Hello, and welcome to my first experimental fanfic of Dinosaur King, in which this fic is conceived by accident, wherein I discovered this category when I accidentally saw the profile of a FFN writer named Drew Luczynski, whom I generously helped when he posted an inquiry on the FFN forums on how to access the desktop Mode of the site, and upon checking his profile I saw him wrote a fanfic about Dinosaur King, which made me curious and I checked it out via Wikipedia, where I discovered that it was based on a video game by Sega, which in turn spawned two anime seasons.
Out of curiosity, I checked the anime opening sequence on YouTube, and saw what it looked like, and this somewhat piqued my interest as I checked the Google sites to find more information about that series. This made me feel challenged as I decided to make a fanfic about Dinosaur King even though I have yet to watch the episodes, as I will rely on the character information for now.
Another source of inspiration for this fic is the hype surrounding the upcoming TV drama titled Kamen Rider Revice, in which it was a superhero show where the main character is wearing an armor that has a motif based on a dinosaur. Although the said show is slated to air this September, I saw the pics of Revice and decided to try an experiment as I would attempt to blend the elements of the two series.
Both of the said series has motifs of dinosaur so I decided to give this a try and see if it generate some interest.
By now you are wondering why the disclaimer has Fairy Tail and Groove Adventure Rave on it. Well, this is a crossover of sorts, as this was an idea I came up with as I am working on the opening of the first chapter, and there is a plot involved, hence the characters of the two series will have some involvement in this fanfic.
Also, given that I haven't seen the anime yet, I will improvise on how to bring the characters to life here, and given the title of this fic, it would serve as an introductory version which this fic would last about 10 chapters, depending on the plot and the number of reviews it would receive.
Lastly, for those who watched the 4Kids version of Dinosaur King, I will be using the original names of the characters, as I am more used to it as well as I'm not quite a fan of English dub anime due to various reasons.
Well then, read on and enjoy!
Ch. 1: Chimamire no purorōgu
The scene shifts at a town, which is bustling with people, as many are walking and loitering around, shops filled with shoppers whilst restaurants are catering hungry patrons, some are dining in and others ordering take-outs.
Some shops are selling clothes and there are banks accommodating customers who wish to deposit their money while others are transacting, such as opening new accounts and withdrawing money from their ATM cards.
The scene shifts to other areas where shops are open and the merchants are selling their merchandise and are enticing people to buy them in hopes of earning money. It was a typical day and it seems that people today are lively and felt that their lives are full of blessings and couldn't ask for anything more, as some are happy with stable jobs, students studying in the best schools, and more, and some even chatted with one another feeling that today is a good day.
"Hey!"
"Nice day, isn't it?"
"Today is a good day..."
"I love my job..."
"Life is so good..."
"I wish I have a good day..."
"Lots of money..."
"Lots of girls..."
The scene later shifts to a certain area, where business is thriving the area is frequently being besieged by customers which are a mix of adults and teenagers, and they appeared to be avid collectors, as they are looking and buying second-hand items which are technological in nature, and their reasons for patronizing the said shops are purely economical in nature - cheaper prices and practicality.
You can see several shops selling HOT items for cheaper prices, such as smartphones, android tablets and even laptops, and despite being second-hand items, they appeared to be in good working conditions, and some of the customers are willing to buy them as long as their desired items are working fine as well as to save money for budgetary reasons, and the merchants are using subtle means in enticing passing customers.
"Hello...please by our items..."
"They are cheaper..."
"...they are in good working condition..."
"You can try them if you like..."
"I promise you will like them..."
"I promise you will get your money's worth..."
"Here are the items on our display..."
"Pick the one you like..."
The area is thriving and many merchants set up shops to attract passing customers and entice them to buy their products by showing the items and offered cheaper prices while assuring them that the items are in good working condition, and their marketing strategy worked as some passing customers were intrigued after hearing that so e gadgets are being sold in cheaper prices, and they began asking the merchants what items do they sell, and the merchants showed to the customers the items they are selling, ranging from smartphones to android tablets and even laptops.
Then the scene shifts to another nearby shop, where a merchant is also selling second-hand items, but unlike the other shops, this merchant is selling something else and is catering avid collectors, and the scene shifts inside the shop where you can see the items being sold, which turn out to be classic console units and games, all being displayed on the shelves, and one by one you can see the following consoles being on display, which are:
- Nintendo Famicom
- Super Famicom
- Sega Mega Drive
- Game Boy Color
- Game Boy Advance
- Neo Geo
- Sony Playstation
- Sega Saturn
- Nintendo 64
In a matter of minutes customers passed by the shop, and most of them are avid collectors and fans of video games, and they were immediately intrigued by the items on display and they looked at the items, as some appeared to be unaware that such classical consoles actually existed, and they began asking the merchants if those consoles and its games are really something to be owned, which the merchant nodded and assured to them that the classic games are RARE, and are fun to play with, saying that even with popular games today that are released on current consoles, the consoles on display are even COOLER due to its nostalgia factor.
"Are they really cool compared to today's consoles?"
"Yes...they ate cool..."
"Seriously?"
"Yes, sir...they are the very first games...and they are the popular ones in its heydays...and they are RARE to find..."
"Hmm..."
"Would you like to try them...?"
"..."
"I promise you will not regret it..."
By then a passing customer passed by the shop, and he appeared to be a businessman in his mid-20's, and saw the items on display and became intrigued by it and went inside the shop, looking at the consoles on display, and began inquiring about which console is the best to purchase, as he is wondering which one he should choose, and the merchant obliges as he patiently explained each of the consoles' abilities and specialties, and soon he recommended to the customer to buy the Super Famicom, saying that aside from having a lot of RARE games, which are in cartridge form, it was the most popular and well-sold consoles in its heydays, and even said that several games are colorful in terms of graphics and that there a lot of popular games to choose from.
The customer appeared to be enticed yet he wanted to be sure, so he asked the merchant to give him a demonstration, and the merchant obliges, and brought out the Super Famicom and attached it to a flat-screen TV and inserted a cartridge and activated it, and the customer watched in awe seeing that the merchant was not lying, and after testing out several games, the customer is pleased and agreed to purchase the console, and the merchant happily obliges as he prepared a box to put the Super Famicom in and said that as his way of showing thanks, he will give 50 Super Famicom games for 70% discount, which the customer is pleased with this.
"Really? You will sell the games at 70% discount?"
"Yes, sir..."
"Thanks!"
"Please choose the games that you like..."
"I'll take these..."
"Here you go..."
"Thanks!"
"Have a good day, sir..."
After that, the customer got what he wanted, paid the merchant and left, and the other customers were awed in seeing that the merchant had sold a popular classic console to an adult, and they began asking the merchant for opinion on which console is the best besides the Super Famicom, and merchant began to show out the other consoles and offered to show its power and the number of games that are available, and after seeing them, the customers lined up and brought out their money and ordered their desired consoles and its games.
"I want the Sega Mega Drive!"
"The Neo Geo!"
"Give me the Nintendo 64!"
"I want the Game Boy Advance!"
"I want the Nintendo Famicom!"
"I want all of it!"
"Everyone...calm down...form a line and I will accommodate you all..."
"Hurry up, then!"
As the customers are scrambling to get the consoles they wanted to buy, the scene shifts towards another stall where a merchant is patiently waiting for a customer to pass by, and moments later, someone came as he took notice of what products are displayed inside the stall.
The customer is Kenryu Kodai, and he seemed to be intrigued by what the merchant is selling, as he saw a few CLASSICAL consoles are put on display, but then his eyes caught something that piqued his curiosity.
"Excuse me."
"Yes…?"
"May I ask what is that…?"
"Which one?"
"This one."
"This...?"
"Yup."
"…"
Kenryu saw a CD-shaped box on display, which shows a character armed with a gun fighting a human-sized dinosaur, in which the merchant said that this game is a collector's item, which collectors are scrambling to find this game and add it to their collection.
The said game's title is shown, revealed to be called Dino Crisis, and the merchant said that this game is considered a best seller and offered it to Kenryu for a discounted price.
"Really?"
"Yes. It's a sought-after game which gaming enthusiasts are looking for. And I say that this game is pretty popular."
"Seriously?"
"Yes."
"Hmm…"
"I promise that you'll enjoy this game."
"Well…"
"Believe me…"
Kenryu had to think about it as he finds it a bit disturbing about a video game aimed at shooting down dinosaurs, and said that he would have to think about it as he finds the game quite violent.

Elsewhere, the scene shifts at a bookstore which is located within the city, where the scene shifts inside, where you can see a teenage boy is asleep. He appeared to be dreaming of something as his eyes twitched even if they were shut close, and brow moved a bit erratic.
The boy appeared to be that of an average teenager, whose size is that of a normal boy who appeared quite shorter than an average adult. He has silver hair and is a bit spiky. He is identified as Haru Glory, and he is dreaming of something, which the scene zoomed towards what Haru is dreaming, where the dream sequence commences.

The scene showed that Haru is in the same city as before, only this time he is that of a seven-year old boy, and he is in a middle of a crisis, where mystical creatures are rampaging; building burning, and he is about to be assaulted when a red-haired woman came to his aid, and slices off a few creatures away.
The woman is identified as Erza Scarlett, and she sensed that she may have to do something drastic if she were to end this situation. She tells Haru to be strong and that one day he may have a HUGE responsibility coming to his way one day.
"This is bad…"
"Erza… "
"Haru…listen carefully…one day you will have to carry on…"
"What…how…?"
"I am sure you can pull it off."
"Erza…?"
"Good luck."
"…"
Erza then grabbed a broadsword and stabbed the ground, causing a huge energy to engulf the area around them, and when the light dissipated, Haru opened his eyes, seeing that everything WENT BACK TO NORMAL, where there are no traces of any damage, but Erza disappeared, and in his hand he is holding a red-colored object, which appeared to be a palm-sized book.
Haru was dumbfounded at what he is seeing, and wondered what has become of Erza, as she disappeared without a trace.
"Huh? What just happened...?"

The scene shifts back to the present, where Haru slowly woke up, as he sighed in annoyance at having another recurrent dream, even though that scenario has already passed and that he has already found closure which allowed Haru to move on with his life.
Several minutes later, a group of elementary school children came and you can see that they are arguing on something, which Haru can hear the topic of the quarrel, as the children are arguing on which show is better, saying that some of the shows, which featured dinosaurs, are cooler than the others.
"I'm telling you…Zyurangers is the best!"
"I say it's Abrarangers!"
"Kyoryuger and Ryusoulger are way cooler!"
"Forget it! They're relying too much on CGI."
"Then why insist on Zyurangers?"
"Because the zords shown are using real costumes! And the fight scenes are real!"
"Seriously?"
"For real?"
Haru sweat-dropped at hearing the argument and sighed, as the children argued while making comparison about the following shows:
- Zyuranger
- Abraranger
- Kyoryuger
- Ryusoulger
Hearing this, Haru decided to intervene sensing that an argument might commence and might cause a disturbance, and there he approached the kids and asked them if they need anything here.
The children then began inquiring Haru about any books they are looking, for, which he happily obliges, and asked them if there is anything they want, and the children asked Haru if there are books that has dinosaurs on it, and there Haru led them to a section where various books are on display, featuring stories having dinosaur themes, and the children are having difficulty in choosing what genre they want to pick.
"Which one should we pick?"
"That one!"
"Too plain…"
"How about this one?"
"Boring."
"Maybe that one…"
"Bland."
"…"
By then someone else came in and started to scold Haru for letting the children have a difficult time choosing, explaining that he should help the kids choose something that is easy for the kids to pick one that they can relate to, and not let them decide for themselves as they would one day regret their inactions.
The person who scolded Haru is a teenage girl who appeared to be a bit taller than Haru, blond-haired with a well-endowed figure. She is Haru's employer and owner of the bookstore they are in, and is identified as Lucy Heartfilia, and she spoke to the kids which genre they like, and after a while the kids were able to decide which one they can choose.
Once the kids left, Lucy lectured Haru about how to handle customers that are too young to decide for themselves and that he should assist the kids, as they are not capable of fully deciding on which ones they want, which Haru just nodded.
"…and that's how you assist the customers…"
"Fine."
"Believe me…it's a good lecture for you."
"Yeah, I get it."
"Remember. We're both running this bookstore, so we should give our all."
"Okay."
"I'm serious, Haru."
"I know."
Then the door chime made a sound, signaling that another customer came, and as Haru is about to greet that person, he is surprised to see that it wasn't a customer, but someone else, and the person turn out to be Lyon Vastia, and Lyon greeted Haru and Lucy, and the three of them began talking as Haru asked what Lyon is doing here.
Lyon said that he came here to work part-time as an assistant stating that he like books and stuff, which Lucy smiled and said that he is welcomed to work here, reasoning that Haru needed some assistance when it comes to customers aged seven and below, which Lyon smirked at hearing the reason, while Haru whined at Lucy for embarrassing him.
"Lucy! You're embarrassing me!"
"But it's the truth."
"And that's what happened, Lucy?"
"Don't listen to her, Lyon!"
"Well…the truth hurts, Haru."
"Oh dear…I guess I did come in the right time…"
"Oh man…"
"Ha-ha-ha…"
"Ha-ha-ha…"
Then another customer came, which is a female teenager who seemed to be looking for some books, and there Lucy tells Lyon that this will be his first job, which is assisting the customer, and Lyon nodded as he approached the female teen, who appeared to be 16 years old.
Lyon asked the girl if she needed something, and she said that she is looking for a book that has information regarding dinosaurs, which Lyon appeared to be a bit apprehensive as he is not quite versed about prehistoric animals, yet he is willing to assist her at the best of his abilities.
"A book…?"
"Yes."
"About…dinosaur species…?"
"That's right."
"Okay…"
"?"
"I'll see what I can do…"
"Thank you."
The teen girl is identified as Marumo Tatsuno, and she thanked Lyon for his willingness to assist her, and as Lyon showed Marumo the section which featured animals, Haru is about to attend to something when he saw a pair of children holding a book, and one of them opened it and accidentally saw what appeared to be a card, and the two children, aged seven, commented that the card has a picture of a rare dinosaur and they thought that it is a rare card game and thought about selling it so they could get some money.
"You think we can sell this…?"
"I think so…"
"How much do you think…?"
"Maybe 1,000…?"
"Then we should split it…"
"500 for you…500 for me…"
"Then it's settled."
"Cool."
Suddenly, a man, wearing a trench coat and a hat that concealed his face, appeared and brutally twisted the child's hand before taking the card by force, causing the child to cry out in pain. The other child banged his hands and told the man to let the other child go, and the ruckus attracted Haru's attention.
He and Lucy checked it out and saw what transpired, and to their utter shock, the man kicked the child on his throat with brutal force and the child was thrown back and hit the floor, where the child choked while vomiting blood, and Lucy was horrified at what the man did.
Haru told the man to stop that and let the other child go, and the man grabbed the other child by his hair then banged him against the wall, and the child slumped, and you can see blood smearing the wall.
Haru was angered by this and is about to retaliate when Lyon came after hearing the ruckus, and seeing what transpired, he told Haru that he will deal with the attacker. He then told Haru and Lucy to tend to the injured kids, just as the man in the trench coat and hat ran off like nothing happened.
Marumo saw this as well and suspected that something is amiss as Lyon went after the attacker and she followed suit, sensing that the man is more than meets the eye.
Haru checked on the two kids, and he became worried and told Lucy to call for an ambulance, which she nodded and left the bookstore to get help.

Not far, the man kept running but Lyon is catching up with him and soon the man stopped as he glared at his pursuer, and there Lyon demanded to the man to explain why he attacked two children who pose no threat to him, but the man just stood there as if he doesn't care about anything else.
Marumo arrived and watched as Lyon and the man are having a stand off but then the man took out another card and swipes it with a device, and it summoned a sabretooth tiger, surprising Lyon as he never seen anything like that.
Marumo is equally surprised and began to deduce that the man is working for someone that has the same devices like the Alpha Gang, and she is about to take action as the man pointed his finger towards Lyon and the sabretooth tiger lunges forward.
Unfortunately a passerby, riding a skateboard, came at the wrong time, and went in between Lyon and the sabretooth tiger, and the creature ended up attacking the hapless victim as the sabretooth tiger chomped on the victim's neck up until he got decapitated, and the ground is now filled with a pool of blood whilst the victim laid there dead.
Lyon was angered and brought out a device, which resembled a scabbard that is the size of a belt buckle and placed it in front of his waist, and soon it formed a belt. Then he brought out what appeared to be a palm-sized book that is colored blue, where the title is shown, which says Lion Senki.
There Lyon inserted the book onto the center slot of the belt and then pulls the sword out, which triggered a transformation sequence which surprised Marumo.
Lion Senki book: "Nagare Battou! Lion Senki! Nagare Issatsu! Hyakujuu no oh to Suiseiken Nagare ga majiwaru toki konpeki no tsurugi ga kiba wo muku!"
The scene showed that A SEA OF WATER appeared and then a blue-colored creature, resembling a bio-mechanical lion, showed up and ran towards Lyon, and soon he is encased in an armor.
Lion Senki book: "Mashimashi battou! Elemental! Mashimashi! Nosemental! Mashimashi! Mashimental! Mashimashi! Elemashi!"
Lyon is shown to resemble a knight, wherein his armor is colored blue, while his chest armor has the head of a lion. He is now transformed into Kamen Rider Blades, and now he is ready to fight, just as the sabretooth tiger is growling and ready to pounce on its prey.
Marumo is forced to watch as she is unsure what to make of this scene as she never encountered something like this and is unsure if Lyon could handle something he never encountered before.

Hope you liked this chapter, though you're probably surprised that there is a reasonable amount of violence here wherein the anime has almost none, yet there are some brutal moments shown, such as two kids being attacked whilst a skateboarder was violently attacked…
Though this is a Dinosaur King fic, only two characters appeared, which are Kenryu and Marumo, and while the former only had one scene, the latter will have a more relevant role in the upcoming chapters.
While majority of this chapter seemingly featured a few characters from another series, rest assured that Ryuta Kodai and Rex Owen will appear in the upcoming chapters.
