Chapter 9

"Journal Entry #1:

It's been eight months to the day since I landed here in the Digital World, and it's unequivocally been the greatest time of my whole life. I've never been happier or ever felt this relaxed. I'm not really sure who ever might read these pages, but I thought it might be nice to keep some kind of record of my life here, blissfully detached from all mankind.

The same as everything else, just being able to write this was a challenge in and of itself. Nothing is readily available here on File Island, and everything has to be made, but I enjoy stretching my mind to figure it out. It ended up taking a week of scavenging, but I was able to find a plant growing pieces of paper. I hadn't known if the plant had existed, but since there's no rhyme or reason to what grows here, I thought there'd been a chance. A way to connect the pages together had been a little more difficult. Something like notebook rings I'd decided was too niche to have any chance of growing out there, so I'd had to find another way. What I finally did was to take the fibers from more ordinary plants, turn them into natural cordage, and then weave them together into a rope, allowing me to string these pages together. To write, all I had to do was to boil some of our wild berries, mash them up, and combined with a few other ingredients, and I've got natural ink.

Life as a whole has been pretty similar to that process. Just figuring out ways to either find or make what we need to survive. Maybe I'll go into the exact details of how Revemon, Meicoomon and I built our house some other time, cause that'll take a while to write out.

Daily life for the three of us is pretty simple. We don't really do much beyond gathering the provisions needed to live, but it's not all that hard. Thanks to Dragon Eye Lake, we have an easy supply of clean, fresh water. It also supplied us with a never ending supply of fish for food.

I think the Digital World must somehow be able to replenish certain things spontaneously. Only way I can think to explain how the lake has regular fish for one thing, and how the population hasn't decreased any despite all the fishing we do.

A typical day for us goes something like the following. Revemon and I wake up in our hammocks, and Meicoomon in the small, kitty basket I made for her. We eat a breakfast of fish preserved in sea salt from the night before, combined with some fruits and vegetables from our garden. After eating, the three of us go out to wash up in the lake, and usually end up splashing around and playing for a little bit.

Once we feel we have our energy up, we usually choose to go visit some of the digimon friends we have around the island. Some days we go back to the Yokomon village, sometimes we head over to the Volume Villa to see what kind of new music the Gekomon have come up with, and at other times, we go see Elecmon at the Primary Village. The electricity wielding mammal had been wary of us at first, and I couldn't blame him given his job to protect the baby-level digimon. It had taken a few visits and bringing some fruits as presents for the baby digimon before Elecmon had decided we meant no harm, and stopped threatening to fry us. Going to play with all those cute little guys is always a wonderful day whenever we do it.

For myself, one of my favorite things to do on the island is to go to Andromon's factory. The factory is just one of the most interesting and mind boggling places I've ever seen. It's almost pure chaos in there with machines building other machines, taking them apart, reassembling them into something else and on and on in a never ending cycle. It isn't just watching the madness that does it for me, but talking to Andromon, discussing technology, and everything in the factory.

My friendship with Andromon yielded another, unexpected benefit as well. One day, we figured out a way to repurpose one of the factory's machines so that it would produce reels of cloth. With that, I had the material needed to make new shirts and pants for myself, and it had been just in the nick of time too. By that point, the shirt and jeans I'd arrived in had been battered and torn up a bit, and I'd started harboring a fear I might end up dressing like Tarzan one day.

Speaking of clothes, for the life of me, I still can't figure out just how it is my clothes changed when I first entered the Digital World. While it's always an annoying little tickle in the back of my mind, I have to admit, I've come to quite like the leather bomber jacket and the red goggles. Honestly, they're two of the nicest things I've owned in years.

With other developments, I'm happy to say that Meicoomon has really come out of her shell. It took quite a while, but now she's just about the friendliest little thing I've ever known. Meicoomon is almost never separated from Revemon and me, and she's really gotten into the spirit of things, joining us whenever we play or go anywhere. Really, the only time she's not with one of us is when she does our daily fishing. Even though she looks like one, I wouldn't ever insult Meicoomon by calling her a cat. Having said that, she does have some adorably cat-like tendencies. Practically every fish she eats triggers a reaction like it was the finest Belgian chocolate, she purrs if you stroke her fur just the right away, and one time, I even saw her swat at speck of light that had reflected off the surface of the lake.

When we go out, her favorite thing is when we go to the Primary Village. Meicoomon just loves the baby digimon and is very sweet and gentle with them. Personally, I think the reason she likes them has something to do with her issues. It took Meicoomon about as long to get used to other digimon in general as it had taken her for just me and Revemon. While she can be around some now without being scared and timid, other digimon still terrify her. She can't be around Leomon for anything, and if we happen to have to fight another digimon, which still happens from time to time, she's too scared to help, but I don't blame her for that.

I don't blame her, because I know whatever she went through must have been absolutely horrifying. Every now and then, Meicoomon will wake up in the middle of the night, gasping and horrified, and calling out that name 'Mei' again. Whenever it happens, I let her spend the rest of the night in my hammock with me to calm her down. She still refuses to tell us whatever it is she went through, but I understand that better than she knows. I've certainly got a few things I'd like to forget, but can't.

Anyway, I think it's time to bring this first entry to a close. Meicoomon, Revemon and I are gonna go to the Freeze Ravine. Meicoomon told us that she's never seen snow, so we're going to rectify that and play around. If we have a good time, I might even make a snowboard to use there in the future. So, see you next time."

OOO

Two days later, Wolf, Revemon and Meicoomon were all making their way back from File Island's frozen territory. It had been something of a mixed adventure for the various members of the trio. For the first time since Wolf had known his partner, Revemon hadn't enjoyed himself when they got there. The little dragon digimon had practically frozen his tail off, he'd felt so cold. He'd spent the entire time they were there wrapped up in most of the blankets the group had brought along with their camping equipment.

Meicoomon on the other hand, had a wonderful time. Having never seen snow before, she'd gone crazy with excitement when they found the first white covered field. She'd been just like a kid in a candy store with it, rolling around in the snow, digging in it, and stuck her tongue out to catch flakes when a fresh snowfall started.

For his part, Wolf's experience had been a bit of a mixed bag. He'd felt cold as well, but hadn't suffered nearly as much as his partner. Wolf had been cold plenty of times in his life, so it just hadn't affected him as much. He'd felt bad for Revemon, but felt so happy for Meicoomon at the same time and touched by her childlike delight, he couldn't pull the plug on the trip. He and Meicoomon had played together, had a snowball fight, and even built a snowman together.

They'd spent one night camping out there, in a makeshift tent, and the three friends had all huddled together under their blankets for warmth.

It had always been planned to just be a one day trip, but even so, Meicoomon having seen how cold and miserable Revemon had been for over twelve hours had asked if they could leave as soon as they'd all been awake. The gesture had not been lost on the other two, but they hadn't said anything about it. At that moment, the three of them were walking across the open savanna region of the Gear Plains. It was a lush, grassy area, moderately hilly, with spartan trees, and large metal gears sticking out of the ground every so often.

"So, what should we do tomorrow?" Revemon asked everyone.

"Well, considering the sixteen hour round trip walk this outing required, I think we should just lounge around and recover for the next few days." Wolf said.

"I second thaaaaaat-huh!" Meicoomon said through a yawn.

She'd been riding on Wolf's shoulder for the past couple of hours.

"Okay, so, once we've rested up for a little bit, what do you think we should do?" Revemon asked.

"Well, if you guys don't mind, I'd like to go see Andromon at the factory again. I'd like to see if we can maybe use that stuff in there to build some kind of computer. Don't want my IQ to start to go down from lack of use." Wolf said.

"Sure, pal. I've got no problems with that." Revemon said.

"I'm fine with it too. I actually kind of like Andromon. I don't know why, but I don't feel as scared around him." Meicoomon said.

"Alright, it's decided then. Thanks, guys." Wolf said, smiling a broad smile down at Revemon.

Just then, something happened which even the three of them didn't see everyday. About four miles away in front of them and about thirty degrees to their right, a huge burst of light flashed into existence for the briefest moment before vanishing again. Wolf, Revemon and Meicoomon couldn't make out exactly what was happening due to the terrain, but it looked to them like something had appeared on the ground where the flash had been.

"Did you guys see that?" Meicoomon asked.

"Course we saw it. But is there something over there now?" Revemon asked.

Without a warning, Revemon climbed up Wolf's back and stood on top of his head.

"See anything?" Wolf asked.

"Nah. I'm still not high enough. I think there's something over there, but I can't tell what it is. What do you think, Wolf?"

"I think maybe we should go check it out. If it's something that might interfere with our lives, we should find out sooner rather than later."

"Really?" Meicoomon asked, fear lacing her voice.

Wolf partially turned his head to look at her, causing Revemon to jump off of him.

"Don't worry about it. You know we'll look out for you."

He lifted up his left hand and gently stroked the fur on the back of her neck a few times. Meicoomon calmed down and gave a contented little purr.

"Well, let's get moving guys, we're burning daylight here." Revemon said.

"You sure you wouldn't like to just digivolve and fly us over?" Wolf asked jokingly.

"Do I look like a digi-taxi?"

They all shared a light giggle from that. The truth was that Wolf never asked Revemon to digivolve just to give them a ride. He thought that to ask Revemon to act as a conveyance anytime they wanted to go someplace a little farther away would be extremely rude, and Wolf didn't want to disrespect his friend or take him for granted.

OOO

Almost two full hours later, Revemon, Meicoomon, and Wolf were arriving near the place where they'd seen the flash of light. They'd started to run towards the spot a couple of minutes earlier when they'd heard sounds like some kind of battle raging. They crested a medium hill which gave them a generous panoramic view of the area. The sight that greeted them was a herd of about ten Monochromon stampeding across the grassy plain, only breaking formation when needing to avoid the gears in the ground. The Monochromon had been enraged by something. They were snorting with anger and their mouths were almost frothing with it.

Mentally tracking their trajectory, assuming they would stay on the same path for a while, Wolf looked a long distance away in front of the rampaging digimon. Lying on the ground right in the path of the Monochromon appeared to be another digimon. Wolf couldn't totally make the digimon out because he was partially hidden by some bushes and a gear, but it was clear the little guy was out cold for some reason. If he wasn't, he wouldn't have been just lying there, doing nothing as a trampling bore down on him.

That was only half the problem, though. They needed to calm down the Monochromon so that they'd stop and wouldn't hurt any other digimon.

"What do we do, Wolf?" Revemon asked.

Wolf scanned around the plain quickly, seeing what they had to work with. His first thought would have been to carve out some kind of trench in the ground for the Monochromon to run into where they wouldn't be able to get out until they'd settled themselves. The problem with that none of Shradomon's attacks could dig up that much earth in the time they had. Just then, Wolf spotted something, and the perfect improvisation struck him.

"Revemon, I need you to digivolve and try to get their attention, buy us as much time as you can. Meicoomon, you and I are gonna do some collecting. We got to work quick here, guys."

"Got it!" The two digimon declared together.

Wolf's digivice began glowing brightly on his wrist.

"Revemon digivolve to... Shradomon!"

The three foot tall little dragon grew in size to his champion level form, his body extending to become a long, thin, and serpent like. His skin grew to become nearly pitch black, with silver accents around his mouth, eyes and tail, while a large pair of wings extended themselves out of his back. He flapped his wings a few times, and was airborne.

Shradomon launched himself at the Monochromon, covering the distance to them in a sparse few seconds. For his first try, he dive-bombed the charging digimon. He came just within two feet of the tops of them, but the Monochromon just kept on forward like they hadn't noticed anything.

"Hmm. They're as stubborn as ever. But, what's set them off? Something's weird." Shradomon thought to himself.

Still needing to get their focus changed, Shradomon changed tactics. He dived at the lead of the pack again, but pulled out of it just before he would have rammed into them head first.

"Tail Flick!"

Shradomon's tail hit with everything it had into the head of one Monochromon, and causing its head to smack into the friend next to him. Shradomon then quickly followed it up by flying up above and in front of them and flapping his wings for all they were worth.

"Tempest Wings!"

Gale force winds erupted from his wings, powerful enough to halt the Monochromon in their tracks. It even blew some of the the metal gears and larger rocks out of the ground to collide into the other digimon's armored shells. As soon as the gust subsided, all ten Monochromon lifted their heads towards Shradomon.

"Volcanic Strike!" They all declared at once.

"That did it!" Shradomon thought to himself as he began dodging the fireballs being shot at him.

OOO

A distance away, Wolf and Meicoomon ran up to either side of one of the many metal gears, she on one side, he on the other. Wolf took the rope he always carried whenever they went out from around his shoulder and quickly tied it around one of the gear's teeth.

"Okay, and, heave!" Wolf yelled.

Meicoomon pushed, he pulled, and with a huge combined effort, they were able to just budge it from the earth. It toppled over, a resounding clunk sounding with its impact.

"Come on, Meicoomon, we need to get the next one!" Wolf hastened her.

"This might be easier if you could digivolve!" Meicoomon said as they ran.

"Yeah, but I can't, and there's no time to try it now!"

The truth was that Wolf hadn't been able to digivolve into Apachemon once in all the months since the day they'd met Meicoomon. He'd tried to do it again many times, approaching the matter in several different ways. He'd tried forcing it by focusing on the goal, meditation, and even had Shradomon and Meicoomon attack him once to see if that would do it, but nothing had worked. He hadn't given up on doing it again, but it wasn't the time for another attempt.

"And, heave!"

Another gear fell over, and they moved on to the next.

OOO

Across the field, Shradomon wasn't having the easiest time keeping the Monochromon distracted. The huge balls of fiery magma were coming in fast and hard, forcing Shradomon to duck, weave, and dodge to the best of his ability. The attacks were missing him by mere inches at a time, allowing him to feel their searing heat. If it hadn't been for the thick scales covering his body, Shradomon would have been badly burned just by their proximity.

Shradomon had hoped that their taking pot-shots at him for the past few minutes would have calmed them down. They were usually extremely affable digimon, but their inability to hit him just seemed to be infuriating them further, working them up to a pitch Shradomon hadn't ever seen before.

Just as he'd dodged another fireball, flying low to the ground, one of the Monochromon was suddenly right in front of him. They'd maneuvered him with their shots without his noticing. The Monochromon gave him a hard wallop in the side of the head with it's massive horn. The hit sent Shradomon tumbling backwards, crashing into the ground, stars shining in his eyes.

"Body Blow!" Shradomon heard.

On pure instinct, he managed to twist his long, serpent like body to avoid one of the Monochromon charging him. He managed to avoid being rammed, but got hit the chest by another one's fireball. Half a second later, another Monochromon launched himself into a low jump and nailed Shradomon in the same spot, putting him down on the ground again.

More were coming in, looking to steamroll over the dragon like a runaway freight train, but before they could make contact, a tiny ball of orange fur suddenly appeared between them and Shradomon.

"Hairball Boomer!" She cried out.

A wad of matted, regurgitated hair the size of a baseball spat out of her mouth and resulted in a massive explosion just in front of the Monochromon, throwing them off their attack.

"Shradomon, are you okay?!" She asked.

"Yeah, I think so. But, Meicoomon, you're-"

"We have to keep them occupied for just a few minutes more. Wolf is almost ready with it. But, I thought we could also give him a little extra helping hand with that. Follow me!"

She ran at her top speed, covering fifty feet to two gears and used her claws to dig at the earth at their bases.

"Now, in Wolf's direction!"

"Right! Tail Flick!" Shradomon declared once he was airborne again.

The strong smack of his tail sent the two gears flying away.

OOO

Back across the way, Wolf was working at a fevered pace to get it ready.

"Come on! Come on and work faster!" He mentally yelled at himself. "If I can't get this set up, then Shradomon and Meicoomon are gonna be in real trouble, and I'm not gonna let my digimon die!"

With the strength that had been increasing ever since he first came to the Digital World, Wolf pulled one of the gears to where he wanted. At the same time, two more literally fell out of the sky forty feet to his right. That was a big help to his plan. In just over six minutes, Wolf had been able to loosely collect more than twenty gears.

"The others are gonna get hurt if this goes on any longer. I'd like to get more, but these will have to do. Just got to arrange them a little now." He thought.

OOO

In the fight, Meicoomon had jumped onto Shradomon's back. They were back above the Monochromon. She was using her Hairball Boomer attack to intercept some of the Volcanic Strikes.

"Hey, Shradomon! I think I've got an idea to buy us a few seconds! How fast do you think you could fly a circle around them?"

"If I go wide enough, I could maybe make a couple passes before they could close in on us." Shradomon told her.

"Alright, let's go in!"

Trusting in her, Shradomon swooped down at them again.

"Hairball Boomer!"

Unlike before, Meicoomon didn't focus on intercepting the Monochromon's attacks, but instead sent hers flying into the ground around their feet. Her hairballs detonated on contact, kicking earth up into the air and creating a miniature smokescreen along with it. When they had sunk low enough, Meicoomon leaned over the edge and stabbed her claw into the ground, ripping up even more ground and thickening the veil her initial volley had created, making it impermeable.

"Now just be ready!" Meicoomon told her friend.

Seconds later, one of the Monochromon stuck his head out from the murky film, eyes red from the dust and a tiny bit dazed. Shradomon knew then what Meicoomon wanted.

"Tail Flick!"

Shradomon's attack found it's mark and sent the dinosaur digimon tumbling back through the veil and out of sight. They were able to keep the tactic going for a good little space, Shradomon knocking them back while Meicoomon kept up a barrage of explosions to renew the smokescreen. It worked for a little over a minute until one of the Monochromon inside landed a blindly fired Volcanic Stirke. It hit Shradomon in his right wing, making him spiral hard into the ground about four hundred feet away from the herd.

Meicoomon was thrown off of his back in the impact and rolled for a bit herself. She wasn't too badly hurt, and was able to get back up onto her feet within a few seconds.

"Ugh." She groaned groggily. "Shradomon!"

She ran over to him as quickly as she could. His wing was singed and more than a little burned through where it'd been hit and his face was bleeding from where it had scraped against the ground.

"Shradomon! Come on! You've got to get up!"

Shradomon lifted himself up a little bit. He hadn't been badly hurt either, but from the glazed look in his eye, Meicoomon could tell he was so disoriented that they were in real trouble. A rumbling beneath her feet and the deafening clatter of huge strides told Meicoomon without having to look that the Monochromon were racing towards them.

"Shradomon! Come on! Come on!"

Shradomon was still pushing himself up, but it was so slowly. Meicoomon could see the muscles in his arms quivering. There was no way he was going to get it together in time to get out of there, and they both knew it.

"Meicoomon, don't wait for me. Get yourself to safety while you can." Shradoman said with a straining voice.

"I-I can't do that!"

"Please. I don't want to see you get hurt. Not after all the fun we've had together during these months, and I know Wolf wouldn't either, so go on."

Meicoomon looked up at her friend with absolute awe. Even though they'd all been together for months, and had been in more than one scrape, it had never even occurred to her that Shradomon cared about her so much that he would put her safety before his own. Meicoomon realized in that moment that despite everything, a part of her mind had always held onto the belief that he and Wolf would eventually betray her and leave her behind. Tears welled in her eyes and a lump formed in her throat.

"No way!" Meicoomon declared. She turned herself around to face the oncoming digimon. "You wouldn't leave if I told you to, so there's no way I'm leaving you! Hairball Boomer!"

Meicoomon shot her grenade at the Monochromon. It hit the lead one right in the center of his nose, but the diamond like shell of his armor kept any damage from occurring. It didn't even slow him by half a second.

"Hairball Boomer!" She fired another one.

Meicoomon sent out a barrage with as much rapidity as she could, but it had no effect. They just kept coming and coming.

"Meicoomon, go!" Shradomon urged her, halfway full upright. He was almost high enough to stretch out his wings and take off again.

"No! We're gonna make it through this! I know Wolf will come up with something!"

She remounted onto his back, and waited to discover their fate. After only a few seconds, when it seemed like they were about to be run through and trampled, Meicoomon's faith was rewarded.

Wolf came running in as fast as he could on an interception course for the Monochromon, carrying one of the gears in his arms out in front of him. Wolf jumped into the air and slammed the gear with the weight his full body into the side of the most outlying Monochromon's head. At almost the same time, Wolf kicked his foot into the instep of the Monochromon's horn, pushing himself up onto the top of its head. He leapfrogged onto the heads of three more until he'd made his was on top of the one leading the charge.

"Hi ugly!" Wolf shouted loudly enough to be heard.

With that, he punched the Monochromon in its eye as hard as he could, once, twice, three times. It finally bucked, thrashing its head around to try to knock Wolf off and causing him to sideswipe into his cohorts on both sides. Wolf held on to that front horn for deal life.

"Shradomon, now!" He shouted.

Shradomon dropped his act, spread his wings and took off. He ascended high enough, looked down, and knew exactly what to do, just as he'd known that feigning weakness inside of Wolf's trap had been the right call.

"Black Blazer!"

The champion dragon flew around a rough perimeter encompassing a seventy-five square-foot area, lighting the ground on fire, and super-heating the gears Wolf had lain on the ground at equal distances.

While the makeshift cage swirled around them, Wolf felt a callback to the first time he had read Dante's Inferno. The juxtaposition of the red glow of the gears inside of the black fire had purgatorial connotations to his mind, but they worked.

He'd seen how the Monochromon had been avoiding the gears of the plain before. They may have had tough armor, but they could still be hurt, and with waves of heat to rival that of a volcano pouring off the metal cogs all around them, Wolf knew he had the digimon held captive for a spell.

After a minute or so of the Monochromon bustling back and forth, turning themselves to see what kind of predicament they were in, they settled to a general shuffling that was halfway closer to calm. Wolf lowered himself so that he was hanging partially upside down, and looked into the eye of the Monochromon he was still astride.

"Okay, pal. You know you can't get through this, and my friends up there will make sure it keeps going for as long it takes for you guys to settle. I'm told you're usually quite pleasant digimon, so come on, talk to me. What's going on? What was with the stampede?"

"What?! Why would I say anything to you when you attacked me and my herd out of nowhere for no reason?! You punched me in the eye!"

"You guys were on the rampage. You were going to run over some poor, unconscious digimon I bet you wouldn't have even noticed. Also pal, you see this cage of fire all around us? I set this up in less than ten minutes with no plan and no supplies. If I'd wanted to, I could have improvised something to send you and your friends right off the edge of the island. I've done it before, and it would have been no problem." Wolf said.

Monochromon's eye narrowed slightly and Wolf could tell that the digimon was scrutinizing him.

"We're not going anywhere til I give my friends the signal, so what have you got to lose?"

The Monochromon's expression then seemed to lose a bit of hostility to Wolf's mind. He couldn't be too sure from his perspective, but it looked to him like some tension had lowered at least.

"Well, we weren't really stampeding."

"What do you mean by that?" Wolf asked.

"All we were doing was grazing on the plain when something strange happened. There was this flash, but it wasn't glare from the sun or anything normal. It was just this big ball of blackness that appeared in front of us."

"Ball of blackness?" Wolf thought to himself. "If that's true, then it couldn't have been the flash that we saw. He's right, this is strange."

Monochromon then went on to explain that the black flash had just hung there in mid air for a few minutes, and they'd been too overcome by curiosity for the irregular sight to move away. After a short space of time, a piece of it broke off and shot away, and then the rest disappeared as if nothing had happened. The herd had at first gone back to their normal routine, but not long after the event, they'd felt themselves becoming increasingly agitated. There had been nothing to provoke them, but a massive hostility had mounted in them, driving them into a frenzy that sent them stampeding across the plains. They had just run and run, trampling everything in their path until Wolf and his digimon had interfered.

By the time the Monochromon had finished explaining, the whole herd had calmed to the point where they'd been able to sit down and let the last of their adrenaline seep away. It took almost thirty minutes for the fire to burn itself out, and by the time the last ember had died, Wolf had made friends with whole herd.

"Thank you. For all of it. If you ever need help with something, you can come ask us." The head Monochromon said after the two groups had reassembled.

"It's no problem, guys. We're happy to help any digimon in need." Wolf said.

"Yeah, and you guys have always been awesome, so why wouldn't we?" Revemon added.

"You're a very brave group. Especially you, little cat. I'm sorry, I don't know your name."

"Oh, it's... Meicoomon." She said shyly from her perch on Wolf's shoulder.

"Meicoomon. Thank you."

"And don't worry about it. We're gonna look into this black flash thing and see if we can find out anything." Wolf said.

"Good. I wouldn't want that to happen to any other digimon."

The herd then turned to set off for home.

"Later!"

"See you soon!"

"Take care of yourselves."

After there was a sizable enough earshot between themselves and the herd, Revemon turned to speak to Wolf.

"You know Wolf, if this whatever it was got the Monochromon like that, maybe something similar happened with those Flymon back then."

"Good instinct, pal. I was thinking the same thing."

"Definitely weird."

"Yeah, we're gonna have to check it out."

The final voice had been neither from Wolf, Revemon, or Meicoomon. Wolf's shoulder's tightened and the alarms in his mind started sounding a shrill, klaxon blast. After eight months in the Digital World, Wolf had heard the voices of literally hundreds of digimon and knew quite well what the voice of a generally digimon sounded like. What he had just heard was no voice of a digimon. Turning towards the source of the voice, his worst fear was confirmed. Standing not twenty feet away from his group was a person. It was a young man no older than himself, with a small, blue skinned digimon standing beside him.

"Hey there! How you doin'?" The boy asked with a smile.

"This... is... not... happening!" Wolf's mind roared.
