Dear Diary,

It seems I am incapable of the quiet life. Since coming to Mystic Falls it has been one thing after another. Elena's Uncle John has returned to town, and he not only knows who I am somehow, but is also plotting something. His plan seems to revolve around some device that Pearl stole back in 1864. He has been trying to get Stefan and Damon to get it. He told Stefan at the Miss Mystic competition about how Pearl had it, and he needed the brothers to take it back from her. I got filled in this morning, after sleep and pepper up solved my illness yesterday.

I am nervous for Pearl and Anna. I have put protections over their home so that no one can attack them there. I only hope I am being a little paranoid. Anna is good for Jeremy, and though I don't approve of her methods. I know everything she did before was to rescue and reunite with her mum…

I am planning to spend some time with Jeremy today and see how he is getting on before I head over to the Salvatore house to discuss plans. Elena stayed there last night. She has been avoiding John. We have agreed to met for dinner to talk.

I am hoping once John leaves this town will quieten down again and I will be able to focus on seeing if I can reverse the curse that Bellatrix has forced upon me. The Master of Death. Elena and I were in a car accident where I discovered that I can not die, as all the Hollows belonged to me when Bellatrix destroyed them. There has to be a way to reverse it. Draco also promised to look into it when he went home yesterday.

I can't stand the idea of never being able to join everyone. Stuck missing them for eternity…

Azalea stopped writing as grief, sadness and frustration began to build. A tear mark blending the ink of the word eternity into the page. She threw the diary and curled up into a ball. There had to be a way to change it. There had to be…

After Jeremy came over to catch up and do some painting the redhead got changed out of her paint-stained clothes and made her way over to the Salvatore house. Deciding just to leave her car she apparated over, landing in the middle of the hallway.

"Hey Lightning," Damon called from the sitting room. She walked in to see Damon standing by the fire, while Stefan and Elena sat together on the sofa. She sat down on the other sofa.

"Shouldn't Pearl –"

"Please, I don't trust her," Damon said.

"Didn't she give you that thing?"

Damon twirled it in his hands.

"What ever it is it doesn't work, I'll keep trying." He said putting it back in his pocket.

"So what else did she say, your text was pretty cryptic," the redhead asked.

"She thought it was the vampire compass, sucker for her that night that it wasn't," he said. "Has Uncle John said anything else?" he asked Elena.

"I've been avoiding him, staying here most nights, or Lea's,"

"Yep, well the man does seem to have an annoying amount of vampire knowledge,"

"Speaking of vampire knowledge. I have just learnt a great spell." She beamed at the group, putting her hand on her wand, she turned to Damon. "Pretend we aren't friends, and you are hungry, let me see if I can stop you."

Elena looked at her petite friend in concern as Damon smirked. He blurred at her, only to find once he got within two metres he grounded back to human speed.

"What the...?" he said confused stopped. Azalead whipped her wand out of her pocket and stunned the vampire. With a grunt he fell to the floor. Stefan looked between his brother and the redhead in amazement, while Elena frowned.

"What just happened?" she asked.

"I found a spell, against vampires." Azalea beamed. "If they are within two metres from me, it makes them stay at human speed giving me more aim time." I said mimicking attacking Damon, in doing so she took the spell off him. He stood back up. "I realised most vamps are Muggles, so they'll not have the sense to speed straight away. They are cocky and want the drama with the eyes and fangs." She eyed Damon, who pulled his lips down, nodding.

"Then I can go on the attack, that's my biggest disadvantage with vampires, speed. I have aim more than Bonnie does."

"That's amazing," Elena gasped, looking at Damon, then the holly stick, the Azalea.

"And if they don't monologue?" Damon said, looking at his friend with amusement.
"Please." Azalea scoffed. "All vampires monologue,"

Stefan snorted amused.

"Can't I just lock you up downstairs? That seems the best way to keep you safe."
"Haha," Azalea mocked.

"I dunno, I think it sounds like a great idea." Stefan said. "We could get you guys a nice little set up down there."

"You're not funny," Elena said nudging him. "Anyway we should go, it's almost eleven." She said to Stefan getting up from the sofa then looking at Azalea. "We are going to meet Caroline, Bonnie and Matt for lunch today if you want to join,"

"Sure, it will be nice to see Caroline, congratulate her in person."

Damon waved as the group left for the Grill, when Elena parked up they could see the group in the window.

"Hello Miss Mystic!" Azalea said as she got within sight of the group, and hugged Caroline.

"Lea!" she hugged the redhead tightly. "I am so glad that you are feeling better. Elena told me you were really sick,"
"I wasn't sick, I –"

"Yes, you were," Elena scowled at her.

"No, I wasn't. I didn't vomit once."

"I didn't say you threw up,"
"You did, you said I was sick."
"I think we are having another translation issue." Stefan jumped in. "Here it doesn't necessarily mean throw up, it means you were unwell."
"Oh,"

"So… being sick only means throwing up in England?" Matt said.

"What word do you use then?" Caroline asked.
"We say we were ill,"
The group stayed for hours, they ate, played pool and then darts. For a few hours, Azalea got to feel like she was actually doing what she had come to Mystic Falls to do. Recharge… Destress… Heal…

When she gets back Jenna is over at the house, she and Alaric are curled up on the coach watching a movie. She snuck past the happy couple and went up to her ensuite. Brushing her teeth and getting ready for bed hoping that the next day would be just as fun as today had been.

Around midday redhead had another lesson with the older Bennet witch, she could tell she was making more progress, but she was still frustrated that she hadn't been able to do much, and what she had done had completely exhausted her. It felt like she was fighting her own magic tooth and nail for even an inch of this new kind. When she left she had a nap before going over to the Salvatore house to try and help Damon work out what the device was.

With little success Azalea found it hard to focus the next day at school. Wondering how her own magic may be able to help unlock the secrets of this device without destroying it. She was reading through some books she had ordered about how to aid magic with modern muggles technologies when she heard her doorbell ring. She opened it to find Elena looking frustrated. She let her friend in and put the kettle on, Elena began to tell her what had happened.

"He went straight for my mom," she said angrily, as the redhead handed her a mug. "I wanted to strangle him."

"Rightly so. What did you say back?"

Some of the anger melted from her face, she almost looked shy for a moment.

"Which mother," she said mischievously. Azalea snorted.

"Brilliant," she gasped. "Elena Gilbert you are brilliant."

Elena was grinning a little. The two girls continued to chat about the events of the last few weeks and some idea of how to deal with it. Both were surprised when there was another knock on the door.

She opened it, and her face fell.

"What do you want John?"
"Is Elena here?" he asked.

"You have some nerve coming to my door after what you said to her. Especially as you seem to know so much about me."
"Is that a threat," he said sounding a little amused. Elena walked up behind her friend.

"What do you want?"
"Jenna is getting dinner ready. She asked me to come and get you." He said. She scoffed at him, then turned to Azalea.

"Hey you can stay here if you want. Text Jenna saying he pissed you off," she suggested.

"As much as I wanna do that, it isn't fair on Jenna." She said, then hugged her friend. "See you soon Lea,"

Once Elena left, Azalea felt her phone vibrate she looked to see a text from Ric saying he was looking into a lead with Damon. At the though of having the house to herself for a few hours she decided to have a long bubble bath, she tried to relax and have an evening where she did normal things. Getting into fluffy pyjamas, she went downstairs to watch a show Jeremy had been recommending to her. She had just gotten past the fourth episode when she heard keys in the door. She paused her show and leaned over the sofa to greet her Uncle.

Her mood changed when she saw his frazzled expression.

"Alaric… What?" she stopped talking as the History teacher hugged her tightly.

"Isobel," he stammered, as he let her go. "She wants to meet Elena and if I don't tell her she'll kill everyone in the town… starting with you."

"Wow, so she knows about me, but she doesn't know about me coming back to life… Or does she just know I am your niece?"

"She said if you tried to intervene, she'd snap your little twig in half so I'm thinking she knows you're a witch. She may not know who you are. I'm not sure, she didn't say."

"It'll be fine Ric," she said touching his arm gently. "Come on, let's have some tea, and maybe a snack. We can't do anything else till we talk to Elena, so let's try and relax a little or we'll both have nightmares." She said, she turned to walk towards the kitchen, but her Uncle tugged her around and hugged her again.

"You've been through enough. God, I wish I could –"

"Please," she said in a teasing tone. "This isn't even the scariest thing to happen to me this month, it's all going to be fine. Now pick a film," she said sternly, gently tugging herself out of his grip. "I'll get the snacks."

"I'm not done," he said.

"There's more," she raised an eyebrow.

"There are still some of the tomb vampires that want revenge on Mystic Falls and the Founders."

"Is that where you went with Damon?"
"We had a lead on Isobel, turns out it was a tomb vampire John has been helping –"

"John is –"

"He was using him to keep tabs on the tomb vampires,"

"Which is why you now know their plan. Brilliant." She sighed. "We can worry about that tomorrow. For now, let's just breath, and do something normal."

I hope you guys liked this chapter as we getting close to the end of season 1. Let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions of what you would like to see in future chapters It took me a while to write this one, work out roughly how many days between the last episode, and taking out the stuff with Stefan xx
