Disclaimer: I don't own Jimmy Neutron or any related characters.
The line between love and insanity is very thin. We do crazy things when we are in love. Tests show that the brain of a man in love and a man that is insane are eerily similar. But where is that line drawn? When does an act change from one of love to one of lunacy?
Cindy Vortex was driving home from the mall. She had just gotten her license a few days ago and was still very excited about being able to drive. It was only a few days until Christmas, and she had just finished her shopping. It was snowing out. When she had left her house it had been a peaceful flurry, but now it was on the verge of being a blizzard.
Jimmy Neutron was walking down the sidewalk, taking a sip from his thermos of coffee. He had set out towards Retroville Park to gather some frozen plants for an experiment. He had almost decided that the weather was too bad totravel in, be he chose to go anyway.
Cindy put her windshield wipers on high. She could barely see anything. She would have pulled over, but she didn't even know where the edge of the road was. She focused on the road and kept on slowly driving. It was then that she approached the Retroville Bridge.
Jimmy was walking slower now. He was about to give up and head back home when he saw a car coming over the bridge. He was surprised to see anyone else out in this weather.
Cindy accidentally hit a patch of ice. She tried to control the car, but it slammed into the edge of the bridge.
"Oh my god!" Jimmy shouted as he saw the car slam into the bridge's edge and plummet into the river below. He ran as fast as he could to the bridge and looked at the car that was now beneath him. He thought that the car looked familiar. He dropped his coffee and jumped into the water below.
Cindy was desperately trying to undo her seatbelt when water came rushing in. She couldn't believe how cold the water was.
Jimmy tried to ignore the sharp pain that the freezing water sent into him. He continued to dive downward. He was about halfway to the car when he saw the blonde haired girl thrashing around. Cindy!
I should mention that at this point Jimmy had enough air to return to the surface and swim to shore. If he continued down towards Cindy he could unbuckle her, but he might not have enough time to return to the surface.
All of those thoughts swam through Jimmy's mind while he swam down towards Cindy. He reached her in a few seconds. Their eyes briefly connected as their lungs began to empty. Jimmy calmly grabbed her seat belt and tried to unbuckle it. When it didn't give Jimmy got more frantic and began tearing at it. It was no use, the seatbelt was jammed.
Cindy pointed upwards. She knew that she was a goner, but she wanted Jimmy to swim to safety. Jimmy looked up towards the surface, then at Cindy's face. He grabbed her hand and squeezed it.
As Jimmy's last few seconds of air were used up he stared at Cindy's face. Her eyes slowly closed and her body went limp. Jimmy brought her hand to his mouth and kissed it, then gave it one last squeeze as everything went dark.
Some would say that Jimmy's actions were insane, suicidal. After failing to unbuckle her seat belt he could have swam towards the surface. But her chose to stay with her and die. Dumb, people called him.
Others say that it was Jimmy's only option. For is life without the one you love most even worth living? Some people argued that this was the case.
Was Jimmy in love or insane? I'll let you decide.
