Disclaimer: All of Final Fantasy 8 belongs to the demigods at Square Enix and Sony and it makes me sad.
Warnings: threesome, polyamory, SquallxRinoa, SeiferxSquall, past (and briefly in the present) SeiferxRinoa, mention of sex.
When Seifer got back to Garden after the war, still that same proud young man, though maybe a little calmer, he acted as if nothing had changed between them, as if Squall's relationship with Rinoa didn't matter at all. He still challenged him to duel, called him ridiculous nicknames and still pestered him until he'd actually talk about what was on his mind. And when they kissed, it was as if everything was indeed still just the same, it drew him in like nothing else, made him melt under Seifer's hands as they roamed freely over his body.
Sex between them hadn't changed either, still hard, fast and eager, leaving them panting and sweaty on Seifer's bed. But the guilt was new, the guilt for betraying Rinoa, betraying her trust. And Seifer knew and didn't say a word when Squall got dressed and left.
Squall confessed to Rinoa, told her what he and Seifer had done and that he'd understand if she wanted to leave him. But she didn't leave. There were tears and there was screaming, but in the end, she stayed, forgiving him, forgiving them both.
The problem was, however, that Squall now knew that he didn't just love Rinoa, he loved Seifer as well.
He
told Rinoa that too and though he knew it shocked her, she didn't say
a word, gave no sign at all of how she felt about it.
Then, one
night, Seifer was in their bedroom, only half dressed and in the
middle of a rather passionate embrace with Rinoa as Squall walked in.
Perhaps, she said, they could share. And so they did.
The results
were disastrous.
All three of them ended up not speaking to each
other for weeks, Squall and Seifer simply ignoring each other as they
went about their business and Rinoa even going back Galbadia to see
her father for a while.
But she came back again, telling Squall
that she still loved him, but that she and Seifer would simply never
work out.
They carried on like before then, Squall and Rinoa,
happily enough, but with the thought of Seifer still eating away at
Squall's mind, until it exploded and left them, after shouting,
throwing punches and flinging insults at each other, on top of
Squall's desk, panting heavily and clothes rumpled as they basked in
the afterglow.
After that, they finally sat down and talked, all
three of them.
They ended up deciding that, while Seifer and Rinoa
couldn't be together, perhaps they would be able to share Squall. And
they were.
Seifer agreed to stay in the background, quoting
Rinoa's "it simply wouldn't do for the Commander of Balamb Garden
to be caught in a scandal like this" when Squall protested. And it
worked.
Everything was simply much better then. Seifer and Rinoa
got along better than ever and would sometimes even tag team to wear
Squall out to the point where he could barely even walk anymore, upon
which they'd force him to take the day off and they'd go out and have
fun, just the three of them.
After all, what's a little sharing between friends?
