Here is chapter 6, sorry that it took this long. I had kinda much work the last few days.
Again the usual thanks to my beta….what would I do without your help….
Thanks to Sci Fi Fan Gillian, StargateFan and SG-Fan, you guys made my day!
The last time at Stargate SG1:
"And what is the second thing where we differ from them?"
She smiled at before answering "Our child will be a girl."
When he heard that he embraced her hard for the second time and they kissed softly.
"I believe we should better support Daniel and Teal'c on their researches."
"What ever you say Major." Jack said smirking and they headed back to the ruins of the palace.
And now chapter 6
"I don't find anything to help us, nothing about a weapon, a trap or something like that. I find nothing new about this pair, just their names and that's it. Maybe we're on the wrong track. I can't even find anything about this Mao Li, he still is a pure mystery. It seems he just appeared out of the blue." Daniel said in a resigning tone while he walked through the hall with the portraits.
And now chapter 6"You do not intend in giving up do you Daniel Jackson?"
"Of course not Teal'c. It's so frustrating or did you find anything useful?"
"No." was the short answer of the Jaffa before he turned back to the pictures and writings.
While both of them tried to find anything interesting and relevant for their mission the other half of SG-1 entered the hall.
"Have you found anything new?" Jack asked and for once seemed to be really interested.
"No, absolutely nothing. I think that one of the pictures is the key, I just don't know which one." Daniel turned about 360 degree and made an excessive gesture towards the pictures on the walls and continued "I first thought it had to be the pictures of this couple because of you having these visions, but there's nothing conspicuous, interesting or relevant about them. Then I thought it could be a picture of Mao Li, but I couldn't find any."
"How do you know that no-one of these men is Mao Li?" Jack asked the severely frustrated Daniel.
Daniel showed with his hands to the pictures of the room.
"Because there are names under each one but the pictures of the monks. I guess they were not important enough." Dr. Jackson finished his explanations.
"Monks?" Sam asked surprised.
"Yep. Follow me I'll show you." Sam and even Jack followed Daniel to a wall which was partly hidden and on which Teal'c was working momentarily.
"Just look. Even monks had been perpetuated in these halls, I just don't have any idea why. Maybe Mao Li only wanted every layer of his empire to be represented in this chronicle."
Sam walked the row of monk portraits down until she stopped in front of one and took a closer look at it.
Jack just looked at Sam and asked "Ma-To?"
Sam continued glancing at the picture and said "It seems so."
Daniel looked at Teal'c astonished, who as usual raised an eyebrow.
"Could you be so kind and fill us in what this Ma-To means and how the hell you know something about him?"
Sam and Jack exchanged a short glance and Jack only said "We just had a ehm…vision."
After that Sam took over to explain everything necessary to Daniel. Of course only what he had to know.
"So this uneven couple, Zhang-Li and Sully, were the parents of Mao Li. It seemed they had been hiding in a monastery or something like that and briefly before they had been caught they gave their son to Ma-To, who promised to take care of the boy."
"Wow that explains a lot. And you're saying you again had such a vision?"
Jack and Sam only nodded.
"But this time you surely were not at the lake, were you!" Teal'c remarked dryly.
"That's right. We were on our way to you when the surrounding changed suddenly and like the time at the lake we were paralyzed."
"Carter's right. We overheard the conversation between these three people and we saw the baby. And then everything was just how it was before."
Daniel only nodded, because he couldn't think of anything else at the moment. He couldn't understand why his friends experienced such amazing events and he not. As a scientist and above all historian he wished such a chance to learn something about the past and the fates the inhabitants had have.
After they tried for two more hours to find out anything about these people – where the both militaries found themselves really useless, because they didn't understand the language – the Colonel decided it was time for dinner and they would continue tomorrow.
During dinner, which was instant soup, all members of SG-1 were lost in thoughts. Daniel, who apparently still thought about the reason for these visions, looked alternating to Sam and Jack and his mind began to evaluate an unclear picture.
Sam, who had noticed Daniels concealed look, now watched him with her ocean blue eyes.
"Daniel what's up?"
"What do you mean?" he asked consciously innocent.
"It's just…the whole time you're looking from me to the colonel and…ah…I don't know…"
"I've thought about why you of us all have these visions." he tried to explain.
"And?" asked the colonel in his bored and yet impatient manner, whereupon Sam had to smile.
"It's just a vague idea, but…"
"Danielll…" Jack asked slowly bad-tempered. On the one hand, because he finally wanted to rest in peace together with Sam and on the other hand because he suspected where Daniels explanations would head.
"Ah…in these writings Mao Li had been described as 'the protector of love and good' and ehm…"
"Daniel Jackson want to say that there seems to be some kind of attraction between the two of you and that that's the reason why saw the visions."
"Ehm, yes. I wanted to say something like that. Thanks Teal'c."
"What exactly do you want to say?" Jack asked his friends now.
"We know that there's nothing going on between the two of you caused by the regs and everything. But since the zatar'c test it's no secret any more that you have feelings for each other."
"Not that it had been a secret before." added the usually quiet Jaffa, which was answered with surprised looks from his friends.
"Ah yeah…" Jack tried to solve the situation somehow. "So you think just because of some stupid words Carter and I said three years ago, not very voluntarily I'd like to add, the great Mao Li send these images to us now?" he asked further with the usual sarcasm in his voice. Sam stayed quiet.
"Like I said, it only was a thought. I'm going to get some sleep. Good night."
"Good night and you'll take the last watch." Jack responded and was relieved to see Daniel letting the whole thing drop.
"Carter you'll take the first watch, I'll take the second and Teal'c'll take the third, understood?"
Teal'c bowed his head and expressed his agreement. Sam answered with the typical 'Yes sir."
Teal'c got up from the fire nodded again briefly at his friends just while Sam answered and also vanished inside his tent. Sam and Jack stayed behind. Alone.
Sam had leaned back against her lover and he put his arms around her waist gently stroking over her belly.
They were lost in thoughts like this for quite some time and enjoyed the simple closeness of each other, until Jack spoke into the silence.
"Are our feelings for each other that obvious?"
"Apparently." Sam answered shortly, but after some minutes she spoke again: "We've been working with them for seven years. They often enough had to witness how we acted when the other was in danger, hurt or missing. I think Janet also knows. And perhaps even Hammond."
"But they all believe that we would do nothing to endanger our jobs. After all we're professionals." Jack added and there was a bitter sound underlining his words.
"Apparently they don't know us as good as they think."
Again there was silence for some time until Sam spoke again.
"We have to tell them sometime, they're our friends and…" without finishing her sentence she looked at him and waited for an answer she could already read in the depth of his eyes.
"I know." he kissed her softly on the forehead and then continued. "Tomorrow, today belongs to us."
She smiled at him, turned around and while kissing each other, slid down in his lap.
"I love you!"
"I love you too Jack."
"Sam…"
"Hmm?"
"When at sometime we find a way, I mean at sometime when we don't have to fear repercussions for our love..."
Sam looked expectantly at her friend, superior and lover.
"Would you marry me?"
Sam smiled and a single tear went down her face. She kissed him tenderly and answered then: "I love you beyond everything and I want to be with you forever. I want us to be a real family, together with our daughter. I wouldn't like anything more than to become your wife." Again they kissed and again it was a kiss full of promises for the future.
They sat closely snuggled to each other with occasional kisses and enjoying the heat the other one spent in the silence until Sams quiet and serious voice broke it.
"When I was in the infirmary and Janet told me that I'm pregnant I started thinking…"
Jack looked into her ocean blue eyes surprised at the suddenly tone of her voice. Sam continued her explanations: "I was happy to know that I would get a child, in addition from the man I love beyond everything. But also I didn't know if I could really be happy about it. I didn't even know if you wanted a child."
Jack stroked gently a strand of her hair out of her face.
"Why did you think I wouldn't be happy about it? I love you beyond every possible explanation and you know that I want to be with you."
Sam nodded "Of course I know this. I thought of Charlie…" she looked shortly in his eyes before continuing "We never spoke about it, I mean about Charlie. I know it's your past and we wanted to let it rest, but…how was he?"
Jack thought shortly about that and then put his hands on her tummy. "Let me see, he loved it when we played baseball, he loved chocolate ice cream and the Simpsons."
Carter put a kiss on his nose and smiled "Like his father."
At this Jack also had to smile and started talking about the time and the experiences with Charlie. Sam listened to him and asked questions, laughed at his stories and was just there for him. It was the first time that they talked about the past and it was the first time that it doesn't hurt him. On the contrary it was good for him and absolutely releasing. And it made them both think about past events and about everything they now had and what would be waiting for them in the future.
