Characters aren't mine, but the story is.

Rolling her eyes as the insistent knocks on the door, Kendall Hart-Slater crossed her living room and pulled opened her door. "What the hell is this? Old home week?" she asked as she glared at the man on the other end.

"We need to talk," he said simply.

"Umm... no, we don't. Haven't in years," she shot back.

Rolling his eyes he shook his head: "You're not still holding that against me."

"Why shouldn't I, Del?" she asked as she crossed her arms over her chest and glared at her ex husband. "It ruined our marriage and I could've ended up. . ."

"So why haven't you busted her if you still are holding that grudge?" he shot back.

"Do we have to do this now?"

"Well, why not? Has to be taken care of sooner or later."

"I'm not talking to you in a courtyard," she answered stiffly.

Smirking, Del pushed his way in: "I was hoping you would say that."

Inhaling a sharp breath, Kendall slammed the door: "What do you want with me?"

"An explanation. A warning. When are you going to blow my sister out of the water?"

"So, she really is Di then, wasn't sure," Kendall answered annoyed. "And why the sudden concern? Need another kidney?"

"Oh, funny."

"Besides, what the hell do I care? She can blow her own self out of the water."

"You hated her."

"I hated the things she pulled. She ruined our marriage. She schemed and almost got us both sent to prison. But why should I blow her out of the water? It'll be more fun watching her implode. Seeing Adam and Tad and JR taking her down when they find out. Besides, it'll be pay back for a couple of other people as well."

Del laughed: "You always have a plan, don't you?"

"No. Sometimes, you don't need one. Now, are you done?"

He shrugged: "how about diner?"

"How about you go to hell?"

"Come on, you blamed her for the breakup. Maybe now with some time. . ."

"Kendall, are you about ready?" Zach called as he came into the apartment.

"Gee don't knock or anything!" she chided as she turned, "and no. I'm not. I got side tracked."

"We have to be at the casino to meet. . ."

"I know. I know. I need five more minutes."

"Which translates to fifteen," Del put in, earning a glare from Kendall and a questioning look from Zach. "Del Henry, Kendall's ex."

"Zach Slater, Kendall's husband," Zach answered sincing his wife's annoyance and ignoring the surprised look on the younger man's face. "Hope you don't mind, but we have to meet Erica and I really am not in the mood to hear her complaints, so if you don't mind?"

"Yeah, right. Nice seeing you Kendall."

"Good-bye Del," she answered stiffly watching him leave. "What?" she asked at Zach's questioning look.

"What did he want?"

"He's apparently visiting his sister. Wanted to see if I was over some of. . . look I have to get ready. We don't want to keep Erica waiting," she evaded as she started to the bedroom, "and Zach?"

"Yeah?"

"As much as I appreciate the save, next time. Knock."

"Right," he answered with a knowing shake of his head as she went to the bedroom to finished getting ready, all the while wondering what trouble this man would be bringing with him, but knowing better than to ask.
