Japan: town of Kouh

Our story starts off in front of an orphanage with a 7 year old boy with short spiky brown hair, two short locks of hair behind his head, and light brown eyes. His name is Issei Hyoudou, he was just like any other adventure seeking kid despite living in an orphanage he lived a normal life even after his parents died in a car crash, thankfully he was able to get past his depression thanks to a girl named Irina Shidou, who he quickly became friends with, however due to some family business, she and her family moved away leaving poor little Issei alone.

"I miss Irina I hope to see her soon." Issei whimpering about not being with his close friend.

While he say was feeling down a woman who seemed to be around the age of 20 to 25 Wearing a black gothic dress with a purple ribbon on the back and had long black hair walked up to him.

"Oh hello can I help you?" Issei asked curiously.

"Why are you alone?" The woman asked with an emotionless expression on her face.

"I don't have any friends well I had one but she left." Issei replied with a tear threatening to come down.

"Any family?" The woman asked another question.

"..." Issei looked down saddened.

Seeing that Issei wasn't responding the woman came to the conclusion that he had no family, so she came up with a suggestion. "If you want, I can be your family."

Issei eyes shot up as he was given a second chance to start over. "Really!?" He asked excitedly.

The woman nodded her head in confirmation.

In the midst of all the excitement Issei then remembered he didn't even asked the woman's name. "Oh I forgot to ask your name, my name is Issei what's yours?"

"My name is Orphis child, from now on we are family." Orphis said this with a small yet heartwarming smile.

Issei was feeling as if he felt life again and begun to hug his new mother.

"There there Issei would you like to see your new home?" Orphis asked while patting his head.

"Yes please." Issei replied with excitement.

Orphis then conjured a magic circle "Woah you can do magic?" Issei asked excitedly.

"Yes I can do you wish to learn?" Orphis asked.

"Definitely!!" Issei replied with his eyes looking like stars.

'Maybe its time for me to not be alone anymore.' Orphis couldn't help but make a small chuckle at the site of the boy.

"Very well, step into the circle and we will be home in a matter of seconds." Orphis then extended her hand to Issei who then accepted and the two teleported away from the orphanage.

3 Years Later

Orphis' mansion in the underworld

Within 3 years Issei was now 10 years old, when Issei was first brought to Orphis' mansion she had no clue how to raise a human child considering that humans and dragons were obviously different from each other. So she would occasionally sneak into the dragon's territory in the Underworld, ruled by Tannin, the former Dragon king to see how the families raised their hatchlings.

To her surprise, although they were different races, they were very similar to how humans raised their young, albeit there are differences such as teaching them how to fly, fire projectiles from their mouths be it fire that's hotter than lava, streams of ice, poisonous acid or even bursts of bio electricity. Not to mention controlling their powers and other dragon related things. However, she saw them helping them learn to walk, talk, playing with them whenever they could and also let them play and socialize with other hatchlings just like how humans take their kids to parks and they play with one another. She even saw some dragons teaching their kids proper manners and etiquette that might be useful in the future. Others are teaching their young how to fight as dragons.

Seeing the younglings play together made her think 'Hmm, in terms of fundamental lessons, I can teach him well. Social relations however may prove to be troublesome.' Orphis has spent most of her life in solitude and hasn't really had any interactions with many people. The few have only been the members of the Khaos Brigade that joined her but they weren't really social interactions, just business.

Luckily for Orphis she was able to teach all the things she knew about the supernatural world, if he was in a school and she was the teacher she would say he passed with flying colors. Orphis told Issei about every myth and legend there was.

The Dragons getting scarcer and scarcer being reduced to either in sacred gears, hiding within their lairs, becoming the savage Evil Dragons, or becoming servants of "lesser beings" in Orphis' opinion, even mythology religions that exist, the Norse, the Greeks, the Yokai faction, the Hero faction ect. But most importantly she taught him about the three main factions: the Angels, the Fallen Angels, and the Devils, Orphis then continue to explain of how God created these devices called sacred gears.

"What is a sacred gear?" Issei asked wondering what they are.

Orphis begun to wonder how to explain 'I'll just explain it in human terms.'

"A sacred gear either a weapon or a tool depending on what kind it is, for example there's a sacred gear called Twilight Healing, it is a pair of rings that allows the user to heal anyone regardless of their race, be it angels, fallen angels or even devils."

"Tell me Issei, do you wish to have a sacred gear?" Orphis asked.

Issei's eyes widened as if he saw a shooting star "Are you kidding me? Of course I want one!! I want to be as strong and awesome as you!!"

Issei said this while Orphis had a small blush creeping on her face while looking away from the fact that her adopted son called her awesome.

"I see, in that case hold up your right hand." Issei did as he was told, after that Orphis conjured a ring made up of ebony, having a violet jewel on with a carved eye of a reptile on it.

"Here you go Issei your very own sacred gear it is called Dark Embrace, once your strong enough you'll be able to unlock your balance breaker and wear your scale mail armor, it contains a fragment of my soul in it to help and guide you whenever I'm not there for you."

Orphis placed the ring on his index finger as she was explaining.

"Cool!! I promise I'll try my best to get as strong as I can." Issei declared this with a firing passion in his eyes.

"I know you will but right now it's time for you to sleep since now it's getting late and you'll need your strength for your training tomorrow."

"Right!" Issei then ran straight into his room and begun to sleep with the thought of becoming the strongest there is.

Issei's mindscape

When Issei opened his eyes he saw purple fire all around him, to he honestly didn't know what to think but then he heard a deep male chuckle that sounded like it was behind him. Once he turned around he saw a pitch black dragon that had two horns on its head, a barbed tail and spikes running down its back as well as having violet eyes.

"So this is my new host as well as my new brother, it seems mother chose a very interesting one indeed."

"Wow! So your the dragon thats going to help me whenever I need help, my name is Issei what's your name?" Issei asked.

"I already know who you are, the moment the ring got on your finger I skimmed through your memories, as for me well I don't have one unfortunately, guess it's safe to assume you have the luxury of giving me a name."

Issei begun to wonder for this dragon was not only his new partner but also his brother so he had to think good and hard to come up with a good name, but then seconds later it hit him, his black scales.

"I got it your name will be Cole because of your scales what do you think?"

"Hmm naming me after my scales huh, not bad I accept I suppose I should introduce myself. I am Cole the Shadow Dragon: The Black Dragon Emperor." Cole accepted his new name with pride as he announced himself formally.

"Wait so if your a dragon, does that mean mother is also a dragon?" Issei's question was met with a ball out laugh.

"HAHA quit pulling my leg surely she would've told you of who and what she is."

Issei just stood there silent.

"Wait she really didn't tell you!?" Cole asked with a little shock in his tone as Issei simply nodded.

"Well to put it simply our mother, Orphis is known throughout the supernatural world as the Dragon God of Infinity."

"So.. um... why do you think she didn't tell me befo-" as Issei was about to finish his question his mindscape began to shake as if there was an earthquake.

"Hm seems you're waking up if you have any questions you should ask mother, at any rate talk to you later brother."

Issei's room

As Issei wakes up on his bed he looks to the left and sees a set of chess pieces that had the head of a dragon on each one and they were all glowing purple. "Wait, are these what I think they are?"

"You did say you wanted to have your own peerage when I explained the system the 3 factions, specifically the Devils use correct? Well these draconic pieces work exactly like that except these pieces will turn your future followers into dragons instead of the usual devils." Orphis explained as she gave Issei a hug, placing the king piece in him and kissing him on the forehead.

"Why didn't you tell me of who you were?" Issei's facial expression looked as if he was about to cry as he asked the question.

"Ah so it seems you met your new brother but to answer your question, I simply didn't want to scare you." Orphis looked a bit ashamed at the fact that she hid something from the person she not only took under her wing, but also grew to love despite being an entity without much emotions.

"Issei now that you have your sacred gear as well as your draconic pieces, tell me, what is your new goal in life?" Orphis had a serious tone in her voice when she asked the question.

"For now I want to become as strong as I can so I can protect the ones I love, I don't want anyone to suffer what I have."

"As expected" she says while reaching her hand out with something resembling a snake coming out of her hand.

"Using one of my snakes, I shall grant you some of my power to help you reach this goal of yours. But remember this, one day I'll need you to help me with my goal."

"And what's that?" Issei asked curiously.

"My goal is to defeat Great Red and return to the Dimensional Gap otherwise known as my real home." Orphis looked out the window as she was explaining. Issei nodded his head considering she saved him from being alone for the rest of his life, the least he can do is help her.

He reaches to her hand and takes this snake of hers. Once contact is made it gets absorbed into his body and he can feel power flowing inside of him. He almost collapses from the sudden power that he had absorbed. But thats when something interesting happened.

A bright purple light was forming around Issei, it was so bright that Orphis had to cover her eyes.

{Shadow Dragon Balance Breaker}

Once it died down Issei was now wearing black scaled armor with 4 violet jewels 2 on his shoulders and the other 2 on his midsection, the helmet looking like a dragon with the visors having a dark violet color, near his tail bone was a spiky tail and on his back there appeared to be two purple wings with the parts that look like scales were black.

"Interesting, it seems my assistance has allowed you to unlock your balance breaker."

"This is so cool!! But how do I get out of it?" Issei asked confused.

"All you need to do is imagine your armor disappearing and it will happen."

Issei then did as instructed and without a moment later the armor started to disappear as his power begun to settle down a bit.

Orphis was pleased that her adopted son was getting a lot stronger faster than she predicted. "Sadly Issei, I must go attend some business, I will come visit you every now and then to see how strong you have become, but promise me something."

Issei looked in Orphis' direction "Yes what is it Orphis?" He asked.

"Promise me you will become strong. You are my last true hope to finally regain my silence."

"I promise Orphis, I will return your kindness by returning you to your silence." He replied.

"Thank you Issei. I'll see you soon." And with that Ophis flew away. At that moment he didn't know where he was going to go. He wasn't sure how he could survive on his own, but he was sure about one thing. He will return Ophis to her silence again. To do that he must get stronger, luckily he had his brother Cole to hep him.

Mansion Courtyard

Issei can be seen practicing in the courtyard of the mansion with his mother Orphis to utilize his breath attack. Every time Orphis came to visit Issei she would help train him in everything dragon related A day after giving Issei his sacred gear Orphis offered to make them blood related, Issei was obviously confused by what she said. She explained how she can fused his DNA with her own genetic makeup, Issei then accepted the offer without a second thought since it would deepen their bond as mother and son.

He gathered as much power as possible in the core of his stomach and then expelled the flame outwards. Unfortunately, the results were unsatisfactory for Issei. While Orphis praised him to be able to generate a roar that could annihilate any 4 winged devil, fallen-angel or even angel especially for a child of only 10 years of age, Issei felt his attack lacking as it did not give the impact he saw his mother's breath do.

"What am I doing wrong, mom? I'm doing exactly as you told me yet my own power is not doing what I wanted." He started complaining to his mother which she found absolutely adorable. Ophis really enjoyed whenever Issei holds a tamper tantrum although she would never tell him that so she simply giggled at her son's display.

"I want to be as cool and strong as you in order to make you proud." Issei said.

"I understand Issei but what you are talking about is more along the lines of motivation. You must find something worth treasuring with your entire being. Dragons are beings of fearsome might especially when protecting that which they hold dear. It can be literally anything my son.

For Tannin, it's the continuation of the dragon's race. For the Heavenly Dragons Ddraig and Albion, it's their rivalry to one another. For Fafnir, it's the collection of treasures he collected over the centuries. Even a lust for battle as seen with the Evil Dragons are the source of their almighty strength.

Each one of them have something that they would dedicate their entire being to. You just need to figure out what it is. I cannot help you in that regard. This is your journey, your life and will be up to you to figure out what you want to be. And for the record Issei, no matter what type of dragon you wish to become or how powerful you are, know that I will always, for all eternity be proud of you because my treasure, that I hold dearest, is and always has been you."

Ophis added as she formed a wonderful smile towards him. This cause Issei to cry a bit as he went and hugged his mother so happy to have her support and love no matter what.

"Now then back to your training."

"Yes ma'am!"
