Disclaimer: I don't own the lovely Elizabeth Weir nor anything else to do with Stargate Atlantis.

Note: Writing this based on limited knowledge of season 2 ep 'Intruder'.

Simon watched Elizabeth from the doorway as she packed up her remaining items. In light of what Simon had just told her Elizabeth thought it best to stay at the SGC, and Simon didn't object.

He knew she was upset; understandably she was a little pissed.

When Simon told her, he didn't know what reaction he expected, maybe he was expecting her to be more emotional then she was, but she wasn't.

All she did was extinguish the candle, then pick up the cell phone and make a phone call, which involved a hushed tone.

Simon just watched her. He still loved this woman, who couldn't love her, but he couldn't deal with knowing that she was out there risking her life and despite what she said, she was the adventurer. He knew that out there, facing God knows what, that he wouldn't be able to handle it and he didn't want to slow her down, it wasn't fair.

Simon assumed it was a driver from the SGC, it's only when she opened the door and walked out to the man that he realised that maybe he was doing the right thing, letting her go, because the look that past between Elizabeth and this man was something he'd never had with Elizabeth.

Simon heard her say his name softly, 'John', he didn't want to listen to the rest of the conversation, he didn't want to intrude.

He watched as 'John' took her bags out to the car and put them into the trunk.

Elizabeth left the doorway and slowly walked over to where Simon was sitting.

He wasn't expecting her to ask him to reconsider, he knew her to well, and she didn't.

"I hope you will be very happy Simon. Honestly"

Then she turned away and left the house for the final time.

Simon walked over to the window and looked at her for a moment as she met 'John'; they spoke for a moment before he opened the door for her and she stepped into the car.

Simon watched as 'John' got into the car and then as the two of them drove away.

A single tear fell from Simon's eye as the car disappeared down the driveway.

She didn't have to know that he lied.
