The Coming of Spring
TeapotpotA/N: Well, this is just a short little something I came up with after listening to 'Fields of Hope' by Tanaka Rie. My sister wrote this really sad poem a while ago about a girl walking through a field of flowers and remembering what everything looked like, because she's actually blind. It made me cry back then, and offered lots of inspiration for this piece, even if the themes are different. Besides, I like flowers, I like sunshine, and I like SasuSaku. Add them all together and I got this. Enjoy!

They were there again, in that field of flowers. The sun shone with a quiet warmth, and everything was peaceful. A gentle breeze happily fluttered through the daffodils, tickling their petals and laughing sweetly.
Sasuke was happy too.
Sakura had taken cooking in the last few weeks. She seemed to be immersed in her book, The Art of Tomatoes. She was leaning lightly on his shoulder, and he found that he didn't mind. Suddenly, Sakura shut her book and moved so that she was sitting in front of him. Taking his hands and looking happily into his eyes, Sakura said, "Sasuke, do you know what happens when snow melts?"
He stared at her in surprise. Trick question? Probably. He decided to play along anyway. "It becomes water, doesn't it?"
Laughing, she stood up and twirled amidst the flowers, her white sundress billowing gently as she spun. Stopping, Sakura smiled and spread her arms out, "No, no. It becomes spring of course!"
Sasuke couldn't help it. He smiled again. She was so bright, unfazed by cold glances and mistreatment. And, against his original intentions, she was slowly becoming as necessary to him as breathing.
He was falling in love.
He loved her for bringing him back. He loved her for never giving up on him. He loved the fact that she loved him back, with a love that was true and strong.
Sitting back down beside him, Sakura sighed happily and leaned on his shoulder once again, "I think spring has come to Konoha at a good time. And I think that it has come to us in more ways than one."
After a moment of consideration, Sasuke realized what she meant. Through the icy winters of their relationship, spring had at last made its appearance. Things were getting better. Smiling, he wrapped his arms around her and said, "Aa. I think your right."
And so, they stayed in that field of flowers, lost in the wonders of spring. Lost in the wonders of happiness. Yet at the same time, they had finally found something real and wonderful – Love.

A/N: Once again, I had trouble with emotions. -sigh- I guess it's good that I finished, at least. But in regards to the one-shot, this is pretty much my own preferred future for this rather sad pair. I mean, if you think about it, Sakura really loves Sasuke. It may have started as an obsession, but it's grown into something more. And Sasuke could totally come to love her back. I hope that in the very end of Naruto, Sasuke realizes that Sakura never, ever gave up on him, and supported him throughout everything he did. By finally seeing her undying faith, he would become very thankful and start to see her as an actual person. By getting to know her, Sasuke would eventually fall in love.
… at least, I hope so. Too bad Sasuke and Sakura have it kinda sad. Oh well. BY THE WAY! I love Fruits Basket and that line Tohru said about spring and all. So, since it's such a beautiful line, I borrowed it to go with Sakura since she's got the whole spring thing going on… Basically, I wasn't smart enough to come up with my own line and I borrowed one from Fruits Basket. Thanks for reading and review if you wish! -cough cough-
