Disclaimer-If they belonged to me, we wouldn't have to wait until September. Alas, Tim Kring still owns them so we'll just have to be patient.

"I lied." I said.

"I know." She poured another round for both of us.

"How?" I couldn't believe she'd seen through me, I thought I'd covered it so well.

"You get this look in your eyes when you don't want to tell me something, if the look goes away when you speak you're being honest, if not you're lying." She smiled that fragile smile I've always loved.

"So you've basically always known?" I asked.

"Pretty much, yeah." She glanced sideways at our friends at the other end of the bar.

"Why didn't you say something?" I really wanted to ask, 'Why did you let me hang fire over this for so long? Why couldn't you have just put me out of my misery?'

"It was your truth to tell and I wanted to see if you had the courage." She grinned. "I had never figured you for such a chicken-shit."

"I..I.." Damn her for this ability to render me speechless. "I guess I was afraid of how you'd react. I mean it's a pretty big deal telling someone something like that."

"Well I think I reacted pretty well all things considered. Don't you?" There's the smile again.

"Yeah, well the night is young and you haven't let it sink in yet. I'm sure given time you'll find a lower level. You usually do." I just had to jibe her a little.

"So, what now?" She asked the question I'd been dreading.

"I don't know, I'd kind of hoped this put the ball in your court." I dodged the bullet.

"Nope, it's your ball game, buddy."

Damn, she never could make it the easy way for me. Always trying to see how much I can take.

"Okay. Let's do it then." It felt good to finally make my move, to get her where I wanted her.

"You sure?" She looked surprised. She hadn't thought I go for it tonight. Time to force the lady to put her money where her mouth was.

"Why, do you think I'll regret it in the morning?" I smirked.

"No, I'm just surprised that you'd want to go for it right now."She looked a little unsure, now that we were about to move into unknown territory.

"Well you did say it was my ball game." I pushed a little more.

"Let's do it then." There's the classic Jordan 'I'm going full steam ahead' look. There's no backing out now. I get up from the bar stool and take her hand.

"Don't worry, I'll still respect you in the morning." I smirk again.

"Geez, Garret it just a damn karaoke contest. It's not like we having sex." She slugged my arm as we walked to the stage.
