Draco Malfoy yawned and sat up in bed, irritated by the tap, tap, tap! on his window. He rubbed his eyes and saw a bronze owl tapping on his window, a note attached to its leg. Curious as to who was sending him a letter, Draco crawled out of bed and opened the window, letting the owl swoop in and land on top of his own owl, Hibou's, cage.

"Who's sending owl post this bloody early?" Draco muttered to himself, untying the parchment. The owl took off, and Draco examined the parchment. It was sealed with blood-red wax that bore the letters AD.

Wondering what Dumbledore wanted, Draco slit open the letter and began to read the slanted, flourished script.

Dear Mister Malfoy,

How was your Easter? I hope your mother is well? I am writing to you, because I have a job for you and this is more important than eaves-dropping, so it's best that I not tell you in writing; too many people could be reading this letter. I would like to meet you and tell you in person. You know how this works; say the word, and you're there. Please come as quickly as possible. This is very important.

Yours Sincerely,

Albus Dumbledore

Draco Malfoy, in his seventh year when he had come of age, had been called by his father to receive the Dark Lord as his master. However, over his school year, Draco had done a lot of thinking, and come to a lot of conclusions, the most important being that he didn't want to serve evil.

He had refused, and had had to go into hiding for six months until Dumbledore had landed Lucius Malfoy in Azkaban. Of course, Lucius had broken out near Christmas. That was when Draco went to Dumbledore to join the Order. Dumbledore wouldn't accept him until he left school. The instant he graduated, he joined the Order of the Phoenix.

Mostly, he had done some sneaking around, invading his own mansion when no one was looking, spying on the Ministry, and just getting information. Wondering what was so important, Draco plucked the wax seal off of the letter and said "Niente!"
