Author's Note: I probably shouldn't be throwing another story on the writing pile, but I felt inspired and this is one I've been wanting to do for a long time…the Sailor Scouts meet the Power Rangers!

A heads-up: This story takes place after the events of Sailor Moon SuperS, and the Rangers here are from the BOOM! Studios comics (as I really love those takes on the Rangers). Also expect a romance between a Senshi and Ranger that will be glaringly obvious by the end of this chapter.

Sailor Moon was created by Naoko Takeuchi. Power Rangers was developed by Haim Saban & Shuki Levy, and based on Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger.

STARCROSSED SOLDIERS

Chapter 1: The Girls Who Leapt Through Time (And Space)

Angel Grove.

Jason Scott didn't know when he got used to being a Power Ranger. Maybe it was the fifth or tenth monster he and his friends had felled with their Megazord. Maybe it was when Tommy joined the team. Maybe it was the recent mess with Lord Drakkon. In any case, punching Putties and summoning his Tyrannosaurs Zord was just as much a part of his life as school or karate class. But at times it felt like the weight of leading the Power Rangers was going to break him in half.

"Jason!" Zack Taylor, Jason's best friend - and the Black Ranger - called out. "Little help here, man?"

Jason shook the malaise from his mind and leaped to his friend's side. "POWER SWORD!" he shouted, calling down a red-hilted sword. One swing and the Putty Controller attempting to strangle Zack was chopped in half. Zack spun around to face a trio of Putties that were racing toward them. "POWER AXE!"

A massive black axe appeared in his hand, and he flipped it around so that the handle was pointing at the Putties. He reached down, pulled the trigger, and fired a stream of jet-black energy that wiped them away.

"These guys are really starting to make me hate art class," Zack joked, turning to his friend. Underneath his helmet, his smile turned into a frown. Normally whenever he cracked one of his lame puns it led to Jason chuckling - or groaning depending on how corny the joke was. Here...there was nothing, as Jason continued to cut through Putties. "Tough crowd, I guess?"

Elsewhere, Kimberly Hart - aka the Pink Ranger - was firing multiple arrows from her Power Bow and taking out Putties left and right. To her right, Trini Kwan and Billy Cranston, in their Yellow and Blue Ranger forms, held their weapons in a defensive position as they held off more Putties.

"One Saturday," Kimberly growled. "Rita can't even let us have one - lousy - SATURDAY!"

"Tell me about it," Trini muttered. "I thought "no rest for the wicked" was just a fancy saying."

The Putties advanced menacingly...until...

"DRAGON DAGGER!"

A green flash of light tore right through them, leaving nothing but dust behind. The others turned and saw Tommy Oliver - aka the Green Ranger - with his Dragon Dagger grasped firmly in hand. "Sorry, I'm late guys."

"What are you apologizing for? You came right in the nick of time, dude," Zack said, hefting his Power Axe onto his shoulder. "Bonus: you probably pissed Rita off too."

"But that's the thing," Billy interjected. "I don't think this is Rita."

The others turned to him, shocked expressions under their helmets.

"You want to run that by us again?" Kimberly asked.

"Think about it...it never took us this long to bring down Rita's Putties. And they seemed...smarter. They separated us, and then utilized swarm tactics to wear us down and move in for the kill. Either Finster is getting smarter or he's taking orders from a new master."

"Who could be worse than Rita?" Zack groaned.

"You really want an answer to that?" Tommy replied.

"We'll cross that bridge when we come to it," Jason said, his Ranger suit disappearing in a flash of red light as the others morphed back to their civilian forms. "I'm going back to the Command Center...gonna try and keep looking for Zordon."

"Jason, that's the fifth week in a row you've been at the Command Center," Trini said softly, placing a hand on his shoulder. "You need to rest-"

"I'll rest when Zordon's back," Jason said shortly, shrugging away from her.

"But what about your parents? From what Alpha and Saba told me you spend nights there, and they have to be worried-" Billy began, until Jason whirled on him.

"I'm the leader of this team, Billy! That means I have to be ready for anything! And in case you hadn't noticed, Zordon's missing, somebody probably worse than Rita is after us, and we fought a psycho version of Tommy - who for all we know could be planning to come back and kill us all! I'd figured you of all people would be smart enough to see this is a big deal!"

The Blue Ranger flinched, as Zack stepped up. "Dude what is your problem?! Billy was just trying to help-"

"I'll see you guys later," Jason cut him off by pressing his wristwatch and disappearing in a flash of red light. Five very confused - or in Zack's case, angry - Power Rangers were looking after him. Trini immediately noticed that Billy was looking at the ground and walked to her friend. "He didn't mean it Billy, he's just...under a lot of stress."

"Doesn't give him the right to be a weapons-grade asshole," Zack growled, kicking at the ground. "I swear, Jason needs a girlfriend."

Another Earth.

The Hikawa Shrine.

"ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND?!" Rei Hino shrieked.

Unaffected by her outburst, her father Takeshi straightened his tie and continued. "Not in the slightest Rei. And do keep your voice down - it's unbecoming of a lady."

The raven-haired miko resisted the urge to point a very unladylike finger at her father. "You barely show up in my life and now you're telling me...you arranged a marriage for me behind my back?" she spat out.

"Yes," Takeshi fixed her with a stern look. "I won't be around forever. And I want to make sure my only daughter is taken care of-"

"That's a load of crap," Rei growled. "You're just doing it to further your own career. If you really cared, you'd let me marry whoever I want instead of some puffed up pretty boy-"

"ENOUGH!" Takeshi slammed a hand on the table, causing Rei to flinch slightly. "The matter is closed. You will be meeting Hiroto tomorrow, and I expect you to behave." And with that he turned and left, not noticing the literal flames dancing in Rei's eyes.

Four girls approached the Hikawa Shrine, watching the gray haired man stepping into a limosine. "Is that...?" Usagi Tsukino asked.

"Rei's dad, yeah," Makoto Kino replied. "Heard he's a real jerk."

"Makoto!" Ami Mizuno scolded. "You don't know that for sure-"

Her words were cut short as she caught sight of their friend. Rei was furiously sweeping the grounds as if the dust was one of the many enemies the Sailor Scouts had fought, while her grandfather looked on worriedly. The other girls walked over to him. "Jiisan, is Rei-chan ok?" Usagi asked tenatively.

The older man looked at them. "Ah, girls...I take it you saw her father leaving?" They nodded, and he continued. "Well, he said he intends for her to be married."

"Married?!" gasped Minako Aino, her eyes turning into stars. "That's so romantic!"

Suddenly, Makoto pulled Minako out of the way as the broom Rei was holding sailed right at her head. It struck the wall and shattered in half.

The four turned and saw Rei glaring at them with a rather murderous look in her eye. "Tell me Minako...is it romantic for my father to arrange a marriage with someone I've never met?"

"Arranged? I...I didn't know..."

"Clearly you've been hanging around Usagi for too long," Rei spat as she stormed off.

"Hey! What the hell is your problem?!" Makoto shouted, striding forward and grabbing her fellow Sailor Senshi by the arm.

"And what did I do?!" Usagi shouted indignantly.

Ignoring the outburst, Makoto continued. "I get it. You're pissed at your dad. But you don't have to take it out on us."

Rei's violet eyes wavered...before hardening with fury. She jerked her arm out of Makoto's grasp and stormed toward her room...

Another Earth.

The Power Rangers Command Center.

"Everything set?" Jason said, taking a sip from the mug of coffee next to him.

In another section of the Command Center, Alpha 5 finished screwing in the last metal place on a black boxy contraption. Saba, the enchanted saber, rotated himself and flew at the box so that his blade inserted neatly into a slot. "Ready," the living weapon said.

"Ai yi yi, I hope this works," Alpha fretted as he threw a switch.

Bluish-white energy crackled through the room, as a blast of energy lanced out of the machine...

The Angel Grove Juice Bar.

The other Rangers sipped at their smoothies, watching Zack ferociously hit a punching bag over and over.

"So...odds on him imagining that's Jason's face?" Kimberly asked, trying to break the ice.

"I don't blame him, Jason has been locked in drill sergeant mode lately," Trini said.

"Think of it this way," Tommy replied, counting points on his fingers. "There was the Drakkon incident, where Billy and I learned he died to save the world. Then Zordon - who he looks up to - vanished. And now we've got a new breed of Putties after us. If I were him, I'd be stressed out too."

Suddenly, the Rangers' communicators beeped. Zack stopped, answering his. "Alpha, what's up-"

"Ai yi yi, come quick Rangers! The cross-dimensional portal Saba and I have been working on...we may have found Zordon!"

"On my way!" Zack raced over to the others as Tommy tossed a few bills on the table. In flashes of black, blue, green, pink and yellow they vanished.

Another Earth.

The Hikawa Shrine.

A major flash of light ripped open the sky, forcing the Sailor Scouts to shield their eyes.

"That looked like it came from...Rei's room!" Usagi gasped. Immediately they raced forward toward the source of the light...

In her room, Rei dabbed furiously at her eyes. Suddenly, bluish-white light surrounded her.

The Command Center.

The other Rangers appeared, just as a flash of light forced them and Jason to cover their eyes. Slowly the light started to dim...

Jason looked up at the tube where Zordon usually resided. "Zordon?" he called out tentatively.

But the Power Rangers' mentor didn't reply. Because his tube was still empty. "Damnit..." the Red Ranger growled. Then he noticed the other Rangers staring at him. "What?"

"Uh...Jase you might want to turn around," Zack said.

Jason stood up and turned to face...

...Five girls who were the same age as him and the other Rangers. There was a blonde with her hair done in a style that resembled...meatballs? Another blonde stared in awe, her hair sporting a bright red ribbon. He noticed the tall brunette with the ponytail was tensing up, easing for a fight. The blue-haired girl had what could only be a starry expression in her eyes. And the last...

Jason, being a male teenager, couldn't help but notice how gorgeous she was. Long, flowing raven hair...fair skin...and violet eyes that felt sad and angry at the same time. And then those eyes met his.

Rei glanced over the six teenagers that faced her and her friends. One was a brunette with glasses, a thoughtful look on his face. An African-American teenager stared at them warily. An Asian-American with jet black hair and wearing yellow whispered something to a brunette in pink. And a tall boy in green was shifting into a fighting stance. Then she looked at the final boy. He was...handsome? With brown eyes that seemed tired...worried even. But they sharpened into focus.

And met hers.
