MacMona: Friendly Game

Louise sighed, eyes flickering towards her brother. King Francis of Diamonds was causing trouble for Queen Arthur of Spades, and the Jacks of the two kingdoms were hovering nearby to make sure that it didn't become a physical fight. Honestly, why did her brother even accept the invitation if this was what he was going to do?

Someone chuckled next to her, and her attention whipped towards the person. She hadn't even heard him approach. He wore a smile that immediately infuriated her.

"Pardon me," the man said. "I didn't mean to alarm you, Princess Louise."

Her eyes narrowed as she scrutinised him. Based on his clothes, he was of the Spades Kingdom. So then, how was he so familiar with her?

"You must excuse me," she said, "but I have no idea who you are."

"Ah, pardon me, again," he said. "My name is Chio. My brother is the Jack of Spades."

Her eyes flitted back towards the mounting argument, only to see King Alfred dragging his Queen away, while Vash was taking her brother away. Lili, the young Queen, watched as her brother dragged her husband along.

"I suppose it's true what they say," Chio said. "There's never a dull moment."

"Is there a particular reason why you approached me?" Louise asked.

"I heard something interesting about you." Chio removed a deck of cards from within his sleeve, and Louise's eyes immediately snapped to the cards. "I hear you're a keen player, and you love a good gamble."

Louise watched as he started to shuffle the deck. When she looked up, she saw that he was watching her with an amused look on his face.

"Fancy a game?" he asked.

Louise smirked.

"Just a game, or do you want to make things interesting?" she asked.

"Of course, things must be as interesting as possible," Chio said, before he stopped shuffling the deck. "If I win, you have to join me for dinner without a formal banquet between our two kingdoms."

She frowned.

"And if I win, then you must wear Diamond fashion for an entire week," Louise said. "While in the Spades Kingdom."

His amusement faded a little. Louise tried to hide her own amusement. Eventually, Chio's smile returned and he gestured to the doorway.

"Please, after you," he said.

They found a table outside the main banquet hall. This allowed for some privacy, and made sure that no one would interrupt them. They needed all the concentration they could get.

Chio shuffled the cards again, and gave the cards to Louise to cut them. He then dealt the cards for the both of them.

Louise found that it was hard to read Chio's face. As soon as the game had started, the amusement faded and his face became blank. Louise hoped her face was also blank. Her hand was good, but she didn't want to expose herself too soon.

"Ready?" Chio asked.

Louise nodded, and the two showed their hands. Louise's eyes widened. Her hand was good, but Chio's was better.

"I win," Chio said. "So, about that dinner…"

"Again," Louise said. "I want to play again."

Chio looked unsure, but he nodded. He shuffled the deck again, and they played another round. He won again, and another round ensued, and this time Louise won, then it was best out of five, then best out of nine, then best out of fifteen. A servant came to call them for dinner, but the two didn't move, only sending the servant away. He eventually returned with two plates of food for them, which they idly picked at while playing.

Eventually, someone cleared his throat behind Louise, and she looked up to see her brother standing there.

"I'm sorry to interrupt you and your friend," Francis said, "but it's time for us to return."

Louise pouted, before she turned to Chio.

"What's the score?" she asked.

"You won fourteen times, and I won fifteen times," he said. "Now, about that dinner…"

The prompt is: 'Princess Louise of Diamonds (Monaco) reluctantly attends a banquet in Spades and runs into the Jack of Spades' brother (Macau). All I want is for them to be best friend/rivals-with-a-crush and play cards.'

I usually use the name Camille for Monaco, but I kept it with the request. Also, I do not know a lot about card games, so I didn't go into detail.
