(A/N: Part 1 of the finale is here! Enjoy!)
Steam fogged up the bathroom mirrors as a fit arm emerged from the shower curtains and grabbed a hanging eye mask.
Concealing his identity, the full body emerged from the showers. Nightwing, in his eye mask and grey towel, stood and waited for the misty mirror to clear.
When the shower steam did evaporate, it unveiled his smile of contentment. He picked up his T-communicator from the countertop and opened it. The device had been upgraded with a hologram screen. With a tap, he was viewing the holographic photo of him and Starfire on their second wedding ceremony, after the Tamaranean matrimonial mayhem weeks prior. This ceremony was in his former mentor's estate; their highly confidential, exquisite and elegant nuptials.
He looked at himself in the mirror again. All in his mind was still Starfire, and he could not wait to do it a third time today.
Ready, he congratulated to himself, "Happy final wedding day."
"Happy final wedding day!"
Gar and Cyborg's synchronous announcement filled the complex. As a labrador, Gar pounced down the grand stairs, the railings lined with flowers.
"Hey, watch it!" Bumblebee called out as Gar passed by her, Herald, and a third unmasked redhead, all formally dressed up. Bumblebee dropped her wine glass in her distraction, saved by Herald.
Cyborg was more refined in his descent.
"Don't mind Gar," Cyborg told the couple. "He's excited."
"Uh huh. Sure does seem that way, considering he risked the floor and my dress being stained." Bumblebee placed her arm behind Herald.
Herald chuckled. "With a manor like this, he's probably thinking the butlers will handle it."
Cyborg checked them out, giving a 360° assessment.
"Look at you two, all jazzed up! Thanks again for agreeing to emcee and officiate. Can't wait for all of our friends to witness you two's chemistry."
Herald, the quiet showman he could be, extended his arms for full display of his outfit.
"I gotta say, Vic, when you said you had a favor to ask, I thought it was to provide the music ensemble."
Cyborg patted the ginger man on the shoulder.
"Glad you could make it, Wally."
Wally flashed a smile as he patted Cyborg right back. "Almost late for the brunch, but dashed as fast as I humanly could."
Cyborg smiled back, grateful to see his old friend in good spirits. It had not been easy for the formerly Kid Flash to adjust to a purely civilian lifestyle, after sacrificing his powers to stop Harvest's time-traveling genocide scheme.
The beeping sound of incoming transmission distracted their conversation.
"Woops! Gotta take this call. See you at the wedding!"
"See ya, Sparky!" Bumblebee said as the three walked up the stairs while Cyborg made his way to the foyer, answering the transmission.
"Babe," Sarah answered, already in her formal attire but her background implied she was back in their residence.
Cyborg noticed. "Are you gonna be late?"
"I'll still make it. There's some kind of... interference, I believe... happening with your Mother Box."
Cyborg gave a dubious look. "That can't be. The Mother Box is dead."
Sarah showed him the Mother Box. Sure enough, it was humming softly, with a light blinking occasionally.
"That's strange..." Cyborg paused, contemplating. "Whatever's going on will have to wait until after the wedding."
"Alright. See you soon, Vic."
"Raven?! Look at you, bloody smashing that dress!"
Raven sent Argent a stern glare at her comment.
"Really?"
Argent chuckled. "Really. Doesn't mean I think you're feeling comfy in it. Feeling unlike meself in this dress myself."
Raven and Argent had spent the past ten minutes outside the dressing room discussing how wedding coordinations went and overall catching up, and had spent a particular portion of the chat on their own dresses.
The Azarathian enchantress had her shoulders covered by her own hands, as if hiding her exposed skin in her lilac tiered maxi dress.
Argent looked behind Raven above her shoulder.
"Gar incoming," she noted. Sure enough, Gar with his tuxedo and a purple bowtie was sprinting towards his girlfriend. "I'll be out of your hair and into the bride's - literally. I'm on hair duty."
Being the first time Argent had seen his attire, the Titan glanced back with a surprised and impressed look as they exchanged greetings and she went off to Starfire.
"Happy final wedding day!" Gar repeated to Raven before taking a pause to look at her, in sheer awe. "Raven..."
"Quit it," Raven said bluntly. "We've seen each other naked."
Gar chuckled. "Speaking of which, there better not be Titan partners linking up in this majestic manor! As tempting as it is, you know..."
Raven scoffed as she tidied Gar's tux. "No looking shabby today, Gar. This is a dapper occasion. The bowtie looks good on you, but take it off. It's Nightwing's. Yours is the floral boutonnière. Remember to put that on."
As she was fixing her boyfriend's look, she could feel the additional padding of fur between the fabric and his skin.
"Puberty really is hitting you late with all this fur."
Gar couldn't help but hold his gaze on her, almost forgetting that it was supposed to be Nightwing and Starfire's big day.
"C'mon, Rae. No matter what I look like, you'd love me the same." He playfully waggled his eyebrows.
It was Gar's turn to receive Raven's stern stare.
She continued, "I was actually about to admit, your mature look has garnered you points. Even Kole and now Argent had to do a double take."
Gar thanked Raven for the assist and offered her hand as they walked towards the banquet hall together.
Raven grimaced. She stopped, and telekinetically removed her high heels as she hovered.
"Hey, wait up," Gar teased. "'Dress code: Elegant', remember? That was your proposition."
"Doesn't mean I wanna do it," she muttered, putting her heels back on after massaging her feet. "The temptation to hover and not walk down the aisle and on the altar again is big. Good thing we're not expecting a naked you and detached Cyborg parts in this ceremony."
They reached the party of Titan guests, about to part ways.
"Remember your schedule. You see Nightwing in ten, while I will see Star."
"And then we see each other on the altar?"
Raven rolled her eyes as they separated.
At the banquet hall, Cyborg was conversing with Troia and Aqualad, who were finishing up on their food.
"The guy has pipes, and some of the lyrics inspired our final theme song, I'll give him that," Cyborg recalled, describing the Titans' ordeal against Music Meister.
He felt a familiar hand placed on his back, and Sarah occupied the seat next to him.
"Hi, Troia, Aqualad," she greeted.
"Sarah! You made it early!" Troia greeted.
Sarah chuckled as she pulled out her makeup kit. "Urgent lab responsibilities tend to pile up in the worst times."
"Not different from Titan duties, then," commented Aqualad lightheartedly.
"You left the Mother Box in the safe?" Cyborg asked.
"What was I supposed to do?" she asked back as she efficiently completed beating her face. "It started beeping and all and I've never handled a Mother Box, dead or alive."
Aqualad and Troia exchanged curious glances.
"What's with the looks?" Sarah grew similarly curious.
Cyborg joined the curiosity circle. "Atlantis and Themyscira each have a Mother Box of their own. What's up?"
"At the risk of adding another sense of urgency," Troia explained, "it sounds like your Mother Box is definitely alive."
Aqualad added, "A sign of life is a sign of life. We don't know exactly how they function and live, but we know that much. So... they can be resurrected, then?"
Troia nodded, with huge interest. "Possibly."
"Impossibly," insisted Cyborg. "It's not made any noise till today!"
"To be fair, it was locked up for years," Sarah pointed out. "Could've made some noise then."
"No movement, nothing. Who comes back to life after that long?"
Aqualad swayed his head in thoughtful motion. "The Turritopsis dohrnii."
Troia's eyebrows furrowed. "What did you just call me?"
"Turritopsis dohrnii, a hydrozoan. Also called the immortal jellyfish. When one dies, they decay before their cells undergo transdifferentiation, and restart life from a later stage of life."
Sarah, having had experience with a variety of ethical biological research, considered the Atlantean's point.
"True. The diversity of living beings includes a diversity in biological lifespans. I don't know where Mother Boxes fall on the overall taxonomy, but their sentience puts them on the spectrum. Whatever's happening with our Mother Box could either be a revival, or a rebirth."
"Or a rigor mortis," added the skeptical Cyborg.
"If I had known this table would become a scientific study on niche marine life, I would have noped right out of here earlier," Troia joked.
"Oh leave me alone, Troia. I was kind enough to not give you flack for eating fish in front of me." Aqualad scowled at Troia's finished plate of grilled salmon.
While the table moved their topic forward, Cyborg kept the information in the back of his mind.
"The grand moment is coming very, very soon, and I confess that I am in a mix of extreme joy and mild nervousness, much like the poem of the Ganphrax."
In the dressing room, Raven was listening to Starfire express every emotion in the book, both staring at the bride's reflection whilst grooming items were being applied on the Tamaranean telekinetically.
"Don't worry, Star. You're good. Now, tell me something I don't know."
"Very well," Starfire said nonchalantly, not getting her best friend's witticism. "I admit that there is a part of me that is sad. Sad, that sister Blackfire will not be a part of either weddings of myself and Nightwing...
"It is impossible to extend an invitation. There is no way to contact her, assuming she has embarked on her journey in the depths of Vega."
Seeing Starfire's eyes become distant for a moment, Raven ceased her telekinesis, and completed the final look by hand. The physical comfort reassured Starfire.
"Regardless of her reasons, at least you have all of us to celebrate you two today," Raven said. "You have me."
"Always?"
Raven brushed the final stroke, positioning the bride perfectly in front of the mirror.
"Once the wedding is over, you'll officially have Nightwing always." Raven reconsidered her statement, considering her last sarcasm went over her head. "Yes, we'll always have each other. Titans forever."
With her telekinesis, Raven passed Starfire an indigo ring box and opened it, revealing a majestic green stone. The stone of promise Nightwing - then Robin - gave Starfire years ago, thanks to the help of her sister. Today, she were to add another piece of jewelry on her person.
"If it's any consolation, Blackfire's X'halirium stone is a valuable, thoughtful keepsake," Raven commented as Starfire placed the stone on the chest piece of her blush pink wedding dress. "It matches your eyes way better than the Centauri Moon diamond."
Raven watched Starfire's gaze revivify as it drifted to the gifted X'halirium stone, all her emotional energy returned to the joy of getting married.
"Thank you, for everything, Raven."
"Ready to spend the rest of your life with Nightwing?"
Starfire grinned. "I have been ready for a while."
On the opposite side of the manor, Nightwing was being tended to by makeup artists, Cyborg and Gar. Nightwing, still with his mask on, was in a stunning navy blue tuxedo and similar pants. Cyborg had informed Nightwing about the Mother Box.
"You should check it out while you still have time," Nightwing suggested. "The Mother Box is powerful, right? And your safe is definitely not as secure as the Atlantean Stronghold."
The people in the room stopped and turned their heads towards the sniffing sounds, finding Gar in emotional tears.
"Can't you save your tears for the aisle?" Cyborg handed his best friend tissue paper. "Pull yourself together!"
"I can't!" Gar bursted out. "Our fierce leader is about to become our fierce married leader!"
Out of pure joy, Gar couldn't help but hug Nightwing, to everyone's chagrin except Nightwing's, who found it endearing.
"Thanks, Gar, though you do remember that I haven't been your official leader in years, right?"
Cyborg redirected the conversation back to the Mother Box. "You know what? Mother Box will have to wait. Furcoat here ain't gonna be the only one best-manhandling our groom."
Gar comically growled at his new nickname.
Nightwing stared at Gar and Cyborg on the mirror's reflection. They were about to get into an argument with the ceremony positions.
"Dude, you're too big to be by Nightwing's immediate right!" Gar argued. "Everyone's attention will be to you. I should be his right hand man!"
Cyborg's chortle was of mockery. "Oh, please, you can't even tell your right from your left!"
"Can so!" Gar's eyebrows twitched. "Don't underestimate me! I've had to keep tabs on all my limbs as a squid!"
Gar was about to transform into a squid to prove his point, but stopped just in time, remembering that he was in his tuxedo.
"Guys."
The two Titans immediately went to Nightwing's aid, each eagerly offering their help on either side of him.
"That's his left," Cyborg pointed out to Gar, mocking him.
"Thank you."
Nightwing's words took the two by surprise.
He continued, "I don't think I say this enough, but thank you for always being here for me. For seeing me as a friend, even when I do questionable things. For dragging my reckless ass back when my choices put me in trouble...
"We may not be a superhero team anymore... We may not share Titans Tower, or play Gamestation together anymore, but knowing that we all still have each other means more than I can ever ask for."
Gar and Cyborg's eyes shimmered. They looked at each other and nodded.
"We're thankful we gave you a chance all those years ago," Cyborg said.
"Yeah! We're with you for the long haul!"
Gar helped put on Nightwing's bowtie, completing the look.
"Now let's get you to that altar!"
An hour later, the ceremony had commenced. All the guests were seated, save for Bumblebee and Herald, who were on stage with microphones.
"Everyone! Sit down, please!" Bumblebee requested, pausing with authority for every guest to oblige. "Thank you."
Herald continued, "Today marks the union of yet another member of our Titan troupe. However, this is a particularly special celebration. After ours, of course."
Lighthearted laughter filled the room.
"Today, we celebrate Starfire and Nightwing. By the way, if you were hoping to learn of Nightwing's true identity today, too bad."
The Titans chuckled, and a few even jokingly feigned expressing disappointment.
Bumblebee spoke next. "We would be remiss if we do not spare a moment to thank Nightwing's former mentor, and father figure, for this spectacular venue to host this wedding ceremony.
"Now, if you're wondering where the Bat himself is, sorry to disappoint you. He's not here. Don't worry, a little birdie told me that there was a top secret mini ceremony where he was witness a few days ago. That little birdie was Robin."
"Hey!" Robin shouted out as Bumblebee playfully pointed at him, resulting in more friendly chuckles.
She continued, "We all, in some shape or form, have Nightwing to thank for uniting all of us Titans together. His vision of a society where good prevails over evil is one that is not just heroic, but inclusive as well, willing to extend a helping hand - "
" - or a handy T-communicator," Herald joked, to everyone's amusement.
Bumblebee went on, " - to anyone with the same heart, and the privilege to stand up to the innocent who may not have the ability to stand up for themselves."
"His pursuit of justice and heroic deeds has brought us together," Herald agreed as Bumblebee continued.
"But, behind every pursuer of justice, is an advocate for love. For while Nightwing may have eventually united us out of heroism, it was Starfire that inspired the founding of the team out of love. Out of friendship. Out of family."
Mutters of agreement filled the room at that statement. Herald continued.
"It is only fitting that the two people that triggered the uniting of the Titans should unite in each other as a perfect match in marriage."
"If you were here last night at the rehearsal dinner, you'd remember longtime friends and heroes Sparky, Gar and Raven regaling us with all the 'RobStar' moments they'd pick up on during missions and off-hours. Mainly, the boys..."
The couple went on with their hosting, as the bride and groom were separately on their way.
"Where is that fake flower?"
Gar was searching for his boutonnière. Unable to transform into an animal without ruining his attire, Gar was doing his search in his human form, rummaging through his and Cyborg's preparation room.
"Aha!" he declared, the buttonhole in one piece, having found its way behind the dresser. "Seriously. You drop something once and it travels across dimensions and ends up in a portal."
Crash!
"What was that?!" Gar squealed in shock at the sound of shattering glass. He did a quick scan. No one else was in the room.
Then, came sudden, rude thumps on his door.
"Come in!"
No answer for a few seconds.
Thump!
"Raven, is that you?" Gar was wondering what was going on, putting on his floral decoration. "Cyborg...?"
Thump!
Now mildly annoyed, Gar opened the door, and found the window opposite his door smashed, and a disheveled Blackfire in front of him, panting heavily almost in a growl.
"Blackfire?!" Gar looked on either of his side to see if anyone nearby could assist, but he was alone. "Are you okay?"
Gar put his hands on her shoulders. She looked thinner than he last remembered seeing her, as if she hadn't eaten.
"You know, you could've used the front entrance," Gar uttered. Her face was still down, panting. He grew worried. "... Blackfire?"
Slowly, she looked up at him, her eyes shot black. Her face bedraggled, her hair unkempt, dirt smudged all over her, and a putrid stench emitting out of her.
"Er..." Gar was dumbfounded. She had not given any reasonable response.
Blackfire's fists glowed black, and she delivered Gar a full-blown uppercut, sending him back into his room, smashed against the wall, and sending two ring boxes flying out of his pockets.
Quickly gathering his bearings after the surprising initial blow, Gar growled, maddened.
"Dude! You ruined my suit!" Gar transformed into a tiger and charged back at Blackfire. Or whatever was of her.
"Please, welcome Nightwing."
A round of applause erupted and all heads were turned towards the wide grand door.
On the opposite side of it were Nightwing and a flustered Cyborg.
"Leave it to Gar to be held back," Cyborg murmured as the butlers opened the door, revealing the groom and his present best man to the guests as Cyborg escorted Nightwing to the altar. "Ringbearer Boy better not have lost the rings."
"Looking good, buddy!" cheered Wally with a whistle. Similar compliments were showered by a few of the other Titans.
Nearby, the butlers passed a signal to Raven, gesturing to her to bring Starfire forth.
"It's our turn," she informed Sarah.
"Good. The persistent banging on the floor above us was really starting to annoy me."
Sarah was referring to the loud thumps from upstairs, constantly banging against the floor, to the ceiling above the three women.
Raven sighed. "And the ceilings are supposed to be well insulated. It can only be heroes in the mood... I'll give them a quick scolding."
"Much gratitude, Raven," Starfire said before squealing. "This is it! Let us go forward, please, Sarah."
"My pleasure." Sarah meticulously lifted up the train of Starfire's wedding dress as the two walked on, while Raven phased through the ceiling, arriving on the upper level.
Raven was immediately hit with a supercharged punch, her high heels flung in the air as she herself hit the floor.
To say she was livid was an understatement.
"Who's going to pay for that?!" she roared, her eyes and fists glowing black.
Then, she met her assailant, her eyes and fists also glowing black. Raven ceased fire, shellshocked.
"Blac-Blackfire?"
Blackfire was yelling in Tamaranean at her. It stunned Raven, not only that she reappeared all of a sudden, but that she looked rumpled, almost vampiric.
Blackfire began continuously firing starbolts at her, which she countered with a forcefield in the nick of time.
"Blackfire!" she called out. "Snap out of it!"
As Starfire was walking down the aisle, she was all Nightwing could see. A blush escaped him. The room was suddenly hotter. Jelly legs. Sweaty palms. The lot.
Starfire looked up at him, seeing him for the first time that day, and a blush escaped her too.
She didn't say anything, just looked up at him and turned redder than her hair and her lipstick. Nightwing's smile grew the nearer she got. Eventually, they met in the middle, he took her hand, and led her down the aisle.
While the to-be-weds were focused on each other, Bumblebee was exchanging eye gestures with Cyborg, trying to get answers about Gar and Raven's whereabouts, only to be met with non-confirmations.
"Nightwing," Bumblebee began, "Starfire. By the end of the hour, you two will have formally declared your promise to each other. To live out the rest of your lives in marriage. I now give you the floor for the exchanging of the vows.
"Nightwing, you may proclaim your vows first."
Nightwing and Starfire finally were met face-to-face, hand-in-hand, eye-to-eye, heart-to-heart.
"Hi," he whispered to her.
"Greetings," she whispered back, every feature on her face glistening with happiness and gratefulness.
Their hearts were beating palpably. Thump. Thump. Thump. Thump.
Thump! Thump! Thump! Thump!
Raven wasn't sure whether Blackfire was possessed, or confused, or whatever. She didn't know how much she should fight back. The Tamaranean's bellowing did not help her case. Her forcefield was buying her time to decide, as Blackfire delivered blow after blow.
Both females were grunting as they exerted more and more energy.
"Ow..." Raven heard a faint but familiar moaning across the corner. Both females turned heads.
"Gar?" Raven recognized, but Blackfire, with a gruesome smile, was already on it, forfeiting Raven for Gar. "Don't you dare!"
Raven teleported to the general direction of Gar's moaning, reaching him first, and she was stunned to find the condition he was in.
"Raven..." he uttered weakly. He was severely scarred and badly bruised. Blackfire did not hold back. "Blackfire..."
Raven heard the singeing sounds of starbolts igniting. The half-demon was almost at her wits' end.
"Azarath Metrion Zin-Whoa!"
Raven felt her waist being pulled back by some kind of red elastic band, flinging her across the corridor.
"Sorry, Houdini, but you're not hurting her." Barged in Red X, now grabbing hold of Raven, who was now even more stunned.
"... and for that, I vow to be by your side forever. I've demonstrated that I will go to the ends of the universe for you. And I will do it over, and over, and over again if it means fulfilling my promise to you. You changed my life, Star. And for that, I am forever yours."
Nightwing finished his heartwarming vow, which was met with resounding approval.
Herald nodded at Starfire. "Starfire, you may proclaim your vows now."
Starfire took a breath, confident and stunning as ever, as she began.
"When I kissed you the first night we met, in Jump City, all it meant to me was the transfer of the language of English. Throughout the years since, what has developed beyond that, and what we have come to learn, was the language of love..."
Cyborg and Sarah were exchanging worried looks. It was almost time to exchange rings, and Gar - nor Raven - had returned. Cyborg caught Mirage's gaze in the crowd, and she understood what was wrong. She excused herself, looking for the two missing Titans.
"Mind explaining what is going on?" Raven demanded from Red X. "What have you done to her?!"
Red X pushed her back, getting her as far from Blackfire as she can.
"You better answer fast, Red X."
"There really is no short answer to it, sweetheart."
They heard Blackfire howl, and she emerged out of the corner, eyeing Raven.
Raven's eyes and fists glowed, as she was ready to summon her magic.
Blackfire fired her shot, and so did Raven. Both were struggling, but Raven had the slight upperhand.
Raven groaned but pushed further. Almost there.
"Red X, contain her," she said through gritted teeth. Red X jumped up, pulling out a Xenothium-powered rope, but Blackfire dodged, moving out of the way of Raven's attack, and blasted Red X so as he hit against the wall, causing framed pictures to drop.
Raven grunted, feeling her arms weak, her legs wobbly. But Blackfire had not given in, about to charge at Raven.
"Raven!" Gar called out before howling as a green hound, lunging himself at Blackfire.
He bit her by the arm. Blackfire punched Gar in the face, and the two got into a scuffle back around the corner.
"Gar!" Raven flew as fast as she could around the corner.
She then watched as Blackfire smashed Gar's face against the wall, even breaking through it. Gar's body limply fell to the floor, his finger twitching as blood trailed down from his face to his body.
"Who's there?" emerged Mirage's voice from the staircase.
"NO!" Raven shouted. Filled with overwhelming anger, Raven succumbed to her anger, her eyes now red with rage.
"No, Raven!" Red X grabbed her wrist.
"Raven?" Mirage arrived on the floor, finding the wreckage. She approached the corner. "Gar?"
Raven blasted Red X, throwing him aside, colliding with Mirage. Raven approached Blackfire, who was laughing maniacally.
Her voice now possessing a demonic distortion, she uttered, "You hurt him."
"... Whether you believe in the heavens or an alternative higher form of power, do you, Nightwing, take Starfire, as your beloved wife, to have and to hold, through darkness and in light, through sufferings and successes, so long as you both shall live?"
Without hesitation, Nightwing answered Herald, "I do."
"And do you, Starf-"
"I do to the infinite degree!" Starfire squealed, to everyone's amusement. "Apologies! My heart is aflutter like a flock of Florgaflies!"
Tense silence filled the room. Bumblebee and Herald glanced tentatively at Cyborg and Sarah once more. It was supposed to be time for the exchanging of the rings. There were no rings.
CRASH!
The guests scrambled in confusion as the ceiling cracked open and down came a furious Raven, and a cackling Blackfire. Terra, Brion, and Argent promptly used their respective powers to minimise the damages.
"Raven?!" called out Nightwing.
"Blackfire?!" called out Starfire.
Several of the Titan guests watched on as Raven attempted to wring Blackfire, who was savagely howling with condescending laughter, launching starbolts.
"Raven, Blackfire! Please, stop the fighting!" Uncaring for her beauty, Starfire ripped the dress train from her gown and flew to the furious fighting females.
From the altar, Nightwing examined Raven's face.
"Rage Raven is taking over. We need to reach her."
Jericho communicated something to Terra, and she nodded, conjuring a small concrete platform from underneath Jericho, bringing him closer behind Raven.
Starfire and Red Star grabbed Blackfire by the hand as Jericho stared at Raven's bloodlust glare.
Jericho could feel his head and mind straining, but he pressed on, trying to get in Raven's head. Finally, he succeeded. Raven gasped, taking in a sharp inhale, causing her demonic tendrils to recede, releasing their grip on the zombielike Tamaranean.
Starfire pulled Blackfire around, and gasped at the sight of her. Her face was dark, dirty, almost unrecognizable.
"... Sister?" Blackfire seemed unresponsive. "Sister, it is me. Koriand'r... What happened to you?"
The Titans watched with bated breath. Jericho was clearly still finding his way to get to Raven, whilst Starfire was trying to get through to Blackfire.
Blackfire yelled something in Tamaranean, to Starfire's confusion. The elder sister's fists glowed and she blasted Starfire away from her. With another bellow, she harnessed a larger bolt within her hands.
Troia whipped out her rope and lassoed Blackfire.
"Wait, Troia!" Starfire said. "Blackfire, what has possessed you?!"
Troia grunted, trying to rein Blackfire in as the latter struggled to break free.
"She doesn't look like herself, quite frankly!" Troia pointed out.
Nightwing noticed a familiar figure from the cracked ceiling, in black with his distinctive red cross.
"Starfire!" Nightwing lunged himself at Starfire, protecting her. However, Red X had instead attacked Troia, which caused the former Wonder Girl to lose her rope, freeing Blackfire, who blasted off through the windows, out into the open.
Cyborg, Arsenal, Flamebird and Tula helped Raven, who was thrashing about.
Raven, this is Jericho, Jericho mentally communicated to Raven as soon as he was able to possess her body. Don't let your emotions take over you. Breathe.
Raven did as he said, calming down slightly.
It's Gar. He's hurt.
Jericho returned to his body as Raven, now calmed down but still red-eyed with anger, flew back to the floor above. A few of the Titans followed, and found the badly bruised Gar. A few shocked gasps were heard. It looked like Gar might have been mauled.
Cyborg pushed everyone out of the way so that he was beside Raven.
"Geez... Gar..." Cyborg scanned his friend for vital signs. "He needs immediate medical treatment at the infirmary."
Starfire squeezed Nightwing's hand. He looked at her concerned expression.
"You want to get to Blackfire," he correctly deduced.
"She does not look like herself. I am sure Red X has something to do with that... All this time, he had her."
Nightwing surveyed at the group of Titans around them.
"We have enough help to both help Gar and stop Red X," he told her. "The wedding will have to wait."
Starfire nodded and looked at Tula and the recovering Mirage.
"Assist Raven and Gar. Nightwing, go after Blackfire. I need to speak with Red X. He promised he would not hurt her."
To be continued.
