Author's Note: I've watched all 4 Danganronpa games and I felt bad for the characters being taken their life away from them. So, an idea came to my mind and I decided to crossover it with Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

WARNING: This story contains some major spoilers of all Danganronpa games, so if you haven't played/watched/finished the game yet, it's best to turn back if you don't want to be spoiled. And if you wish to continue, then proceed at your own risk.

By the way, this story takes place after Chapter 2 of 'Members of the Multiverse Travelers'. Read that one first before reading this one.

Chapter 1: Successful Escape

Kaede and her friends are panting heavily after going through a lot of obstacles in the tunnel. They are now standing in front of the giant vault door.

"We had arrived." Shuichi breathed. "After walking through that awful tunnel that seemed infinite, we finally reached it..."

"So, is this the exit?" Kaede wondered.

Just then, Monokuma popped out of nowhere, and he's… sweating a lot?

"I-I can't believe you guys actually beat that escape game on the hardest difficulty…!" He spoke shakily. "So… frustrating…! But… I must… celebrate it!" His face then brightened up. "Congratulations! The exit's this way!"

Everyone was confused to see Monokuma celebrating their success instead of stopping them.

"Huh?" Kaede spoke. "R-Really? The outside world is just beyond this door?"

"Yep!" The mono bear nodded. "Monophanie said so, didn't she? There is indeed an exit. And on the other side, the outside world you guys have been so desperate to see!"

The group went silent for a couple of seconds and began to cheer in excitement and happiness.

Kaede sighed in relief. 'W-We finally did it! We can get out!' She thought happily. 'We worked together as Ultimate students and finally made it out!' Then, she turns to Shuichi, who nodded in accomplishment, then to the group, who were busy celebrating for their successful escape. 'But that's not the end for us, is it? After we get out, we're all going to stay friends.' And she turns back to the door. 'Beyond this world, there has to be something that's even more amazing! If I think of it like that…then this is just a new beginning.' Then she breathed deeply. "Alright! Hurry up and open the door!"

Monokuma immediately complied as he pressed the button. The vault door opened slowly and a very bright light peeked out, causing everyone to shield their eyes.

When the light died down, everyone was shocked, their jaw agape and eyes wide. The surroundings were silent once again.

"What… Wh-What is this?" Kaede broke the silence.

"…Puhu. Puhuhuhuhu." Monokuma chuckled. "Whaddaya think of the outside world?" However, he was not paying attention to the exit, as his eyes were on the students.

"This is… the outside world?" Shuichi murmured; his expression unchanged.

"What's with that face?" Monokuma taunted. "This is the ending you guys were hoping for... Now then, congratulations on graduating! Please take flight and re-enter society! Ah-hahahahahahaha!"

"No way…" Kaede breathed… then huffed happily. "It's so beautiful!"

That's when Monokuma stopped laughing, and noticed Kaede's happy expression. "Eh? What's with the smiles?" Then, he proceeded to turned around, and his jaw comically fell on the floor. "EEHHHH!?"

The exit before them was a lush green field with colorful trees, and a vivid blue sky. Flowers were swaying along the gentle breeze and birds were flying through the clouds.

Everyone's surprised expression turned into amazed and awed ones.

"Wow! I didn't expect this to be pretty!" Tenko gushed.

"Kehehe. Oh, the beauty of nature suitable with the beauty of humanity!" Korekiyo smiled under his zipper mask.

"Gonta happy! Gonta get to live in outside world!" Gonta cheered.

"Nyahahahaha! Atua has saved us!" Angie exclaimed happily.

"Finally! Now we can get out of this killing game!" Miu sighed in relief.

"Come on, everybody!" Kaede ushered as she walked through… and disappeared.

"Wait, where did she go?" Keebo asked.

"Nyeh… This must be magic." Himiko muttered tiredly, yet happily. "Must be a magic portal or something."

"I don't know, but it must be more exciting than staying here!" Kokichi exclaimed.

"Kaede, wait!" Shuichi ran to the portal as the rest followed suit… except for Tsumugi, who stayed behind, and Rantaro, who noticed the cosplayer.

"Hey, aren't you going?" Rantaro asked.

"Huh?" Tsumugi flinched. "Oh, okay."

Rantaro and Tsumugi went through the portal before it closed.

"This… can't be…" Oh, yeah. Monokuma was still there, his expression still unchanged for the whole time then snapped. "That was supposed to be a ruined city!"

"Sixteen... students?" Joie murmured, and her expression turned into panic. "Sixteen students! Azriel, close the portal, now!"

"Huh? What about-" Azriel was about to ask, but...

"Just do it!" Joie interrupted him.

"Okay, okay! No need to panic, geez!" Azriel ran towards the portal as it turned back into the cube and picked it up.

"Joie, what's wrong?" Jewel asked.

Joie then looked back at the students, who have awed and amazed expressions, and they don't seem to be worried about going back to their universe... except for one girl with long blue hair and glasses. That girl had a horrified expression, and she was gazing at the group... except for Joie, Ashvini, Azriel, and Jewel.

"They looked like they don't care about the universe they came from." Eleven mused.

"I agree." Eight nodded. "Their expressions seemed like they finally went out of prison or something."

"I know these guys." Joie muttered.

"You do?" Ashvini asked, surprised.

"Yes. They're the ones... who escaped the killing game!"

"Killing game?" Ashvini asked. "They escaped the killing game?"

"Yeah." Joie nodded. "That's why I made Azriel close the portal so that the mono bear won't chase them."

"Oh, you're the one who brought us here?" The girl with the pink vest asked. "Thanks."

"You're welcome, though I randomly thought of your universe." Azriel grinned. "What are your names by the way?"

"I can elaborate. I just had research on them." Joie spoke, then she pointed at the girl with the pink vest and white backpack. "Kaede Akamatsu, the Ultimate Pianist."

She pointed at the boy with the black cap. "Shuichi Saihara, the Ultimate Detective."

She pointed at the man who was wearing his blazer improperly. "Kaito Momota, the Ultimate Astronaut."

She pointed at the long-haired girl in a red uniform. "Maki Harukawa, the Ultimate… Child Caregiver?" Said girl nodded in response. However, Joie knew that it was not her true talent.

She pointed at the girl in a blue uniform and a chainlike hairstyle. "Tenko Chabashira, the Ultimate Aikido Master." Said girl bowed.

She pointed at the girl with a witch's hat. "Himiko Yumeno, the Ultimate Magician, or… the Ultimate Mage."

She pointed at the girl with a yellow smock. "Angie Yonaga, the Ultimate Artist."

She pointed at the tall muscular, yet a barefoot man. "Gonta Gokuhara, the Ultimate Entomologist."

She pointed at the slim man in a military-like uniform. "Korekiyo Shinguji, the Ultimate Anthropologist."

She pointed at the girl in a pink uniform with her cleavage slightly exposed. "Miu Iruma, the Ultimate Inventor." (with Azriel speaking "Wow, she's an inventor too?")

She pointed at the girl dressed as a maid. "Kirumi Tojo, the Ultimate Maid."

She pointed at the boy with a rather small height. "Ryoma Hoshi, the Ultimate Tennis Pro."

She pointed at the robot with them. "K1-B0, or rather known as Keebo, the Ultimate Robot."

She pointed at the boy with a checkered scarf. "Kokichi Oma, the Ultimate Supreme Leader."

She pointed at the boy with short curly green hair. "Rantaro Amami, the Ultimate… Adventurer?"

And lastly, she pointed at the girl with long blue hair, but her expression turned serious. "And Tsumugi Shirogane, the Ultimate Cosplayer."

"That sure was a lot of them." Sonic mused.

"How did you know about our names and our talents?" Kaede asked.

"As I said before, I had a research on you guys. I'm Joie." Joie introduced herself. "And these are my friends, Ashvini, Azriel, Jewel, Sonic, Kirby, Eleven, Eight, and Sephiroth."

"So, what's this killing game you escaped?" Jewel asked the students before them.

"Yeah, that sounds like an awful game not suitable for children." Kirby added.

"I can explain." Rantaro spoke. "It is the game where we were forced by Monokuma to play. One has to kill another without finding out, and you get to escape, but before the culprit, known as the 'blackened' escape, we must initiate a Class Trial to expose them. If we failed, we all get executed except the blackened who will escape the game. If we succeed, the blackened alone gets executed, and the game continues."

"That indeed was awful." Eleven murmured.

"My thoughts exactly." Eight added.

"I'm surprised that you still know the rules, Rantaro." Kaede said.

"Yeah, let's just forget about that killing game and stuff!" Kaito exclaimed. "We're all out of there!"

"Right, and I don't wanna go back there with those degenerates." Tenko agreed.

"I agree with Kaito and Tenko here." Keebo added.

"You heard them." Sonic spoke. "You are all safe and sound in this world."

"And how did you all escape?" Ashvini asked.

"We all went to the tunnel with a deadly obstacle course." Kaede replied. "No wonder why it's called the Death Road of Despair."

"You… You aren't supposed to exist!" Tsumugi blurted. "You are all only fictional!"

"Huh?" Ashvini, Azriel, Jewel, Sonic, Kirby, Eleven, Eight and Sephiroth had confused expressions.

"Well, hello! We do exist!" Sonic yelled as he snapped his fingers twice. "We're standing right in front of you, duh!"

"I don't think she meant by that." Jewel said, then whispered to Joie. "I think she's referring to the video game characters."

Joie nodded. "Yeah. Tsumugi has yet to learn the multiverse." Then she cleared her throat. "Tsumugi Shirogane, what you are seeing is real."

"What?" Tsumugi furrowed her brows.

"You heard that right. Real. They do exist."

"But… They're just video game characters! I know video game characters when I see one! They're nothing but works of fiction to the outside world!"

"Outside world?" Ashvini asked. "You mean the real-life universe?"

"You know what I mean! There's no way they would exist!"

"Of course, there's a way… with the help of this world." Joie spreads her arms, referring to the world they're in. "The World of Creation, the world where other universes are made with the imaginations of the real-life universe!"

"Other… universes?"

"But I thought there was only one." Kaito scratched his head. "So, you mean that there are other universes out there?"

"Indeed." Joie nodded. "And that's what we call… the multiverse."

"Multiverse? But I thought it was just a theory!" Tsumugi exclaimed.

"This world has a power to turn fiction into reality. You see, we write stories and show it to the world, and that story will be formed into a universe. And now, everything is real, I mean, look at this!" Joie then referred to Sonic, Kirby, Eleven, Eight, and Sephiroth. "They came from different universes, and there's a universe that holds the Super Smash Bros tournament where competitors from various universes participate. If the multiverse doesn't exist, what is Super Smash Bros now, huh?"

"That makes perfect sense." Sephiroth agreed. "There would be no Super Smash Brothers tournament without the multiverse. If the tournament didn't exist, then I wouldn't meet my friends there."

"I agree." Eight nodded.

"Same here." Eleven added.

"But… but… that's impossible!" Tsumugi yelled. "This doesn't make any sense!"

Joie shook his head in frustration. "Ashvini, what did you say earlier while we were chatting together?"

"Everything here is possible." The fairy replied and repeated her words.

"You heard her!" Kaito chimed in. "The impossible is possible! All you gotta do is make it so!"

"See? Even Kaito agrees with us." Joie smiled.

"That's right! After all, this world has endless possibilities!" Sonic grinned.

Tsumugi was silent, her eyes wide and mouth stammering. She couldn't believe what she had heard. Then after a few seconds of silence, she spoke up. "I need a moment alone…" And she walks out of sight.

"That's some strange behavior of her." Eight tilted his head.

"And she called us 'video game characters' and she claims that they, or rather we, don't exist." Sephiroth recalled.

"Yeah, we're kinda aware that we really are video game characters." Kirby agreed.

"Neeheehee. It seems that the cosplayer girl was acting so suspicious." Kokichi spoke. "I can see it."

"I agree with Kokichi here." Ashvini said.

"Me as well, for once." Kirumi chimed in. "I've never seen her act like that before. She's just a cosplayer."

"Yeah. What's her deal?" Miu barked.

"But still, don't be fooled. Even a plain otaku like her hides something big and sinister." Joie advised.

"You know what everyone says, don't judge a book by its cover." Ryoma agreed.

"Like… being the mastermind of the killing game?" Shuichi guessed.

"I was thinking the same thing too." Kaede spoke.

Joie nodded. "Probably. But I got other things in my mind right now."

"What is it, Joyie?" Kirby asked.

It took a moment for Joie to answer, "We're going to save the other students who got in the same situation as them."

"What? There's more of them?" Sonic blurted out.

"Yes, and this marks as our first Multiverse Adventure."

"Ohoho! I've been waiting for this!" Jewel excitedly spoke. "I love adventures after all!"

Joie giggled, then turned serious. "But we need to have a plan."
