It was another lovely day in Fair city as a late summer breeze blew through the air with only a few little white clouds in the clear blue sky.
But the clouds quickly dissipated as a flash of bright golden yellow zoomed passed them; leaving what was left them cut in half with a fresh vapour trail. The bolt of golden yellow quickly slowed down; revealing itself to be the one and only Wordgirl and her trusted sidekick, captain Huggyface...
Also known to some as Becky Botsford and her pet monkey, Bob.
Wordgirl and Captain Huggyface looked down upon the city; being on look out for any forms of crime to prevent or stop in progress.
"Been a pretty slow day today, huh Huggy?" Wordgirl tried to bring up some light conversion with her primate partner.
Captain Huggyface let out a squeaky chatter as he hung onto Wordgirl shoulders; shaking his head as he spotted nothing. Wordgirl let out a short sigh as she looked up towards the sky; knowing the weather called for clear skies until tomorrow. And much like the weather, crime was on the calm side for the last few days.
"I know it's good when crime doesn't happen for a while. But I honestly wish something would happen. I've pretty much done all my chores; my homework and I've organised my Pretty Princess Pony collection three times over. I'm starting to feel a little restless." Wordgirl said as she played with a small cloud in her hands.
Huggy let out a curious squeak; wondering what she meant by restless.
"You know; Restless. I'm unable to rest or relax as a result of anxiety or boredom." She defined the word before explaining further. "I mean, I'm not entirely anxious, I'm mostly just bored and-"
Before Wordgirl could finish her sentence, her super hearing perked up; making her stop and listen as she heard a very familiar voice.
"Alright, you know the drill! Hand over all your cheese, asap!"
Wordgirl knew that raspy cheese stealing voice anywhere.
Dr two brains
With a nod and a determined smile, Wordgirl turned to Huggy and told him to hang on.
"Looks like I spoke too soon. Let's go, Huggy!" The superhero said before flying off to the grocery store to stop Two Brains and his henchmen from completing their cheesy crime.
Meanwhile at the grocery store, Dr Two brains had a store employee at ray gun point as they filled up a tote bag with as much cheese as it could possibly fit while the henchman loaded up a shopping cart with as much cheese as possible.
"That's right; put all the cheese in there and nobody gets hurt." The mouse brained scientist instructed with a rather mischievous grin.
"Even the goat cheese, Boss?" The red beanie henchman asked; thinking he remembered Two brains saying he hated goat cheese.
The grin on Dr Two brains quickly disappeared as he turned towards the red beanie henchman.
"What? Ew, no!" Two brain almost poked his tongue out at the mere mention of goat cheese. "Leave the goat cheese; that stuff is gross."
The employee filling the bag with cheese made a rather nervous sound as they spoke up.
"I think I might have put some goat cheese in this bag. Do you want me to empty it and fill it up again?" The nervous employee asked; hoping they were not going to get turned into goop or cheese for being stupid.
Two brains let out a frustrated sigh as he rolled his red eyes the other way.
"Alright, fine; do that." The doctor ordered as he scratched an itchy spot on his neck. "I probably should have specified before you started packing the bag, it's not really your fault."
The employee just shrugged with a nervous laugh.
"Yeah, it's my first day working here." The employee nervously blurted out.
"Well don't worry about it, it happens to everybody. You're doing a pretty good job right now." Dr Two brains commented, knowing even super villains have to be nice to retail workers.
Just as the nervous employee reorganized the bag of cheese, a blot of golden yellow zoomed right into the store; causing a momentary gust of wind and blowing loose papers and wrappers in all directions in the store.
"Doing some afternoon shoplifting, Dr Two Brains?"
Everyone in the store looked up to see Wordgirl hovering above; her and Captain Huggyface both had their arms crossed to look intimidating yet heroic. Two brains quietly growled as some employees cheered upon the arrival of their local hero; some citizens coming out of hiding in other parts of the store. The henchmen quickly backed away as Two brains pointed his ray towards the ceiling; firing twice with a loud laser and making everyone quiet again.
"Well, Wordgirl; you showed up here quicker than usual. Trying to beat your record for fastest arrival to a robbery, are you?" Dr Two Brains asked with a teasing tone in his voice.
"Not really. But maybe I can beat my record for how long I take to send you and your henchman to jail." Wordgirl replied with a comeback of her own.
Two Brains quickly turned his head and looked at his henchmen before nodding; like he was giving them some sort of signal. The henchmen quickly nodded back simultaneously before Two brains turned back to face his super powered arch enemy.
"Oh, dear poor old me!" Dr Two brains suddenly spoke in a rather melodramatic tone as he put his hands behind his back. "It seems you've once again foiled my plans, Wordgirl and Admiral monkey face."
Wordgirl and Huggy both raised one eyebrow each as the doctor kicked the floor with a sad look on his face; both thinking he was giving rather easily.
"Well I guess I'll just quit right now so you can take me and my henchmen straight to jail and PSYCH!"
Wordgirl and Huggy hardly had any time to re each as Two Brains took his hands away from his back and fired his ray at the young superhero. But instead of firing a cheese transforming laser, it fired a heavy net made out of metal; making the super powered preteen and her monkey sidekick fall to the floor with a loud thud.
"SCATTER, BOYS." Two Brains called to his henchmen; ordered them to split up and run into different parts of the store.
The henchmen managed to scatter into different Isles as Wordgirl and Huggy struggled to get the heavy net off; barely managing to push and lift it so they could crawl out.
"Titanium net! Two Brains must have added a new setting to his ray!" Wordgirl commented as she threw the net onto the floor.
Captain Huggyface let out an alarmed squeak as he pointed towards the store aisles; probably trying to say that the bad guys were trying to get away.
"Right! You go after the henchmen while I go after Two Brains!" Wordgirl quickly set out a plan before flying off into the back of the store.
Huggy quickly followed suite and ran after the henchmen; climbing onto a shelf to get a better vantage point.
Wordgirl reached the back of the grocery store; keeping her eyes peeled and ears perked for Two Brains. The superhero looked for any sign of the cheese obsessed doctor; carefully setting herself down on the tile flooring and walking past a neatly stacked pyramid of paper towels. But she was unaware of the red eyes peering through a gap in the display.
On the opposite side of the store, captain Huggyface was in pursuit of the two henchmen; jumping from shelf top to shelf top in an attempt to catch up with the two men. Beanie and Charlie found themselves in between the frozen dessert section and the cleaning products; both trying find a way to avoid the monkey on their trail. The pair both look at the isles as they both figured that splitting up might be a good idea. Maybe they could find different things to defend themselves with; like using mops to fight back or throwing egg custards buns at Captain Huggyface to slow him down.
"You take the cleaning stuff, Charlie; I'll take the desserts." Red beanie henchman said before the two split.
Before Charlie even got to the middle of the cleaning section, Captain Huggyface dropped down from the top of the shelf; landing right in front of the large man and striking into a kung fu pose. Charlie grabbed a broom sitting on the shelf and readied himself as Captain Huggyface charged and jumped with a flying kick.
At the back the store, Wordgirl was about check the next aisle for any sign of Dr Two brains. Until she felt something soft hit her on the back of her head and heard the familiar sound of deranged laughter. Wordgirl turned around quickly enough to catch the next two paper towel rolls, but the third one managed to bonk her on the forehead. It did not hurt at all, but it was making Wordgirl give the doctor an annoyed glare.
"Ready throw in the towel, Wordgirl?" Dr Two brains said with a grin and a growing chuckle. "Get it? Throw in the towel?"
Dr Two brains continued to laugh until he noticed Wordgirl just raised a confused eyebrow at him instead of laughing; making the white-haired doctor frown with an exasperated sigh.
"Oh, come on; that was a good pun and you know it!" Two Brains said as he kicked the side of paper towel pyramid; sending it tumbling down in Wordgirls' direction.
The superhero quickly jumped out of the way of the falling paper towel rolls as Dr Two Doctor made a B line for the end of aisle. Wordgirl quickly grabbed a roll off the floor, aimed and threw it into Two brains' path. Before the doctor could realise it, he stepped on the roll as he ran; causing him to quickly lose his footing and sending him flying towards the floor. Two brains expected to feel his face slamming against the hard tile floor, but he felt nothing; finding himself floating just an inch from it instead. Wordgirl had managed to grab him by the tail of his lab coat; quickly lifting him back up and holding him under her right arm so he could not get away.
"Well, Two Brains; looks like you're the one who's going to throw in the towel." Wordgirl gave the doctor a triumphant smile as she used his own pun against him.
Two brains rolled his eyes the other way as he let out an irritated growl.
"Please, you can't just use my pun back at me when you didn't get it the first time!" The cheese obsessed villain complained like Wordgirl broke an unspoken rule. "That's just uncreat-"
Dr Two Brains did not get to finish his little vent before his head erupted in a massively explosive headache. Wordgirls' triumphant smile was replaced with a worried and concerned stare as Two Brains let out a painful groan and held his head in his hands; facing down at the floor as the mouse brain glowed green and began to convulse.
"Dr Two Brains? Are you alright?" The superhero asked as she felt the man's body shake under her right arm.
Wordgirl watched worryingly as the shaking stopped. But the worry only went up as Two Brains began to breath rather heavily. Two Brains continued his usually heavy breathing as it got faster by the second. Wordgirl slowly brought her free hand towards the doctor; trying to see what was wrong with him.
"Doc?..."
Wordgirl quickly noticed that the heavy turned into throaty growling as Two Brains took his hands away from his head. She let out a gasp as the doctor turned his head slightly and saw his eyes glowing bright red with an enraged and animalistic glare. But she had no time to react to what happened next; as Two Brains caught her off-guard, grabbed her free arm and bared his suddenly sharp teeth at her before...
*CHOMP*
Captain Huggyface held up his own broomstick as Charlie brought his down on the monkey; pushing the henchmen back before swinging at him in retaliation.
"AHHHHH!"
Captain Huggyface immediately ceased their fighting and covered their ears as a painful scream erupted from the middle of the store; knocking down some stock from the shelves and almost knocking down the shelves themselves. Captain Huggyface quickly took his paws away from his ears as he realised that scream came from Wordgirl; making a B Line for the superheros' position and leaving Charlie standing there with sore ears.
"Hey, Charlie! Did ya hear that loud scream?! I think my ears are ringing!" Red beanie henchman said with his hands over his ears.
Charlie turned to face his friend and only responded by nodding while covering his ears.
"What'd ya say, Charlie?!" Beanie henchman asked; picking his ear in an attempt to improve his hearing.
Huggy ran as fast as his primate legs could carry him; jumping and climbing on top of a store shelf to save time in getting to his partner. When he reached the source of the scream, Captain Huggyface squeaked in shock at the sight.
Wordgirl was sitting on the floor with her back against a shelf; hunched over as she held her right arm in pain, while Two Brains was on his hands and knees shaking. Huggy immediately ran to Wordgirl and kneeled beside her; inspecting what had happened to make her scream in pain like that. Just at that moment, Dr Two Brains stopped shaking and quickly lifted his head up; gasping and breathing quickly like he had his head underwater for longer than he could handle. Two brains looked around in confusion as he sat up properly and held his still mildly aching head; wondering what he was doing so close to the floor. Then he quickly did a double take as he saw Wordgirl and Captain what's-his-face in the corner; noticing the super powered preteen holding her left arm as the monkey worryingly looked it over.
"Wordgirl? What happened?" The doctor asked almost in concern; sounding like he genuinely did not know what just happened.
Huggy turned around and looked at Two Brains with a face of growing disgust while Wordgirl lifted her head up to reveal a small amount of pain induced tears; looking at the doctor with a stare that did not show anger or disgust. But fear and hurt.
"You... You bit me!" She accused the supervillain as her voice became shaky. "You just bit my arm!"
Two Brains was about to say something as he watched the monkey move Wordgirls' sleeve and glove; turning silent with his red eyes widening as he saw the damage he was being accused of causing.
Two Brains could see a massive bite mark on the alien girls forearm; large rodent teeth dents in her skin with a bruise already beginning to form around it. The doctor looked back and forth between the injured superhero and her sidekick giving him a look that could kill. He starting breathing heavy again out of growing panic before backing away.
"I-I didn't... I didn't mean..." The doctor struggled to explain himself before he just gave up. "TIME TO GO!"
Wordgirl and Captain Huggyface watched as Two Brains quickly took off in the other direction towards his henchmen; definitely escaping.
"Get the cheese, Boys! We're leaving!" Two Brains quickly blurted out as he ran past his two confused henchmen; grabbing a bag full of stolen cheese as he ran out the door.
The Henchmen quickly caught on and did as their boss said; quickly grabbing the shopping cart full of cheese and rushing out the door like their boss did. A small number of employees and civilians watched as the criminals quickly packed their van and drove away before the police could arrive.
An employee and a small group of civilians hurried towards where they heard Wordgirls' scream; most of them gasping in concern and worry when they saw the superhero and her fresh injury being looked over by her monkey sidekick.
"Oh gosh; are you okay, Wordgirl?!" A young woman asked as she started going through her purse for band aids.
"Did Two Brains do that to you?" A man asked with an angered tone in his voice.
Captain Huggyface starting making distressed monkey sounds like he was trying tell the group something. But the civilians just gave each other confused looks.
"Ummm... Could one of you get us a first aid kit, please?" Wordgirl asked as she translated what Huggy wanted to stay.
The employee quickly nodded and hurried to get a first aid kit for the superhero. Everyone was either finding a way to help or began talking about what just happened. Wordgirl just sat there as Captain Huggyface started tending to her wound; all noise just falling deaf on her ears as she kept thinking one question.
Why would Two Brains do that?
Meanwhile up the street, Charlie kept his eyes on the road as he drove the van away from grocery store; leaving Beanie to sort out the stolen dairy goods in the back.
"Looks like we cleared them out right before Wordgirl got there." Beanie said with a smile as he counted the cheese in the stolen shopping cart. "Think this will be enough to last you while, Boss?"
Beanie looked towards the front passenger seat as he waited for his boss to reply. But Two Brains said nothing.
"Boss?" The red beanie henchman tried speaking to his and Charlies' boss again.
Two Brains paid no attention to anything around him as he looked down; one hand holding his aching head while the other hand was gripping his chest as he felt his heart beating faster then what was considered normal. The doctor did not know what else to do when Wordgirl looked up at him with all that fear and pain in her youthful eyes. He knew he hurt her; but it was not on purpose. He could not even remember doing it. Those brief seconds were nowhere in his recent memory. He just blacked out. One second, he was being held and defeated by Wordgirl. The next second, she was crying and saying he bit her. Two Brains felt his heart getting faster with anxiety as the thought repeated in his mind.
"Hey, Boss?"
Two Brains snapped out of it with a snap gasp as he heard his henchmen call out to him. The doctor turned his head around to see Beanie looking at him; feeling his heart rate going down as he began to breath slower and more calmly.
"W-what?" Two Brains finally answered back; letting go of his chest as he felt his anxious heart going back to a normal beat.
"Are you feeling okay? You looked really rattled." Beanie voiced his concern for the doctor as Charlie nodded in agreement.
"Rattled?" Dr Two Brains repeated in question.
"Yeah; like something really scared you." Beanie defined the word for his boss. "Did something happen in the store?"
Two brains blinked as he turned away from his henchmen. Did they not see what happened? They probably saw nothing because they were in a different part of the store. The supervillain looked out the window and looked at his reflection; eyeing the exposed mouse brain on the side of his head.
"Nothing happened. Don't worry about it." Two Brains in rather deadpan tone.
AN: So I've got Wordgirl brainrot and this idea has been in my head for the last few weeks. I've always wondered what happen if Dr Two Brains ever got the mouse taken out. So we're gonna find through this fic, starting with why it would happen. Enjoy.
