Hey everyone! Hope you are all having a good day and enjoying the story. Sorry if it's going a little slow, I just wanted to include loads of detail and more backstory for how they all meet instead of just shoving their lives together, so it would feel more realistic; the Avengers meet Percy as just some regular kid, nothing really special about him, then weird things happen that pique their interest about Percy, and they slowly start to find out all these crazy things about him. I originally intended to have this chapter and the next chapter as one, but then this chapter turned out longer than I thought so I thought I could spread them out instead. (This is where my too much detail comes in.) On another not, I'm not entirely sure what my uploading schedule is, but I'm going to try for weekly uploads, on Friday/Saturday nights, but that is open to change. You can feel free to let me know if you have preference, or if you want a completely different day! Anyone, I'll shut up now. Enjoy the show!
Chapter 4
'Have a great day, sweetie,' Sally said, kissing Percy's head before ruffling his hair.
'Thanks mum, I'll will,' Percy said. He was trying to act somewhat excited for his mum's sake, but him and school never really went well together. It usually ended with the school blown up, or a bus blown up or-well, you get the idea. Stuff blew up, and Percy always got blamed, which would then result in his expulsion. But this time would be different. He would make his mum proud.
'We better head on in, don't want to be late for your first class,' Paul said.
'Have a good day, you too!' Sally called as they walked towards the building.
Percy and Paul got on well, so they were both happy to have the others company, and at least Percy would know one person in this school, even if Paul was a teacher. That would look pretty sad actually.
'There's some visitors coming in today, famous ones,' Paul said, as they entered the building. 'Should make your first day more interesting.'
'Why? Who's coming?' Percy asked. He was curious, but not that much since he didn't keep up to date on all the celebrities and other famous people nowadays. He'd been preoccupied the last few...years.
Paul was grinning though, so it must have been someone pretty well-known. 'Oh, no one, just... the Avengers!'
Percy stared at him. Was he joking? Why would someone call themselves, "The Avengers"? 'The who now?'
It was Paul's turn to stare now. 'You've never heard of The Avengers?!' Paul exclaimed.
'Ugh, no? Should I?' Percy questioned, bewildered. Paul was gaping at him. 'What! I've been busy. Don't get out much,' Percy said, pouting.
Paul smirked at that. 'You can say that again,' he said putting an arm around his shoulders.
They halted outside a classroom. 'Well, this is your stop. I'll see you later. Have a great day,' he called, already walking away.
'See ya. Hey, wait,' he said, suddenly realising, 'Who are The Avengers?' he all but yelled down the corridor. But Paul was already gone, and the bell had just finished ringing.
Great, already late.
...
'Tony! Would you hurry up! We're gonna be late!,' Clint yelled from where he and Steve were waiting by the car that was going to drive them to the school.
'I'm coming, I'm coming! Geez,' said Tony, waltzing out the door, staring at his phone while drinking what must be his seventh cup of coffee (it was 9am) and those were just the cups Clint had seen.
'Finally,' exclaimed Clint, grabbing Tony's arm and pulling him into the car, Steve behind them.
'Hey!' Tony yelled, 'You spilled my coffee! And it wasn't the cheap kind. You need to buy me another one,' Tony said, turning his nose up in the air exasperatedly.
Clint stared at him. 'You're a billionaire,' he deadpanned.
'So? Billionaires can have feelings too, Clint, and it's very offensive you would think otherwise,' Tony pouted.
Clint rolled his eyes while Cap simply raised his eyebrows, unimpressed.
'Alright, enough, I don't want to have to listen to you two bickering all day. We're already late-' 'Thanks to one of us,' Clint interrupted, glaring at Tony, who ignored him. '-so, let's stop fighting, and act like the adults we all are, agreed?' Steve continued, looking at them pointedly.
They both made noises of acknowledgement. 'Okay then. Let's go save the youth,' Steve said profoundly, as Tony groaned and Clint repeatedly smacked his head against the window.
...
'Still want to "save the youth", Cap?,' Clint spoke lowly.
They were about to walk into the hall where all the students were gathered. Well, gathered is putting it nicely. In reality, the hall was in chaos. Children were running around squealing, teachers were shouting, one kid was even holding a chair in their hands over his head.
Steve was about to intervene when the sound of a mic being turned on screeched through the noise. Silence fell as everyone froze in place.
'Would everyone be so kind as to take their seats? Right. NOW!,' the principle yelled the last part, and everyone immediately scrambled to their seats.
The principle replaced his glare with a smile. 'Excellent. Now I'm sure you're all aware why you're here, but if not, I am pleased to inform you, that we have some very exciting visitors here with us today.'
Murmuring broke out in the crowd. Tony cocked a grin. These kids were going to lose it when they walked in.
'Quiet down, please. Okay. They are here to talk to you all about what they do, but also the dangers involved. So, without further ado, please welcome, The Avengers.'
…...
Percy was so bored. Sure, they had only been sitting in the hall for 5 minutes, but it felt like an eternity. ADHD will do that to you, I guess.
He was still trying to figure out who these avengers were and why they were such a big deal. They sounded familiar, sure, but not enough to be excited about. Well, guess he was about to find out, cause Mr Malone, the principle, just walked in and-oh boy, he had a mic. Percy could guess what was about to happen.
Sure enough, he turned the volume up full before switching the mic on. Th piercing noise rang through the room.
Percy covered his ears, scrunching up his face. Gods, that was loud.
He then blabbed on about why they were here, and who was coming to see them, and why they need to pay attention, blah, blah, blah.
Percy was about to close his eyes for a nap when the hall erupted in cheers as the side door opened and three figures walked in.
...
'Hey kids! I'm Hawkeye, and these are my associates, Captain America, and Iron Man.'
Everyone cheered again at that. 'I'm going to get straight to the point. We are here today because we've been told that some of you like to try and mimic the things we do. Well, sorry to be a spoil sport guys, but I'm gonna have to ask you stop. It's way too dangerous.'
Annoyed muttering commenced. 'Then why do you guys get do it?' one boy beside Percy shouted.
'Well,' Steve answered, 'we aren't regular people. I for one, am a super soldier who fought in World War 2. So not only do I have increased senses, speed, and strength, but I also fought in brutal battles, giving me the experience needed to fight.'
Percy's eyes snapped open. Wait what? Did he just say he thought in World War 2?
'But Hawkeye and Iron Man don't have any cool powers,' a girl challenged.
Steve sighed. This might not be as easy as he thought. 'Powers don't make you a hero, even if they are, cool.'
'Plus, we have other skills and experience that allow us to do what we do,' Clint added. 'Like what?' the girl asked.
'That's classified,' Clint replied. The girl was about to speak up again as the children grew more antsy when Tony jumped in. 'I on the other, have a very cool suit that I designed myself that allows me to fly, shoot guns, beams, the works.'
He has a what now? Who the heck are these guys!?
'So, you're saying if you build weapons and fly about in a suit, then we can fight like you guys?' the kid beside Percy asked.
Tony stopped smirking when he realised what he said. 'Wait, no, that's not what I-'
A scream echoed from through the door the three had walked through.
Then, all of a sudden, the doors smashed to the floor.
