A/N: Ok, no spoilers, but crack pairing ahead. Alright, so it's barely there, but I tried! It's hard to really write a YachiruxHinamori! Hitsugaya's POV.

Miffed

He had to admit, he felt a little miffed. He had taken the time to walk all the way to the 5th Division, opening up himself to the jokes and teasing that was sure to be piled upon him – all the ones about young love, schoolgirl crushes, and the like. So he had risked this ridicule (which came from his own subordinates, even) only to find that... she was already occupied.

He had considered himself lucky when she stopped waxing poetic about how awesome Aizen was, and had been glad when she wasn't hanging right by him all the time. But now… well… he had to wonder if maybe it was easier that way than to have her already busy with the vice-captain of the 11th Division. At least then he could've glared and be cranky, but he didn't dare glare at Yachiru – it didn't matter that she was a vice-captain, she was still plain scary.

"Oh, 'Shiro-kun, I'm sorry, Yachiru and I were already going out for lunch." Hinamori smiled apologetically, Yachiru hanging off her back, and Hitsugaya found himself unable to get irritated with her. "You're welcome to come along, though." She said, smiling still.

He stiffly shook his head, keeping his scowl internal, lest he should provoke Yachiru, "No, I'd better not intrude. I can eat lunch with… Ichimaru… or… Kuchiki…" He gave a mental roll of eyes, knowing he'd even rather eat lunch with Aizen than creepy old Ichimaru (the freaky fruit was always pinching his ass) or stick-up-the-ass Kuchiki (he was just… boring, and those bone chips in his hair always had a nasty habit of dislodging and landing in food at meals). At least he could glare at Aizen and think of ways to torture him.

But Hinamori seemed to take his statement at face value, "Oh, good! I'd feel awful if you were alone at lunch!"

Hitsugaya forced himself to smile, and agree, aching to whack the pink-haired devil over the head when she tightened her arms around Hinamori's shoulders, yelling an exuberant, "Yay! I get Hinamori all to myself!"

He weakly waved to them, as Hinamori set off, and Yachiru somehow hugged herself even closer to Hinamori, resting her head against Hinamori's neck and the side of her face. Once they were gone from sight, he frowned, and spun around, walking heavy-stepped back to the 10th Division. He was musing over his poor luck when he suddenly felt an odd bit of pressure on his rear end. He jumped at the unexpected touch, and leaped away, spinning around, only to find Ichimaru standing there, practically leering at him, "I've been wondering where you were, Touhsiro-chaaan…"

Yeah, his luck definitely sucked.
