Sofia : Adventures in Wonderland
Summary: Sofia was invited to her uncle's tea party who turns out to be Tarrant Hightopp aka the Mad Hatter of Wonderland, she was also allow to bring a plus one, so she decides to bring Cedric.
It was pretty typical sunny day in Enchancia as Sofia was busy reading to Clover, who was dozing lazily on her lap, when a strange look bird came flying to where Sofia was sitting, curious she started to speak, only for the unusual animal to morph into a envelop with her name on it.
Taking it she opens and reads it, smiling widely as she quickly stands up, knocking Clover off her lap, she shouts a quick apologize before running off to find her mother.
She runs down the maze of hallways, until she comes to the door of her mother's study, after catching her breath and straighten up a bit, she calmly knocks on the door, only to enter when she heard her mother say come in.
Opening the door, her mother looks up and smiles at her, "Sofia, what can I do for you?" She asked.
Sofia was so excited as she hands her mother the letter, watching as her mother's smile turns into a worried frown.
My dearest niece Sofia,
I wish to invite you to wonderland for a tea party, you may bring one friend with you on your journey to my humble home, I have provided the necessary transportation for you to get to Wonderland, simply press the Hat symbol on the card and it will instantly take to where I am.
Your dearest Uncle Tarrant Head of the Hightopp Clan
"Can I go please?" Sofia begged.
Miranda looks at her daughter and then sighs warily, before saying, "It says you are allowed to bring a friend, so I would like it if you brought Cedric with you for protection, Wonderland maybe a magical place, but it is filled with many dangers, you will need to follow both Cedric and your Uncle's rules to the letter."
"So does this mean I can go." Sofia said.
Miranda nods, "Yes." only to chuckle a bit when she is hugged by her excited child, watching with mild amusement as the girl took off to go find the sorcerer.
Meanwhile Cedric was busy sort through his potions ingredients, to see what needed replacing or refilling, he was just getting into the rhythm of it, when he was startled by the door to his tower bursting open causing him to lose his footing on the stool he was standing on and fall to floor.
"Oh Mr. Cedric, I am so sorry I should have knocked first, are you okay?" Sofia said coming to his eye line, his vision a bit disoriented, until he recovered enough to sit up.
"Yes, I am alright, now explain to me what had you bursting through my door." Cedric grumbles.
Sofia bit her lip worryingly as she said, "I was invited to see my Uncle Tarrant Hightopp in Wonderland for a tea party and I am allowed to bring a friend, I was going to pick you anyways, since this place is filled with magic and unusual creatures."
Cedric said nothing for a moment and then asked, "Did you say Tarrant Hightopp aka The Mad Hatter of Wonderland?"
Sofia nods, "Yes he is my late father, Birk's younger half brother, they grew up together as kids and lost contact for years as teens, only to reconnect when I was born, I do occasionally see him for tea parties but we write each other a lot, since his world is under a different type of magical laws and I am pretty busy most of the time, so what do you say, want come? Please say Yes." she begged
Cedric thought about it and decided he wanted to see if the stories and rumors he had heard were true or pure hogwash, so he nods.
Sofia smiles widely as she pushes on the hat symbol, causing it glow a mysterious purple orange color that soon started to surround them both, causing them to disappear as if they were never there at all.
When Cedric and Sofia found solid ground again they were standing in front of a house that was literally shaped like a top hat.
"Well that is one way to get to Wonderland, faster too." Cedric said.
Sofia nods in agreement, "I agree, Uncle Tarrant doesn't want me to go finding a random rabbit hole and try to jump through it."
Cedric smirks at hearing that, "Sounds like you know if experience."
Sofia blushed and grumbled, "I was 6 okay, I just thought any white rabbit hole was the way to Wonderland, don't laugh!"
Cedric was chuckled as he pictures a much younger version of Sofia trying to jump or dig her way into any rabbit hole only to get stuck in the process.
Just then the door to the house opens to reveal a tall pale man with wild red hair, which was mostly covered by a large, ratty top hat, wearing a dark green overcoat, with matching pants and dizzying ascot tie, the most strange thing about him were his eyes they seem to have an otherworldly feel to them as if he stares into your very soul.
When Sofia see him she runs up to him, the man who was apparently the Uncle Tarrant she was talking about caught her and twirl her around, laughing and hugging her close.
But then he looks over Sofia's head, staring straight at Cedric, and gives him a friendly smile, which made the sorcerer feel at ease a bit.
As Sofia looked around she looks to her Uncle confused.
"Where Auntie Alice?" she asked.
Cedric was as well curious and wondered if the rumors were true about the Hatter marrying a woman named Alice King sleigh.
Tarrant smiles as he maneuvers Sofia to sit on his shoulders, saying, "Auntie is working today at her bakery, shall we surprise her?"
"Yes!" Sofia exclaims.
"Well then let's go then tally ho!" Tarrant starts to gallop like a horse as he jumps over various logs, branches and bushes much to Sofia's amusement, while Cedric tried to keep up with them, having to dodge said various plants, only to get spray in the face with some mysterious spray which caused him to cough a bit, before he looked to see where his friend and her Uncle were, when he came face to face with a rather large caterpillar.
"AAHH!" Cedric cried as he tried to back away from the large creature, who was just watching him with a bored expression as he puffed from a long pipe, blowing out a misty pink smoke.
"Fear not, young Sorcerer, I Absalom wish you no harm, I due apologize for giving you a fright." The caterpillar said kindly.
Cedric nodded and then turns to see Sofia and Tarrant not too far away looking at some odd looking flowers, so he bide the large bug farewell before running over to catch up with his companions.
When Sofia spotted him, she notice how ashen he was and asked "Are you alright Mr. Cedric?"
"Nothing is wrong just ran into a rather large caterpillar!" He exclaimed startling Sofia a bit before smiling a knowing smile, "Oh you must of ran into Mr. Absalom, he is pretty laid back, mostly just wants to talk or give advise to others."
"Even if the advise is ill suited for the situation at hand." Tarrant said, just as a mysterious gray, light blue striped, turquoise-eyed tabby cat appeared on his top hat causing Sofia to giggle loudly while Cedric was a bit disturbed by the rather large pointy toothed grin as Tarrant looked at his niece curious as what got her giggle like crazy, she said nothing as she gestures to the top of her head and pointed at him.
Tarrant goes to touch whatever it was only to meet air, causing Sofia to giggle again as the cat was making faces behind her Uncle's head, but the man quickly caught on and grabs the feline and pulls out of it hiding spot.
"Chessur!" Tarrant said with a wicked smile on his face.
Chessur pouts at being caught as he whines, "Aww man, Tarrant, how did you know it was me."
Tarrant smiles mysteriously at the pouting cat. "Oh I have my ways, old friend."
Just then the cat vanishes out of the man's grasp and is soon curled up around Sofia.
"My little Sofia, how you have grown." Chessur said purring.
"Hi Chessy, I want you to meet my friend Mr. Cedric." She said gesturing to the sorcerer who was standing off to the side, mostly silent as he watched how Sofia interacted with crazy world that is wonderland.
The cat smiles widely as he floats over to Cedric getting too close for the man's comfort as he said, "Oh a new visitor, welcome to Wonderland, magic wielder."
Cedric nods, "Thank you I am just glad to meet any of Sofia's friends and family."
For the rest of the journey they all walked or floated to small village where many people and creatures resided, when finally they came upon a small building with the name "Alice's Amazing Treats and Delights" They walk inside, only to be greeted by a small child of about 4 years old, a girl with strawberry blonde hair and blue and greens eyes, wearing a pretty, but simple blue dress with a white apron.
"Daddy!" the child shouts happily as the top hatted man caught her mid jump as he again twirl her around like he did Sofia.
"Bronte, my darling child, I want you to meet your cousin, Sofia and her friend Cedric can you say hello?" he said turning the girl to look at them, the girl happily waves at them, before squirming to be put down, once her father did she ran off towards a disheveled woman with long blonde hair and bright blue and wearing a similar look outfit to that of the child's coming out of the backroom, she said something before pasting by her and going off.
"Alice my dear wife, come see we have visitors!" Tarrant said giving the woman a slight kiss on the cheek when she came closer.
Alice turns to smile at everyone there, but when she saw Sofia she hugged her closely.
"I am glad to see you again Sofia, I haven't see you since the birth of Bronte, it's been too long."
Sofia just smiles and hugs her back, "Sorry Auntie, I promise to visit more next time, now I want you to meet my friend, Mr. Cedric."
Releasing Sofia, Alice turns to look at Cedric and she smiles, "So your the "Mr. Cedric" I heard so much about, all good things I assure you, I want to thank you for looking out for our niece here, my name is Alice King sleigh-Hightopp." She said putting her hand out, which Cedric took smiling.
"Charmed, I am Cedric, but you already knew that." He said causing the woman to chuckle before a loud ringing noise came out of no where she quickly goes over to the many rows ovens and pulls out several batches of freshly made cookies and treats, she had to smack Tarrant's hand and swat at Chessur away from the cookies much to their disappointment, while both Sofia and Cedric were amused by their antics.
But she did bring out some treats that she had already prepared for the tea party, so she makes sure to put any remaining treats and cookies away before grabbing Bronte and closing up shop, soon enough the large group were back at the Mad Hatter's home, where they met the dormouse and march hare, soon enough they were all sitting down enjoy tea or coffee and eating the delicious treats that Alice made.
They had talked about the many adventures that Alice had when she visited Wonderland as a child and as an adult, even about the wars of the Queens, who were sisters fighting over the rights of who should rule the kingdom, but thanks to both Alice and Tarrant's intervention, the two resolved their differences and now rule their kingdom peacefully together.
Cedric did ask the hatter about the rumors and stories he had heard and the man was kind enough to answer all of his questions, while Sofia along with Chessur were playing around with Bronte until the girl was tucker out and asleep on her mother's lap.
Too soon for both Cedric and Sofia's liking it was time for them to go back home, so with a heartfelt goodbye to her Aunt and Uncle and friends she stood by Cedric as she pushes the hat symbol again, the magic swirling around them until they were soon back in Cedric's towers, and from looking out the window it was late in the evening.
"So did you have fun in Wonderland, Mr. Cedric?" She asked.
Cedric thought about for a few moments before nodding, "It was definitely a very interesting experience and I wouldn't mind visiting again with you of course Princess."
Sofia smiles, "I am glad, well I have to go let Mom know I am home, see you soon, have a good night." She leaves the tower, Cedric was tired as he took off his robes and fell asleep on the small cot that he had set up in the back corner of his lab, smiling as he dreamed of his time at the mysterious place called Wonderland.
Unaware that after greeting her parents and siblings Sofia soon got ready for bed too and was dreaming of her many adventures going to visit her uncle and aunt in wonderland with Cedric by her side.
