Chapter 11 – Kate takes her stand (Wow I actually added another chapter. I don't have much to say this time. My grandmother is doing better and I just had my birthday. I am 22 now. As always I value you guys' words. I look forward to reading your comments.

Love faith and understanding will save us all,

James

P.S. If at the end of time I will be judged on the things that I did and felt then I am proud to know that my legacy will be that I respected those who deserved respect. I was strong for those who needed someone to lean on, I bended but never broke. I did what I thought was right and pointed out what I thought was wrong. Life if what we make of it. If you must judge me then judge me but know that above all else I loved.)

Lizzie opened her locker. It was still several minutes before school started. Gordo and Miranda had both gone to their lockers and while Miranda's was in her line of site, Gordo's locker was in another section of the school. At the moment she was enjoying her short time alone, something she rarely had anymore. She was adjusting her necklace when she felt someone behind her.

"Hey," Kate greeted her.

"Hey," Lizzie answered as she turned to face her. Kate was wearing a pair of kaki pants and a t-shirt that read: I'm more popular than you. Get over it. She also appeared to be wearing subtle make up.

"I heard you had more drama last night." She stated.

"Kate how do you find about all this stuff?" Lizzie asked, puzzled.

"We have parents, they talk," Kate answered.

"What are you? My official checker upper?" Lizzie voiced sarcastically.

"No just a concerned old friend. Just call it part of my redemption process," she informed Lizzie.

"Gordo and Miranda got into a pretty bad argument. Miranda got into it with her mom, then Gordo tried to talk to her about it and she snapped at him, starting blaming him for her problems. He got hurt; they starting yelling, it wasn't pretty. Miranda stormed into my roomed and Gordo shattered a glass against the front door." Lizzie recalled as her face showed the affect of it all.

"He threw a glass into the door and broke it?" she asked surprised.

"Yeah I know, it shocked me too," Lizzie admitted.

"How is he?" she dug deeper.

"Well I went and talked to him. I told him that I wasn't gonna leave him and that I was there for him and that he can lean on me whenever," she remembered out loud.

"Do you think it helped?" Kate inquired.

"I'm pretty sure. He kissed me and went to watch TV with Matt," she said.

Kate simply raised her eyebrows and smirked at the comment, which prompted Lizzie to tell her, "Oh leave me alone."

"What about Miranda?" Kate questioned, moving on.

"Well I tried to talk to her, but she was just so distant. I gave up and told her to go to sleep. I'm really worried about her." She voiced.

Kate spotted Miranda at her locker and without saying a word left Lizzie and made a b-line for her. She knew she ha to do something before Miranda got out of hand.

"We need to talk," Kate started as she spun Miranda to face her to be sure that she looked at her while Kate spoke.

"What do you want?" Miranda answered quickly.

"You need to stop burning bridges Miranda!" Kate snapped.

"What are you talking about?" she questioned.

"Yelling at everyone, blaming Gordo for things that aren't his fault." Kate told her.

"So," she replied.

"So, you are lucky Miranda. You have Lizzie's parents willing to take care of you, no questions asked. You have 2 friends that love you to death. That's more than I ever had." Kate admitted.

"What's your point?" Miranda questioned.

"My point is, that if your not careful, you'll turn into me!" Kate said.

"What are you talking about Kate?" she asked.

"Oh come on Miranda, where do you think evil bitch Kate came from?" she responded.

"My parents split up, I got mad at the world pretty soon I was using it as a shield all the time. I ended hurting lots of people in the process. I called my mom a bitch, just cause I was angry at her. I still don't think she has forgiven me over that, and I just never let myself forgive anybody. Our relationship has been fractured ever since and I don't think we'll ever be as close as we were. Do you really want something like that to happen to you?" Kate posed, her face showed a purpose Miranda had never seen before. She leaned back against her locker and took a few moments to soak everything in.

"No," Miranda finally answered as she fully realized how wrong she had been.

"It's been a long time since they split up and look at me. I'm just now starting to win back some of the things I lost. I'm finally losing my need to be a bitch all the time. I just think that if I can make you see what you are doing now then maybe I can save you some problems later," she stated, as her face began to soften.

"Kate, why are you doing this?" Miranda questioned.

"I thought that if I helped you in your time of need, maybe one day you will be willing to forgive me." Kate told her, as a soft smile formed across her face.

"One thing at a time. Hey Kate, thanks," Miranda stated.

"Don't mention it," she answered.

"Kate, look at that," Miranda pointed out, as she noticed Lizzie and Gordo standing at her locker several feet away. They were holding hands and their body language showed an apparent comfort between them.

"What? It's just Lizzie and Gordo." Kate stated flatly.

"But he's holding her hand. What did I miss?" she wondered.

"Oh well after your little tirade last night, Lizzie went and comforted him. She gave him the whole I'll be there for you bit and then he kissed her. Oh come on you knew it was coming," she informed Miranda.

"Well yeah I did but I didn't know they were actually together yet." Miranda replied.

"Actually I don't think they are officially a couple yet, but it wont be long now." Kate corrected her.

"But they are holding hands," Miranda protested.

"Still under the category of comforting for now. Just give them time. They'll make it official soon enough," she concluded.

Miranda just smiled and shook her head.

"You better go join them," Kate suggested. Miranda nodded and started walking in the direction of Gordo and Lizzie.
