Peter pushes Abby to the ground outside the warehouse.

"This is where I found him," Peter said. "Where you shot him in cold blood."

"You'd have done the same thing in my situation," Abby said.

"Where's the money, Abby?" Travis said.

"I'll never tell."

"Then you'll die here."

"I'll die here anyway."

Peter crouches down in front of her.

"Do you really feel no remorse? My brother loved you."

"Sure I do. But it was ten million. Ten million dollars, Peter. People have done much worse for much less."

"I've had enough."

Peter stands and pulls out his gun. He aims at Abby's head.

"STOP!"

Everyone freezes. Abby looks up — Mike is standing there.

"Don't hurt her," Mike says. "Please."

Peter stares at Mike. "Who have we here?"

"I'm a friend of Abby's."

"A friend?"

"More than that. I mean… I love her. I can give you money, I can get you whatever you want. Just don't hurt her."

Peter finds this very amusing. "You love her?"

"Yes, sir."

Peter laughs. A big belly laugh, he's really getting a kick out of this.

"You clearly don't know her very well."

"No, but I know she's a good person."

Peter laughs harder. "A good person?"

Mike is confused. Out of his depth.

"Let's see what a good person she is," Peter says. He pulls Abby to her feet.

"I'll give you a choice," Peter says to Abby. "I'm going to count down from five then I'll squeeze the trigger. The gun is currently aimed at you. You can push my arm to aim it at him instead. Then I'll give you a 15 second head start."

He cocks the gun, aimed right at her head.

"Five."

Abby looks at Mike. Mike is still confused, but steadfast in his knowledge that Abby is a good person.

"Four."

Abby's head is full of noise.

"Three."

Memories of Carter, memories of Mike. The killing. The kissing. Love. Death.

"Two."

She has to make a decision. Is she who Peter thinks she is, or who Mike thinks she is?

"One."

She makes a split-second decision. She pushes Peter's arm, until it's aiming at Mike. Peter pulls the trigger and shoots Mike in the chest. He falls to the ground, bleeding.

Abby runs for the SUV. She remembers the keys are still inside.

She jumps in and turns on the engine, then speeds away.

Mike lies on the ground, losing the battle to stay awake. He stares up at the stars — they're lovely, the way they twinkle. The edges of his vision go black. His whole body is in agony.

Where did it all go wrong? How had he been so wrong about Abby?

He slips away, to the great Magic beyond.
