Eddie had his eyes fixated on Kagome as he waited for her answer. Kagome thought it was endearing that under the tough appearance was someone so caring. The faint blush coloring his cheeks in addition to his big puppy eyes with dilated pupils made him even more handsome than his usual self.

"I am," she answered. "I want you."

He was on her lips in a blink. She raised his shirt as her hands traveled up his torso. He didn't have a muscular body or a six-pack. He wasn't defined as an athlete. She tied strands of her hair around the wood and prayed. Then, she handed the arrows to Max, Dustin and Eddie.

Those three had the most dangerous roles in the plan. They would be responsible for drawing Vecna's attention. The reasoning behind this suicidal scheme was simple: spread and conquer. Even with a hive mind, Vecna probably needed focus when targeting someone, possibly even a resting time since he didn't approach them when they crossed the portal at the lake and their friend Eleven had a similar drawback. Max would bait him to get her; Dustin and Eddie would draw as much attention as possible and drive away the demobats and other monsters. Steve, Nancy, Robin and Kagome would finish off Vecna while he was distracted and vulnerable.

Kagome kept a strong face while breaking down inside. She wasn't attached to Hawkins but her new friends already made a home in her heart. She wanted them safe but couldn't prevent them from trying to protect their city. She would do her best to aid them.

Many things could be said about Edward Munson, except that he avoided being under the spotlight. He knew how to be cautious, hence his somewhat successful 'business', but in any other situation, he reveled in the attention. In the face of danger and imminent death, he was no different.

Eddie's plan was exactly what Kagome expected from him. It relied on extreme luck, quick reflexes and terrible choices - basically a disaster waiting to happen. Playing the guitar on top of his reinforced trailer was anything but safe. So many factors could go wrong that Kagome almost called the whole plan off. Except they wouldn't stop whether she went with them or not. She wondered if her mother felt like this whenever she jumped down the well. Kagome would give her mother a call as soon as possible.

After they dropped off Lucas, Erica and Max at the old Creel house, the group headed to the trailer park. Steve left the trailer hidden but easily accessible if needed and they used the darkness of the night to sneak to the back door of Eddie's house.

The arrow was still pinned to the ceiling with the sutra. It was shaking as if someone was trying to take it off. Steve jumped and grabbed the arrow. It broke in half and tore the paper. The roof cracked as the portal to the Upside Down reopened.

They waited a few seconds to see if any creature would appear. When nothing came, the plan was put into action. They had to abuse interdimensional physics but made it to the other side.

"If things start to go south, forget the plan and get away," warned Steve. "Don't try to be pretty or be the hero. You're only-."

"Decoys. We know. You do your thing and let us play our parts, okay? You can keep all the heroship to yourself," dismissed Eddie.

Kagome pulled Dustin into a tight embrace. He was such a bad-mouthed brave kid. She then did the same to Eddie. He pulled her into a kiss before letting go. Kagome welcomed the display of affection, even though she wasn't expecting it at such a moment.

"You go and save the day, okay? I'll be waiting."

Kagome's eyes watered. She blinked away the tears and nodded, then joined the others. She looked back one last time before walking away.

Kagome walked ahead with Robin. The walk seemed longer than it was supposed but they managed to get to the manor. A horde of bats filled the roofs and surrounding trees. They didn't see any Demogorgon, though.

Robin radioed Dustin to check if they were ready. Once Erica's signal came, they started.

Even being quite far from the trailer park, they still managed to hear when Eddie started his performance. It was possible to imagine him posing on top of the roof as if he was on a stage, playing to an audience. His tongue would be sticking out as the lyrics played inside his head while his face was hard as he paid attention to every note. Kagome had never been to a Corroded Coffin gig but it all clicked.

The bats took the bait. All of them flew towards the sound, leaving the house unguarded. Vecna hid inside the building, Kagome was sure. Kagome felt him as his energy spiked a few times. It appeared he didn't acknowledge their presence yet. Maybe their theory was correct and he indeed became vulnerable when attacking someone. Or it was a trap and he was playing with them and they were all already doomed. Either way, they would try their chances.

They swiftly entered the house, avoiding the vines on the floor. It was like playing the 'floor is lava', except that stepping in the wrong place might really mean you're dead. Kagome wanted to get it done as fast as possible. She had a terrible feeling about this whole situation, and not just because the whole situation was terrible by the standard.

A hit on the stomach sent Kagome flying. She was thrown to a wall. The vines rose and grabbed her arms and legs. Nancy, Robin and Steve were in no better shape, stuck and resisting the grip on their neck and limbs. The attack was so sudden they didn't have time to react. Their weapons lay on the floor, out of their reach.

Kagome felt the nagging on her mind barriers. Here, Vecna was much stronger, but so she was. The lack of air made it almost impossible to concentrate on anything but protecting herself from the mental blasts. However, every once in a while Vecna's grip on her would falter. Unlike their previous encounters, he seemed unfocused and distracted. Kagome didn't care about what caused it, only that it was the opening she needed.

The tips of her fingers glowed as holy energy gathered around them. While sending bolts of energy was still beyond her abilities, Kagome didn't need an arrow as a medium. She bent her wrist until she touched a vine. It started to burn and she was released. She grabbed an arrow and let her energy flow through it. Their cover was blown, so she ran and slashed everything on the way. The others fell on their knees as they recovered their breaths.

"I'm going ahead!"

Kagome sprinted to the attic. Vecna hoovered above the floor with vines coming out of his back. He stood motionless with his eyes closed. Kagome tightened her grip on the arrow. She hated thinking about what she had to do, but couldn't think of another solution. She picked her bow and aimed at Vecna's chest.

The others arrived when Vecna opened his eyes. He was spellbound by her enchantment. A screeching came from everywhere. The vines started to shake and break.

"I leave the rest to you," said Kagome. "I'm going back for Eddie and Dustin."

The last thing she saw was Nancy getting her rifle and Robin lighting up the Molotovs. With renewed energy from the adrenaline, she ran back to the trailer park, not looking back even when she heard explosions and a shot.

Her heart constricted as she felt the angst from Dustin's aura. Her legs burned from exhaustion but she kept her speed until she saw Dustin whimpering and holding Eddie's body. She held back the tears. There was no time to waste.

"Dustin! Dustin, calm down, okay?" The boy looked at her with swollen red eyes. Kagome tried to find Eddie's pulse. It was faint, but still there. There was blood all over his body and face. Some of the punctures had already coagulated, while others still bled. She couldn't let his heart stop before she treated them. "I need you to do chest compressions on him. Put one hand above the other on his chest and press down, like this. We need to keep his heart beating."

Dustin did as he was told. Kagome got her medikit and started cleaning the open wounds and stitching the worst ones. Her hands glowed as she worked on him. The repetitive movements were draining up Dustin, but he kept going until they heard a hiss.

"Shit! He's awake!"

Kagome tied a knot and moved to face him. His eyes were unfocused and he was still very pale, but the fact he was conscious configured the best scenario possible. She picked a clean gauze and soaked it with clean water to clean his face.

"Am I dead? There's an angel beside me."

Kagome kissed his forehead and smiled. "Master of Puppets? Really?"

"You know Metallica?" His eyes widened.

"I'm more into Queen, but yeah, I know Metallica."

"Henderson, my girl knows Metallica." He dozed off with a smile gracing his lips. His breathing was heavy but constant, and his pulse normalized.

Kagome and Dustin shielded Eddie when an earthquake started shaking the buildings around them. Cracks could be heard but they didn't know where they came from. Not long after, Nancy and the others got there and they headed back home.
