Continent of Sanus/Forest/Day
The sun loomed high over the evergreen forests below. While up above, the clouds painted the sky like strokes of white upon a canvas blue, as animals went about their day — completely unaware of the mysterious stranger who appeared suddenly amongst them.
A certain blocky individual had emerged out of a portal made of bedrock and End energy. Clad in enchanted Netherite armor. He stopped for a moment as he looked upon his new surroundings. It didn't look like the familiar Overworld he'd called home for most of his life, but seeing the possibility of a new adventure; he took his first tentative steps out into this New World.
The figure walked on as he viewed the new biome he found himself in with mild curiosity. Everything seemed much more… detailed than he was used to. Less blocky and more shapely, if he tried to describe it. With the trees themselves being more alive as the leaves swayed with the wind and the branches rustled with movement as small critters — birds, he assumed, had stood perched upon them. An interesting oddity.
He paused in his steps for a moment. Wondering if his abilities here would function the same way, he needed to know. If he were to make another home here, as he usually did whenever he went into New Worlds, then it would be the first priority on his list.
He looked around and spotted the perfect target. A large Oaken Tree by the looks of it. Standing mightily in the midst of the forest, easily reaching a height of 40 blocks tall when he measured it with his own items.
He headed towards the tree and began to size it up. Wondering how much wood he could take out of it when he was done. He began thinking on what kind of new items he could make out of this new material. Exotic trees such as this would have been popular with the Villagers he'd known back home.
He summoned forth an axe from within his inventory. The tool was made with Netherite, much like his armor; though given enchantments to improve its efficiency when cutting, increased durability for all the work he'd put it through and an increase in sharpness for when he needed it as a weapon. A bit of a waste in his opinion to apply the latter enchantment — but it proved useful to him when he escaped a few hairy situations while out collecting wood back home.
Axe, now in hand, he moved to strike. Finding it surprisingly easy to cut through the trees in this dimension. But, what surprised him was what happened after. While he was used to items falling, he had never witnessed it happening to a tree before. He'd seen the likes of sand and gravel fall as they were the rare few affected by gravity. But never trees or mountains and such. Another oddity to this dimension. One he'd have to take into account in his construction efforts here. He stood still for a moment, shocked at what he'd just seen. The tree before him fell with a thud as it hit the ground. Landing with a loud almost thundering slam when it collided with the forest floor.
Making a mental note to remind himself that trees seemed to be affected by gravity, he pressed on. Continuing to chop the wood and sending the material to his near weightless holding space he called an inventory.
Continent of Sanus/Forest/Night
The man had finished building a quaint, by his standards, homestead. A simple structure built with the New World wood he acquired. His new supplies easily reached the hundreds in blocks worth as he stuffed most of them into hastily made chests within his new abode. A surplus just from one felled tree — though he took it upon himself to replant the saplings to replace the fallen tree. He didn't want to run out of reusable supplies.
Afterwards he'd spent the afternoon building his new home within this dimension. The structure was now furbished with a bed, furnace, a crafting table, and an anvil situated inside the upper floor. The lower one being dedicated entirely to chests and supplies he had begun sorting out as soon as he felt safe by adding some light. His home now illuminated by the glow of torches, he set foot outside to do the same. But as soon as he set foot outside, he noticed that night had finally fell upon him.
Night came, many long hours after he'd arrived. Taking a lot longer than he was used to — what would have passed in days back home, seemed to only be a few hours here as he stared at the moon. He stared numbly at the celestial object high above.
Its broken form was hauntingly beautiful to the man. Though it bothered him that it was shaped oddly. It looked far too smooth and rounded for his liking, though the fact it was damaged had made that unnerving feeling he had staring at it minimal. The fact it was broken had overridden any irrational fears he would have had staring at a shape incomprehensible to his mind.
What could have caused such a thing? He wondered. Something he would likely come to investigate in the future.
His musings were stopped dead in their tracks however, when he heard a faint growling noise off in the distance. Summoning forth his axe again from within his inventory, the only tool he had on his person after leaving much of his personal effects on the inside of chests back home. He held it out at the ready, torches held on his off hand providing the only illumination in the darkness that surrounded him.
To an outside observer, he looked almost comical. Standing stiffly out in the forest at night as his blocky form made him appear out of place in contrast to the environment. He was soon face to face with the creature who growled at him. Appearing black as the night its skin appeared to be, bony plates dotted throughout had given it some form of armor. A predator. It lunged at the man as it finished sizing him up.
He laid down a single torch before him before its attacks hit, attempting to drive it away with the light, to seemingly no avail. It continued to swipe back, only to be swiftly met with the sharpest axe its kind had the displeasure of encountering. Cleaving through muscle and bone as it began to dissipate afterwards. The corpse of the creature fading before the man could take a closer look.
Odd, but not unusual. The mobs he slayed tended to do the same, though they just popped out of existence instead of slowly fading like whatever this creature did.
It didn't seem to drop anything, not even those orbs which flickered green and yellow — giving him experience. It simply vanished before his eyes leaving nothing to indicate it was ever here, except for a few broken branches and shrubbery from where it leapt up and at him.
Disappointed. The man left a torch where its body used to lay. Signifying his first kill in this New World.
Continent of Sanus/Forest/Day 2
He slept soundly. For the first time in what seemed like forever, he felt refreshed. An unusual feeling for someone as busy as he. His earliest memories was him waking up in the forest and learning to thrive in it. Exploiting the land around him to suit his purposes. Here? He'd learn to do the same.
Over the years living in the Overworld, Mobs learned to fear him, Animals had bent to his will and Villagers became quite amiable with their trade. He lived a good life he supposed, if he ignored the bad stuff; like repeatedly dying in his early days.
Something he couldn't grasp his mind around yet. He'd died before, and he was sure he'd come back again if it happened once more. But he wasn't sure why. He'd never really stopped to think about it before and he decided it wasn't the time to do that now. He noticed his hunger acting up for the first time since arriving. He didn't like starving, it was always unpleasant. He needed to find a source of food, but he only had a few seeds on hand, barely enough to start a small farm. His trip to The End to slay the Dragon had necessitated leaving a lot of his tools and farming gear behind.
Should have brought some more bread with you or some meat of any kind. He thought to himself. Most of his foodstuffs had been consumed during the fight with the great beast. Potions were nice and all, but cooking meat was far easier and could be done faster.
Having made up his mind on what he was to do today, he got off his bed and grabbed his gear. He had to acquire food. The easiest way to do so? To Hunt.
Finding prey was an easy thing to do in these lands it seemed. Game was far more abundant here than in any other realm he'd set foot on. Only the Overworld could seemingly compare. This many animals out and about all at once reminded him of home once more. But here, he was amazed at the sight of it all. Such diversity of life, creatures and fauna alike made this New World feel much more lively.
By the time he'd returned home, he'd brought back meat from local deer, pigs and rabbits. The former, an animal he was unfamiliar with, it was reduced to its base ingredients all the same. He found it was delicious. For the first time, he'd tasted food. Not for basic needs like keeping his health up, but for the taste of it. It was crunched and chewed in his mouth with an excitement he hadn't shown for many years. The excitement of trying out something new.
Finished with the hunt now, he turned his attention to a small plot of land beside his new home. An area he had flattened to allow for such a place. He tilled the soil with a hoe, he filled a ditch with water alongside it as he planted his seeds. Content for now that he would not go hungry here, though he'd have to wait for the fruits of his labor to bear fruit, as he hadn't seen any skeletons to make powder and expedite the process. He'd had to decide on something to do while he waited.
He went back inside and went through his chests. Finding ingredients and material he didn't have a use for at the moment he felt somewhat bored. Thinking for a moment whether he should abandon this place and go back home through the portal he came here with. But he didn't want to come back empty handed. He turned through every chest inside his storage room before reaching the last one.
A chest filled with his mining gear, pickaxes, torches, ladders, buckets and such were stored inside. Perhaps he should go mining. He thought to himself.
Continent of Sanus/Underground/Day 2
Noticing that the area he was in was seemingly bereft of caves he decided to start digging. In a pattern reminiscent of a staircase, he dug down and down and down until he felt he was at a good distance underground. He couldn't tell exactly how deep he had gotten, but the increasing warmth of the depths told him he had gone down far enough. With a swing of his pickaxe he started digging through the dirt horizontally, placing torches to his right to indicate his direction back where he came and back up to the surface.
On his journey through the underground, he'd found the usual material he was familiar with. Coal, Emeralds, Gold, Iron, Diamonds even to name a few. But what surprised him the most was a few unfamiliar ones interspersed among his new collection of precious gems and metals.
Colorful crystalline like objects which seemed to display some elemental affinity. Something he learned the hard way when his pickaxe struck a red one dead on and exploded violently in his face. Nudging a bit of health off of him, but he healed back up after a few bites of cooked meat.
After the fact, he'd managed to recover the unexploded bits and found even more of them the deeper he went. His mind began to race at the new possibilities this material could offer him with as he held them in his hands. And he couldn't wait to find out.
Author's Notes: Felt like writing something lighthearted after experiencing a bit of burn out. Probably not something I'm gonna expand upon, feel free to adopt this if you want.
Update 1: Expanded on this. I do plan on adding more chapters. Eventually.
