Prologue: Fight to Survive

Bang! Clang! Slash!

The sounds of intense battle was numbing to Lie Ren and Nora Valkyrie who were fighting vehemently on the frontlines against the Grimm. The military around them shooting and clashing with the beasts fending off the invasion of Beacon and Vale. The two worked in tandem using years of teamwork and skill to cut and smash through the impeding enemy.

"There's so many of them" heaved Nora as she batted another Beowolf away instantly killing it.

"We must hold our ground, we can't let any of them through!" Ren shouts as he guns down an Ursa then quickly turns thrusting the bladed part of his weapon into the skull of a Beowolf.

"We got Griffons!" Shouted a soldier taking aim towards the sky. The Griffons proceeded to fly downwards meeting headon against the soldiers. Cries of pain was met from both men and beast alike, soldiers falling on the field while the black creatures of the night wisps away into nothingness.

This shocked the teens seeing how quickly the tides were turning, the number of Grimm were just too overwhelming and their numbers were decreasing at a regrettably alarming rate. Suddenly most of the Grimm were lifted up by an unseen force and then blown away hundreds of feet back. They turned to see Glynda Goodwitch standing tall with a determined glare.

"Do not lose face yet children, as long as we are here they will not get through." Glynda states as Qrow Branwen and James Ironwood walks up right beside her.

"Well said Glynda." James inputs readying his magnum. "Soldiers mount your stations, we have a city to protect and we will fight tooth and nail to see through our victory!" He yells getting morale up for the next wave of these abominations.

Qrow looks towards Ren and Nora, "Get behind us and watch our six!" bringing out his own weapon into its sword form, "We'll take over while you catch your breaths." They nodded getting ready for the inevitable battle ahead.

Blake Belladonna's heart was torn as she took out a White Fang member. "Why did it have to be this way?" She thought while dodging a sword swipe then proceeded to spin kick the perpetrator into a wall cracking it. She looked to her side to see her partner Yang Xiao Long bashing through White Fang members with her gauntlets in a seething rage.

"Why are you attacking us?!" Yang shouted as she punched another Faunus in the face breaking their nose and knocking them out. "You're killing innocent people!" She cried out as her eyes flickered red. Yang heaved as she prepared to fight on more not letting a little exhaustion stop her from defending her home.

"Brothers, sisters! You're fighting on the side of Grimm! Wasn't our purpose not too be seen as monsters?! Please see reason!" Blake cried out in hopes of getting them to see reason. Some looked down deep in thought but others simply glared readying their weapons to attack.

Blake and Yang exchanged a look, an unspoken conversation, nodding they went for the offensive approach. Blake threw her weapon Gambol Shroud's sheath towards Yang ribbon attached, catching it Yang proceeds to start firing her gauntlets behind her picking up momentum creating what looked like a little tornado with Blake in the center turning and spinning Yang in beat. The surrounding Faunus were too slow to get away as the Yang twister pummeled them through. Slowing down they stared at the unconscious bodies of the White Fang, one in anger the other in sadness.

"Yang I'm so-" Blake attempts to say but was cutoff by Yang giving her a sympathetic look.

"Stop it's not your fault, they chose this path and you left it long ago. I'm just glad you're here by my side defending our home from them." Yang states not letting Blake blame herself on this.

"Bu-" Once again she was cutoff however this time the voice made her eyes widen in horror.

"Blakey Blakey Blakey. What am I gonna do with ya.."

Ruby Rose was slicing through Grimm like butter with her weapon Crescent Rose. The recoil of her sniper/scythe hybrid allowed such ease with each shot given laying each Grimm that came her way to waste. Looking over she watched as her partner Weiss Schnee and fellow leader Jaune Arc work in tandem against the creatures of dark. Weiss was using her semblance glyphs for mid to long range attacks while Jaune was taking out any Grimm close up protecting her.

"Where's your team at?" Ruby asks since he was currently here in the courtyard by himself.

"Ren and Nora are at the frontlines and Pyrrha…" he trailed off thinking back where they left off, their kiss still fresh in his mind.

"Where is Pyrrha?" Weiss asks growing very concerned at Jaune's facial expression.

Before he can answer a huge explosion rang about in the tower behind them causing it to shake violently and the courtyard to rumble. Zipping towards Jaune appearing beside him and Weiss Ruby looked right at him. "Is she up there?"

He looked down nodding confirming her question. "I was tasked to defend this area which is why I was alone when you two showed up." He answered with mixed emotions on his face. "She's with Ozpin and whatever they're doing is supposed to make her stronger and help the situation." Another explosion went off, this time nearing the top.

"Well it seems they may need help but with it being all the way up there I'm the fastest to reach it, Weiss do you think you can use your glyphs to boost me up?" Ruby asks determination in her voice.

"Yes but-" she goes to say however she was cutoff by Ruby's stare. "Okay but we have to make it quick. There's more Grimm coming and we need to defend this place while you go help Pyrrha and Ozpin." She states readying up the glyphs. Ruby nods appreciatively speeding towards the building intent on getting to the top.

Cling! Clang! Cling! Clang! Bang! Swish! Bang!

Pyrrha Nikos was fighting with all her strength, speed and skill. Her opponent was ruthless, outclassing her in almost all aspects. Dodging to the right she avoided a fireball sent her way then immediately lifting her shield up blocking an arrow. Jumping she threw her javelin at her opponent who dodged it with ease. Landing next to her she used her semblance to receive her weapon back transforming it into a sword and quickly began a dance of swordplay with the woman who matched each and every strike. Throwing a kick she was able to nail her in the stomach creating some breathing room catching her breath.

Chuckling the woman looked towards her. "You're everything your reputation says about you and even more." She complimented though it held no respect. "Unfortunately for you today is the day you die by my hand." She claims with flames dancing around her, eyes ablaze in gold.

Paying no mind to her words she readied her weapons, focused in anticipation for what her opponent chose to do next. The only thought on her mind was to beat her and avenge the professor who sadly gave his life to protect her. She owed it to him, she owed it to the people suffering right now, to Penny… She wouldn't lose, she couldn't, there was no other option but to win.

The woman frowned at getting no rise from her. "Very well then, prepare to die Ms. Nikos." With that she flew forward using her flames and sword to overpower the champion.

"Adam…" Blake professes looking very scared at the moment.

Yang looking beside her in worry for her partner. "This guy must be bad news if Blake is reacting like this." She thought getting her weapons ready.

"You hurt me Blake," he starts using a sadden tone. "First you ditch me on the train, leaving me alone, now you're betraying your own kind for these humans. How could you do this to me?" He finished mocking hurt in his voice.

"Adam this isn't the way, violence is not the answer!" Blake yelled but knew it was futile.

"Yeah buddy, listen to her because what you guys are doing is terrorism." Yang states. "It's no wonder she ditched you guys if this is what you resort to." She finishes, anger laced in her tone.

Adam Taurus frowned looking towards Blake ignoring Yang. "So you choose humans over your own kind now? Over me? How low you have fallen.." he trailed off, pulling out his katana blade.

"Didn't you get the memo? You were dumped awhile ago, can't get over it or what?" Yang antagonized.

"Shut your fucking mouth you human trash" Adam demanded venomously, his eyes narrowing in anger. "This has nothing to do with you." He stated pointing his sword at Yang.

"Oh yeah? I think it has a lot to do with me since your terrorizing our home with the Grimm! You fucking monster!" Yang lashes back shooting him with her shotgun gauntlets.

"Yang wait!" Blake shouts worriedly knowing they were both in danger with this man. He blocks and deflects each round sent his way, his katana glowing brighter with each deflection. Yang continues to shoot until her rounds are empty thinking he couldn't block all the bullets. Though with pure skill he blocks every round, marks of a swordsman shining through.

Before Blake can get to her Yang charges forward with her fist cocked back, eyes blazing red. Blake watched in horror as Adam smirks seemingly disappearing and reappearing behind Yang a flash of red blanketing the room. As he sheathes his blade he turns and watches as both Yang and her dismembered arm fall to the ground. Blake rushes towards her catching her before she hits the ground. Looking up with free flowing tears she glares at Adam.

"Why that look, you really have chosen them over us. This saddens me Blake. It truly does." He preaches slowly walking forward unsheathing his blade once more.

Ren and Nora were gasping hard trying to regain their breath and stamina while also fending off Grimm that got past their superiors. Qrow, Glynda and Ironwood were absolute beasts keeping most of the Grimm at bay. Beowolfs were but cannon fodder, Ursa were gunned downed, griffons sliced in half. Whatever got by were either taken down by the military men or smashed by Nora. Ren was calling out Grimm that got by being support to the military and keeping tabs on Nora while she rampaged.

Things were looking into their favor, they were pushing back the invasion. As time went on less Grimm appeared and more ground was gained. Truly this was becoming a successful push back and the lives that were lost would not be in vain. Suddenly a loud roar/screech was heard making everyone wince from the volume. Then to everyone's shock A FUCKING DRAGON flew towards them with one of the biggest Beringels in its talons.

Hovering just above them the dragon released the Beringel right in front of them. It roar loudly shattering windows all around, it stomped causing everything to shake. Flinging one of its arms it destroyed a building debris landing across the battlefield. Qrow, Glynda and Ironwood landed next to Nora and Ren gasping themselves clearly low on stamina.

"Curse my fucking luck!" Qrow gritted out, furious at his own semblance for this shitty situation. It turned towards them sensing the negativity. Narrowing its eyes it prepared to attack.

Jaune and Weiss were beyond exhausted. The Grimm were relentless, however they thankfully had gotten help from their Professors Port and Oobleck when it seemed they were going to be overran by the sheer numbers of the beasts. The professors proved their worth as they slaughtered through the Grimm with amazing teamwork lightening the load on the students.

"Thank you professors, I don't know what we would have done without you two." Jaune heaved gasping for air. His body was sore and overexerted.

"Yeah you guys really showed us your worth in that." Weiss stated, "I'm glad to have learned under you two, my respect to your prowess." She complimented gratefully.

"Why of course students for it is our duty as huntsman!" Peter boisterously proclaimed.

"It is an honor to fight alongside both you and Mr. Arc however unfortunate the situation is." Oobleck stated with pride and sadness. Suddenly the four huntsman had to cover their ears from a loud roar. Eyes widening they turned to see A DRAGON heading their way at an alarming rate. Landing in front of them it spread its impressive wingspan and cawed angrily with fire gathering in its mouth.

The four huntsman gasped in fear not knowing what to do. Weiss started to pour as much power into her semblance attempting to summon. She was never good at it but had no choice right now! "Come on, COME ON! Let me summon something anything!"

The Dragons screech hit Blake and Adam causing them to wince. Due to their Faunus traits their hearing was much more sensitive compared to a humans. "Well it looks like the main cavalry is here." Shaking his head he makes eye contact with Blake. "Sadly I must end this quick as I certainly wouldn't want to be here to face that." Eyes gleaming he points his sword directly at Blake. "I'm sorry it had to be this way but I can't let you live after the hurt and betrayal to me and your kind." He stated sword glowing red. Blake closed her eyes clutching Yang to her chest tears freely falling.

"Yang, I'm so sorry…"

Ruby sped up the huge tower Weiss glyphs guiding her almost the whole way. She had to stop and jump into a hole in the wall that had led into a circular staircase. Determination flooding her she sped forward intent on getting to Pyrrha and Ozpin. She gasped as she heard a booming roar from outside, looking out she saw the biggest Grimm she's ever seen in her life. Eyes widened in fear she quickly started her pace upward again at an even faster rate. Using her semblance to its max she became a blob of red petals blurring faster than the eye can see.

Making it to the top of the tower in record time she comes to a slow bursting through the doors scanning the room at a rapid pace. To her shock she sees Ozpin on the ground with a pool of blood surrounding him, then slowly looking up she sees the tail end of Pyrrha's fight and despairingly notices her friend struggling to get up Aura breaking around her. Time moved in slow motion for her as she sees her opponent, Cinder Fall, notching back an arrow before releasing it straight towards an unprotected Pyrrha. Ruby screams, tears running down her face desperately speeding towards her friend in hopes to making it. Pyrrha notices Ruby and the arrow and realizes there's was nothing to stop what was coming.

"Perhaps I shall intervene, just this once..."
