Baby, you're all that I want
When you're lying here in my arms
I find it hard to believe
We're in heaven
A week had passed since Setsuko had died, and Seita was thoroughly depressed. When his father went away to join the navy, Seita didn't become depressed, nor did he become depressed when his mother passed away. Not even learning that his father died had made him that upset. But when Setsuko died, everything that mattered died with her. He had nothing to live for now. It was Seita's fault his little sister died, because he didn't take care of her well enough. Maybe he should just kill himself. At least he'd get to see Setsuko.
Oh, thinking about our younger years
There was only you and me
We were young and wild and free
Now nothing can take you away from me
We've been down that road before
Seita took a deep breath as he stood on the bridge, the little tin box that held Setsuko's ashes clasped in his hands. He looked down at the river, whose current was very high and strong due to all the rain Japan had been getting lately, and then at the sky, where raindrops fell down.
That's over now
You keep me coming back for more
Baby, you're all that I want
When you're lying here in my arms
I'm finding it hard to believe
We're in heaven
Seita stood on the rail, breathing hard now. Memories of Setsuko flooded through his mind, as fast as the river. Would Setsuko want Seita to do this? Probably not, but there was nothing on Earth for Seita to live for.
And love is all that I need
And I found it there in your heart
It isn't too hard to see
We're in heaven
Seita's breath was shaky now. He could jump, it would just be like jumping off the docks at the beach! Except the saltwater wasn't going at such speed, nor was its current very strong…He took a deep breath…and jumped into the swirling mass of water. It didn't take him very long to drown; he never stood a chance against the current. But at least, he thought, we're in Heaven.
We're in heaven
