Sofia : Dreams vs. Reality
Summary: Manga artist Sofia struggles to come with an original and new comic book, exhausted she dreams of an alternate reality where she was a princess who finds friendship with a mysterious Sorcerer named Cedric, was it all really just a dream?
When Sofia was a child she has always wanted to be a Manga Artist, so she worked hard in school to achieve her dreams, by the time she was 21, she had finally landed her dream job as one of the many artist working for Enchancia Co, she quickly gained favor among her peers and superiors with her original ideas and "can do" attitude.
That was a 2 years ago, now Sofia was sitting at her work desk in her childhood room at home, nursing a cold, trying to come up with the a new idea for a comic book series that would impress her boss.
She was so startled out of her wits, by her bedroom door bursting open to admit an all too familiar faces of her mothers, Doctors Miranda and Rosa Balthazar-Tennelli.
"Sofia what are you doing out of bed, you will never get over this cold, if you don't rest." Rosa scolds mildly as she started to try and get the still sick girl up from the chair and back to her bed.
"B-but, Mama, I have to get this idea in 2 weeks." Sofia protested as she was made to lay down on the pillow while Miranda pulls the blankets up to cover her..
"No you won't." Miranda states.
Sofia eyes widen in surprise, "What?!" as Miranda puts her hands on the girl's forehead, frowning in concern at the heat coming off it.
"It's our opinions as both your mothers and doctors that, you are exhausted, running a slight fever, coughing and need to get back in bed." Miranda said firmly, tucking the blanket around Sofia more firmly, while Rosa was busy pouring a purplish liquid onto a spoon.
"But-but, Mom!" She said looking at Rosa for mercy, only get a stern look in return.
"No buts about it Sofia, now take your medicine and get some rest." She said put the spoon in front of Sofia's mouth, which had the girl putting in her mouth only to shutter at the taste.
"How can anything that smells like grape, tastes like shoe polish help my body get well? Ugh!" she complains sticking out her tongue.
Both Rosa and Miranda smile at each other in amusement, before Rosa said as she hands Sofia the medicine bottle.
"It will if you take one teaspoon three times a day. And don't forget to shake well before using."
"Like this?" Sofia said shaking it like maraca and playful smile on her face.
Miranda snickers, while Rosa just rolls her eyes, "Even your jokes are tired."
"Oh boy! I feel great!, you are a miracle doctors, time for me to get to work now!" She said trying to get out of bed only to be pushed back down by both parents.
"Forget it Sofia, now we have to be heading to work, Cindy's downstairs if you need anything, we will back at lunch to check on you later."
Both Miranda and Rosa give a now sleepy Sofia a kiss on her forehead, before leaving the room and meeting a concerned older sister downstairs.
"How is Sofia doing, Moms?" Cindy asked worried.
Rosa gives her a side hug, "She will be find Cindy, it's a simple cold, all she needs is to rest and stay hydrated." she reassures.
"Just call us if anything is wrong, be good and we will be back home at around noon to check in." Miranda said as she too hugged her oldest and soon they were off to work, while Cindy just sat in the living room watching TV.
Meanwhile upstairs Sofia was laying in her bed trying to fight off the sleep that was taking hold of her senses.
"Must it comic book started, todayyyyy" Sofia slurred as she soon fell asleep.
Flora: Once upon a time...
Merryweather: Oh, I want to tell it!
Fauna: Me, too!
Flora: Okay. We'll all tell it.
Fauna: Wonderful!
Merryweather: Mmm-hmm.
Fauna: You start.
Flora: Once upon a time, in the magical kingdom of Enchancia, there lived a young girl named Sonya. Sonya led a simple life, working at the village shoe shop with her mother, Miranda.
Fauna: One fateful day, they were summoned by King Roland II, who needed a new pair of royal slippers.
Merryweather: Oh, I hope they're blue!
Flora: No, red! We'll see. Sonya and her mother arrived at the castle. Sonya was very excited to meet the King.
Merryweather: Miranda placed a slipper on the King's foot. It was a perfect fit. And so were they! King Roland and Miranda were soon married.
Fauna: And what seemed like a storybook ending was really a storybook beginning.
"Sonya! It's time to go! Come on, honey. The coach is waiting." Miranda shouts up the stairs of once what was their home.
A girl about 8 years old with auburn hair and bright blue eyes was sitting looking out her window at carriage that was taking her and family to their new life.
"Coming!" Sonya said as she came down the stairs, following her mother out, hugging her long time friends, Ruby and Jade goodbye before getting into the carriage waving back at the friends that she will miss.
"Good luck, Sofia!" Ruby said waving frantically
"Don't forget about us!" Jade said waving and shouting.
"BYE! SONYA!" They both shouted waving frantically.
"Bye, Jade! Bye, Ruby!" Sonya said before turning back to face her mother.
"Mom! We're almost there! I wonder what our room will look like." She said excited
Miranda smiles kindly, "Now Sonya, we are living in the castle now, you will have your very own bedroom all to yourself."
Sonya was surprised and happy at time as she said shouted "YES!" causing Miranda to chuckling in amusement at her antics
Meanwhile back at the entrance, the rest of the Royal family were waiting for them happily.
Well not everyone... Princess Amber was pouting, which caught the eye of her twin brother, Prince James.
"Uh-oh. Looks like someone's not going to be the fairest in the land anymore." he said with a mischievous smile.
Roland was standing not to far them and decided to remind them of what he expected of them.
"Amber, James, I trust you'll do your best to make your new sister feel welcome."
"Yes Dad." Prince James said happily.
"Of course, Father." Princess Amber coldly.
Soon enough the carriage came to a stop at the steps of the castle, both Miranda and Sonya got out and walked up to where Roland and his children stood.
They curtsied in respect.
"Your Majesty." Sonya her tone formal.
Miranda does the same smiling at her new husband.
"King Roland II."
Roland smiles back at her, "Queen Miranda."
When Sonya spots James and Amber she waves at them happily. "Hey there!"
Prince James smiles and replies back.
"Good morrow, Sonya."
"Great morrow, Prince James!" Princess Amber corrects coldly.
"Princess Amber, I'm so excited we're sisters!" Sonya said excitedly.
Princess Amber just sneers at her coldly, saying "Stepsisters."
Miranda turns her attention to the twins smiling at them kindly, saying.
"Amber, James, I know there aren't many fairy tales about kind and loving stepmothers. But I hope to change that. These are for you. I sewed them myself."
She hands them little pins.
"It's our family crest." Prince James said recognizing the symbol, smiling.
Miranda nods, "That's right, James. Because that is what all this is really about, becoming a new family."
Roland turns his attentions to the newest and youngest member of his family, smiling kindly, "Sonya, welcome to the family."
A older man came to stand by them announced.
"All hail Queen Miranda and Princess Sonya!"
A voice shouts out "Grow ye, flora!" causing a spark of magic to shoot up to the sky only for the clouds to darken and open with rain.
Roland whispers back to the figure standing behind him sternly.
"Cedric. I said flowers, not showers."
A tall skinny man with short black hair and white bangs wearing a plum colored robe was fiddling with his wand.
"Oh. Excuse me, Your Highness. I'm still breaking in my new wand."
Roland turns back to Sonya and said "That's Cedric, our royal sorcerer, he comes from along line of royal sorcerers, but as you can see, well, we're stuck with him."
"Mmm? OH!" Cedric was look down at the tip of his wand when it sparked startled him causing the magic to shoot up to the skies again to finally change the rain for beautiful rose petals, which had everyone staring in wonder, especially Sonya.
"Ooh. Rose petals. Should I wave?" She asked curious looking to her new sister for advise.
Princess Amber rolls eyes annoyed, "Yes. You should wave."
Sonya nods seriously "Right." before curtsying and waving at the large crowd "Hi! Hello!" she said.
Princess Amber snorts, "We don't have to curtsy unless they're royalty."
Sonya looks unsure at hearing that, "I think it's going to take me a while to get the hang of things around here."
Princess Amber sighs annoyed "Just follow my lead and you'll be okay."
Sonya smiles, "Great." as she walks beside Amber, causing the older girl to stop her and saying.
"That means I lead. You follow."
Sonya nods, "Okay. Following."
As she walked she got distracted by all the chaos that surround her.
"Oh, be careful, mate. That's the new princess' throne." said one of the servants.
She was so distracted by everything that she bumped into something or rather someone.
"Child! Watch where you're dawdling." She looks up to see a familiar face that she has always admired.
"Mr. Ceedric!"
"It's Cedric." He said his tone bored and annoyed.
It's so great to meet a real live sorcerer. That flower trick was amazing." Sonya said.
Cedric sighs heavily, "If by amazing, you mean a complete waste of my talents, then, yes, thank you. I should be out slaying dragons, battling ogres. But, no! King Roland has me doing parlor tricks when I should be..." he gets frustrated and walks away muttering darkly under his breath.
"Mr. Ceedric?" Sonya asked concerned, only for her to be distracted by another familiar person coming up to her and saying.
"I am Baileywick, the castle steward. It is my responsibility to make sure everything in the castle is where it should be, when it should be, and you, my dear, should be in the banquet hall, 30 seconds ago."
"Oh, right." Sonya nods.
Baileywick smiles and shoos her away, "Off you go."
Sonya walks off to where dining room is and soon enough everyone was seating and eating mostly in silence.
"Hmm." Sonya said unsure how to start a conversation.
"Mmm?" Prince James questions to her.
"Sonya." Roland said.
"Yes, Your Majesty?" She said nervously.
Roland smiles, "Call me Roland or "You with the crown" or Dad. It's a tradition to provide an official welcome to every new member of the royal family. For your mother, it was the wedding. But for you, we will be throwing a royal ball in your honor at week's end."
Prince James smiles happily, "Brilliant!"
"James, manners." Baileywick warns.
Prince James smiles sheepishly, saying, "Sorry."
Sonya was shocked, "A ball? Just for me?"
"Father, why didn't I get a ball?" Princess Amber complains.
"You did, Amber. When you and your brother were born." Roland said.
Prince James smiles at her saying sarcastically "You don't remember?" causing Amber to let out an annoyed huff.
"Sonya, it will be your royal debut. And you and I shall dance the first waltz." Roland said.
Miranda takes his hand, smiling at him saying, "Oh, Rollie, you are so sweet."
"I have to dance?" Sonya said nervously.
Roland nods, "Why, what better way to let everyone in the tree-kingdom area know that Princess Sonya has arrived!"
For the rest of dinner and dessert Sonya was a bundle of nervous as she was lead to where her new room was by Baileywick, only to see a smaller version then what she expected.
"This is my room?" She asked curious.
Baileywick shakes his head as he went to stand by another set of doors, "No, sweetie. This is your room." He said as he opens the doors, which led to a much larger room with a rather large bed and many toys and clothes then she would know what to do with.
"It's so huge." Sonya said as she looked around her new space in wonder.
Baileywick smiles at her, "Looks like the standard princess suite to me. You've got your canopy bed, window seat, playing area, reading nook. And in here, you'll find all your gowns and royal accessories."
"Wow." She said still in awe.
"Now, if you need anything at all, any time of day, all you have to do is ring this bell." Baileywick explained pulling a large rope that let out loud ring, causing Sofia to cover her ears.
Soon enough a maid came into the room.
"Yes ma'am, you rang?" she asked.
Baileywick turns to Sonya asking "Do you need anything?"
Sonya shrugs "I don't know. Do I?"
Baileywick just smiles and then said, "Well, when you know what you need, you know what to do. Good evening, Princess Sonya.
"'Night." Sonya said once the doors closes she look around her large room suddenly overwhelmed by many everything that has happened, she starts to sing.
Everything seems crazy big
And I'm feeling unsteady
Mum says I'll be just fine
But I don't think I'm ready
New school, new friends, new family
And a ball where they want me to dance
I'm just a little girl from a small, small town
In this world, I don't stand a chance
I'm not ready to be a princess
I don't have what it takes
I'm too short for gowns,
I look bad in crowns
And I'm gonna make a bajillion mistakes
I'm too average to be a princess
I respectfully refused
I don't know the rules,
I don't want the jewels
And these feet were made for comfortable shoes
Shelves bursting with trinkets
That I'm afraid to touch
Fancy toys and ginormous pillows
It's all much, too much
Too much!
I'm not ready to be a princess
One look, and that seems clear
Cancel my debut, keep your royal crew
And if I ever find Mum's room...
I'm outta here
Sonya
Not a noble name
Sonya
Even my wave is lame
I'm not ready
To be a princess!
Hearing what sounds like her daughter's footsteps she peeks out of her rooms.
"Sonya?" she asked
"Oh, Mom!" Sonya practically flew into her mother's arms, seeking her warm comfort.
"What's the matter, sweetheart?" Miranda asked concerned.
Sonya pulls back enough to reveal the uncertainty in her eyes as she said "I don't want a royal ball."
Miranda sighs sadly, "Oh, Sonya. I've never known you to turn down a party, especially one thrown just for you."
"But I don't know anything about being a princess. And I don't know how to dance. I'm going to trip and everyone's going to laugh at me." Sonya said pulling away from her mother hugging herself, insecurity showing on her face.
"You'll do fine. And besides, no one ever laughs at a princess." Miranda said smiling kindly.
Sonya turns back to her mother, "Says who?"
Miranda pats the spot next to her on the bed "Come here, Sonya. Just try the best you can. And if it's not good enough for all those stuffy dukes and duchesses, then that's their problem. Mmm-hmm?"
Just then Roland came over to where they were holding a box, saying, "Sonya, I have something for you. Consider it a welcome gift." He opens the box to reveal a beautiful light purple amulet.
Sonya stares at it amazed "It's beautiful."
Roland helps put on it, saying "It's a very special amulet, so you must promise to never take it off. That way you'll never lose it."
Sonya nods smiling, "I promise."
Roland smiles before saying, "Now, you best run off to bed. You have princess school in the morning."
Sonya looks at him confused "Princess school?"
Roland nods explaining "Royal Prep. where all the princes and princesses from every kingdom go to learn our royal ways, including everything you'd need to know for the royal ball, which I'm very much looking forward too."
"Me, too. Thank you." Sonya said hugging Roland.
"Good night, Sofia." Roland said returning the hug.
Sonya smiles saying "'Night." before leaving the room to head back to hers.
Roland sighs tiredly, his face filled with worry, only for Miranda to put her hand on his cheek and say.
"Everything's going to be just fine."
As Sonya tried to navigate the maze of hallways of the castle to get back to her room, she again bumps into someone again.
"Ohh!" Cedric groans annoyed
"Sorry, Mr. Ceedric." Sonya said.
"Cedric. Why can't you... your amulet." He said looking at the jewelry mesmerized.
"Isn't it lovely? The King gave it to me. Well, good night!" Sonya said skipping off.
Cedric stares after the retreating girl, "She has the Amulet of Avalor! But not for long. Oh, how could I have missed it? After all these years, I can't believe the Amulet of Avalor was right under my nose. Yes. Now, all I have to do is pry it from the princess and I'll finally have the power to take over the kingdom!" he said excitedly.
Sonya was now more relaxed as she finally found her room, "Maybe I am ready to be a princess." she got ready for bed and soon enough fall asleep unaware that her necklace started to glow and let out a spark of magic.
When she wakes up the next morning she was surprised to see a variety of a animals in her room, Baileywick who was walk in to greet her, grabs a broom and starts to chase them away.
"What is going on in here? This is a castle, not a farm. Out! Out, out! Shoo! Shoo! Shoo! Out! Out, out! Go on!"
When the last of the animals were gone, he turns back to Sofia saying.
"Breakfast will be ready in five minutes. And then it's off to school."
Soon enough Sonya was waiting for her siblings, ready to head to her first day to Royal Prep
Coachman: Whoa! Steady now.
Sonya said when she spots the beautiful horses "Wow!"
"Hey, Sonya." Prince James said climbing into the carriage, followed by Amber.
"Hi! Hey wait for me! Why do the horses have... Whoo-hoo! she screams when the carriages takes off into the sky.
"Yeah!" James exclaims excitedly
"Amazing." Sonya breaths when she spots the building that is her new school soon enough they were standing at the entrance of the school.
"Princess Sonya." She looks around at hearing her name.
"Up here, dear." the voice said.
Sonya looks up to see a 3 fairies dressed in themed clothes, flying around them.
"Welcome to the Royal Preparatory Academy. I'm Flora." said the fairy in a red hat and dress, then she gestures to the green themed fairy.
"And this is Fauna and this is..." but before she could finish the blue themed fairy interrupted.
"Merryweather. We' re the headmistresses..."
"of Royal Prep." Flora finished.
Fauna smiles kindly at them, "We're so excited you're here. We're always looking for a few good princesses."
"That's great because I need to learn to act like one by Friday." Sonya said.
Flora chuckles at hearing that, "Oh! Oh my! I'm afraid it will take a little longer than a few days to learn how to be a princess. You see..."

Fauna: Good luck.
Flora: Class, we have a new student. How should we greet her?
Student #1: Good morning.
Student #2: Good morning.
Student #3: Good morning.
Princess Amber: Good morning.
Flora: Oh, dear.
Student #3: Let me help you with that.
Student #5: Here's your book.
Princess Amber: And then she dropped her forks all over the floor." Sonya goes over where she saw Amber talking with some other princesses.
"Hi! I'm Sonya, Amber's sister."
Princess Amber looks annoyed, "Stepsister."
Student #6: Wow. Nice amulet.
Sonya smiles, "Thank you."
Student #7: Are you going to wear it to your ball?
Student #6: We're all going.
Student #8: We can't wait.
Prince James comes to stand by his twin, "Hey, Amber. What's going on?"
Princess Amber fans herself, saying "I think it's time Sonya took a ride on the magic swing."
Prince James looks unsure as he said "I don't know, Amber. Father asked us to make her feel welcome."
Princess Amber looks at him sharply, "Isn't that how you welcome all the new students?"
Prince James sighs, "Well, all right. Hey, Sonya!"
Sonya turns to see her brother, she smiles, "Oh, hi, James. What's going on?"
Prince James still looking unsure, he said pointing towards what appeared to a simple swing set. "Have you tried the enchanted swing set? You don't have to kick. It swings itself. Go on. Try it."
Swings itself. Never heard of that before. Hmm. Oh." Sonya said as it start to gain momentum and soon enough the swing got out of control causing Sonya to get thrown off and land into the school's fountain.
Student #3: Oh, no.
Princess Amber smirks saying to herself "Here we go."
Sonya starts to laugh nervously "Whoa. Whoa! Whoa! Good one, James. You got me. Oh." she said putting a brave face as she walked away.
Student #3: Don't worry, the first day is always the hardest. He played the same prank on me.
Sonya nods, "I better go dry off before the next class."
Prince James tries to catch up to her "Sonya, wait!"
Student #3: I thought you said she was your sister.
"She is." Prince James said feel extremely guilty as he runs after his little sister.
As Sonya wanders back to the school, she could hear what sound like cries for help.
"What's that sound? Oh, look. A baby bird. It's all right, I can help."
She gently picks up the bird and puts in back in the nest with it's mother.
There you go. Just the two of you. The way it should be. Huh? I guess I gotta go back. Bye.
"Thank you! Thank you." The birds say.
"Huh?" Sonya blinked surprised only to be distracted by James shouts.
"We shouldn't have played that prank. Sonya, wait!"
Sonya sighs sadly as she retreats back to the school.
By the end of the day she was glad to be home, where she was greeted by Cedric.
Princess Sonya! Oh, how was your first day of school, my dear?" He asked with forced interest.
"Tougher than I thought it would be." she mutters.
"Well, then, how would you like a private tour of my lair? I mean, workshop. You know, not even the King himself has seen it. Hmm? Just up the stairs. Come along. And this, my dear, is where the magic happens."
"CAW CAW!" A large raven screech startling Sonya a bit.
"Oh, that's just Wormwood, my raven. Now, you stop it, Wormie! You're scaring the princess. Now, I make all the royal potions right here."
"Wow! This is really neat, Mr. Ceedric. Hey, that looks just like my amulet." Sonya said when she spots the picture that looked similar to her necklace.
Cedric comes over and pretends to look amazed "Well, I'll be a dragon's uncle, you're right. Oh, but if you had the Amulet of Avalor, you'd know, for it contains powerful magic. With each deed performed, for better or worse, a power is granted, a blessing or curse."
"Really?" Sonya asked surprised as she looks at her necklace in wonder.
"Well, yeah, you know, if it's the real amulet. But only a certified sorcerer, such as myself, could tell for sure. If you like, I can take a quick look at it." Cedric suggested.
Sonya looks unsure, "I don't know."
"Oh, I'll give it right back. I promise." Cedric said.
"But I promised never to take it off. And my mother says, a broken promise can never be glued back together." Sonya recites.
Cedric smiles through gritted teeth, "How irritatingly charming. Oh, well, look at the time. Hope you enjoyed the tour. I know how hard it can be adjusting to royal life. So, if you ever need any help, my door is always open." he said quickly ushering the girl out of his lair.
Once the door was closed he lets out a groan of frustration.
"Ooh! I'll get that amulet."
The next morning Sonya woke up to the sounds of multiple voice talking over her.
"Well, should we wake her up?"
"Are you kidding? The girl screamed like a banshee yesterday. And I got sensitive ears."
"I'm not going to scream." Sonya said opening her eyes fully to see a rabbit, robin and a blue songbird sitting on her bed.
"That's a relief. You can hear us?" The rabbit asked
Sonya blinks in amazement "You can talk?"
"Can he stop talking?" is a better question." said the Robin.
The rabbit was offend by that as he said "Hey! So, what are we dealing with here? Some kind of a magic spell or something?"
Sonya rubs her chin in thought as she said, "Hmm. With each deed performed, for better or worse, a power is granted, a blessing or curse. I helped a baby bird yesterday and I think the amulet gave me the power to talk to animals!"
"Oh. That is great, kid, 'cause there's a few things that I've been meaning to talk to you princesses about." The rabbit starts.
"Clover, not now. She needs to get dressed for school." Robin said.
"It's okay, Clover. Tell me." Sonya said curious picking up the rabbit only for him to resist and squirm.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa! You ever heard of personal space, momma? Put me down!" Clover demands.
"Sorry! You're just so cute and cuddly I couldn't help it." Sonya said sheepishly putting him down.
"Yeah, well, please, help it. Okay. Now, why do you think us woodland creatures have been helping you princesses for all these years?" Clover asked
"I don't know. Tell me." Sonya said shrugging her shoulders.
Clover starts to dance and sing.
"'Cause we gotta eat. And you got the food.
We've helped Princesses for many eons,
But you treat us just like furry peons.
We make your bed, clean up your messes.
The bird soon joined in.
Wake you up and put on all your dresses.
Clover: And what's our reward? What thanks do we get?
Not a crumb, not a morsel, no brie, no baguette...
Ohh! Did you really think after all these years
When we did your chores, we were volunteers?
Clover and birds: A little bit of food is all that we seek, a little bit to eat
Clover: Fill our tummy
Birds: Wet our beak
Clover and birds: A little bit too much
Robin: Like breakfast
Mia: Dinner
Clover: Lunch
Clover: And not a seed, a bean, or just some rice
Clover and birds: 'Cause a little bit of food would sure be nice
Clover: It really isn't much, not too much for us to ask
after helping daily with each little task
Birds: Just a bite or two
such a modest fee
even little songbirds shouldn't sing for free.
Sofia: Well, if food is what you want
Birds: Just a little bit
Sofia: You've come to the right castle. Follow me! Ha ha!
Everyone: A little bit too much.
Everyone: And there's nothing quite like brunch.
Clover: So deliver just a Sliver or a slice.
Everyone: Of whatever tasty treat
all the royal people eat
Clover: We'd be glad to make some room.
Everyone: For a lentil or legume.
Clover: If you want some first-class service
Everyone: There's a price
and a little bit of food would sure be nice.
Clover: Oh! A little bit of food
Birds: A little bit of food
Clover: Just a little bit of food
Everyone: Just a little bit of food
Clover: Nice!
Sonya: Time for school.
Clover: Mmm-hmm. Don't worry about the other kids, Sonya. You gotta keep your eye on the ball. You gotta keep your eye on the ball. And I'm talking about your royal ball, honey.
Sonya nods, "You're right! I'm going to learn how to be the best princess ever. That I'll show them."
Clover cheers her on "Yo! You go, princess."
Another hard day of Royal Prep came and went as Sonya was soon glad to be home, when she got to the main entrance it was bustling with activitie.
Coachman: Take the horses in back. Give them something to eat.
Servant #2: I want the gold-ware, not the silverware.
Servant #3: Coming through to the kitchen.
Roland was give orders where it was need as he said "This is a royal occasion, not a picnic."
Servant #3: Sorry, sir.
"Make it work, everyone." Roland states.
Miranda spots her youngest child and goes over to her, asking.
"How was school today, Sonya?"
Sonya sighs sadly "I thought being a princess would be easy. But it's really hard."
Miranda smiles, saying "Hmm. I know just what you need."
Sonya looks confused, "What?"
Miranda point over to where a small carriage was coming up path to the castle.
"Jade! Ruby!" Sonya exclaims happily.
"I thought you could use some familiar faces." Miranda said.
Sonya hugs her mother quickly saying :Thanks, Mom!" Before running out to meet her friends.
"Jade! Ruby! I'm so glad to see you."
Jade: Hi, Sonya!
Ruby: How many gowns do you have?
Sonya: Uh... Lots.
Jade: We've really missed you, Sonya.
Sonya: I've missed you, too.
Ruby: Oh, how many tiaras?
Sonya: Five. No, six. Oh." she almost drops her stuff in the process, but thankfully James there to save the day.
Prince James: Here. Let me help you with that.
Jade: Prince James.
Sonya stares at him coldly: What are you doing here?
Prince James looks guilty as he said "I'm sorry. I've been a royal dunce. But I want to make it up to you."
Sonya looks at him warily "How?"
Prince James: Well, by teaching you all the royal stuff you need to know for the ball. We can start with how to pour the perfect cup of tea.
Ruby: Prince James poured me tea!
Prince James: Best curtsy I've seen all year. You're all set for the ball now. My work here is done.
Sonya: There is one more thing.
Prince James: What?
Sonya: I can't dance.
Prince James: Is that all? No problem. We have dance class with Professor Popov tomorrow.
Sonya: But the ball is tomorrow night.
Prince James: One class with Popov and you'll be dancing circles around all of us. Trust me. Okay?
Sonya: Okay.
The next day Sofia was excited to get started on her first dance lesson, as she reaches to grab a pair of dance shoe she was quickly stopped by Amber.
"Sonya, don't even think about touching those stinky shoes. I brought an extra pair just for you." she hands Sofia a pair of bright red shoes.
Sonya smiles gratefully "Thanks, Amber."
"You're very welcome. Now, hurry up and get ready."
Professor Popov: "Children, gather round. So you think you can waltz? We shall see about that. I need volunteer! Mmm. New girl. Excellent. Pop-pop-pop. Follow my lead. If you dare."
Princess Amber: Mmm.
Professor Popov: "Oh!" he exclaimed surprised when his newest student started to dance erratically.
Sonya: What's going on? Whoa! Oh."
"Oh, Sonya. I must have grabbed a pair of Cedric's trick shoes by mistake. He's always leaving his stuff lying around the castle. Sorry about that. Coachman, can we get going? The ball starts in four hours. I'll barely have enough time to get dressed." Amber said with fake caring and concern in her voice.
Sonya just sighs sadly as she ride home after school, she was greeted by Baileywick.
Baileywick: Ah. Princess Sonya. The ballroom is almost ready.
Sofia: It's beautiful.
Baileywick: There's only one thing missing. A princess. It's your time to shine, Sonya and I can't wait to see your first waltz.
Sofia: I know. Mr. Ceedric.
Cedric: Hmm?
Sofia: Oh, Mr. Ceedric? Hi!
Cedric: It's Cedric.
Sonya: May I come in?
Cedric: Must you? What is it?
Sofia: Remember how you said if I ever needed any help?
Cedric: Of course I remember. I was the one who said it.
Sonya: Well, I was wondering, do you have a spell that can make me a good dancer? It's for the ball tonight. I don't want to look silly in front of everyone.
Cedric: Mmm? Mmm. Yes. Everyone will be there. I have just the spell for you. Yes, I do. And here we are.
Sonya: Som...
Cedric: No, no, no. Not now! You must wait until the waltz begins. Then just say those three magic words and you'll become the best dancer in the kingdom.
Sofia: Thanks, Mr. Ceedric. I don't know what I'd do without you.
Cedric: That makes two of us.
Wormwood caws at him.
"Oh, come on. You didn't really think I gave her a dancing spell, did you? When she utters the magic words I gave her, everyone in the ballroom will fall into a deep sleep, even her dear old mom and dad. And I'll only wake them up if she hands over the amulet. And then the kingdom will be mine!"
Suzette: You look lovely, Miss Amber.
Marcie: Perfect as usual.
Prince James: I need to talk to my sister. Alone.
Suzette and Marcie: Mmm-hmm.
Princess Amber: How do I look?
Prince James: You gave Sonya the trick shoes on purpose.
Princess Amber: If I recall, you played a prank on her, too.
Prince James: What you did wasn't a prank. She needed those dance lessons. You're trying to ruin her ball. And I know why.
Princess Amber: Because she doesn't belong here?
Prince James: No. Because everyone likes her more than you. And after what you did today, so do I.
Princess Amber: You don't mean that.
Prince James: Yes, I do.
Princess Amber: Wait. James! Come back!
Princess Amber: Oh. My gown! Suzette! Marcie!
Suzette: Look at you, Princess Sonya. Pretty, pretty, pretty.
Marcie: Sofia! You look beautiful!
Suzette: You look gorgeous.
Marcie: Prettiest princess in the palace.
Baileywick: All hail Princess Sofia.
King Roland II: Sofia.
Sofia: Your Majesty.
Cedric: It's almost sleepy time!
King Roland II: Shall we dance?
Sonya: Somnibus Populis Cella.
She watches in horror as everyone around her started to fall asleep.
Cedric: It's working. Soon everyone in the ballroom will be asleep. Oh, no!" Cedric was soon asleep.
Sonya: Mom? Mom? I must have said it wrong. Please wake up. Help! Help! Help! Someone. Anyone. Mr. Ceedric? Guards? Suzette? Marcie? Help! What have I done?
She was so upset that she even notice that her amulet started to glow and a familiar figure came to stand before her.
"Princess Sonya?" the girl look up to see who it was.
"Cinderella? What are you doing here?" Sonya asked
Cinderella points her necklace: Your amulet brought me here, it links all the princesses that ever were. And when one of us is in trouble, another will come to help. Why are you so sad, Sonya?
Sonya: I tried to use a magic spell to make myself a good dancer, but it put everyone to sleep. I should have just let them laugh at me. Can you undo the spell?
Cinderella: Only you can do that. But I think I can help you find your way.
Cinderella: Everyone's heard about the day
That true love came for me
He carried me off and far away from my step family
But ever since I wed the prince
And left my hurt behind
There's one regret I won't forget
That weighs upon my mind
My step sisters let their jealousy
Harden their hearts
But when they ruined my ball gown
That's not all they tore apart
If only we had tried to see
A way to start a new
We may have found that this time round
Our friendship only grew
We could have been true sisters
If we only made amends
True true sisters
And ever after friends
You suddenly feel that all is lost
Frightened and alone
But maybe yours isn't the only heart
That's sinking like a stone
Though many of the ones you love
Are frozen in a trance
Someone who's a lot like you
Never made it to the dance
Sonya: But Amber's been so mean to me.
Cinderella: Maybe all she needs is a second chance.
You could be true sisters
Sonya: Sisters
Cinderella: If you only make amends
True true sisters
Sonya: Sisters
Both: And ever after friends
Princess Amber: What do you want?
Sonya: I've done something terrible. Come on, I'll show you.
Princess Amber: A dancing spell put everyone to sleep?
Sonya: I must have said it wrong. It's all my fault.
Princess Amber: No, Sonya. You wouldn't have needed the spell if I didn't give you those trick shoes. I was just jealous because everyone likes you more than me. Even my own brother.
Sonya: That's not true. You're the most popular princess at Royal Prep. You have no idea how happy I was when I found out we were going to be stepsisters.
Princess Amber: Sonya, we're sisters.
Sonya: How are we gonna wake them up?
Princess Amber: Hmm. Oh, I bet Cedric has a counter-spell in one of his books. Oh. But his workshop is always locked.
Sonya: Not if you have the key. Give me a boost. Got it.
Wormwood: Whoa!
Princess Amber: I forgot about Wormwood. He won't let us get near the spell book.
Sonya: We'll need more help.
Wormwood: From who? Everyone's asleep.
Sonya: Not everyone.
Clover: Just follow the plan.
Sonya: We have a plan?
Princess Amber: Hey. Those are the animals that used to help me clean my room. I wondered what happened to them.
Robin': Get his beak!
Mia: Got it.
Wormwood: Oh, you little... Ow! Ow! Ow!
Clover: Take that, birdbrain!
Wormwood: Stop it.
Princess Amber: Get the spell book!
Sonya: Got it. Oh.
Princess Amber: Claws off my sister!
Clover: Eye peck away. Get it.
Wormwood: Stop that!
Sonya: Amber, over here! Got him!
Clover: All right, sports fans, that may be the first time Amber's picked up a broom, but she sure knows how to use it.
Sonya: Let's find that counter-spell.
Princess Amber: Oh! Where is it?
Sonya: I don't know.
Clover: Yo, Wormwood! Why so quiet? Worried we'll tell the other ravens you got outsmarted by a rabbit?
Wormwood: Hardly! We'll see who has the last laugh. They'll never find the counter-spell.
Clover: Oh, they've got your master's spell book, birdbrain.
Wormwood: But the counter-spell book is hidden behind the painting. So the joke's on them.
Sonya: Thanks, Wormwood!
Wormwood: She heard what I said? No!
Sonya: Found it. Let's go.
Amber stops short of the door.
Sonya: What's wrong?
Princess Amber: I can't go in there looking like this. You go on.
Sonya: Not without you. Come on. I've been fixing my dolls' dresses for years. There you go. Good as new.
Princess Amber: Thank you, Sofia.
Sonya: Guess I gotta go try to waltz now.
Princess Amber: Wait. There's something I can fix, too. I owe you a dance lesson.
Sonya: Oh.
Princess Amber: One, two, three. One, two, three. One, two, three. One, two, three. One, two, three. One...
After a bit Sonya finally got the hang of the waltz and so they proceed to the ballroom where Sonya said
"Populi Cella Excitate Amber, it's working."
King Roland II: Sofia, are you ready?
Sonya: I am.
Cedric: "Merlin's mushrooms!" He exclaims disappearing in puff of smoke.
Sonya: "Ow!" as her foot was stepped on.
King Roland II: Sorry. I'm afraid I'm not a very good dancer. I never paid much attention in Popov's class. But you certainly did. You dance wonderfully.
Sonya: Thank you, Your Majesty. I mean, Dad. I had a little extra help from Amber.
Princess Amber: I taught her everything she knows.
Prince James: Huh? Mom, would you like to dance?
Queen Miranda: Of course, James. Ooh.
Sonya: I've been wondering, why do they call you "Roland the Second"?
King Roland II: Because my father, the former king, was also named Roland.
Sonya: So I guess that makes me Sonya the First.
King Roland II: I guess it does.
When Sofia finally woke up she sat up with gasp as she quickly gets up from her bed and goes to desk and starts drawing like a mad woman, by the time she was done with first few pages she was caught by her mothers and sister and forced back into bed, where she again dreamed of her many adventures as Princess Sonya, who even taught a bitter sorcerer that he was worthy of having friends.
The day she showed her boss the rough draft and script of her comic, it was a immediate hit and soon it was the best selling series and many fans adored the friendship between Sofia and Cedric the most, giving them the ship name "Cedfia"
