She lingers in the shadow of a building in ruins. She hears the deep breathing of a medic and his patient nearby.
Her gun heavy in her hands, she readies it. She doesn't like killing; the things she's seen and the lives she's taken haunt even her in the dark of the night sometimes. But she pushes those thoughts away. There's no time for hesitation or regret on the battlefield.
She fights for justice. She fights for the weak. She fights for her loved ones. She fights so others don't have to.
As she raises her weapon, she starts to move from her post.
"Rose, wait." The medic, a young man, calls out to her quietly. He hates the violence and bloodshed. He hates death, and she knows it.
"Sorey," she answers without turning to him. "It's your job to save lives, and it's mine to take them."
She turns to face him, but the smile she gives isn't forced or fake, it's easy and genuine.
"You just worry about your job, and I'll worry about mine."
She'll feed her flowers blood if that's what it takes to help them bloom.
