Chapter 14: Caught in the Owl's Eyes
One afternoon in the I.M.P Office, Loona is sitting on the receptionist desk as she reads her magazine and drinks her coffee. Berry is sitting on the couch looking at her hellphone as she has her headphones on. Drew is working on his aiming with his knives. Drew then throws a knife on the wall that has a bullseye on it. Razor is cleaning one of his rifles and then places the bullets in the compartment in the gun. Mimmy is sleeping in her little bed next to the couch.
Loona soon hears her phone vibrating. She looks at it to see a text from Millie.
On Loona's Phone Screen:
Millie: Hi Loona, we killed the bastard. We're ready to come back.
Loona then texts the message.
Loona: Sure, give me a sec.
Loona then takes out the grimoire, opens the book, and casts the spell to make a portal. Soon, Moxie, Millie, and Randall enter through the portal.
Millie happily says, "We're back!"
"Hey guys," Loona replies, reading her magazine.
"How did the mission go?" Drew asks.
"Went well. We would have done it soon if Moxxie wasn't acting like a worry wart," Randall says with a grin on her face.
"Sorry that I wanted to plan the situation. We were dealing with a serial killer who was wanted in twenty states for first degree murder, robbery, and human slaughtering. I don't plan on dealing with that kind of person," Moxxie says and crosses his arms with a frown on his face.
"Oh lighten up Moxxie. As long as we got the work done. Who cares," Randall says, rolling his eyes.
"Well, I wanted to make sure we get the job done right," Moxxie says, annoyed.
"Don't worry Moxxie, we still got the job done, and none of us got hurt," Millie happily says, and places her hand on his shoulder.
Moxxie calmly smiles and says, "I suppose so."
Randall looks around and asks, "Hey, where's Blitz?"
"Sarge decided to let Blitz have a break since he's been helping around the office, including with the paperwork and the reception all morning," Razor says, and begin polishing his gun.
"He actually left a few minutes ago. Before you guys came back," Berry says.
"Aw man, I guess we just missed him," Randall says, and crosses his arms.
"Is Blitz going to be safe walking in the city on his own?" Moxxie asks, concerned.
"I don't think we should be worried too much. Blitz has been in the city for at least a few weeks or so," Millie says.
"She's right. And we can always text Blitz to ask him if he's alright," Drew says.
"I suppose so," Moxxie says, still a little worried.
Then wonders, "Still, I wonder what Blitz is up to on his break."
Somewhere in Imp City, Blitz is walking along the sidewalk on his own. Blitz looks around as he's still curious on what kind of places Hell has. Soon, Blitz looks ahead to see a small park.
"Hmm, I didn't know there's a park here," Blitz says, and observes the park.
At the park, there are many Imp children happily playing at the playground. Children are on the slide, swings, jungle gym, etc. There are also a few benches and wooden tables. Blitz is kind of confused that Hell even has a park.
"Weird that there is a park in Hell, but then again, this is a city, and even if it's Hell, it's similar to earth," Blitz says to himself.
He shrugs his shoulders and says, "Might as well have a look around."
Blitz then walks down the path and to the park to see what else the small park has.
Unknown to Blitz, someone else has entered the park on the opposite side. The demon who has entered the park is Stolas as he holds a book. He soon sits on the bench and begins to read his book. It's been days since his encounter with Blitz and I can still remember the good time he had with him. However, Stella has been shouting and screaming since it's been revealed that Stolas has kissed Blitz and been associating with him in their bedroom. Stolas decides to get some air and catch up with some reading. Stolas soon sees Blitz walk into the park as he looks around the area. Blitz is looking sound with his hands behind his head as he's having a relaxing day.
Stolas says to himself in thought, "Oh, it's Blitz. I wonder what he's doing here, and without Sarge and the others? Maybe he's just here by himself today. I wonder what he's up to."
Blitz then looks around to see the park, when he hears kids playing close by. He turns his head to see young Imp children playing with a ball.
A chubby Imp child calls out, "Pass it to me! Pass it to me!"
"Here it comes!" A young girl Imp calls out, and kicks the ball.
The boy tries to catch the ball, but misses, and the ball bounces off the pole close by, and then lands on the top of a pole close by.
"Aw man, that was our only ball!" The girl Imp says, frustrated.
The girl Imp, Chubby boy Imp, and a few others rush over to see the ball up in the tree.
"Looks like we can't play anymore," The Imp boy says.
Seeing the Imp children are having trouble, Blitz walks over to the children.
Blitz calls out, "Um excuse me, do you kids need help?"
The children turn around to see Blitz.
"Um yeah, sir. Our ball is stuck and we can't get it down," The girl Imp says.
Then shaggy haired Imp asks, "Think you can get it down?"
"Sure. I'll get it down," Blitz says.
Blitz then begins to use his tail to reach up the pole and reaches the ball. Blitz slips the end of his tail and bounces it to slide down his tail. He then bops the ball with the base of his tail, bounces it on his head, and lets it land in his hand. The kids smile and clap their hands with glee
Then passes the ball to the girl, "Here you go."
"Thank you sir," The girl says, taking the ball.
"You're welcome," Blitz says.
"That was a really cool trick," A young boy says.
"Yeah. That was cool," Another girl Imp says.
Then the kids begin to play the ball again.
Then Blitz waves, "Bye kids."
"Bye," The kids reply as they run off to play.
Then Blitz walks off and continues to walk around the park.
Stolas can't help but smile and says in his thought, "That was actually kind of him to help the children."
However, something else is also in his mind, "Still, Blitz does seem like a nice demon, even though he's still experiencing Hell's environment and culture. It's a bit concerning to see him on his own." He sighs and says, "This feels very wrong to do so, but perhaps I should follow him. In order to keep an eye on him and make sure he isn't involved with demons who might harm him."
And so, Stolas begins to watch Blitz, from a distance. In other words, Stolas is spying on him.
Blitz walks down the sidewalk after leaving the park. At the same time, Stolas is keeping his distance from Blitz so he won't notice. However, because of his size, trying to hide himself in places like a tree, mailbox, cardboard boxes, makes it difficult. And yet, he's able to hide in the corner of the building on an alley.
Stolas continues to watch as Blitz walks down the sidewalk. He soon stops to see a homeless Imp, in rundown and ragged clothes, sitting in front of a cardboard box and holding a cup. Blitz then decides to take 10 Soul bills from his backpack and places it in the homeless Imp's cup. The homeless Imp smiles to see what he has received. Then continues to walk off, unaware that Stolas witnesses it. Then Blitz ends up finding a piece of trash on the floor, more like an old empty plastic cup. He picks it up and throws it in the recycling bin. After that, Blitz notices a middle aged female Imp with a child and they're waiting with an elderly female Imp waiting at the sidewalk to cross the street, and it's busy. Stolas watches and wonders what Blitz is going to do.
Blitz walks over to them and asks, "Um excuse me, do you need help crossing the street?"
"Oh thank you," The female Imp says.
"You're quite the gentleman," The elderly Imp says.
And so, Blitz helps the three cross the streets as a few cars come to a stop. Soon, the group finally crossed the street and Blitz continued on, going his separate ways.
Stolas can't help but smile and says in thought, "Oh my, quite a gentleman."
Time has gone by since the observation, and Stolas notices Blitz walking inside the coffee shop called Imp's Coffee.
"Hmm," Stolas replies, curiously.
And so, Stolas decides to walk inside to see Blitz waiting at a small table close by, making sure he isn't spotted.
Suddenly, he hears one of the employees behind the counter call out, "Blitz." And places an iced coffee with a small bag on the counter.
Hearing his name, Blitz walks over to get his drink and small bag. Stolas walks over to Blitz and is still curious and a little too deep in thought. Blitz then turns around after getting his food and drink and plans to leave the cafe. Just then, Blitz and Stolas end up bumping into each other without paying attention and fall to the ground, and Blitz spills his coffee in the process. Blitz sits up and to his surprise, he sees Stolas sitting on the ground and has coffee spilled all over him.
"Oh uh, hi Stolas. I, uh, didn't expect to see you here," Blitz says, a little surprised.
Stolas remains calm and says, "I'm… I'm doing alright. Are you okay?"
"I'm okay," Blitz answers.
He soon notices the coffee that's been spilled all over Stolas' clothes, mainly his pants and the lower area of Stolas' shirt. Blitz becomes shocked and quickly grabs the napkins from a nearby table.
"I… I am so sorry," Blitz quickly says, and begins to help clean up Stolas' clothes with the napkins. "Man, I'm sorry for spilling your drink all over you and…"
"It's quite alright. It was an accident after all," Stolas says.
Blitz blushes a bit from embarrassment and says, "Um okay."
Blitz and Stolas stand up on their feet. Of course, Blitz helps Stolas, much to his surprise.
"Again, I am so sorry this happened," Blitz says.
"Blitz, I said it's okay. I know you didn't mean for it to happen. And uh, thank you for helping me clean up my clothes," Stolas says.
"Um, you're welcome," Blitz replies.
"I can pay you for a new drink," Stolas says.
But Blitz says, "I can't ask you to do that. I can pay for my own drink."
Stolas chuckles and says, "I insist. I was also thinking of buying myself a drink anyway."
"As long as you're sure, okay," Blitz replies, blushing a bit.
And so, Stolas buys himself and Blitz a new drink and is now sitting at a small table next to a window.
"So Blitz, how was your time with Sarge and the company? Of course, it has been a few days since we first met," Stolas asks.
"I've been doing good. Of course, I've been helping Sarge with the paperwork, cleaning, oranzing, helping Loona with the clients, and such," Blitz says.
"That sounds nice," Stolas replies.
Then Blitz asks, "So um, how are things doing at your place?"
"Oh um," Stolas says, reluctantly, "It's okay. However, Stella has been getting on my case after what happened. I kind of had to tell her about you and me and such. Now she won't stop shouting at me that I associated with you and kissed you."
Blitz blushes, "Yeah."
Then says, "Listen, I am so sorry you got in trouble. I feel that I'm part of the reason you got in trouble."
"No no, it's quite alright. You never expected this to happen. Besides, I kind of personally blame Randall for it. However, good did happen, we both had a good talk, and we learned a bit about each other," Stolas says.
"You're right about," Blitz says.
Then Blitz asks, "So Stolas, how are you doing with your royal duties and all that? I can imagine it keeps you busy."
"Oh no," Stolas chuckles, "Not that busy, but I do have to keep studying the stars and the earth's skies, and reading prophecies and all that."
"Well, it sounds like a lot of work," Blitz says.
"Possibly, but when you do the tasks as long as I have, it comes down easy, but it does get a bit boring and tiring after a while," Stolas says.
"I suppose so. I mean, I've worked on my performances for a long time, but it becomes easy after the training I've had. And it has become pretty difficult after what happened at the circus, and when I first came here. When I was first asked to come here, I was a little worried about coming here. I've read a book about Hell, but here it seems a lot different than what I've read in books," Blitz says.
Stolas giggles, "I suppose that's understandable considering that you lived on Earth your whole life. But you are correct. Like earth, we demons also adapt and have advancement in technology, but for some, especially some sinners, prefer to be in their own time period. The time period they lived before they landed in Hell."
"Really?" Blitz asks, taking an interest.
"Indeed. Of course, some sinners are able to move on and follow with the present time, others just continue to stay with their values and time period. Of course, there are some who like to remain attached to their attire and culture from their time period," Stolas says.
"I see," Blitz says.
Then Stolas asks, "So Blitz, anything else that you can tell me about your life in the circus."
"Well, everything seems the same. I worked with my performances, took care of the animals, had fun for family members, and we hung out with the many friends who live in the circus with us. Of course, I do also have some fun with Mimmy," Blitz says.
"Mimmy?" Stolas asks, interested.
"Oh, Mimmy is my pet kitten. I'll show you," Blitz says and brings out his cellphone.
He then presents the video of little Mimmy playing with a ball of yarn and she meows and purrs.
"Aww, she looks adorable," Stolas happily gushes.
"Yeah. She's a sweetheart, but she can be a troublemaker sometimes, especially when she keeps trying to play with my tail," Blitz says.
"I think she's adorable. I wouldn't mind seeing her," Stolas says.
"I don't mind introducing you to her. I'm sure she'll like you," Blitz says.
Then nervously chuckles, "Although, it will be concerning if she starts playing with your tail like her toy feather."
"I'm sure it won't be a problem. I'm sure Octavia would love to meet Mimmy as well. And I'm sure she would love to see your family's circus," Stolas says.
"I think she might," Blitz says.
Then asks, "What about your wife?"
"Um…" Stolas says, skeptic.
Then sheepishly says, "I don't think she'll be into that stuff."
"It's okay. I understand if she's not much into the circus. Circus isn't for everyone after all," Blitz says.
Then wonders, "Then again, does Hell even have a circus?"
"Of course they have circuses. Hell is similar to Earth, but does have its own differences. I'm sure Sarge and the others explain that to you," Stolas says.
"They actually did. Of course, I still have a lot to learn about living here. " Blitz says.
He then says, "I think I should get going. I'm sure the others are wondering why I was taking so long. And I'm sure Mimmy is waiting for me too."
"Of course. I hope that we'll have more to talk about when you're not working," Stolas says.
"Of course. I'll see you around. Bye," Blitz says and leaves the cafe with his drink.
"Bye," Stolas says.
Sometime later in the I.M.P HQ, the group has been working in office, dealing with clients, going to the human world to kill the target, fixing weapons, and such.
Loona looks at the clock to see that it's a half hour past three, "Hmm, Blitz should have been back right now."
"You're right. Blitz has been gone for over an hour. Well, maybe around two hours or so," Berry says.
"Well, maybe Blitz is caught up in a conversation with someone," Millie says.
"Somehow I doubt it," Drew says.
"Don't worry, I'm sure Blitz will be fine and will be back soon," Razor replies.
Just then, the company door opens and Blitz walks in as he says, "I'm back."
"Hey Blitz, glad you're back," Randall says.
"Um yeah. Sorry to worry everyone. I was walking around the city a bit, and bought a coffee, and I ended up meeting up with Stolas there," Blitz says.
"You ran into Stolas? At a coffee shop?" Berry says, confused.
"It doesn't seem that surprising. I mean, it's just a coffee shop," Drew says.
Berry replies, "That's true."
"So what did you two talk while at the coffee shop?" Moxxie asks.
"Well, we did talk a little bit about our daily routine and such," Blitz says.
"That's good," Millie says.
"It's kind of weird that you ran into him at a coffee shop. You know, since he's a prince and all," Randall says.
"I don't know. I mean, just because he's a prince, doesn't mean that he can't do everyday lives like everyone else," Blitz replies.
"He has a point," Berry says.
"Still, how is your time with the prince going?" Loona asks.
"It went well. We had a good chat, and such, and I hope that we can talk to each other soon," Blitz says.
"You know, I'm surprised that you and Stolas you two have gotten along pretty fast. Then again, Stolas seems a little more friendly than other Goeitas, besides Octavia," Berry says.
"Yeah. I can tell that Stolas is good to get along with," Blitz says.
Just then, Mimmy walks over with a, "Meow." She then rubs her body around Blitz's legs.
Blitz giggles, "Hey Mimmy, were you fine while I was gone," and picks up Mimmy.
Mimmy purrs as she leans her head to Blitz' chest.
"So Blitz, Randall told us that you have got along pretty well since the 'Not Divorce' party," Berry says.
Blitz blushes, "I don't know about that. I mean, Stolas and I just first met, so there isn't anything between us. Besides, Stolas is still married to Stella, so yeah. I don't know about that."
"That doesn't actually stop other demons. Demons can have multiple partners and some don't actually care," Drew says.
"Besides, it's plain to see that Stolas likes you and really hates that bitch, Stella," Randall says.
Then grins, "Especially since you and Stolas kissed each other, twice."
"The first time was because of you," Razor sternly says.
"Maybe so, but Stolas and Blitz kissed each other on their own after that," Randall says.
Blitz blushes a bit.
"Still, it seems obvious that you seem to like him too, Blitz," Millie says.
"Well, I guess I kind of like him, and all, but we just first met. I mean, sure I like him now, and all that…" Blitz says.
Then Moxxie steps in, "Alright everyone, Blitz is clearly feeling uncomfortable about it, so maybe we should stop talking about it for the time being."
"Alright," Randall says.
Everyone agrees and simply just heads back to work. Blitz sighs in relief and decides to help the others on what they can around the company. When the others aren't looking, Blitz can't help but smile and think about his conversation with Stolas. He actually hopes they can hang out again really soon.
Meanwhile, at his home, Stolas is sitting at his balcony and is deep in thought about the conversation he has with Blitz today, and the day they first met. He remembers the nice conversation, along with the good deed Blitz has done while spying on him from a distance.
He then says, "I hope to see you again soon, Blitz. I want to be able to be with you more often, after so many years of being apart."
Stolas soon has his cheeks turning red as he has a smile on his face, and small white pupils in his eyes become small heart shapes.
