Emily's Rose

Notes / One shot, but Emily may be used in other fics, depends on what you guys think. It's a twist on PotW, what if the TARDIS had locked Rose out and Rose hadn't put two and two together about Bad Wolf. I didn't want this to be rated to high so there's a detail missed out, but it works anyway.

Spoilers / PotW spoilers… pretty much any episode is fair game.

Disclaimer / Emily is mine, but all things Doctor Who related belong to the BBC (growls)

Dedication / For my doctor (Chris Eccleston) but mainly for Katzie (morph) because she's just so brilliantly wonderful and keeps me sane when I want to rabbit on about FanFiction. She also helped to catch all those plot bunnies when they knocked down the writers block

Emily-Rose sat on the floor, her back leaning on a wall, young face distorted grossly. She was glaring up at her mother.

"Why?" Her mother rolled her eyes.

"You know why. It's not great when I get a phone call from an angry parent who's complaining about their son coming home and telling them how they're going to die." Emily looked at her mother complacidly.

"But it's true! I wouldn't lie." Her voice softened and lost its defiant edge "I can see into the future, touch the stars, see the past." Her mother looked wistful.

"Yes I know, I've felt it too" she held up a hand as Emily went to interject. "Yes, just like that except clearer, more powerful." Emily's blue eyes cast downwards.

"I thought it was just me. Alone in the universe."

Words echoed in Rose Tyler's head as she looked at the blue TARDIS sitting forlornly on the corner. Two years it had been, her belly was swollen to popping and she remembered him, the passion they had felt together, and the full pain she felt now, knowing that he was dead, that Jack was dead. They were all dead, sometime in the future. There was no going back, and yet here she was, about to give birth to the universes only Time Lord or Lady. The hologram had told her what to do and she did it, complying with his will even though she didn't want to. She'd tried so hard to open the TARDIS' door but the key wouldn't work, the old girl wasn't letting her, and his words swirled around her head.

Rose looked at her daughter's soft brown hair as she played in her lap. She picked her up and held her close, feeling the murmuring echo of her two hearts. The four year old squirmed and twisted around to look at her mother, her bright blue eyes spearing into Rose's soft brown ones.

"You're the splitting image of him" She murmered, pushing her daughters face away so she could brush the brown hair.

"Of who?" Her daughter squirmed in her grip. Rose laughed.

'Yep that's the one.' She said to herself. "Stay still. Of your father." She responded aloud. The brunette wiggled out of her mothers arms and looked at her defiantly, her little arms on her hips.

"But you said I didn't have a father." Rose's gaze fell to the floor, but Emily-Rose saw one small teardrop slowly trickle down her mother's nose.

"You don't. Not anymore."
