Chapter One
Li Mei fiddled with her fans nervously. Soon the allied Han forces would be attacking the yellow scarves, because of the chaos they have caused, in a violent movement called "The way of peace" The yellow scarves were terrible people to her, but they also seemed to be very powerful. It would be her first time on the battlefield, and she could only pray for it to go well, and train as much as she could.
As she worried to herself, a light shaking snapped her back into reality. " Lady Mei?" said a husky, full voice. Mei quickly turned to the burly man in front of her. "We're supposed to be training." He said, slightly annoyed.
"O-oh, r-right" She stuttered " I guess I was thinking to much." The man looked at her, confused. "I'm guessing you're nervous about the coming battle." Mei nodded lightly. "I suppose so, lord Huang Gai." She stared at her fans for a few seconds. "We should get back to training." She muttered quietly.
Huang Gai nodded. "Right. The more training, the better" He got into a fighting position. Li Mei did the same.
After what seemed to be hours of training, Mei was excused to go to dinner. Soon, she was sitting beside a fire, looking disgustingly at her meal. She listened as she could hear men discussing something in a tent nearby. She thought she could hear lord Sun Jian's voice. She sighed heavily. "There are too many men here." She muttered.
The only woman she had heard of in the camp was the daughter of lord Sun Jian, Sun Xiang Shang. She looked like a tomboy, and seemed to be very confident. Mei scoffed. She had no desire to become her friend. And, at that very moment, she heard a voice come from behind her. "Hello" The voice said plainly. Mei resisted groaning. She knew that voice, it was Lady Sun Xiang Shang. I guess I'll have to reply.. She thought to herself, and turned to talk to lady sun.
"Hello" Said Mei politely. "You must be lady sun Xiang Shang" Lady Sun nodded confidently. "Yep! And you're Li Mei, if im not mistaken." Mei smiled. "Yes. It will be my first time in a battle." She held up her small cherry pink fans, and waved them around gracefully.
" I'm sure you'll do fine." Replied Xiang Shang. "The yellow turbans are nothing compared to the might of the Han army!" Xiang Shang smiled. This didn't help Mei much to boost her confidence. "I hope so." She whispered.
Xiang Shang stared at Mei's depressed figure, and there was an awkward silence. "So your weapon is the twin fans, correct?" Xiang Shang asked. "I believe there are two other girls here with the same weapon."
Mei looked at Xiang Shang with interest. "Oh, really?" "Yup. The Qiao sisters, I believe." Xiang Shang said. "I heard that they were almost never called by their real names as children, so they forgot their own names. SO they just go by Da Qiao (big Qiao) And Xiao Qiao. (Little Qiao)
"That's terrible!" Barked Mei. "Yeah. They really should think up new names." Said Xiang Shang, chuckling quietly. Mei was smiling happily now. At least she had found someone she could talk to. " Well, I think I should be retiring to bed soon." Mei brushed her skirt free from dirt, and stood up. "I'll see you later, then!" Said Xiang Shang, and waved as Mei walked off. I suppose she's not so bad after all. While Mei wasn't paying attention, she bumped into something, and fell back. "Ack!" She sputtered, and looked up to see what she slammed into.
" I'm terribly sorry, Lady Mei" Said a voice. She immediately recognized the voice. " Ah, it was my fault." She stammered, and felt herself redden. " Nah, I wasn't paying attention." Said the voice again. A hand reached out to help her up. "Thank You, lord Xiouhou Dun" Replied Mei, taking the hand, which pulled her up.
Xiouhou smiled. "Well, I must be going." He said in his usual calm voice. "Right. I-I should go too" She whispered, and ran off in embarrassment.
