Chapter 5 – Sam returns home (I finally have some time to sit down and write. I've been so busy I didn't even have time to sleep much less write. The good news is I shouldn't have that problem anymore. My aunt is still improving. She is getting back to her old grouchy self. Thank yall so much for your patience. Now FINALLY back to the story. Love, James)

Sam approached his front door. He looked down at his watch. "Eleven thirty. What a day!" He said aloud to himself as he turned the doorknob. An exhausted Jo met him as he entered the house.

"Hey," She greeted him softly.

"Hey," he responded.

"I see you remembered that you have a home." Jo teased her husband.

Sam just smiled as they made their way up the stairs to their bedroom. Once inside they began making preparations for bed. After changing clothes Sam sat next to his wife on the bed.

"I called my boss and told him what was going on and that I might be a little late in the morning. He said not to worry about it and as long as I make it in before lunch its fine." He informed her.

"How's Edward?" She inquired.

"Well he is at home and in a better mood thanks in no small part I'm sure to the beers we drank at the pool hall. He told me he was going to try to get some sleep but somehow I doubt he will sleep much tonight. He's such a big-hearted guy. I really feel for him, He told me that they had had their problems but he never thought it would end up like this. I don't think any of us saw this one coming." Sam notified Jo. Sam sighed and shook his head. After a few moments of silenced he asked her, "How's Roberta?"

"Well she is at her mother's. Last time I talked to her she was still trying to figure how this had happened. She never thought it would come to this. She thought that it was just a phase that they were going through and that Howard and her were going to be able to work it out. It looks like she is going to be staying with her mother for a while so Gordo is staying here until she comes home." Jo reminded Sam.

"Edward is thinking about going back home to Mexico so he can get away from all this. He doesn't want to up root Miranda again after she got depressed being away from her friends the last time so it looks like we get to take care of her until he gets back, whenever that is." He added.

"So Howard and Daniella have decided that they are in love and have run off to New York together, leaving behind their spouses devastated and their teenage children that are now in our care. How thoughtful of them." Jo remarked sarcastically.

"How are Gordo and Miranda?" Sam quickly inquired.

"Miranda is in Lizzie's room trying to sleep and Gordo is either in Matt's room or on the couch trying to sleep. Lizzie and Matt bless them; they haven't let them out of their sight. They want to make sure that they are there for Miranda and Gordo. I mean I know we have great kids but today I saw how much they both love Miranda and Gordo." Jo smiled and continued, "They are doing as well as can be expected, though it has been weird when they try to deal with each other so far. I understand how they feel it has to be so odd for them. They will be ok they are strong kids. You can tell that they both care a lot about each other and that will win out in the end." Jo finished.

"It's a good thing we care enough about them to take them in. Lizzie and Matt got their big hearts from us you know," he preached before kissing Jo.

"I know. We should get some sleep. This day has tired me out and it looks like its not going to get easier any time soon," she admitted. With that they turned off the lights and went to bed.
