Chapter 6 – Gordo and Lizzie (Ok I am finally back in the saddle. The
reports of my demise are greatly exaggerated. I have had a lot of stuff
going on but I think I'm finally back where I can write regular again. My
aunt is doing well and will hopefully get to go home Friday!!!!! Well
enough of all that back to the story.
Love always,
James)
Lizzie made her way down the stairs and walked towards the kitchen. It was two in the morning but neither her nor Miranda had been able to sleep and now she making her way to the kitchen to get both of them something to drink. She was about to flip the light on when someone did it for her. She jumped and let out a squeal at the surprise.
"What?" Gordo asked as he saw her jump at his flipping of the light switch.
Lizzie instantly calmed when she heard the familiar voice and saw his blue eyes staring at her. "You scared me Gordo!" she answered with fake anger.
"I'm sorry. What are you doing down here anyway?" he inquired.
"Getting something to drink. What are you doing?" she questioned her lifelong friend.
"Same thing. I can't sleep and there is nothing on TV," Gordo informed her. Lizzie smiled at her friend and grabbed three glasses and laid them on the counter.
"You want water?" Lizzie wondered.
"Sure," Gordo stated.
"Ice?" she voiced.
"Please," he answered with a smile. Lizzie filled the glasses with ice but before she added water she turned around and leaned against the counter. She studied Gordo for a minute before deciding it would be ok to bring up what was on her mind.
"Gordo... how are you doing?" She asked with concern.
Gordo looked at Lizzie. He smiled to himself as he thought about how cute she looked in her pajamas. He walked over to the glasses and filled them with water. After he set the third one down he inquired, "All things considered?"
"Yeah," she answered simply as she watched his movements.
"Well I'm doing as well as I can be I guess. This whole mess with my parents and Miranda's parents sucks on levels I haven't even begun to realize yet. I can tell its not going to be easy with Miranda for a while either. I'm just lucky your family cares about me so much. Your mom and dad have been great to me and Matt has stayed by me since I got here. And Lizzie you," Gordo stopped in mid sentence. He took Lizzie by the hands and looked into her eyes. When he was satisfied that he had her attention he told her, "Lizzie I don't know what I would do without you. If you hadn't been there today I might have gone out of my head. Lizzie, thank you so much. Thanks to you and your family I know I'm going to be ok." He finished.
"You're welcome," she voiced with a big smile. Gordo let go and walked to the other side of the kitchen.
Lizzie shook her head and giggled before commanding Gordo to, "Come here!"
He obliged and Lizzie embraced the boy in a tight hug. Gordo smiled and without thinking kissed her cheek. Lizzie felt her cheeks blush as they let go and grabbed for the glasses of water.
"Well I better get these upstairs before Miranda wonders what happened to me. Goodnight Gordo." Lizzie informed him as she began to walk in the direction of the stairs.
"Goodnight Lizzie," Gordo replied. He watched her walk up the stairs to her room. Then he turned the light off and began to drink his glass of water.
