Racing Hearts chapter 3 "The Nightmare " Rosalina opened her eyes. Everything was blurry and she grabbed her knee in pain. She felt a wetness, blood. She hated the sight of blood. Her knee hurt so bad that tears started welling up in her eyes. "Don't worry Rose." A beautiful, blonde lady in turquoise leaned down to help her. This was princess Lilly. Lilly was the queen of the Star Kingdom and her young daughter was little Rosalina. They had often walked together near the forest, gazing at the stars. Lilly wrapped her arms around the child , "Momma is here to help, now can you be strong for me?" She asked. "But Momma it hurts." Rose whimpered. "Don't fret dearest, the stars are cheering you on. Look up and you can see them glimmer brighter for you…..and if you listen real close...you just might hear them." Lilly pointed to the starry sky. Rosalina wiped her eyes and looked up. "I think I can hear them momma…..they're whispering. " She started to stand up. As she stood she cheered up. "Momma, look! I can stand now!" She gloated. "Now that's my girl!" Lilly cheered on. She then had a serious look on her face and gently pulled Rose's face to look at her. "Now promise me dearest, when you fall and hurt yourself, you need to get up….no matter how hard it is…pick yourself up." Rosalina looked at the ground and back to her mother. "I promise." Her and Lilly started walking toward the forest. It was beautiful at night and the two walked there many times before. Rose was holding her mom's hand tightly as they walked. She then saw a shooting star right overhead and let go of Lilly's hand to point at it and follow it across the sky. She walked a little ways from her mom, being transfixed with the star. "It's so pretty momma, do you think it's…" Rose started. She then realized that her mother was gone. She walked in a circle trying to trace her steps. "Mom?...Where are you?" She walked deeper in the woods, not realizing what she was doing, calling out for her mom. She bravely trekked forward, not letting a little thing like getting lost affect her. As she walked she noticed the trees getting taller and they started to block the view of the stars. "This can't be it...can it?"she questioned herself. She turned around and started to go back but no matter which way she turned, the forest just got denser. It became so dense now that she couldn't see the stars or any moonlight seeping through. She could hardly see anything at all. She was walking slowly with her hands in front. All of a sudden her hands hit something. It was something cold….and smooth. A wall of some sort. She looked up and realized that she wasn't in the forest. She knocked on the wall and it made a ping. "It must be metal…..but what kind of metal would be out here in the forest?" Rosalina spoke to herself. Suddenly Rosalina heard something behind her. A whirring noise. The noise almost sounded like a growl but with a mechanical element to it. Rosalina stood still, still facing the wall. She heard a switch turn on, and with it, three red lights came on behind her. She could only tell with the red reflection of the metal wall. The whirring and clanking started getting louder and louder behind her. Her heart was racing as she was cornered.
