Despite being a "world-class" ghost hunter, Jack had never actually been in the ghost zone before. As such, he didn't really know what he should expect or what he should do. He had decided it would be best to heed Phantom's advice, despite how much it pained him. He was trying to push the thoughts aside and focus on the present and what he was going to do moving forward, but he really had no idea what to do. Jack figured that since he just found out a few moments ago that he was a ghost, that maybe he should figure out how to do this whole ghost thing. Despite studying and hunting them his whole life, he didn't really know how to be one. (That was a concept he never thought that he would have to contemplate.) Phantom had mentioned a haunt? Was that a place ghosts hung out? How would he even begin to find it?
He spun in a circle. Everything around him looked the same, green atmosphere with a few floating rocks and the occasional purple door. With a shrug of his shoulders, Jack just decided to pick the nearest door and see what happened. He went up to one that looked normal enough, but when he opened the door he found a kid sitting on a rug and staring at a TV.
What's a kid like that doing here?
He was about to voice his thoughts when the kid opened his mouth impossibly wide to display teeth that would look more at home in a shark's maw and let out an ear-splitting screech. Jack slammed the door shut before the devilish creature could have him for dinner. With a startled look on his face, he mused, "Okay, maybe opening random doors is not a good idea."

After wandering around aimlessly for… How long had he been here? An hour? Two? As far as he could tell, the ambient light in the ghost zone never changed, making it really hard to gauge how long he had been travelling for. He was starting to get a bit tired (not physically, floating didn't take much energy) but mentally. He scanned the terrain and picked some innocuous rocks to sit on for a bit while he planned out his next steps—or drooled thinking about fudge, both were valid options.
Sitting on the boulders seemed to prove more fruitful in finding other ghosts than his roaming had. Jack hadn't been sitting there for too long before a freckled, blue ghost in overhauls came by. "Beware! I am the Box Ghost!"
"The Box Ghost?" Jack questioned.
"I have power over all containers cardboard and square!"
That took Jack a moment. He squinted at the ghost and managed to force out, "Uh, terrifying?"
The cerulean ghost's eyes lit up, "Finally! Someone who realizes the true potential of my powers!"
Content with himself and believing Jack to be adequately scared, he flew off to find others to terrorize. Jack muttered to himself, "I really hope I don't end up like that."

More wandering brought him to a place that was fairly frigid. Jack was beginning to wonder if he needed to go in a different direction before another ghost, this one with green skin and appearing to wear pajamas. A loud, high-pitched voice questioned, "Will you be my friend?"
He thought for a moment before replying. He supposed having a friend that was more experienced with ghostly things than him could be beneficial, he had largely been stumbling around blind by himself, and it didn't seem to be working well. However, he had standards. He couldn't just befriend any random ghost that flew up to him. What if this ghost was insane or enjoyed attacking humans? He hadn't seen him around Amity, but that didn't mean he didn't have plans to visit later or had ways to enter other parts of the globe. After considering everything, he decided to respond with, "Depends, do you like fudge?"
I'm not dead! I just felt like I was. Life got crazy and I didn't really have time for much of anything for a while, so even though I had plans for this chapter, I didn't actually type anything up. I decided that I should really write something more light-hearted, and so… Jack wandering through the GZ and meeting some of the recurring ghosts that exist for comic relief. We are heading near finals season and I have to apply to grad schools (kill me now) and jobs that will actually let me afford grad school (turns out making pizzas isn't very profitable unless you're running the business, who knew?). It'll be a few weeks at least before I post another chapter, I also need to do more brainstorming.
