Chapter 1: Lily's Visit

"James!" cried pout an incredibly handsome 16-year-old boy. "Wait up!" James Potter turned around to face his best friend.

"Sirius!" he replied happily. "How've you been?"

"Fine mate, how bout you?" answered Sirius. James stood silently for a moment before saying "Lily turned me down again" Sirius gave him a sympathetic look, and then suddenly lit up. "Look over there Jamsie! It's old Moony!" James brightened up a bit too and the duo rushed towards their pale friend.

"Hullo Remus," said James pleasantly. "How's the furry little problem been?"

Remus Lupin sighed. "Same as it's always been mate." He said sighing again. He looked up. "Well then! Let's go to our compartment now, shall we!" James and Sirius followed him towards the train, pulling their trunks along behind them. Soon they reached the compartment they had used every year, ever since first year. Sirius led the way, singing a very off-key song about ducklings. Remus, who happened to be directly behind Sirius, winced and tried to block out the wrenching notes while still carrying the trunk. Soon they reached their compartment all the way in the back. Sirius slid the door open, took a step into the compartment, and stopped dead in his tracks, his trunk falling rather painfully on one of Remus' feet. Remus winced again and carefully kicked the heavy trunk off his toes, wondering what on earth Sirius had in there. He then peered into the compartment to see what Sirius was looking at, and his mouth dropped open in surprise. James, not to be left out, dropped his trunk and wiggled over closer to the door, pulling it open as far as it would go; and he was so amazed he nearly fell over. He steadied himself on Remus' trunk and blinked a few times to see if he was dreaming. There, in his very own compartment, in a mass of gorgeous red hair, sat Lily Evans.
