Hi, everyone! Here's the first chapter of my brand new story. I've seen many Static Shock fanfic stories that are incomplete. But mine will be completed as I am full of ideas for this series. I hope you enjoy my first TV show fanfic story.
I don't own Static Shock or its characters. I only own Ruby Hawkins/Magnetta and my OCs. If you want to know what my OCs are, read my fanfic called Static Shock OC's.
Shock to the System
In the middle of the night, there was a warehouse with a truck parked outside. Inside the warehouse, three thieves were stealing some electronics from shelves as they placed them inside their truck. There were also two security guards tied together with rope.
"Speed it up! We don't have all night!" 1st Theif said as he was holding a TV.
"Why are you sweating me, dude? The guards are on ice. The alarms shut off. Everything's covered." The 2nd Thief said as he was also holding a TV.
As the first Thief walked toward the truck, the light above him began to flash on and off. Until a shot of purple electricity was shot at the cord of the TV that turned it on.
"Huh?" The Theif said as he looked at the TV. Until he was shot by a purple electric bolt that knocked him into a stack of boxes.
"What the heck is up with that?" 3rd thief asked until he and the 2nd thief were shot by two white magnetic rays that knocked them down, making them drop the TVs they had in their hands.
"You mean, what up with that? Either you slang properly, or don't use it at all." Static said as he flew on a manhole lid with his cousin and partner, Magnetta flying with him as her body glowed white.
"Static, less talking about slang and more focusing on fighting these guys." Magnetta said.
"Where's the fun in that Magnetta?" Static asked.
"It's a kid on a flying manhole and a girl glowing white!" The 3rd Theif yelled.
"I don't care if it's Aladdin on his magic carpet or his girl Genie of the Lamp. Get them!" The 2nd Theif said as they both ran after Static and Magnetta with crowbars.
Magnetta held out her hands as they glowed white with the crowbars glowing white as they were pulled to her hands as she threw them away. While Static used his powers to pull in the metal objects the thieves had in their jackets.
"Metal Weapons and dumb thugs. How easy does it get?" Static asked as he blew them up.
"Aah! Come on, let's get out of here!" The 2nd Theif yelled as he and the 3rd Theif were about to run away.
"You can't get away from me that easy!" Magnetta said as she flew towards the 2nd Theif as she used her Magnetic Strike to punch him towards a stack of boxes.
"I call that my Magnetic Strike. Pretty cool, huh?" Magnetta asked as her fist glowed white.
"Good one, cous! Like turning on lights in a roach motel." Static said as he went after the third Theif and punched him with his Taser Punch.
"That's my Taser Punch. Shocking, isn't it?" Static said as his fist glowed with purple electricity.
"Static, look out!" Magnetta said as she pointed at the stack of boxes.
Static looked behind him as the stack of boxes collapsed on him and Magnetta as the 2nd Theif drove out a forklift.
"I got them, dude, I guess..huh?" The 2nd Theif said as he noticed the pile of boxes repelled by Static and Magnetta as they flew up from the pile.
"Okay, so you caught us off guard. We're new at this, so sue us!" Static yelled as the 2nd and 3rd Theif glowed white while the 1st Theif was struck by a purple electric bolt as he was lifted with the other 2 thieves.
"It's not that we have a curfew, but we really got to speed this up." Magnetta said as she and Static magnetized them to the ceiling.
"Stick around fellas. You've got company. Let's fly Magnetta!" Static said as he shot a purple lightning blast out of an open roof making an arrow pointing down as it says: 'BAD GUYS THIS EXIT!'
The police arrived at the warehouse to arrest the thieves as Static and Magnetta flew down to the ground as they hid in a stack of boxes.
'Piece of cake, with frosting and sprinkles. Our first bad guy beatdown, and we hardly broke a sweat!' Static thought.
'Yeah, it's hard to believe that just two days ago, we were the last persons you'd call hero material.' Magnetta thought.
Two Days Ago
It was a beautiful morning in the city of Dakota. A young African American girl was in her room getting ready for school. She had an hourglass figure, black eyes, and black hair that flows freely behind her back. She was wearing a white long-sleeved pajama shirt, midriff exposed, red pajama pants, and was barefoot. Her room had posters of magnets and the Solar System. She had sports trophies on the shelves on her wall, a bookshelf of books about Magnetism and Gravity, and a collection of rap CDs close to her nightstand with a container full of bar and u-shaped magnets. She was putting stuff in her backpack until she heard her door open.
"Hey cousin, you only got a few minutes before breakfast." Sharon said as she leaned at the door wearing a pink bathrobe.
"Don't worry Sharon, I'll be downstairs in a minute." Ruby said as she looked at Sharon.
"Just hurry up. And make sure to clean up your rap CDs before they make a mess." Sharon said as she left.
"Okay, I will." Ruby said.
Sharon is Ruby's older cousin. They both get along with each other, while Virgil doesn't. Ruby always supports Sharon and helps her out whenever she needs it.
She was looking under her bed when she noticed that it was too dark. She reached out her magnet generator and she inserted a bar magnet through the current as it lit up. She then noticed one of her books about magnetism as she grabbed it.
"Feels good to use magnets for everyday lives." Ruby said as she put the book away on her bookshelf.
She walked down the stairs with her backpack as she was wearing a white short-sleeved shirt, a red skirt that goes down to her mid-thighs, and blue converse shoes. That's when she noticed her cousin Virgil bumping into his dad, Robert Hawkins. Virgil is the same age as Ruby and would usually spend time together. Robert Hawkins is her uncle who runs a Community Center.
"Are you okay Virgil?" Ruby asked as she helped Virgil get up.
"Yeah, I'm fine Ruby." Virgil said.
"Sorry son, I'm in a hurry this morning." Robert said.
"I feel you, pops. Got a big day in front of me myself." Virgil said.
"How big?" Ruby asked as they walked to the kitchen.
"Big, big, big! I'm taking my friendship with Frieda to another level. Gonna ask her to homecoming." Virgil said as he and Ruby sat down.
"What'd she ever do to you?" Sharon asked as she served Virgil and Ruby watery eggs.
"What's this? An egg smoothie?" Virgil asked.
"You know, that's just the way mama made them." Sharon explained.
"Funny, I don't recall ever needing a straw to eat hers." Virgil said.
"Come on, Virgil. Your sister went to all this trouble, and your cousin was nice enough to help her. The least you could do is give them a try." Robert said as he left.
"He's right, Virgil. I've been helping her get better with her cooking, and we should at least be thankful for what she serves us for breakfast." Ruby said as she ate her eggs.
"At least someone appreciates my food." Sharon said.
Sharon isn't very good at cooking. Ruby decided to help her so she'll be able to make food for Virgil without hearing him complain. Ruby knows a little about cooking, and she doesn't mind making her own breakfast.
"Mama, if you're listening, I could use some help here." Virgil said.
All of a sudden, the phone rang.
"Hello? Hey Teddy." Sharon said on the phone with a flirty tone.
"Yeah, I really liked that lecture last night. Tonight? You mean a real date?" Sharon said on the phone.
Virgil came close to Sharon as he started imitating kissing sounds.
"Okay, cousin Virgil that's enough smooching for one day." Ruby said as she pulled Virgil away from Sharon as she gave Ruby a thankful smile.
"Let me check my schedule. Of course, I have a schedule. No, I don't have a little black book, it's paisley." Sharon said as she left the kitchen.
When Sharon left, Virgil dumped his eggs in the trash can. While Ruby was already done with hers.
"Good looking out, moms." Virgil said as he left the kitchen.
"Real smooth, Virg." Ruby said with an annoyed look.
"Mmm, mmm. Fluffy egg goodness." Virgil said as he pretended to like Sharon's eggs.
When she got to Dakota Union High, some of the boys started to swoon over her. Ruby's known for being one of the popular girls in school for competing in many sports and being one of the most beautiful girls in school. She was getting a book from her locker, and when she closed it, she saw her best friend, Allie Langford, leaning close to her. She's an African American girl who's the same age as Ruby. She has green eyes and brown hair that goes down to her chest. She was wearing a yellow sleeveless shirt, midriff exposed, brown pants, and black shoes. Allie and Ruby have been best friends since kindergarten. Allie's always there for her when she needs her, and Ruby would do the same for Allie. They would tell each other what they were feeling and would trust each other with secrets.
"Hi, Ruby!" Allie said as Ruby saw her.
"Hi, Allie!" Ruby said as she gave Allie a high-five.
"So, are you looking forward to homecoming?" Allie said as she and Ruby walked down the halls.
"Yeah. But as usual, I won't have a date." Ruby said.
"Why not? I overheard some of the guys wanting to take you to the dance. You're juggling with most of the boys at school." Allie said.
"I'm sure I am, but none of those boys are my type." Ruby said.
"Oh, come on, do you want to stay single for the rest of your life?" Allie joked.
"Of course not! I just..." Ruby was about to say something but was interrupted by a voice.
"Well, well, well, if it isn't Maggie Grave." A feminine voice said.
It was revealed to be a beautiful woman who's the same age as Ruby and Allie. She has fair skin, blue pupilless eyes, and brown hair that flows freely below her chest. She was wearing a yellow short-sleeved shirt, midriff exposed, a black skirt that goes down to her mid-thighs, and yellow flats. It was Kathryn Collins, one of the most popular and beautiful girls in school. She would give her physical bullying or hurt her with disrespectful words like a Bully Magnet or Maggie Grave because of her love of magnets and science.
Kathryn shoved Allie away as she grabbed Ruby by her shirt, and threw her towards the lockers as Ruby fell down on the floor. Kathryn walked towards Ruby as she picked her up and shoved her towards the wall. Even though she doesn't play sports, she's a very good combat fighter. Even though Ruby was good in martial arts, Kathryn would always catch her off guard.
"Let's see if you can dodge my fist punching your face." Kathryn said as she was about to punch Ruby until someone caught her fist and shoved her away. The person who caught her fist was one of Virgil's friends, Wade.
"Yo, I know you're not sweating my man's cousin Ruby, Kathryn." Wade said.
"Who me? Never! I was just teasing her." Kathryn said in a fake innocent tone.
Allie went up to Ruby to see if she was okay.
"Are you okay, Ruby?" Allie asked as she put her hand on Ruby's shoulder.
"Yeah, I'm fine." Ruby said as she rubbed her head.
"I'll see you later Ruby." Kathryn said as she walked away.
Ruby, Allie, and Wade watched Kathryn walk away as Ruby had a fearful look, knowing that she'll be back for her soon.
After school, Virgil, Richie, Ruby, and Allie were walking down the sidewalk as they were talking about Francis and Kathryn.
"Tangling with F-Stop and KC? Are you both crazy? Those two make Norman Bates look like Mr. Rogers." Richie said.
"Tell us something we don't know!" Ruby said.
"If it wasn't for Wade, I'd be looking for a good plastic surgeon right about now." Virgil said.
"And I would've ended up being turned into a human pretzel." Ruby said.
"Yeah, straight up, V. Hey, if any more static breaks between you and F-Stop, you know I got your back." Richie said as he and Virgil fist-bumped.
"Same with me, Ruby, if you end up attracting KC to you, I'll always have your back." Allie said.
"Thanks, man." Virgil said.
"Thanks, Al." Ruby said.
"Peace!" Richie said as he left.
"And out." Virgil said.
"Bye, Ruby!" Allie said as she left in a different direction.
"Bye!" Ruby said as she waved goodbye.
"If only he knew kung fu." Virgil said with a frown.
"I do." Ruby said.
"Not helping, cous." Virgil said as he and Ruby walked away.
But then, they saw Francis and Kathryn leaning against a light pole and the wall of a coffee shop. They tried to run away but they were surrounded by each of Francis and Kathryn's friends. All of Kathryn's friends were girls, making them an all-girl gang. Virgil was grabbed by two of Francis' boys, while Ruby was grabbed by two of Kathryn's girls.
"Hey!" Virgil yelled as he tried to break free.
"Let me go, you jerks!" Ruby yelled as she struggled as well.
"I'm picking up where I left off, chump." Francis said.
"Me too." Kathryn said.
"Come on, guys!" Virgil yelled.
"Leave him alone, F-Stop!" Ruby yelled.
"Sorry babe, but your cousin needs to learn a lesson about what happens to kids who try to stand up to me." Francis said in a flirty tone.
Francis would usually flirt with Ruby and would try to ask her out.
"Oh, gee, c-can't we do this later, fellas? A beatdown just doesn't feel right without lockers and dim school lighting." Virgil said as he tried to make up an excuse.
"Virgil, the jokester. Laugh your way out of this, funny man." Francis said as he and Kathryn started beating up Virgil and Ruby.
One of Francis and Kathryn's members was on the lookout as they saw Wade with his three partners. When they saw Wade and his partners, they ran up to Francis and Kathryn.
"F-Stop! Wade and his homies are heading our way!" One of Francis's members yelled.
"We better get out of here KC!" One of Kathryn's members yelled.
Francis punched Virgil one more time before his gang ran away along with Kathryn's as she told her friends to let go of Ruby.
"You'll be seeing more of me, Virg. Believe that." Francis said as he ran off.
"Same with me, Ruby. You have not seen the last of me." Kathryn said as she ran off.
Virgil was laying on the ground with a black eye. While Ruby was on her knees. Unlike Virgil, she didn't have any noticeable injuries.
Wade and his partners walked up to them as Virgil and Ruby looked up.
"Ah, Wade. I had them just where I wanted them, man! Right, Ruby?" Virgil said as he and Ruby got up.
"Yeah, right." Ruby said sarcastically as she dusted off her skirt.
Wade knew that Virgil and Ruby lost from Francis and Kathryn as he looked at them with a stern look.
"Meet me under the stone bridge in a half." Wade said as he and his partners left.
"A half-hour? But, we gotta meet my pops in a half-hour! We..." Virgil said.
"In a half." Wade said.
Virgil gave Wade a thumbs-up, while Ruby gave Wade a fake smile as she waved at him.
A half later, Virgil and Ruby walked to the stone bridge as it was getting dark.
"Say, son, where were you this afternoon?" Virgil said imitating Robert's voice.
"Well, dad, the nice gangbangers invited me for tea and cookies." Virgil said.
"Son, don't you know that bangers are dangerous?" Virgil said imitating Robert's voice.
"With all due respect, dad, well, duh!" Virgil said.
"Really, Virgil? Tea and cookies? Bangers aren't very nice and don't invite new members for a tea party." Ruby said with an annoyed look.
Ruby was told about bangers and gangs when she was young. Her parents told her who they are, and what they do, and she doesn't want to end up being a banger.
"Well, how else am I gonna explain pops, why we came home late?" Virgil asked.
"I don't know, something that's not stupid." Ruby said with an angry look.
When they got to the stone bridge, they saw one of Wade's men guarding the door. When he saw them, they smiled nervously at him before he grabbed them and shoved them through the door.
"Gee, it's so nice out. It's a shame to be indoors." Virgil said.
Wade and his gang looked at them as Wade got up from his seat.
"Welcome to our crib, Virgil and Ruby." Wade said as his three partners walked by him.
"Cozy." Virgil said.
"Who are those three?" Ruby asked as she pointed at the three boys that were with Wade when they told her and Virgil to meet them here.
"These are my loyal partners. This is Brian, Pablo, and Chris." Wade said as he introduced his three partners.
Brian was a boy with fair skin, red hair, and brown eyes. He was wearing a black leather jacket over a red short-sleeved shirt, blue pants, and red converse shoes. Pablo was a boy with tan skin, blue hair, and black eyes. He was wearing a purple jacket over a blue short-sleeved shirt, grey pants, and blue converse shoes. And Chris was a boy with white skin, black hair, and green eyes. He was wearing a green short-sleeved shirt, black pants, and green converse shoes.
"Hi." Ruby said with a nervous smile as she waved at them nervously.
Brian, Pablo, and Chris just looked at her with stern looks.
"You know, this place should be on that show, 'This Old Warehouse.'" Virgil said as Wade, Brian, Pablo, and Chris walked towards him and Ruby.
"I like you, Virgil, and Ruby. You're both funny, and you're both smart. But keeping Francis and Kathryn off your butt takes too much of my time." Wade said.
Ruby narrowed her eyes after what he said as she got in front of her cousin.
"We never asked you to do that, Wade!" Ruby yelled in an angry tone.
Virgil quickly grabbed Ruby's arm and pulled her beside him. Virgil didn't want anything to happen to her cousin. He cared about Ruby like she was his sister.
"Hear that?" One of Wade's men asked.
"Dissing Wade?" A girl member asked.
"Girl must be crazy!" Another one of Wade's men said.
"Word!" Another girl member said.
"Listen you two, those punks Francis and Kathryn are looking for street-cred. One day, they're gonna catch you out there, and Wade won't be around." Brian explained.
"Sick guy and girl like them, who knows what they'll do then." Pablo said.
"Gee, I was kinda hoping Francis would get bored of me and go terrorize a tank." Virgil said.
"This is no joke, Virgil. There's only one way you're gonna save both your skins. Roll with my crew." Wade said.
"Us? You don't want me! I'm only 14, and I'm too stringy to be a banger!" Virgil said.
"Me too! I'm very busy with school and..." Ruby said.
"Don't front you two, Wade is offering you both life insurance!" Chris said as he got close to their faces.
"Chris is right. You join up, and F-Stop and KC will back off quick. They ain't looking to tangle with this posse." Wade said as his gang cheered.
"We feel what you're saying, but it's my pops! He's got a teeny little problem with gangs, and I'm too young to be homeless." Virgil explained.
"Yeah, he's the only family I got, and I don't wanna be homeless too." Ruby said.
"Your pops gonna watch your back all day? He gonna beat on F-Stop and KC for you two. Always said you were smart Virgil and Ruby. Don't prove me wrong now." Wade said.
Ruby had a bad feeling about this. But she knew that she had no choice.
That night, Virgil and Ruby came home. Virgil made an excuse that he got his black eye from a football injury. Ruby thought it was a good excuse since she's seen kids accidentally get a black eye by a football when playing. Virgil and Ruby walked into the kitchen as they started eating with Robert and Sharon looking at them suspiciously.
"Football injury, huh?" Robert asked.
"Yes, sir." Virgil said.
"Three things. First of all, playing sports is Ruby's thing, second of all, since when do you play football without a helmet, and third, since when does your narrow behind play football at all?" Sharon asked.
"Who asked you, Miss Nosy?" Virgil asked.
"Pops, can I be excused? I'm really sore." Virgil said as he just wanted to go to his room.
"Can I be excused too, Uncle Robert? I'm really tired." Ruby said.
"Sure, kids." Robert said.
Virgil and Ruby got up as they head to their rooms with Robert and Sharon watching them leave.
"Come on, dad? Football?" Sharon asked as she thought that something suspicious happened with Virgil.
"He'll talk about it when he's ready." Robert said.
Ruby entered her room as she closed the door behind her and walked over to her bed falling on her back onto her bed.
"(Sigh) What am I gonna do?" Ruby asked as she thought about what Wade said to her.
Suddenly, the phone by her bed rang as she picked it up.
"Hello?" Ruby asked.
"Please tell me you and Virgil didn't just join Wade's crew!" Allie said on the phone.
"What?! How did you know?!" Ruby asked surprised as she sat up on her bed.
"The news has spread like wildfire Ruby! It's like the whole school wants to know." Allie said.
"Are you serious?!" Ruby yelled in an angry tone as she got up.
"Of course I'm serious! You should've just told Wade no." Allie said.
"Even if I did, Wade and his crew would have just either put me and Virgil on his backlist or would never let us go until we agreed." Ruby explained.
"Are you kidding me? Ruby, both of your parents died from a car accident caused by gangs." Allie said.
"You think I don't know that?!" Ruby yelled.
Ruby's parents died in a car accident when she was just 5 years old. It broke her heart when she heard the news. She thought that she was going to be homeless, but her Uncle Robert and Aunt Jean were happy to adopt her. She loved her parents so much. They've done everything together and have given her a lot of love. It still hurt her knowing that they were no longer with her. Allie tried to help her feel better along with Robert, Sharon, Virgil, and Jean (Before she passed away).
"Besides, what else am I gonna do? I got the Kathryn problem big time." Ruby said.
"Well, now you and Virgil got the Wade problem, too. He's gonna expect more from you and your cousin." Allie said.
"I know Allie. Look, I'll think of something. Maybe I can try to convince him as reasonably as I can." Ruby explained until she got an incoming call.
"Hold on, I've got incoming. Hello?" Ruby said.
"Meet us at the docks. Now. Gate 10. We're taking care of your problems tonight." Wade said as he hung up.
"Wade, wait!" Ruby yelled as she tried to explain.
"Great." Ruby moaned.
Virgil and Ruby headed towards the docks as they saw an unchained gate with a sign that says: Gate 10. Virgil opened the gate as they walked in.
"Hello?" Virgil said.
"Aah!" Virgil yelled as he and Ruby were grabbed by the same gang member that guarded the door at the Stone Bridge.
"Keep your mouth shut." The gang member said as he tossed Virgil and Ruby aside.
As they kept walking, Virgil and Ruby saw a bunch of stacked canisters that said: DANGER.
'I don't like the looks of those cans.' Ruby thought as she looked at the canisters.
They stopped as they saw Wade and his gang.
"What's going on?" Virgil asked.
"There's gonna be a major throw-down tonight with all the crews in the city." Wade said.
"What?!" Ruby asked surprised.
Ruby didn't want to end up being part of a gang throw-down.
"Wade, we gotta talk!" Virgil said.
"Shh. Look." Wade said as he gave Wade his binoculars, while Ruby took out her own portable binoculars.
Virgil grabbed the binoculars and looked where Wade was looking. While Ruby looked in a different direction. Virgil's eyes widen when he saw Francis and his gang making their way to the docks as they climbed over the fence. So did Ruby's eyes when she saw Kathryn and her gang running towards the docks as they went through Gate 10.
"Time to go the permanent route, little bro and sis." Wade said as he gave Virgil and Ruby a blue cloth.
"This way." Wade said as he and his gang left.
When Virgil and Ruby unwrapped the cloth, they saw that it was a gun. Ruby's eyes widened in horror. Her parents warned her about guns and saw many people get killed by them. She always feared touching or having to use a gun.
"Oh, man! We stepped into it big this time!" Virgil said.
Ruby freaked out as she grabbed Virgil's gun, ran towards the water, and threw the guns away. However, they were unaware they were being watched by Brian, Pablo, and Chris as they hid over some crates.
"I knew they wouldn't do it." Brian said.
"They are both traitors!" Chris yelled.
"What do we do with them?" Pablo asked.
"Let's let Wade know and we'll see what he'll do to them." Brian said as he, Pablo, and Chris left.
"I'm so sorry to bring you into this, cous! I didn't know this was gonna happen!" Virgil said as he tried to calm her down.
"It's okay Virgil, none of us knew this would happen. But we need to get out of here!" Ruby said as she was starting to get scared.
"My thoughts exactly." Virgil said.
Until they heard some shouts as they saw Francis, Wade, and Kathryn's gang fight on each side. Virgil and Ruby tried to run away but were stopped by one of the members slamming into a crate. They tried to run away again but stopped when they saw Francis and Kathryn.
"Virgil? Ruby?" Francis asked as Virgil and Ruby backed away with scared expressions.
"Now, this is gonna be fun." Kathryn said with a smirk.
Francis and Kathryn were about to punch Virgil and Ruby until a bright light shined on them.
"Freeze!" A cop yelled through a megaphone as the gang members saw some helicopters flying over them.
"You are in a restricted area. Drop all weapons and step into the open." The cop said.
However, all the gang members ran away as Brian took out his blaster and shot a red laser beam at the spotlight.
Virgil and Ruby ran towards a dumpster to hide as they watched the cops chasing after the gang members. An officer accidentally shot a can of tear gas at of the canisters. Which caused a huge explosion of purple gas that spread all over the docks. Francis, Wade, Kathryn, Brian, Pablo, and Chris started coughing as one gang member's face started melting, another gang member's eyes started glowing purple, and a girl gang member's body began glowing in a purple aura. Virgil and Ruby tried to get away but they barely made it over the fence until they started coughing as they fell unconscious.
The next morning, Ruby was in her room as she was sleeping on her bed. All of a sudden, she jolted straight up as she sat on her bed.
"Phew, thank goodness I'm alive." Ruby said with a sigh of relief as she felt her body.
But, after she got up, she felt something hit her on her back. When she looked behind her, she saw that it was a book sticking to her back. When she tried to get it off, it just kept sticking. After a few tugs, she got it off.
"Now that was weird." Ruby said as she was about to walk out of her room. Until the same book came back and hit her in the head.
She struggled to get the book off her face as it kept sticking.
"Get off of me!" Ruby yelled as she threw it out of her face.
Until a magnetic field appeared around her as the book came back to her, hitting her face again, causing her to fall down. When she got the book off her face she saw that more of her books and magnets were coming toward her.
"Aah!" Ruby yelled as she ran out of her room. She slammed the door behind her as she leaned against the door.
"Phew!" Ruby said as she wiped her forehead.
"Don't slam the doors." Robert said as he walked past her.
"Yes, Uncle Robert." Ruby said.
'Okay, what's happening to me? It's like I've become a giant magnet when that book stuck on me and was moving toward me.' Ruby thought in worry as she started walking.
"Hey Ruby, why are you on the ceiling?" Virgil said as Ruby's face got close to his.
"Huh?" Ruby said as she saw that she was on the ceiling.
"What the?" Ruby said as she tried to get her feet off the ceiling, but they kept on sticking.
"Here, let me help you." Virgil said as he grabbed Ruby's hands pulling her down. After a few pulls, Virgil was able to get Ruby unstuck as they fell onto each other.
"What happened cous?" Virgil asked as he and Ruby got off the floor.
"I don't know, it's like I've become a human magnet." Ruby said.
"Well, you're not the only one. I was getting attacked by my own blanket! Dang, static electricity." Virgil groaned.
"I'm pretty sure static electricity isn't that strong." Ruby said.
"Whatever, let's go." Virgil said as he and Ruby headed to the bathroom.
When they got to the bathroom, something happened. When Virgil touched the wall, the lights came on.
"Huh?" Virgil said as he looked at the lights.
"I wonder how that happened." Ruby said.
When Ruby got to the sink and was about to grab her toothbrush. It started to float toward her.
"Okay, now this is starting to scare me." Ruby said as she saw her toothbrush float away.
Until Virgil saw that the shampoo bottles were floating out of the bathtub.
"Uh, cous." Virgil said as he pointed to the bathtub.
Ruby looked where Virgil was pointing and freaked out.
"Aah! How are those bottles floating?" Ruby asked.
"I don't know." Virgil said as he was about to grab Robert's razor until it turned on.
They freaked out when they saw that the razor was turned on, but wasn't plugged in.
"Whoa!" Virgil said as he dropped the razor.
"Dad's razor! It's possessed!" Virgil yelled as purple lightning bolts surrounded Virgil.
"Virgil, look!" Ruby said as she pointed at the mirror as her body was surrounded by a magnetic field.
They gasped as they saw their reflection.
"I'm a human fuse box!" Virgil yelled as he looked at himself.
"And I'm a human magnet and gravity projector!" Ruby yelled as she looked at the magnetic field around her body.
In Allie's room, Allie was putting on her shoes until she heard her phone ring as she picked it up.
"Hello? What happened Ruby?" Allie asked concerned for her best friend.
"Allie, you're not gonna believe what just happened to me today!" Ruby said in excitement as she had her finger through the current in her magnet generator as it lit up.
"Meet me and Virgil at the auto junkyard ASAP. Bye." Ruby said as she hung up.
"Huh?" Allie asked with a raised eyebrow.
Allie headed toward the junkyard as she met up with Richie. They were both wandering around the junkyard, trying to find their best friends.
"Virgil? Yo, Virgil!" Richie yelled.
"Ruby? Ruby, are you here?!" Allie yelled.
"(Sigh) I'm worrying about his butt and he's rushing me off the phone and..." Richie was interrupted as they heard a racket.
When they turned around, they saw a stack of cars floating off the ground.
"Whoa!" Richie and Allie yelled in surprise as they saw Ruby using her gravity powers with Virgil standing next to her.
"Tell me that was not cool!" Ruby yelled with her hands on her hips.
"How the heck did you do that Ruby?!" Allie yelled.
"There was an explosion last night. There was this gas. It changed us, Allie." Virgil explained as his hands glowed in purple electricity.
"Check this out!" Ruby said as her body glowed white and started to fly around the junkyard. While Virgil shot a purple electric bolt at the car as it started to float.
"Double whoa." Richie said.
"Yeah, no more having to walk around Dakota without getting sore feet!" Ruby said as she kept flying.
"And, no more asking my pops to borrow his car, dude!" Virgil said.
"Uh, you don't even drive yet, V." Richie said.
"Whatever! Oh, and I rather like this." Virgil said as he shot at a metal pole and magnetized it at the fence.
"Talk about your static cling!" Virgil said.
"What about you Ruby?" Allie asked.
"Same thing, but different. Watch." Ruby said as she held out her hand as it glowed white with a trashcan lid glowing white as she magnetized it to a car.
"Now that's what I call magnetic stick!" Ruby said.
"V-man and R-girl, you two could so be superheroes!" Richie said.
"I could, couldn't I?" Virgil said as he wasn't paying attention to where he was going.
"Uh, Virgil, you're heading right for the..." Ruby said as she pointed at the stack of cars.
"Whoa!" Virgil yelled as he crashed through the stack of cars.
Ruby flew back down as her body stopped glowing white.
"Are you okay?" Ruby asked as she held out her hand.
"I'm fine." Virgil said as Ruby helped him back up.
"Come on V and R. We gotta get you two some gear." Richie said.
At Virgil's house, Richie, Ruby, and Allie were in his room, looking for the right outfit for him and Ruby. Virgil came out wearing a purple short-sleeved shirt that barely covered his stomach, black shorts, and socks.
"Not your best look, chicken legs." Richie frowned.
"Yeah, I can't bear to see you wear that." Ruby said as she looked away with her hand covering her face in embarrassment.
"I agree. And that's coming from a girl who's wearing a shirt that doesn't cover her stomach." Allie said as she showed Virgil her yellow shirt that exposes her midriff.
Virgil changed into another outfit with a green short-sleeved shirt with a cape, green leggings, and black boots.
"Alright, now this is just embarrassing." Richie said as he covered his face with his hands.
"Sorry cousin, but green's just not your color." Ruby frowned.
Virgil changed into another outfit, a long-sleeved one-piece jumpsuit with a yellow lightning design on it and a blue and yellow mask.
"Nah, you look like a battery commercial." Richie said.
"And that you could be a part of Doom Patrol." Ruby said.
"Next!" Allie said as she waved her hand.
When Virgil came back with another outfit, Richie, Ruby, and Allie liked it.
"We've got ourselves a winner!" Richie said.
"That outfit really suits you." Ruby said.
"Thanks, cous!" Virgil said.
"What about you Ruby? Do you have an outfit picked out?" Allie asked as she looked at Ruby.
"As a matter of fact, I do. I'll be right back." Ruby said as she ran out of Virgil's room.
She came back with her backpack as she went into Virgil's closet to change. Once she was done, Virgil and Richie's jaws dropped.
Ruby was wearing a white long-sleeved legless jumpsuit that complements her figure, a red u-shaped magnet symbol on her chest, a white superhero face eye mask, and red high-heeled boots that go up to her mid-thighs.
"Wow, cous. That's amazing!" Virgil said as he liked Ruby's outfit.
"Yeah, it certainly suits you." Allie said as she liked it too.
"I knew you'd like it." Ruby said as she giggled.
Present
'And that's pretty much how it all began.' Virgil thought.
'And now, here we are. Fighting bad guys and keeping Dakota safe.' Ruby thought.
Back at the warehouse, the police arrived as they looked at the three thieves that were magnetized by Static and Magnetta.
"We need a ladder." A police officer said.
"We should bring them back down Static. So we can make it easier for the cops." Magnetta said to Static.
"Yeah, you're right." Static said as he pointed his finger at the first thief, causing him to fall off the ceiling.
Magnetta held out her hand as it stopped glowing white with the other two thieves stopped glowing white, which caused them to fall off the ceiling too.
Static and Ruby chuckled until they saw something on the box.
"The new lab computers!" Static and Ruby said together.
Back at Dakota Union High, some kids were helping Frieda decorate the gym for the Homecoming Dance. However, they've barely got any decorations up, including the disco ball.
"Those lights go over there. Hey, I thought Virgil and Ruby were coming." Frieda said to Richie and Allie.
"Oh, w-w-well, they had to, uh, get Virgil's VCR fixed. Yeah, you know, how it flashes 12 o'clock, 12 o'clock?" Richie said nervously as he tried to make an excuse.
"And you know how Ruby is, always helping people in need, including her cousin." Allie said with a calm expression.
"Check it out!" One student said.
"What is it?" Another student said.
Frieda, Richie, and Allie went outside to see what it was. Along with the other students. They saw Static and Magnetta flying with a few boxes each. Static's boxes were surrounded by purple electricity, while Magnetta's boxes were glowing white along with her hand.
"Special delivery." Static said as he and Magnetta flew down with Richie and Allie smiling at them.
"We had some business at the warehouse, and look what we found!" Magnetta said.
"Who are you two?" Frieda asked as Static and Magnetta put the boxes down.
"The name's Static. I put a shock to your system." Static said as he levitated towards the gym.
"Good line!" Richie said to Static.
"The name's Magnetta. I'm the main attraction." Magnetta said as she levitated towards the gym with her hands on her hips. While Allie gave her a thumbs up.
Unaware that most of the boys were blushing from seeing her.
"I see you still got some work to do." Static said as he and Magnetta entered the gym.
"Lucky for you guys, we're what you call one of your all-purpose superheroes." Magnetta said as Static grabbed the disco ball with purple electricity and placed it in the center of the ceiling.
While Magnetta grabbed the rest of the light as her hands glowed white, along with the lights, and placed them on top of the gym. Static turned the lights on as he flew by them and shot a purple electric bolt at the disco ball as it turned on and started spinning.
"It's beautiful!" Frieda said as she admired the work from Static and Magnetta.
"Not as beautiful as the sight I see, Ma Cherie." Static said as he made a purple heart and blew toward Frieda.
The heart got bigger and disappeared as it caused static that messed up Frieda's hair.
'Why isn't it this easy for Virgil?' Static thought sadly.
"See ya!" Static said as he left, while Magnetta stayed behind.
"He's a natural!" Richie said as Magnetta flew down next to Allie.
"Ok, Allie. I'm gonna show Frieda who I really am, but in private." Magnetta whispered to Allie.
"You sure about this?" Allie asked.
"Yes. If I had my best friend know about my secret identity, so should my other friend. Besides, she can help make things easier for me when I go out as Magnetta." Magnetta explained.
"Okay. Good luck." Allie said as she walked away.
Magnetta walked towards Frieda as she was admiring Static and Magnetta's work.
"Hey, can I talk to you, in private?" Magnetta asked.
"Of course." Frieda said as she started glowing white with Magnetta's hand and body glowing white as she and Frieda flew up to the roof.
"So, what is it that you want to talk to me about?" Frieda asked.
"Well, first off, did you like what we did to the gym Frieda?" Magnetta asked.
"Yeah, it looked great and...wait, how do you know my name?" Frieda asked as she point her finger at Magnetta.
"It's me, Ruby." Magnetta said as she took off her mask, revealing herself to be Ruby.
"(Gasp) Ruby? You're Magnetta?" Frieda asked in surprise.
"Yep, that's me." Ruby said.
"How did you do all of that stuff?" Frieda asked.
"You see, last night, there was an explosion of some purple gas at the docks. I was there when it happened, and it gave me Magnetic-Gravitational powers." Ruby explained.
"Magnetic-Gravitational powers?" Frieda asked.
"It's the ability to control both Magnetism and Gravity." Ruby said.
"Wow, that's impressive!" Frieda said.
"It sure is, but promise me to keep this a secret. Only Virgil, Richie, and Allie know that I'm Magnetta. But, I don't want anyone to know, especially my Uncle Robert." Ruby said.
"I promise." Frieda said.
"Thanks, Frieda. I knew I could trust you." Ruby said.
"Hey, you've been my friend for a long time. So, I'm willing to help you after all the help you gave me." Frieda said.
"You're welcome. I'll see you tomorrow." Ruby said as she put her mask back on and put Frieda back down as she flew away with Frieda watching her leave.
'Don't worry Ruby, I'll make sure no one knows you're Magnetta.' Frieda thought.
"So, did Ruby tell you her secret?" Allie asked as she walked toward Frieda.
"She sure did, and I'll help you make sure nobody knows her secret identity." Frieda said to Allie.
"Good, because I could use some help. Until then, we make sure nobody finds out about her powers, especially her uncle." Allie said as she and Frieda looked at the night sky.
Meanwhile, in the hospital, there were a lot of gang members groaning in pain from inhaling the gas at the docks.
"Oh! It's getting worse. They keep mutating." A female nurse said as they saw a gang member melting in purple goop.
"Is the hazmat team here yet?" A male nurse said as he saw another gang member strapped to a chair with purple skin with purple bubble-like blisters.
They heard another female nurse screaming as they went to see what it is.
"They're vibrating faster!" The female nurse said as the other two nurses saw Brian, Pablo, and Chris vibrating faster as they groaned in pain.
All of a sudden, Brian started glowing red as a red beam was fired at his blaster as it was pulled towards him and bonded with his body. Pablo's body started glowing purple, while Chris' body started glowing pink. Pablo's body fired a purple beam at his stone of crystals as it bonded with his body. Chris' body fired a pink beam at his venus flytrap as it bonded with his body. Brian, Pablo, and Chris started to transform in red, purple, and pink light as the nurses looked at them in fear. After they stopped glowing, a giant foot stomped on the floor that belonged to Brian as he marched three steps forward. His body now had triangular and polygonal structures and plates covering his whole body and red shining accents. He has two blasters for arms, a cannon on his left shoulder, and an energy core with a red eye that's covered by black plates with the shape of a round head. Pablo burst out of the floor with his entire body made out of a bluish transparent diamond and his arms and legs ends had sharp edges. His right arm was a crystal shard while his left arm looks like a three-spiked spear. An energy core with an orange eye that's located on his head, protected by armor made out of diamonds. And Chris let out a loud roar with a large body made out of plants. He had a large mouth and an energy core located on the center of his forehead, where he has a pink eye. His body is green with pointy leaves and brown vines from the chest to his thighs. He has large hands made out of brown vines with four fingers each and brown feet made out of the same vine, having three toes.
The nurses gasped as they couldn't believe what they saw. Pablo raised his crystal shard hand as he stuck it onto the floor, Chris let out another loud roar, and Brian aimed his blaster-like hands and cannon on his shoulder at the wall as he fired his blaster, making a giant hole in the wall. They jumped out as they landed on the streets with people running away in fear.
"Now, this is more like it!" Brian said as he looked at his right hand blaster.
"Let's go find the traitors!" Chris yelled as he formed an elastic whip through his hand, grabbed a garbage can, and chomped it into pieces.
"Yes, and we shall destroy them and rule the world!" Pablo yelled as he fired some crystals from his crystal-shard hands at a car.
"Let's go!" Brian said as he, Pablo, and Chris ran off, looking for Virgil and Ruby.
So, what do you think? Not bad for my first TV show fanfic story. Brian, Pablo, and Chris' transformations are the same as Max Steel (2013) Season 2, Episode 1, Rise of the Ultralinks. Frieda now knows Ruby's identity and will help Allie keep her identity a secret. If you're wondering about Kathryn, don't worry, I've got big plans for her. In this version of Static Shock, I'll be making my own episodes for my Bang Baby OCs and for some Bang Baby's who I think deserve to have more than one appearance. Also, today's the 23rd anniversary of my number 1 favorite show, SpongeBob SquarePants. Anyway, I'll be mentioning pupilless eyes for my Bang Baby OCs, since there are some Static Shock characters with eyes that have pupils, while there are some with pupilless eyes. Please Review.
