Once seeking for the ultimate blade.
A blade of steel cutting no flesh, nor bones and neither life.
What I seek for is the clearance of resentment.
The cutting of bonds, fate and destiny.
Senji opened his eyes as he awoke from his recurring dream, no mater where his dream started it would always end with that saying. But it makes sense, that is his life goal since he found out he was a son of Hephaestus.
(POV Senji)
I got up from my spot on the bottom of the bunkbed and got ready for this new day. I got my bag of clothes from under the bed and changed, as I did I happened to catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror. I haven't changed much from last time, I have red hair and hazel eyes. I think I turned 18 this year but i can be bothered to remember, I'm to focused on my blades.
I live in the Hephaestus cabin at Camp Halfblood, our cabin is the biggest because we need a forge. From what I know Camp Halfblood has existed for at least three millennial, its here to keep demigods like me safe from any monsters. But it is used mostly as a training camp to teach us how to survive, we are trained by the centaur Chiron.
I arrived here when i was just 9 years old shortly after my mother passed, she was Japanese. She was killed by monsters attracted by my demigod scent, for a while a hated those monsters. I wanted nothing more than revenge for what they took from me, and then I was claimed. the hammer and anvil hovered above my head and I instantly knew there was another way, a way to end this nonstop war between demigod and monster.
i looked up at the top bunk after changing clothes, "Charles wake up, there are things to do" I said. I heard a grunted reply as a headed for the forges to my work bench, it was covered with designs of katanas. I decided to honor my human heritage and kind of got attached to the idea of katanas, so much so I've only ever made katanas.
"Hey Senji, did you hear about the new demigod?" asked Charles, as he entered the forges and went to his section. "its not exactly surprising another showed up so what's so different about this one?" I asked Charles. "they say he killed a minotaur before he even made it to camp" said Charles excitedly as he used his power over fire to heat up the forge.
"that's exciting, maybe he will use a katana?" I said jokingly, for no one at camp half blood uses one but me. so the stack of blades in the corner are all mostly unused, though there was that hunter who took one two years ago but the hunters of Artemis haven't come back to camp since then. I was interested in asking how she liked it.
"maybe, are you going to make another sword today?" asked Charles, which is a valid question for I do that more than I probably should. I looked over to see him tinkering with some silver and copper, unlike me he's more interested in machines. I around to see who else woke up and take a moment to admire this forge.
There are white marble columns lining walls stained with soot. Chimneys on the roof pump smoke over a gable with carvings of gods and monsters. The forge is located at the edge of a stream, with waterwheels spinning bronze gears. I absolutely love it here, this place is my true home. it seems two more of my cabin mates have woken up and are planning what they are going to do today.
"no, I think I'm going to train today, want to go grab breakfast?" I respond then remembered I need to eat breakfast. I see Leo shrug and follow me as I walk to the dining pavilion, on the way I wave back to those who recognize me as walk by. Right before I get there I encounter the Hermes cabin leader Luke.
"oh, its quite the surprise to see you out of the forge Senji" said Luke as we both stood at the entrance to the pavilion. he was a college-aged young man with an athletic, muscular build. He had short-cropped sandy blonde hair, blue eyes, a sharp nose, and the sneaky look like all of Hermes demigod children.
"yeah I get what you mean, so what's this I heard about a minotaur slayer?" i said after laughing at his accurate statement. I knew it seemed like me and Luke are friends but for one reason or another we never got closer then good acquaintance's.
"yeah he came to the gate a two nights ago with a minotaur on his tail but he turned back at the last second and Grover said he killed it, he has been asleep since then" explained Luke. We both went our separate ways because every cabin has a different table, Charlie who was caught up looking at a Aphrodite girl while I talked to Luke caught up and sat with me a the Hephaestus table.
Breakfast was a quite at first but once more of the demigods arrived it couldn't help but get a little noisy. especially when the Ares cabin arrived, they are always a rowdy lot. After finishing breakfast and saying a see you later to Leo I went back to the Forge and grabbed my newest Katana. Once I had it in my hand I rushed to the Sword fighting Arena, I don't fight other campers anymore for there's no real practice there.
The only ones who can keep up with me are Luke and a daughter of Athena named Annabeth. I entered my form and just practiced, swinging horizontally or vertically. With every swing the wind cries, but the blade never stopped. not until hours had passed and many people have come and gone from the arena, these people are used to this scene.
I only stopped when the horn rang for dinner, my arms where aching and my stomach wanted to loudly complain about its emptiness. this is the routine of Senji Muramasa, which unknown to him will soon be interrupted.
