Chapter one-A hero rises
A young man named nagate is awoken from his stasis pod somewhere he does not recognize. Nagate-where am I why can't I remember anything. He stands up but stumbles a bit and looks around then sees an old man he goes to talk to him but is shocked to see that he is dead. He then goes to his pod to change into his regular cloths in it is blue pants with a a black shirt with a white star on it and a sweater that says n7 with strips going down sleeve then checks his left artificial arm and his right artificial leg with a blaster strapped to it then grabs his bag.
Before he goes, he sees a note on the old man he picks it up and it says don't trust the captain she will betray you and steal your ring. Nagate- What that supposed to me? He then pushes a button on his arm to put his helmet on then makes his way up the stairs and starts to explore the levels.
He wonders around hallways and pipelines until he stumbles across a ladder he climbs up and comes across a food factory he starts to run towards it but then starts to feel drowsy and nearly pass out but not before tripping over a pipe and falling into a batch of rice. He survives and comes out the area where the rice is bagged. Nagate- dam it that hurt. Ah crap not again. He looks to see his robot hands fingers bent back. After getting off the conveyer and accidently hitting a bag off two of the plant's workers walk in. person- Hey what do you think you're doing? With a scared look nagate makes a run for it. The two workers then give chase with an alarm going off.
To try and make an escape nagate grabs on to a train cart then the cart whizzes away while the factory workers yell come back here rice thief. Relief fills his heart, but it is cute short when he slams into a pole and goes flying off knocking him out. The scene then pans towards the women's locker room. En honoka- So is he dead or something? Ren honoka- No he survived they arrested then sent him to the hospital.
En- He slammed into a pole, flew ten meters and he's still alive. Ren- I heard they found wondering around the rice factory that's scary. Izana- Hold on what are you talking about? Ren- About the under dweller. Izana under dweller? They walk outside together while still talking about him. Yamano- yeah right that's just a stupid urban legend. Izana- It's been a thousand years since the city was founded. They say the tunnels are so confusing that's if you get lost down there, you'll never get out. Ren- That's what we call an urban legend. En- Then let's go see if it's true or not? All 3 of them say what. En- Ren you know what hospital he's in right. Ren replies with yes. But Yamano isn't pleased, Yamano- Well I'm going to pass this time I have my tests soon. Izana- Yamano is always the diligent student. Yamano then gets angry, and yells were in the middle of a war, and you want to go see if some stupid urban legend exists, I can't believe how selfish you all are. They are then shocked at what she said including her then walks away angry while passing two other people. Izana- Oh look its Kunato and hoshijiro. En- I wonder if they want to come? Izana- Hoshi Jiro can come but Kunato? Ren- Your right we should just go on our own. They then walk pass them and head to the elevator. Kunato- This guard was once piloted by the great hero Haruto.
My dream is to pilot this and protect Sidonia. Hoshijiro- It's nice to have a dream. Kunato- Hoshijiro you should come by my place. Hoshijiro- What? Kunato- When you become an official pilot the facts you know of development will come in handy. Hoshijiro- Oh mmh. Back with nagate he awakens to see that he is in a small room then looks at his fingers to see that they are fixed. Before he gets up, he hears footsteps outside the door. Before it opens, he quickly jumps up and hides on the ceiling, the nurse comes in and is shocked to see he's gone.
Nurse- Ah doctor the patient the rice thief has escaped. Nagate quickly gets down and rushes out to find his bag and pistol, back with izana and the rest they are in the elevator heading towards the hospital while talking about what happened. Izana- I wonder if Yamano is mad at us. En-She didn't have to go that far. Ren- I know were in war but it's been a hundred years since we faced a gauna. Izana- If there never going to be another battle then what exactly are we training to become pilots for? Ren- Um well. Izana forms a sad face then looks out the window with a surprise look out the elevator. Izana- Once we live out are lives will all be sent to the organic converter reactor.
The elevator then stops and all of them arrive at the hospital but are shocked to see a giant crowd there and yelling. Izana- An antiwar rally. En- They still put these on. Ren- Look why are Kunato and hoshijiro here. While they walk an old man goes up to them. Old man- You must listen to me Sidonia is being controlled by the immortal council they have been pretending for hundreds of years that were at war so they can extend their lives. Kunato with an angry face reply's with nothing but a rambling old radical then walks away. Old man- Don't turn away you must not ignore the truth.
Ren- Honestly? En- That's the problem with these current activists. Then within seconds everyone starts to hear yelling and blaster fire coming from the hospital. Nagate- Stay away from me you pirate scum. Nagate jumps out the window while everyone watches and doesn't stick the landing. While getting up he looks around and doesn't recognize anything. Nagate- Where the hell am I? Then one of the nurses that was chasing him gets to the window and yells someone down there stop him. Nagate tries to run for it, but Kunato punches him in the face knocking him out. Kunato- What a fool. As he clasped on the ground nagate helmet comes off and it shocks everyone there. Kunato – It can't be. Mins later nagate wakes up in a police station worried and frighten. Nagate- Where am I now? Hoshijiro- Its ok. Your actually perfectly healthy great hero of Sidonia im hoshijiro. Nagate-huh? Then a police officer comes in saying here's the hospitals report you won't be turned into fertilizer for a while you should really thank her, she volunteered to bring you here great hero of Sidonia. Nagate-What are you talking about stop calling me that? Both the officer and hoshijiro look at each other confused. The officer then pulls out a table and starts to ask him questions. Officer- where have you been Haruto you been missing for many years what happened? Before he could answer nagate felt lightheaded and falls over at the table. Hoshijiro- Are you ok? Nagate- Wa, Water.
Officer- Water? Before he could say anything, someone else walks into the station. Person- Is this the police station that the under dweller was taken to. The officer looks up and replies with yes that's right. Hoshijiro recognizes him then stand up to salute him then officer dos the same. Officer- I'm sorry sir. Person- Its fine. Haruto there is someone that would like to be your personal guarantor I'm here on her behalf. Before leaving hoshijiro gives nagate a canister of water to drink. Nagate thanks her and follows the man to the elevator then he presses a button to the bridge.
Ochiai- My name is Ochiai it is a privilege to meet the young hero of Sidonia but since when did you need to drink water that much is there something wrong when you try to photosynthesis. Nagate- What's photosynthesizing and why does every keep calling me hero? I'm no hero I'm just someone trying to find out where I am and where my ship is. Also, my name isn't Haruto its nagate. Ochiai looks at him with a weird look when they step off the elevator. Ochiai-you're on your own from here. Nagate- What? Ochiai- All your questions will be answered through there. Nagate- ok. He then gives Ochiai the empty water cantina tightens his bag and walks through the door. Once entered he glances around a dome room then sees a woman in white dress with long hair and mask on. She then starts to walk to him then she takes off her mask and nagate is shocked at who the person is the says Hello my son
Nagate with tears says- Mom is that you? Kobayashi- I am and you have finally returned to me. Nagate rushes over hugging her while crying. Nagate-I can't believe it's you. Kobayashi- It's me. After hugging her she tells him this is the seed ship Sidonia it was built to seed other world but during its travels it traveled to another universe just like you. Nagate- Wait were in another universe how exactly did we get here and what about earth? Kobayashi- I am not certain but all will be explained in due time.
Nagate then thought of about the note the old man left behind and was about to ask her about it when he got the worse pain ever in his head and started to see visions of something. He sees a blue alien ship destroying a planet with a ship fleeing it then sees a girl laughing and running in a white dress playfully then sees images of a white mech. Kobayashi- Nagate what's wrong are you ok? Nagate- I'm fine just I think something is wrong with my memories. Before he could say anything else he passes out and falls asleep. Kobayashi- Rest well everything is going to be fine. She then summons 2 crew members and order them to take nagate to the academy. After they take him there Ochiai walks in. Ochiai- So is it true is he really from another universe? The one who showed up 20 years ago. Kobayashi- He is, and he must not find out what happened before he finds the real truth.
Hours later nagate wakes up in a small room with the artificial light beaming in. He gets up to look outside the window and is amazed at the view then looks on the table to see a note from the captain saying nagate I have enrolled you to become guard pilot of Sidonia but while you're there I want you to keep it a secret of me being your mother from everyone it would cause to much confusion. He starts to wonder why she would say that and after he finishes reading the note, then he hears someone enter the room.
He turns around and surprised to see a bear come in. Hiyama- Hello there I'm Lala Hiyama the dorm mother. You must be the under dweller everyone is talking about. Nagate- I guess so. Where am i? Hiyama -You are in the dorm rooms for new guard pilots. Nagate- I see. He then forms curios look at Hiyama. Hiyama- Is something wrong? Nagate- No its just I can't shake this feeling I've met you somewhere before. Ever since I awoke from my stasis pod my memories been fuzzy.
Hiyama-I'm shore they'll come back to you. Nagate-yeah, your right. Hiyama- All leave now so you can get dressed. Nagate- Wait where are my cloths that I was wearing. Hiyama- Don't worry they are being washed right now, once their done I will bring them back. The only thing I didn't take was your sweater. Nagate- Thank you. Hiyama nods her head then leaves. Nagate quickly changes into his uniform then grabs his bag with his sweater and makes his way to his class. Once there some of the student's gaze at him and giggle a bit, he then is asked to introduce himself.
Nagate- Hello every I know you all think that I'm this so-called hero, but I am not that person my name is nagate and its hard to believe but I'm actually from a different universe. All the students begin looking at one another and whispering to one another after finishing his speech he looks to see hoshijiro then waves at her and she waves back. He takes his seat, and the class starts. Once over he changes into his sweater and then starts to wonder around the school while listening to his music.
While walking he gets a few strange looks from other students, but he doesn't mind until he hears someone calling his name.? - Hey you nagate? He looks behind him to see someone approach him. ? - Nice to see you again. Nagate- Nice to see you.? -You don't remember me, but you remember hoshijiro. Nagate with a sad face reply's with sorry it was only because she brought me to the police station. The person smiles and says I'm izana shinatose a pleasure.
They then start talking and heading down a flight of stairs. Izana- So do you have some sort of special ability. Nagate- Not that I know of but if I did it would be cool. Izana- It's just that it not that easy to get into the guard pilot cadet program. Nagate- Oh really, I didn't know. While walk he looks at izana and notices something is off. Izana- You're wondering which one right?
Nagate- huh. Izana- Am I a boy or a girl, Nagate- what ah No. Izana-I'm neither one. Nagate-What, Izana- I guess you didn't know living underground but there are gender besides male and female now and I already have a partner that I like and hope to change soon. Nagate- Who's the lucky person. Izana- His name is Mako he's part of the defense squadron of Sidonia. Nagate- I'm happy for you. Izana- Thank you. What about you nagate anybody special to you? Nagate- I can't seem to remember. Izana- what do you mean? Nagate- Ever since I awoke from pod my memory has been fuzzy, I can only remember bits and pieces that's it. It's like someone tampered with my pod while I was asleep.
Izana- I'm shore they'll come back. Nagate- I hope so. Wait why did you ask if there was someone special, I like? Izana- Because of your ring I thought someone special gave it to you. Nagate- Ring? He then looks to see a gold ring on his left finger. Nagate- I didn't even notice that it must have been from my mom all look at it later for now where are we? Izana- This is the virtual training area cadets train here to improve their skills. He then goes to one of them and some of the students notice including hoshijiro. Once in the screen boots up. Nagate- Mark 18 is that like a new guard model.
Izana- Do you know how this work? Nagate -Not exactly but for some reason I have memories of flying an older model a mk 17. Izana- How is that possible? Nagate- The pod I was in you could upload memories to a person if they wanted to learn something, send a warning, or play a memory from the person. Izana- I see. Nagate- Is there a way to change the settings? Izana- Not that I know of. Nagate looks around the counsel then looks at his arm. Nagate- Wait I can use my arm to do it. Izana- Your arm? Nagate- I can hack and link into computers wherever. Izana- That's cool. A small wire then comes out of his arm and links up with the console. While linking everyone in the room including hoshijiro watches him.
Izana- Everybody staring at you. Nagate-Its ok I don't mind I'm just about their done. Hold on what's this? Izana- What? Nagate-It's one of memory files I'm going to try and see what is ahhh. After playing the file nagate feels an electric shock while his head is filed with flashes of different memories flooding his head. Izana manages to pull out his wire before he was hurt anymore then her and another student manage to pull him out of the console and sit him up straight. Izana- Nagate, Nagate are you ok?
Nagate- I don't know my head feels garbled after I tried to access it, I saw different memory flashes. Student- Of what? Nagate- I saw a planet being destroyed along with my mom giving me something then flashes of the tsugumori. The students look at one another whispering then hoshijiro asks how do you know about the tsugumori? Nagate- I don't know someone must have uploaded a memory of it to my pod on how to fly it. Hoshijiro- Who would do this? Nagate- I don't know but right now I think I need some space to think.
Nagate gets up and heads out the doorway to his room. After leaving some of the students talk among their selves about nagate. They talk about how different he is and what he was talking about, eventually hoshijiro leaves and follows nagate but from far behind so he doesn't see her. She catches up to him and sees him looking out a window and his ring. Nagate- What is going on what were those memories I saw? He looks at his ring and says What is it you're hiding from me mom and why don't you want anybody else to know about how were family. He gets upset and punches the wall. Hoshijiro- I guess you really aren't the hero we know. Nagate looks up to see her by the doorway then looks down with an upset look. Nagate-Sorry to disappoint you. Hoshijiro walks over and replies with its ok. They then hear buzzing coming from their wrist coms and both read as deployment order. They then hear yelling coming from outside. Izana- Nagate its or first sortie though its just a mining expedition. Hoshijiro- Congratulations on your first mission nagate not too bad since you woke up from you pod impressive. Nagate- I guess so.
They both head to the locker room to change into their flight suit. When nagate gets there, he sees izana there. Izana- Oh you made it you skin suit is in there. Nagate opens up the locker to see the suit and notices its different from his. Nagate- What's a skin suit? Izana- Oh that's right this your first time putting one on isn't. Nagate- Yeah. Izana- The cockpit doesn't have a toilet so the catheder is necessary it'll just snake it way in you and don't try to take it out it dangerous. Nagate with a worried face replies with noted while changing izana looks over and sees scars up where his artificial arm is and is shocked.
After putting it on he presses a button and feels it going into him. Nagate-This feels very weird. Izana -It usually dos the first few times. Before we go there's something we need to do. Nagate- What? Izana takes nagate hand and shakes it. Nagate- What's this for? Izana- There's a saying that squamates who have never toughed each other will get into an accident. Nagate- I see.
Izana sees Yamano walk by and says Oh Yamano you're in our division, aren't you? We may get pair together to let's shake hands to be safe. Yamano- That's just a dumb superstition I'm going to pass. She then walks off to the hanger thinking to herself. Yamano- You gotta be kidding me how did I get stuck with those special cases it's so unfair I'm not like those people. Back with nagate and izana she says Sorry about that Yamano is always like that. Nagato- Why is that? Izana- I don't know Come on let's head towards the hanger. They both head for the hanger while on the bridge the crew prep for the mission while the captain comes down on a small elevator. Mr.
Sei- We confirmed that there are ice shards on a nearby asteroid. We can have the cadets perform the mining operation but are you positive I'm not shore if their ready, especially him. Captain-It will be fine. Did you make the arrangements I told you? Mr. Sei- I have. Captain- Good. Back with nagate he approaches the hanger but soon recognizes there's no gravity and begins to float off the ground. Nagate- WOW WOW. Izana- Nagate your floating stick the ground.
Nagate- Like this. He then pulls himself down to the ground and balance himself, so he doesn't float again. He then hears someone call his name from the speaker. Mr. Sei- Nagate your boarding craft is in lane 5 hurry. Nagate- Yes sir. He then proceeds along the walkway and sees mech coming up from underneath. But once he gets to his lane, he notices his is different. Nagate- Tsugumori amazing. While getting on the lift some of the crew are amazed that he is flying the old guard but Kunato isn't happy about it. Kunato- That's my tsugumori it should be me. Still with an angry face he heads towards his mech. While boarding nagate hears yelling coming from someone. Mechanic- Hey you, newbies shouldn't be allowed to pilot a mech like this so you better not get a scratch on it. While saluting he says copy that. Once in he looks around the cockpit and moves switches up and down. His cockpit door closes then he feels the mech moving into the launch tube and his engine starting up. Once it finished, He says here we go and launches.
His mech goes flying through tube then out. While flying he sees the ship and the mechs flying by then says That's Sidonia its beautiful. He then hears his comms go off with Kunato saying Clasp formation. Hoshijiro- Wait this nagate first time. Nagate-This is nagate I copy. The mechs then join hands in clasp formation and head to the asteroid. Once there the groups separate and pair up in 2 nagate ends up with Yamano.
While they are setting up the equipment to mine the ice nagates arm starts to go off saying signal detected. He looks over to see where its coming from and sees nothing but then for sec sees something shining in the ice. He flies over to it and the other pilots take notice. Yamano- Nagate where are you going? Nagate doesn't reply and gets to where he saw the flicker. Once there he doesn't see anything but when he uses the mech hand to wipe the snow away he sees a ship.
While looking at it he sees a memory flash of the ship. Nagate- It's my ship the Valkyrie. Yamano- Your what? Nagate- It's the ship I was on when I crossed over but what's it doing here. Yamano- Who cares we have mission to complete. Nagate- I care it may hold answers that I'm looking for. Yamano- Whatever come on Kunato let's get this done. Kunato- Copy that. While Yamano began her mining operation nagate begins to free the ship from the ice and some of the pilots including hoshijiro and izana help him. Mr. sei- All have a team stand by to bring the ship in once its close. Nagate- Thank you. I never got your name sir. Mr. sei- My names Mr. Sei but you can call me Sei. Nagate- Understood.
The pilots manage to free nagates ship from the ice and tow it into orbit. Hoshijiro- Will have the ship towed to Sidonia. Nagate- Thank you Hoshijiro. All head back to help with the mining operations. Hoshijiro- Copy that. Nagate heads back towards the surface and lands on the asteroid to help but as soon as Yamano and Kunato activate the laser cutter he sees dozens of tentacles come out. It then grabs Yamano's guard then knocks nagate and Kunato guards to an ice wall. Kunato is knocked out but nagate managed to activate his thrusters before hitting the ice wall.
On the bridge there is confusion going on among the crew. Crew member- Heavy damage to Yamano and Kunato. Nagate only took small damage but is fine. Mr. Sei? What going on down there. Crew member- Were detecting a high concentration of heigus particles within the asteroid. Oh no it's a gauna they've encountered a gauna. Mr. Sei- G-Gauna? Captain-Our first in hundred years.
