I start a new story again because I need to have inspiration for others. I'm stuck at them very badly. For example I know the plot but the way for certain points is lost. Writing them is my goal though even if it takes longer than expected.
In the meantime, I do hope you enjoy this new story of Beyblade where we first follow Bladebreakers parents in this first part.
Enjoy :)
Chapter 1: End Of Summer, New Day And Absent Student
-With Bruce-
It had been raining all week but, in the end, raining had stopped and people started to go out. Summer vacation was ending and schools were starting the next day. Both elementary and secondary were built in the same building to save space and even the high school had been built to same building. For example, to make things easier the spring graduation party was held at the same time in both schools. It was one of Japan's biggest schools.
Bruce was waiting for the school to start because he was going to secondary school. There was six hours left of summer break. Like many other students Bruce had early time for bed and that's why he wanted to do more things before school starts. Fear and nervousness filled his body because Bruce had just moved to this town near the school and all his old friends had gone to different schools.
Bruce had gotten a list of books to buy from school through mail and his mother had given him the money to buy them. He could get new books from nearby store with cheap prize. He did have to make sure to buy the books on his own mother language because in school there was students with different languages.
It didn't take long for Bruce to arrive to the store and he stepped inside. He arrived at the worst time because entire store was full of students of different ages alone or with parents. There was a number machine for customers to take a line number and above the clerks' desks was a digital number sign. It read 79 and it meant a long waiting time. Store's staff had put out coffee, cookies, juice, chocolate and puns because of that.
Bruce stroked the back of his neck and went to sit down to wait for his turn. He could hear small children's voices around him and it made Bruce think of the past. Suddenly, a child fell on the other side of the room and began to cry. Bruce stood up and walked up to the child kneeling down and offered chocolate par.
'Should we dry those tears and have some candy?' Bruce asked with a smile. Child sobbed and took the chocolate slowly from Bruce hand. At the same time child's mother came and thanked for his help. As Bruce stood up while mother and the child left, he hit something or rather someone.
'I'm sorry. I didn't see you there,' Bruce apologized.
Black haired boy picked up his paper and books from the floor, 'It's okay.' Bruce looked at them and noticed that paper was the same as his but books looked like high school books.
'Are you in high school?' Bruce asked being curious as he is.
Boy glanced at his paper, 'Yeah. The first year.'
'I'm starting the secondary school',' Bruce stated.
'You must be nervous. One tip, study hard,' boy smiled. Behind the desk clerk yelled out, 'Number 98!' Bruce watched boy head towards the desk.
'I'm Bruce by the way! How about you?!' he yelled out after the boy.
'It's Shin!' boy answered with calm looking smile. Then he turned towards the clerk and went to get his books. As for Bruce, he had to wait a bit longer since there was couple more people before him.
Shin got his books, smiled towards Bruce and headed outside. The next person was yellow haired girl and it looked like she got same books Bruce supposed to get too but it looked like girl should be in elementary school. Books arrived quickly and girl turned towards Bruce and without a word walked past him outside. Next Bruce saw short brown haired who left happily after getting his books too and giving other people space. And lastly it was Bruce's turn and just like others he gave his paper to the clerk and got his books very easily.
While walking out of the store Bruce was thinking that should he take his books back home first before doing anything else but decided against it since there was only couple of hours free time left. Getting the books had taken way too long because of the lines in the store. Bruce went to buy couple snack pars and headed home. He could only take buss the half way because lack of money. He would have to walk the rest of the way. While waiting for the buss he saw the yellow haired girl and the brown-haired boy together with Shin and it made Bruce even more nervous than before some reason.
At home he was met with mother's food and father who had returned from work.
'Come eat Bruce,' his mother called out.
'Eat fast and get to bed. You have to wake up early tomorrow,' his father added. Clock was hitting at 9pm when Bruce sat down to eat. After the usual routine during the evening before bed, changing clothes and brushing teeth, Tyson dropped down on the bed. The next day was going to be exciting and maybe slightly scary at the same time.
-Next Morning-
Bruce woke up and wasn't tired even sightless. First day would last until 3pm and for that Bruce ate well and enough to last until dinner. His mother had packed some food into his bag.
'Have fun. You can get new friends by being yourself,' mother said. Father had already left for work and couldn't take Bruce to school. So, Bruce had to run towards the school but luckily, it wasn't too far away. At school gates he saw a lot of students going inside. Elementary school was on the right side, high school on the right and secondary school on the back when looking from the front door. In the middle was area for students from every school to hang out and meet each other.
Checking it out Bruce noticed Shin standing with the girl and the boy from before and decided to head towards them.
Shin saw him and smiled at him, 'Hey Bruce. You got here.'
'Yes, and hello,' Bruce replied back with a wide smile.
'Do you know him Shin?' girl asked and gazed at Bruce with calculating eyes.
Shin turned to the girl and introduced Bruce to others, 'Yes, here are Judy and Frank. His name is Bruce.'
'Nice to meet you,' Frank bowed slightly.
Judy also began to smile, 'I'm sorry if I seemed rude. I have a habit of trying to figure out people if you know what I mean.'
'In what classes are you?' Bruce wondered.
Shin answered this time, 'Judy should be at sixth grade but just like Frank she's smart enough to jump a year. There might be a chance you can get into same class with Frank too.' Bruce was amazed how some people were smart enough to do that and he was a little bit of jealous. Just then clock rang and teachers appeared to lead new students to their own classes. Bruce was lucky and got to same class as Frank as Judy went to other class.
Frank stated quickly, 'Let's see on the break.' Judy nodded agreeing and headed followed her new classmates towards the classroom.
In their own classroom Bruce listened to teacher to hear his own name to be called out.
'Welcome to your first class and first year here. Let's first see who are here with us,' teacher said firmly but with happy tone.
'Sara Brown?'
'Here.'
'Jack Smith?'
'Here.'
He heard many names when teacher called out, 'Bruce Granger?'
'Here,' Bruce answered raising his hands like others did.
'Frank Kimura?'
'Here,' Frank was sitting on Bruce's left side. They were sitting on the fifth row which was the third last row when looking from teacher's perspective. On the side next to the window was one empty seat though and Bruce glanced at it for a while.
Teacher called out the last name, 'Susumu Hiwatari?' and no one replied back. Then teacher noticed the empty seat too and sighed, 'Not here again.' That comment awoke Bruce's curiousness and he wondered what the teacher meant by that. He turned to Frank who just shrugged his shoulders while shaking his head. His attention had also awakened from that sentence.
Their first class was biology and each class lasted about 50 minutes. Bruce glanced at the empty seat many times during the class and let his eyes leave the seat alone after clock rang again. As he stood up Frank came to him.
'We could ask Shin if he knows something. If that guy is absent again, it means that he has been here before. So, Shin could know or heard of him. Bruce couldn't agree more and they headed out. They soon enough found Shin and Judy sitting on some benches in the hang out area.
'How did the first class go?' Shin asked.
'Good. Have you heard about the student called Susumu Hiwatari?' Bruce asked straight away.
Judy shook his head, 'No, I haven't. Why?'
'He's on our class but he wasn't present. Teacher said that he's gone again. So, our curiosity woke,' Frank told.
Shin glanced around, 'I have heard of him. He was on the same class as me back in the elementary school.'
Judy was confused, 'In that case he should be in first year of high school or vocational school. Why is he on seventh grade then?'
Shin sighed, 'Susumu has been on seventh grade three years in a row.'
'How is that possible?' Bruce was shocked. Frank and Judy stared at Shin with Bruce as well.
'I know that feeling. He would still be in elementary school if I hadn't been there to offer my help. Now, it's more difficult because he hasn't been in school.' Just then clock rang and start the next class.
'Let's continue later,' Judy stated.
After the second class it was time to eat. Bruce went to sit next to others around the circle table.
Judy continued the last conversation, 'When was the last time you saw him?'
'I don't remember exactly but I think during the time I was on seventh grade,' Shin said after thinking about it for a moment.
'So, three years ago. Didn't he come to school at all?' Frank counted.
Shin shook his head, 'At the start he came to school every day but he didn't study. After two months he came to school less and in the end, he hasn't come here at all.' Bruce listened to Shin and was confused. Susumu's behaviour was really weird.
'But I did see Susumu at one time in town,' Shin recalled.
'When?' Frank asked.
'Maybe around three years ago too,' Shin tried to remember while scratching his own head.
To that Judy threw an obvious question at him, 'How did he look? Or you know… feel?'
'Actually, now that I think about it… separated. Kind of sad when you think about it,' Shin replied. After eating they headed to their last three classes. Just like during the previous classes they didn't see Susumu all day. After school ended Bruce was wondering if he should ask about this from his mother. Maybe she had some advice what could be done.
At home his mother was in the kitchen, 'How did you first day go?'
'It went well. I do have a question though,' Bruce stepped in the kitchen. he watched his mother to sat down at the table with a bowl full of vegetables.
'Go right ahead,' she said with a smile and she listened to everything what Bruce had to say about the day.
'Did you have a student like this during your school years?' Bruce asked at the end.
His mother thought for a moment, 'I think I did. She had problems in the family. If I would be to judge, this Susumu could have some issues in his family or he just isn't interested in school and studying.' Bruce thought through those two options he had just heard when his father came home unusually early. After asking about it from him too, he agreed with mother but they couldn't do anything about it. After eating Bruce did his homework and think of the way to help Susumu at the same time. Even though Bruce hasn't met Susumu yet, he wanted to help somehow. He might have gotten this trait from his mother.
Do leave a comment and your thoughts about this.
Thank you and have a nice day :)
