It was almost midnight and Maya and Josh were in his apartment watching TV, Josh was stretched on his couch laying on his back and Maya was laying on top of him, she could listen to his heartbeat.

Josh didn't get along with his roommate in NYU so he got a part-time job so he could afford his own apartment next to college, it was small but it was decent and his very own place.

Since her 15th birthday Maya started spending most weekends with Josh in his apartment, her parents were now so ecstatic that they found out they were pregnant they weren't paying so much attention where she spent her days, which would have upset her if it wasn't so helpful to spend more time with Josh, and even if they went suspicious Riley agreed to help her best friend by telling Katy and Shawn that Maya was hanging out with her.

Not that they wouldn't have approved her relationship with Josh, both knew him since he was a baby and really liked him, Maya just didn't like the idea of adults judging them or making questions.

That's why when they were together she rather stay inside his apartment and just spend time with him, it was easier for Josh to ignore their age difference when it was just the two of them.

But Maya wanted more

As Maya searched for the right moment to talk about it she seized the opportunity by sticking around him, sometimes she said she needed to be away from home because her parents were fighting, her mother being all hormonal and stuff, it was far from the truth she and Shawn were going just fine, but Josh was being so nice letting her spend her Saturday night with him, sometimes que even made dinner (or ordered it) specially for her, because he knew what she liked.

It seemed like there was no "perfect moment" she just needed to have the talk and now that it was so calm in his living room Maya decided to just take the leap.

"Josh" Maya said

"'Sup?" Josh said, still looking at the TV

"May I kiss you?" Maya said in a whisper-like tone

Josh's heart started racing and he looked at Maya with slightly shocked expression

"Maya, we talked about it, we're not supposed to date until you're 18" Josh said calmly

"You're the one who said "date" Maya said as she adjusted her position on the couch so she was face-to-face with Josh. "You know what I feel about you is not just crush, I really, really like you Josh even if I'm not ready to say the "L" word yet, and I'm pretty sure you want it too, you've been so close to me these past few weeks, I almost feel like I live here with you, and... I notice the way you look at me sometimes, or when you touch me, even if it's just on my shoulder or around the waist because you are too polite to try touching anywhere else."

Josh stayed quiet, just staring at Maya as his face blushed

"I'm not necessarily asking you to date me, although I definitely wouldn't hate it" Maya said as she went a little bit closer to him. "I just want to kiss you, and if you say you don't want it then it's okay I'm just going to have to accept the fact that you only see me as your niece's best friend and that you didn't mean what you said back in the Ski Lodge and I'll move on. But I really don't want to move on..." she said as she tried her best not to weep thinking about it

"Maya... I did mean it, and I don't you to move on or lose what we have but can't it wait 3 more years?" Josh asked with worried eyes as he cupped Maya's face with his hand

"No Boing, it can't. I broke up with Zay because even if I really liked him something was preventing me from actually falling in love, like a little voice from inside my chest saying "don't do this" Maya said as she passed her fingers through Josh's hair and stared at his honey eyes "and it wasn't fair to him. That's when I realized I won't ever be able to fall for anyone else... because I'm already fallen for you, and if what I'm feeling is real then I need an answer from you right now or I'll go insane"

"I... had no idea, I'm sorry I made you feel that way" Josh apologized "look, sometimes I also feel like waiting for you is painful, because what we have is special"

"So does this mean...?" Maya asked

"Yes Maya, you can kiss me" Josh said as he stared at her mouth

Maya then closed the little distance between their faces and kissed Josh with all the passion she had bottled up. He immediately responded to that with his own accumulated feelings and desire for her, those he was willing to resist for her sake even if it felt like a torture to him to do so, but now he realized Maya could be just 15 years-old but she for sure knew what she wanted, she was confident, mature and quite a vixen. Josh knew society would hardly approve their relationship due to the fact that he was in college and she was still in high-school but being this close to her felt so good he wasn't afraid of what others could think, he was definitely sure that he wanted to be with Maya.

Maya then broke the kiss and said "wow... *panting* that was nice..."

"It was the best kiss I ever had!" Josh said what in his heart he knew it was true

"Well thank you Boing. Ditto. Although I can't say I have a lot of background to compare to" Maya said with an awkward smile on her face

"Maya, what if... we forget the wait?" Josh suggested "I never made a move on you, even if I really wanted to, because I feared it would be a mistake, not for me but for you. I didn't want you to do anything could make you regret trusting me, but you were the one who did it, and you didn't even just do it out of nowhere you had the maturity to talk to me about how you were feeling, I finally let it happen because I realized how certain you were of what you want" he said so while staring directly into her sapphire eyes and with a slight smile on his face

"Do you mean it?" Maya said with a wide smile.

"I do if you do, and I promise I won't pressure into doing anything you don't feel like doing, we'll go at our own pace" Josh said to Maya and he truly meant it

"So, do we tell people about it?" Maya asked

"Yeah I think it would be better if we did it, although there is no need to yell it to the whole world, just those it concerns to" Josh said and he hoped she understood what he meant, even if he wasn't afraid of what people thought of them being together it was still a delicate subject

"That would be both our parents, Riley will most likely be happy for us. She is like our original shipper" Maya said as she thought of her best friend's sunshine personality "so, just to make this clear, this means we are a couple now?" Maya asked with a smirk and a raised eyebrow

"Well to make it official..." Josh intertwined their fingers and looked straight to her sapphire eyes "Maya Penelope Hunter, would you like to be my girlfriend?" he said

"More than anything in the world, Joshua Matthews!" Maya said with a huge smile on her face

And they kissed again
