Author's Note: No I don't have any plans to do spider-verse or something, this story was already been planned out to start to finish. Sorry in advance.

Vol 1, Chapter 2: A Spider's Bite

Naruto had awaken to the sound of his old alarm clock blasting it's sound. The blonde sighed as he turned to his side to silence the machine.

He reluctantly lifted himself out of the bed, and put on his glasses as he made his way to the mirror.

With his shirt off Naruto viewed himself in disappointment, over the summer Naruto decided he'd work out and build some muscle. Or at least he tried to, he exercised, eat healthy and took protein shakes but the end result isn't anything too impressive. He looked like he kept himself in shape sure but as far as having anything to show off, he was still afar ways from that dream.

Naruto sighed and got dressed, he turned to the mirror one last time and said to himself "Today's a new day, believe it." His own personal motto he came up with some months ago to get by the days.

Naruto walked out of his room to the bathroom to brush his teeth and wash his face.

He then walked downstairs to the sounds of a computer's keyboards being pounded at.

"Oh, up early in the morning like always aye Naruto?" Jiraiya said.

Naruto looked to the man who raised him and smiled with a nod.

This is Jiraiya, or Uncle Jiraiya as Naruto called him. After both Naruto's parents died in an airplane crash when he was 4 years old, Jiraiya being a long time friend/mentor to his father Minato Namikaze he became Naruto's legal guardian. Together they've been living in Naruto's parents house since they're deaths.

After living with Jiraiya for now a little over 12 years Naruto can say he's overall he's a okay parent. Not too strict and not too carefree either. He can say he learned a lot from him, somethings more important than others but Naruto swore to himself he's never going to inherent none of Jiraiya's worst habits.

Like drinking before 12pm, getting threwn out of clubs, bringing home stray women. And a whole list of things, mostly related to women. Not that he did those things for no reason.

See Jiraiya is a freelance manga artist from time to time but his real source of income is as an adult novel writer. He's the author of the popular series called Make-Out Paradise, or how Naruto bluntly put it when he once decided to read a book: "Over glorified porn with a plot." Easily Jiraiya then named Naruto one of his biggest and harshest critics.

So for that and various other reasons, Naruto tried hard to hide the fact that he lived with the author of those books. Still didn't stop the embarrassment he'd feel when brought up time to time.

But all and all, despite the differences the two had over the years they had grown to love one another like real family. Naruto was grateful to Jiraiya for all he had done for him and Jiraiya in return was proud of the young man Naruto was growing into.

"Yeah I wanted to be ready for today." Naruto said as he fixed himself some breakfast.

Jiraiya stopped typing for a moment as he remembered what today was "Oh yeah, today is the big trip isn't? To the place your father used to work."

Naruto sat down at the table and began eating while answering Jiraiya's question "Yes, Root Industries. It's so exciting to see where Dad used to work at. The best part we're having the tour is even going to the department he was in, the genetics department." Naruto said with clear excitement in his voice.

Jiraiya chuckled, Naruto like Minato too, he had a real talent in science. And whenever a topic like this would come up he'd always have a certain shine in his eyes.

"But with that being said, I just remembered I have something for you." Jiraiya said reaching into his back pocket.

Naruto raised an eyebrow "Something for me? What a super early birthday present?" Naruto said, being that Jiraiya only got him a gift for his birthday or Christmas.

Jiraiya chuckled as he pulled the item out of his pocket "Here."

Naruto's widen as he saw his father's old ID card. He slowly took it from Jiraiya's hand and stared at the photo on the card "...Dad..." Naruto whispered.

Naruto looked at the picture hard, his dad looked so young. Probably because he begun working at Roots in his early 20's and died before his 30's.

Jiraiya gave his nephew/godson a sad smile "Sorry, I know you probably weren't expecting to see a picture of your old man today. But with you're coming up field trip today and all, I'd thought it would be appropriate to gave this to you now." He said but wondered if this was the right time.

Naruto was full of emotion right now. He didn't know what he'd feel once he got to Root Industries, he was excited when it was first announced but now "I..." He started as he sighed and ran his hand through his hair.

The blonde teenager slumped his head for a moment. There was a thick air of silence between the two for a few minutes but then "Thank you, Uncle Jiraiya. I appreciate it." Naruto said as he picked his head up with a smile.

"Naruto." Jiraiya said his name in surprise at the smile he received. But soon smiled back in relief and laughed "You're quite welcome!" He then looked to see the time "Well you've got time so in the meanwhile...how's about you give your an opinion on my newest book: Make-Out Tactics!" He loudly announced with a perverted grin.

Naruto's sweat dropped as his face cringed "I don't think so."

"Now! Now! Being one of my most brutally honest critics I'll love to get your opinion first! And I'm never gonna released a preview in the net ever again, especially after what those tasteless bastards on Reddit said." He shivered at the memory of how harsh the internet can be.

Naruto had a annoyed and disinterest look on his face as his godfather continued to rumble on about how this novel was going to be a return to his roots and raunchier scenes than ever before.

Later In The School Bus

"Out of all the places we could have for a field trip...an amusement park, a swimming pool or the beach maybe? Nope we get stuck going to a damn science lab!" Kiba said as he pouted with his arms crossed.

Shino looked at Kiba "You know Kiba, school field trips are suppose to be educational so..." He said.

Kiba rolled his eyes "Yeah well whatever!"

Hinata chuckled at their interactions but stop when she saw a certain blonde approaching them "Naruto."

Kiba and Shino then turned their heads as Naruto now stood in front of them "Good morning guys...Hinata." He said with a smile but slight blush in his face thinking to myself "If Neji hadn't shown up, what would had happened?" Still having thoughts about yesterday.

Hinata's face then lit up as she remembered her words from yesterday. "Yes good morning to you too." She said in a small voice, while avoiding eye contact.

As the embarrassed pair stood while exchanging small glances at each other, trying they're hardest not to look in each others eyes.

Shino interrupted them "Did something happened?" He asked.

Suddenly they're were snapped back to reality "No!" Naruto deny quickly.

"That's right! Nothing happened..." Hinata followed up while she frantically waved her hands defensively.

Kiba looked at the two suspiciously, he long knew Hinata liked Naruto so he wondered if the two of them did something to advance their relationship. Naruto was the smartest he'd ever and going to meet but he wasn't sure if he knew of Hinata's feelings. So out of respect for their Hyuga friend, everyone agreed to keep quiet but did secretly cheer Hinata on.

So if something did happened, then good. If not, then still it wasn't exactly his business either way.

Shino looked at the two's reactions and looked to Kiba for an answer but the Inuzuka only shrugged his shoulders.

"Okay everyone to your seats! We'll be moving out in two minutes, I repeat we're heading out in two minutes. So to your seats now!" A teacher announced to the bus full of students as they quickly took to their seats.

"Guess all we do is make the most out of this trip ay guys?" Kiba said in a bored tone as he slumped back into his seat.

Naruto shook his head "I don't know Kiba, I think this trip will be an enlightening one." He said with a smile as the bus began to drive to their destination.

At Roots Industries Entrance

"Thank you for the ride, brother."

"Yeah, thanks Itachi."

Itachi smiled at the two in the back of his car "You're welcome, little brother and you too Sakura."

Sasuke and Sakura had gotten a ride from Sasuke's older brother Itachi Uchiha who was Sasuke's legal guardian after their parents died when he was just 12 and he 17.

It was hard to raise Sasuke at such a young age but the support of his family and Sasuke being so mature for his age the two managed to make it through. It also helped Itachi got a scholarship and landed himself a job right when he got out of college.

And now his current job was none other then being the lead researcher in the genetics department at Root Industries.

"Well then today's a day off so I'll see you two later." Itachi said as he bid the two a goodbye.

Sasuke nodded as his brother drove off and Sakura grabbed on his right arm "Do you think the others are here yet?" She asked.

Sasuke then turned his head to the buses coming in, he could see his fellow Konoha High students making their ways off of the bus.

It wasn't long until they saw their friends getting off and they made their way over.

"Kiba! Naruto! Hey guys!" Sakura said to them as she waved with her free hand.

The group turned to them "What's up Sakura!" Kiba said as he waved back.

Naruto's face stiffen as he saw Sasuke, which didn't go unnoticed by Hinata. She wanted to say something but chose to stay silent for now.

But Naruto then sighed "Today is a new day." He said in a whisper. The blonde then put on his strongest smile on his face and waved to the couple "Sasuke, Sakura hey!"

Sasuke raised an eyebrow at his friends actions but nodded in acknowledgement.

Sakura smiled and said "Naruto! You're in a much better mood today."

The glasses wearing blonde nodded "Yeah sorry if yesterday I looked like I was down. But I'm better now as you can see." He said.

Seeing his signature smile on his face made Sakura sigh in relief but Sasuke looked on Naruto with suspicion. Yesterday he couldn't even bring himself to look him in the face, what brought this change in attitude?

"There you guys are." Shikamaru said as he and Choji came walking to the group.

"Oh hey, I was wondering where you two were." Kiba said "And with that the gang's all here. So who's ready for the worst field trip ever!" He announced with his hands waving.

"Kiba..." Shino said a disappointed voice.

"You're always complaining about school, then you get a day off and you're still complaining! Are you ever satisfied?" Sakura said with her hands on her hips while shaking her head.

"Come on! Like I said earlier why can't we go to a beach or something you know...fun! I can't be alone in this!" Kiba said as he looked for support.

"I personally don't care." Sasuke said coolly.

"I don't mind either." Hinata followed.

"Whatever gets me out of the classroom for a day." Shikamaru shrugged.

"Just a day of walking around and free food at the end? Sounds good to me." Choji commented.

"I'm grateful to wherever we go." Shino said.

"I've been looking forward to today so." Naruto said as he looked to Kiba "Looks like you're on your own buddy."

Kiba's jaw dropped as he realized not a single person agreed with him "Unbelievable. Seriously are you guys even teenagers?" He hung his arms in defeat.

The group then shared a laugh at Kiba dismay but in the distance a certain platinum blonde was looking at the group with a mix of envy and annoyance. She sighed as she listened to her friends gossip and shit talk about the trip. Looking at what she called the glue of the group. Naruto Uzumaki was the school's biggest loser yet he always looked like he was having more fun than her.

"Annoying." Ino said with a glare.

Inside Of Roots Industries' Genetics Department

"Okay everyone I'd like to welcome you all to the Genetics department. I'm you're tour guide Iruka Umino." The dark skinned man with a scar along the bridge of his nose, and his hair neatly tied in a ponytail. But the most obvious thing about his appearance was the missing left arm.

"I've worked at Roots Industries for about a little over 5 years now. And I'm excited to give you all a look at one of our recently revived projects." He started "But before that can everyone here give me an answer of what genetics are? And why it's important to study." He asked the students.

In this group only Naruto, Hinata, Sasuke, and Sakura remained from their circle of friends. Since the whole class of seconds years were here on tour so they had to split them into group taking turns touring different departments of the company.

"Come on don't be shy. Anyone, anyone at all?" Iruka continued to ask the group.

The group of students simply avoided eye contact and stood silent hoping he'd just drop the question.

Iruka sighed, knowing someone probably knew the answer but was either afraid of being wrong or peer pressure stopping them.

He gave up hope until one individual raised his hand "Genetics is the study of unique traits that are passed down to parent to offspring. And we study it to understand why current traits are passed down from one generation to the next, also to understand the theory of evolution and why it happens." He said.

Iruka blinked his eyes a few time to make sure he heard correctly. "Yes that's correct." He said in astonishment, who was this blonde student? He was surprise that he knew the answer as he was sure most did but didn't speak up. Rather the in-depth answer he received that really surprised him.

Caught in his amazement Iruka snapped back to his senses "Yes well thank you! With that being said you will all now understand our latest project here at Roots. Come all now I'll show you." He said as he led the group down the hallway and into a blue room.

The room was large and filled with cages with live animals with computers displacing their names and species.

"Wow look at all the animals." One in the group said.

"Cool!" Another spoke.

"Nothing cute though." Said a female.

"No cute ones here but the animals you're seeing are special in the animal kingdom. Each having they're owe, in a sense, superpowers." He then pointed with his one arm to his personally favorite "Like the lizards there. They have the ability to regenerate almost any part of it's body. We're especially spent a lot of time studying them."

Sasuke then asked "So what's the point of this room again? What are you trying to achieve?"

Iruka smirked "Happy you asked young man. Here's the room of the Cross-Species Project, and you lot the are the first we're showing to." He explained.

That caught Naruto's attention "Wait Cross-Species?" He'd heard that name before.

The tour guide nodded "Yes, the goal of this project is to learn the genetic makeup that allows these animals to have these powers with the hopes of one day giving them to humans like you and I." He told them, the students gasped in excitement hearing this.

"No way! So like you can give us powers like animals?"

Iruka nodded in response.

"Could I breathe underwater like a fish?"

"Can I crawl on walls?"

"Oh I wanna fly!"

Iruka chuckled at their antics "Yes, yes. In theory all are possible in time that is." Iruka then looked to the lizards again "But for now we're focusing on more realize things like the ability to regenerate things like lost limbs..." He says as he looks to his missing left arm. "This is my passion project, I want to help change the world with this. I want to heal people and give them back everything they've lost, cure diseases and ailments all over the world. That's my dream as a scientist." He finished as he flashed the students a bright smile.

The group was taken back a bit by his words.

"Wow that was actually really cool..." Sakura commented, blushing at the man's passionate words.

Sasuke looked to his girlfriend "Cooler than me?" He joked as she then turned around, her face red from embarrassment as she playfully jabbed his shoulder.

Naruto blinked as he listened, this Iruka Umino reminded him of his father. The drive, passion, and the ambiguous dreams his dad had. "They're one of the same." He thought.

"What's over here, they look like spiders." One student asked.

"Eww spiders!?"

Iruka nodded as he lead the group to the showcasing "Ah yes. What we have were our genetically engineered spiders we created here. The ones you're seeing don't exist in nature. We took the strongest genes from hundreds of different spider species and combined them into one. We've dubbed them super spiders." He explained to them.

"But why spiders? Why not something like a dog or cat? Yeah a super cat would be awesome!"

Iruka chuckled at this "Yes that would be awesome but unlike cats and dogs, spiders rarely mix breeds so we thought they'd be perfect to start with." He smiled while looking at the spiders "And I have to say the results are most impressive ,but with this revolutionary breakthrough we could potentially create artificial super well anything." He then looked to the time "Ops! Looks like we spent a bit too much time here. Come along now students and lets finish the rest of the tour." He hurried them with a wave of his hands.

Naruto though didn't feel like leaving just yet. He remembered going through his father's notes in a box he found in the basement of his parents' house. Project: Cross-Species, was in big red bold letters on a file containing the information on the very thing standing in front of Naruto right now "But why? Why isn't my dad being credited for anything!?" He wondered with a displeased face.

"Naruto...we should get going the group is leaving." Hinata told the blonde.

Naruto was halted from his thoughts as he looked to see Sasuke, Sakura, and Hinata all standing waiting for him.

Naruto seeing this then smiled and said "You guys go ahead...I wanna stay for a bit longer." He told them "Cover for me?"

"What!? But the tour Mr. Iruka said..." Sakura started.

"Please Sakura...I dad used to work in this place." He said with a sad smile "His was actually originally his work, his legacy. Being here makes me feel like I'm...I don't know, connected to him? I just need to see what he left for a little longer."

"Oh Naruto." Hinata softly spoke his name while giving him a sadden look.

Sakura too looked empatheic and Sasuke frowned, understanding his words for he too lost his parents.

The raven haired sighed "Okay, I understand." He said.

"Sasuke."

"No one should notice one person missing but be quick." He then looked to the females "Sakura, Hinata. Let's hurry, they'll definitely notice if too many people are gone."

The two nodded as they began to walk but looked to Naruto one last time.

"Thanks you guys." Naruto said bowing his head as they left. Making sure they were out of the room Naruto then walked to the spider showcase, he placed his hand on the door. "Wish I could go inside." He said as he noticed a card lock on the door handle.

It then hit Naruto "Wait that's right!" He then reached into his back left pocket and found his father's old ID work card "But would it work?" After all Minato died over 10 years ago, wouldn't they had erased his for their systems? Well there was only one way to find out.

Naruto then slipped the ID though the slot and waited. Suddenly he heard a beep and saw a green light at the door opened "Holy crap, it actually worked." He said he stepped inside.

"Whoa so you guys are the products of my father's work." He looked at the colorful spiders "Incredible I wish he was here to see this." He remembered how his father had a whole section dedicated to spiders. "Being here now, looking at all of you. I'm starting see why dad liked you guys so much. You're loners, don't need anyone for anything and you have the strength to fight." He chuckled "Wish I was like you."

Unknown to Naruto, one of the super spider had long escape it's cage was slowly making it's way to Naruto's hand. It landed on his right and stealthily crawling it's way to the center then taking bite.

"OUCH!" Naruto yelled as he felt intense pain shooting through his hand. He then instinctively slapped his right hand with his left "What the hell?" He said as he felt he hit something. He then slowly opened his palm "Oh shit...oh shit!" He cursed as he realized he just killed one of the spiders "But why was it outside of the cage? Why'd it bite me?" He asked but had no time to question what had just happened as he heard voices in the background.

Naruto's face went pale as he quickly brushed the spider's corpse off of his hands and closed the door behind him. As soon as he made such the door was locked he bolted out the room.

Once out he then looked for his group went, luckily they hadn't gone far. He then silently power walked to the group and slipped to the back.

Sasuke and his friends noticed him "Back already? Thought you'd be gone longer." He asked.

Naruto was slightly sweating and lightly panting as he answer "What!? Yeah, I didn't need long." He said as he avoided eye contact with the others.

"Are you okay? You look like you've seen a ghost." Sakura asked as she noticed Naruto's reddening face.

"No, no! I'm fine!" He responded in a panic.

Hinata now had a worried look on her face "Are you sure Naruto?"

"Yes! Just got a little excited back there. That's all."

Sasuke didn't believe him, his friend looked like he just committed a crime. He probably did something he wasn't suppose to be doing but for now he shrugged it off "If you say so."

With that the conversation ended and the tour continued.

Hours Later

Naruto sighed as he looked at his right hand and he could see the bite area was not swelling. He scratched his hand "Damn it." The pain had passed but he couldn't ignore the growing agitation. He had to keep his cool during the rest of the day but now with the touring finally over Naruto asked Sasuke if he could get a ride for Itachi to get home as soon as possible.

"What do I do? I don't think the spider's venom is killing me or anything but I can't tell anyone." He wanted to slapped himself for being so stupid.

"You're still here? Good I was hoping to talk with you." Iruka said as he approached Naruto.

"You're the genetics tour guide, Mr. Umino."

Iruka smiled at the young man "Please just Iruka is fine." He then asked "Did you enjoy our tour?"

Naruto nodded "Yes. Very much."

"You seem like a man of science when I first laid eyes on you, and also I'm still impressed by your answer earlier today. Still the best one I got all day."

"Oh really thank you."

"But also I couldn't help but notice you looked extremely like a man what used to work here along time ago. His name was Minato Namikaze, he and two others were the original founders of the Cross-Species project. You wouldn't happen to be related to this man would you?"

Naruto looked surprised for a moment "Yeah Minato Namikaze was my father actually."

Iruka smiled brightly "I knew it." He then walked closer to Naruto "Look I'm not suppose to say anything but the project desperately needs help. We've hit something of a brick wall and I you seem to have a good head on your shoulders, so basically I'm asking for your help." He explained.

Naruto's blinked in confusion "Seriously? Me?" He pointed to himself "But I'm just a high schooler, I know nothing about advanced genetics! Especially the level you're trying to achieve."

"But your father did...tell me Naruto, is it possible your father had anything notes or documents of the original project? Anything he left behind? We're close but we're missing pieces to the puzzle and I believe your fathers input is what we need." He then pleaded with the teen "I know I'm asking a lot. I'm a stranger you just met today and I'm asking for your father's legacy. But if you help me, and if everything is a success then I promise you one thing. That you and your father's names will be remember in history and you'll be paid in full after all is said and done." He then extended his hand "So what do you say?"

Naruto looked at Iruka's hand and reflected on his words. Naruto didn't detected a single hint of him lying, he didn't look like a bad guy but could he be trusted? After all, like he said he was asking for his father's life work. Would he keep his word and give his dad all the credit, or take it all for himself.

He then spoke "Mr. Iruka, you've a lot to think about. Came I maybe have some time to think about all you've said?" He asked.

Iruka nodded "Of course take as long as you need..."

"Naruto Uzumaki. I took my mother's surname." He introduced himself as he shook Iruka's hand.

"Nice to me Naruto. I hope you consider my offer in the future and we'll be said by side changing the world." He said while desperately hoping he'd take his offer. Because this Naruto Uzumaki standing in front of him might very well he his last hope.

Later Inside Of Itachi's Car

"Are you okay Naruto?" Itachi asked as he looked at the blonde through the front mirror.

Naruto's skin had became more pale and the sweating was getting worse and he even starting shaking.

Inside of the car Sasuke was in the passenger seat, Sakura was the back with Naruto but she was dropped off first. Much to the sickening blonde's dismay.

Never the less he shook his head "No, no. I'm fine just need to get home." He told him while still trying to hide his bite mark.

Itachi and Sasuke then exchanged glances but Sasuke just nodded, telling him to just go along with what Naruto wanted.

After a few more minutes they were in front of Naruto's house "Okay we're here. Get some sleep Naruto, if you don't feel any better you should go to a hospital okay?" Itachi said as he turned to talk to him.

Naruto though, relieved to finally be home barely paid him any attention "Huh? Hospital? Yeah! Sure well." He said as he hurried out of the car "Thanks Itachi, see you Sasuke!" He then ran to his front door.

The Uchiha brother watched him to make sure he got inside safely.

"What's wrong with him?" The eldest asked.

Sasuke shook his head "No idea, he was acting weird all day during the tour. But the way he looked...maybe had ate some bad food or something?"

"Yeah something."

Naruto meanwhile felt like he was at his limit. Feeling he might pass out at any moment he made his way up the stairs to his room but was stopped by a voice.

"Naruto you're finally home?" He heard Jiraiya's voice coming for the kitchen "You're right in time for dinner! Go wash up and I'll..."

"No thanks, I'm not feeling good. I'm going straight to bed."

"But I was making miso ramen! Your favorite."

No thanks." He said again he closed the door.

Jiraiya just stood the kitchen in shock "Turning down? He must really be sick."

Naruto's head was pounding, his heart was racing, vision blurred, and the world was spinning. He could barely walk straight as he made his way to the bed.

"Am I dying?" He asked himself as place his glasses into his dresser. He'd never felt like this before, he didn't feel pain but the blissfulness going through his body was unreal. "No just need sleep! Yeah...sleep...sleep." He whisper as he finally drifted off to his dreams.

Inside Of Naruto's Dream

"Can't I come with you?" A four year old Naruto asked as looked to his parents Kushina Uzumaki and Minato Namikaze.

The two frowned as they looked down at their son.

Kushina kneeled at his level "No Naruto, I'm sorry but you have to stay here."

"That's right champ, you have to watch the house while we're gone." Minato said as he placed his hand over Naruto's head "You're the man of the house while I'm gone. So much sure Uncle Jiraiya doesn't destroy the house with any wild parties okay?"

"I'm right here you know." Said a younger Jiraiya standing in the doorway "You two should get going, to not miss your flight. I got this, and I promise the house well be just as you left it."

"Right." Minato nodded.

Kushina stared sadly at her son as she placed a kiss on his forehead "We'll be right back in a few days okay."

"Promise?" The young boy said.

Kushina and Minato both smiled and nodded "Promise!" They both said as they turned and walked forward to a white blinding light.

End Of Dream

Naruto tossed and turned in his sleep "No don't go...you promised..." He mumbled.

Suddenly his alarm went off slightly waking him but with not feeling well rest enough he turned and slammed the snooze button. But with his new unknown strength he smashed the alarm clock.

Soon after Naruto had finally awaken. he blinked a few times feeling odd. His vision was perfect as if he had his glasses on already and all the sicken he felt was gone.

"Thank god." He said as he lifted himself up and looked to his dresser for his glasses but noticed his alarm clock was broken "What the hell?" He said as he grabbed his glasses.

But the moment Naruto put his glasses on everything was blurry. He put them down and look at the frames suspiciously, he tried to few more times but then concluded his vision was fine with them.

"Weird." He commented on the situation as he then reached for his phone, since now his alarm clock was now destroyed. He then saw it was 7:59 and he's skin went pale.

He now realized he had about a half and hour to get dress and walk to school, or rather run to school in this case. "Damn it!" He said as he jumped out of his bed and stripped yesterday's clothes he fell asleep in to a fresh uniform.

As Naruto took off his clothes he couldn't help but noticed his body felt completely different. More tone, and muscularly.

When he took off his shirt he caught himself in the mirror and couldn't believe what he saw "What the!?" He nearly shouted in disbelief "I'm...I'm...I'm hot!"
