit her into the wall.
Kagome put a shield around her stomach as much as she could.
"No Kagome." Sango said as she stood up and tried to stab Naraku only to have him grab her throat and smile at her.
"You shall all meet again in hell." Naraku said as he hit her hard on the neck knocking her out and threw her against the wall.
Kagome stood up and placed a hand over the jewel.
'What do I do, I cannot give him the jewel it is my lifeline, if I do not he may kill the baby, but if I do I will die anyway. If I do not help then all of my friends will be killed. They may be the last friends or family I will ever have in this era, I cannot lose them. Is there no way to win?' Kagome thought as she looked up to see Rin trying to help fight Naraku.
Kagome looked out one of the huge glass windows and saw the fires of the village; the gunshots ringing threw her head, the scent of fresh blood going threw her nose.
Kagome looked back to Naraku who had just stabbed Rin in the leg.
Her eyes lighted up, the pain of her own body forgotten.
"I will not let you hurt anyone I care about anymore." Kagome said standing up and walking towards Naraku a neutral look on her face.
"Good Kagome now give me the jewel." Naraku said holding out his hand.
Kagome raised her hand and used a blast of her power to send Naraku flying into the wall.
"Kagome please stop!" Rin said trying to stop the young miko only to have the miko to act as if she never even heard her.
"I will not allow my weakness to cause anyone I care about pain anymore Naraku." Kagome said in an unwavered tone.
Naraku stood up and took off his baboon pelt.
"Insolent wench, you will die now!" Naraku said raising a hand to come at her.
Kagome looked at him with the neutral expression.
It grazed her arm and she never acted as if she felt it.
The kimono sleeve fell to the floor and blood pored down her arm.
Kagome just kept looking at him with a neutral expression and kept walking towards him.
"Today Naraku the only one dieing is you." Kagome said as she raised a hand and blasted him again only to have him cut her leg, the bottom right of the kimono part falling and the blood start to come from her leg.
'Why is she acting like this, Kagome has never done this not even in the worst of times, what could have happened to her to make her act like this. I have to save her.' Sango thought trying to get off the ground only to have Rin crawl over to her.
"Sango you are alright, we have to stop Kagome, she wont stop no matter what I do." Rin said looking at her friend who just kept getting hit and not even care.
"Something is wrong; Kagome is under some kind of control she has never acted like this before." Sango said standing up shakily as her wounds reopen.
Rin stood up to her wounds doing the same.
"We cannot let her die, or kill the child no matter what. Wait there is something different about Kagome for she has more power. The jewel must be conflicting her brain making her think differently. Come on Rin we have to stop her!" Sango said starting to run towards Kagome slowly Rin right behind her.
Kagome now had a sleeveless Kimono and a slash mark on her chest not to deep. The bottom of her kimono only went to her knees.
Kagome just kept walking towards Naraku if he hit her down she just got up again and started walking towards her.
The sacred jewel glowed brightly within her.
"Take this!" Naraku said picking her up and throwing her against the wall.
Kagome stood up slowly but then saw him pick up Sango and Rin in his hands.
"Come to save your little friend, well its to late!" Naraku said taking them and was about to slash their throats when an arrow of pure energy came fling at him.
Naraku dropped the girl's and they feel to the ground not moving.
"You!" Naraku said looking at Kagome who let the bow of pure energy disappear.
"I told you I will protect my friends, they will not suffer because of my weaknesses." Kagome said starting to walk over to him slowly because of her injuries.
"Come here Kagome." Naraku said grabbing her.
"Ah!" Kagome said as the tentacle came up from behind her and wrapped around her waist.
"No the pup." Kagome said snapping back into reality.
"What did you say?" Naraku said
Kagome could not get her arms to get free, she tried to get free but she was to exhausted in power and could not break free or conjure up one more blast of power.
Naraku brought her over and found he scent to be one with pup.
"So you are carrying the pup of that reached dog demon. Tsk, tsk, you will have to pay for that!" Naraku said squeezing tighter.
'There is no one left, everyone is dead, Inuyasha is to far away and might even be dead right now, Sango and Rin are dead, and I might as well join them for I have nothing left to fight with or to live for.' Kagome thought as the sacred jewel glow began to die down into a faint light.
Once Naraku thought that she was gone, he dropped her.
"Kagome!" Inuyasha screamed as he saw he scene before him.
She fell to the ground and bounced two times before she came to rest her head down facing the door where Inuyasha was standing.
"Welcome Inuyasha..." A figure said from behind him with long black hair, red eyes, red eye shadow and an evil smirk on his face.
