This chapter contains references to torture and graphic descriptions of blood.
After this chapter, there'll be one last chapter in 23rd Century Earth, followed by a version of 'The God Complex'.
Once the Portal closed, Jenny, Jaime, J.D, Alexia, the Ponds, Susan, Malohah and his small group of security all settled in, hiding behind a Perception Forcefield, and waited for the transport truck to arrive. Meanwhile the group discussed ways of getting into the building without much bloodshed.
"There is so much security!" Rory moaned as he watched a pair of armed guards with dogs walk the perimeter. The dogs were barking and snarling viciously. "How are we meant to get inside?"
Malohah looked over at the human with a grim expression. He was nervous and that was not a good thing. "I imagine there'll be several ways to get inside," he answered Rory's question. "One of them is through the front door as a slave." He said out of annoyance because a nervous team member could put them all in danger. "Calm down before you get us all enslaved."
Amy was incensed by the Silurian's attitude towards her husband. "How dare you!" She hissed angrily. "That's my husband you're talking too!"
Jaime groaned as the argument began. It wasn't needed and if their voices continued to raise, their mission will be over before it's even begun. "Shhh!" She hushed them in order to end the argument, only because the dogs had caught onto their scent. She was going to move them on until her mum got there before her.
"You can't see us, or smell us," Alexia barked at the dogs. "Please help us stay hidden." The dogs immediately stopped struggling on their leashes and ceased their barking. One of the guards shrugged at the dog's odd behaviour, then all four moved on.
"Nice one, Ma'!" Jaime uttered to her mother. Alexia smiled and nodded her head.
"What was that?" Susan questioned Alexia in awed wonder. All she'd seen was the human woman barking like a dog. It had been so unusual.
A grin appeared on Jaime's face. "Me and my ma' are both Zoolinguists," she answered her cousin. "We can talk to animals." She could feel waves and waves of fascination washing off Susan. Apparently she had never come across the ability to talk to animals before. "As for findin' a way into the buildin', there is always in through the roof." She suggested and soon felt confusion washing off everyone.
"How?" A still fascinated Susan wondered. She was imagining shimmying up a drainpipe.
"By flyin' as high as I can and then usin' my super-strength tae smash my way through the roof. Simple!"
Both Susan and Malohah stared at Jaime in amazement. "You can actually fly?" Mal questioned the Scots-girl. Even though he knew about all of their powers he hadn't expected Flight to be one of her abilities.
"Of course," Jaime spoke up. "It's easy once ye know how."
J.D watched the discussion with a grim smile. He felt restless and wasn't used to just waiting for something to happen. Not to mention he was still irritated by the way his brother's family bond was torn away from him by use of a Dampener Collar. It had hurt and no doubt it hurt everyone else too. He hadn't meant to take it out on Jaime either. Reaching out, the Half-Time Lord took a hold of Jaime's hand and lightly squeezed it, gaining a hint of a smile from her. "That sounds like a good idea," J.D spoke up. "This place is too heavily armed with security to get in any other way."
Jaime nodded in agreement as she moved closer to her bond-mate. "Aye! Then Jenny can teleport or Portal the rest of ye in. There'll be chaos once I blast in through the roof." She explained.
"Yeah, I can do that." Jenny said as she stayed on high alert, dark blue eyes looking everywhere.
Everyone else agreed with the plan and for the next hour they waited and watched the various activities going on around the enclosed facility.
At some point a small haulage van with 'Fort Worth' written on the side turned up and opened its back roller door. It was empty inside which confused some of the Time Travellers. Less than a minute later a line of tethered and collared slaves were obediently lead out of the Facility and were herded into the haulage van.
"What's going on there?" Alexia wondered. "What's at Fort Worth?"
Malohah was glaring angrily at the scene, annoyed that he couldn't do a damn thing for them. "Fort Worth is Dallas' main Airport," the Silurian explained. "Those slaves are being transported overseas. They'll likely be going to the farms, to Arabian and Asian countries that have slavery."
None of them said anything as the slaves were loaded onto the haulage van. When they were all in, and tightly packed, the door was closed and locked, then the van was on its way. Disgusted, Alexia scowled. Despite her heart thundering away in her chest she couldn't wait to have this over and done with. Another couple of minutes after the haulage van left, a larger transport truck arrived.
Jaime, who had been leaning against her bond-mate, suddenly sat up straight, her attention on the truck. She could sense Rose and her full Bad Wolf-ness, but she couldn't sense the connection she had with The Doctor, but she knew he was there anyway. "They're here." The Scots-girl spoke up. She stood up along with J.D, Jenny and Alexia.
Amy, Rory, Susan and Mal had remained on their feet, either pacing or giving each other comfort. Mal's security force had been quietly chatting up a plan together. The Time Travellers, Susan and Malohah watched in dismay, disgust and anger as they watched the soon-to-be-trained-and-obedient slaves get tethered to each other and herded off the truck. The youngest looked like he was just a child somewhere in his early to mid teens. But that wasn't what was bothering them.
They knew that Rose and The Doctor would be naked because they had their clothes in the backpack Jenny wore on her back. What they hadn't known was how they'd been bound up and caged, like animals. Floods of anger washed over Jaime and to her surprise she heard a snarl beside her. A snarl that came from J.D in reaction to his brother and Rose being attacked by an electrical stick.
A flash of danger had her grabbing a hold of him in a firm grip even before he could make a move. "Calm down!" She hissed at her bond-mate before looking around at the rest of the group. "And I mean all of ye." Now really wasn't the time to cause absolute mayhem. Start it at the wrong moment and the wrong people might end up getting hurt or dying.
"Sorry!" Jenny spoke up when she sensed her sister's urgency. Her own senses about the current situation was telling her the same thing. The delicate Timeline was pulled taught and if they went early it would snap in half.
"Aren't you angry?" The Half-Time Lord asked, roughly pulling his arm out of her grip with a glare. Because usually he was the one that had to calm an angry Jaime. There was an angry buzzing from their connection, yet she didn't look physically angry.
"Course I'm angry," came Jaime's reply. "I'm more than angry. I'm extremely pissed off." She really was, especially with that guard back at Court who felt the need to abuse her dad. But that was mostly her fault considering she'd possessed the guard in order to talk to The Doctor. 'Cept we need clear heads tae do this. We cannae go stormin' in with revenge in Mind. 'Specially as we're likely tae have allies in there."
The presence of the Canadian Mounted Police had been a surprise and there'd been no mention from the British government that the Canadians were involved, so maybe they didn't know either.
"Can we trust them?" Rory spoke up. "How do we even know if they're on our side?" Amy nodded her head, agreeing with her husband.
"He's got a point." Alexia also agreed with Rory. "They might not like that we've interfered in their operation."
Jaime sighed as she watched the bound and caged Doctor and Rose get wheeled into the slave facility. "They might not," Jaime counter-argued. "When I confronted tha' Canadian guard at the Court I could feel relief washin' off her. I think they've been undercover for quite some time now and they'd expected no end in sight. But now tha' we are here, things can move on smoothly and safely."
A restless J.D had begun to pace, frustration and anger washing off him. "Great, so they're allies. Can we storm the place?" He more or less demanded to know.
"When we get the signal." Was Jaime's quick answer.
Jenny frowned over at her sister. "What's the signal?" She asked curiously.
Jaime smiled grimly back at Jenny. "Ye'll know once ye hear it." She said rather mysteriously while providing J.D with the needed information via their connection.
J.D's eyes widened in surprise. "He let Rose go full Bad Wolf?" He uttered. "Even though she's pregnant?" And now he had something else to worry about. Rose using her full Bad Wolf powers could harm the baby. What would happen if she transformed into a Wolf?
Jaime smiled at her bond-mate's concern for Rose as they waited. Rose would be fine considering that Bad Wolf would keep her protected.
"What's Bad Wolf?" A curious Susan questioned and expected her Time Travelling family to answer her.
Though it was Malohah who spoke up. "When they introduced themselves in the van it was Rose who called herself Bad Wolf," he said. "I can sense how powerful she is. Just like how I can sense Jaime and Jenny's powers."
Susan became even more curious and was now fascinated again. "But she wasn't always powerful?" Susan questioned. "How did she become Bad Wolf?" It was a normal enough question, though none of them had the time to answer it.
"It's a long story," Jaime answered her cousin. "Maybe Rose will tell ye if ye ask her."
They all waited in silence for the next few minutes until the Scots-girl perked up when her enhanced hearing caught the sound of faint howling. Even J.D, Jenny, Susan, Malohah and Amy were able to hear it.
"What was that?" A wide-eyed Susan asked. "Almost sounded like…a Wolf?" Now Susan was truly intrigued. Was the reasoning why Rose called herself Bad Wolf because she could shape-shift into an actual Wolf? Now she was even more determined to meet the advanced human who had captured her Grandfather's hearts.
"Tha' was Rose," Jaime answered Susan's enquiry. "And tha' was the signal. This is a go!" She took a couple of steps away from the group and began to concentrate on her Flight abilities, shaking her hands, swinging her arms and stomping her feet. "Get ready!" She uttered to her Time Travelling family before bending her knees and taking flight, the Scots-girl zooming up into the sky at such a speed that nobody could keep up with her movement.
"Wow!" An awed Susan uttered as she stared up at the sky.
As she flew up into the sky her momentum seemed to slow and the wind blowing past forced her to close her eyes until she activated her Forcefield. Then she could fly a little faster and see a little better.
*Don't fly too high!* J.D warned her mentally.
Jaime smirked at his concern. *Dinnae worry, I won't.* She replied back.
Finally she stopped and hovered above the Earth just off the edge of Space. "Och, beautiful!" She uttered, taking in the curvature of the planet she used to live on. "Big blue marble."
After a quick change into her Black Bullet disguise, Jaime dived down towards the Earth, going at such a speed that not even RADAR could catch her. As the ground neared her, the Scots-girl pulled herself into a protective ball in order to keep herself safe. She blasted in through the grey roof of the slave facility, followed by several floors of administration and finally to the ground floor, smashing body first and causing a very large quake.
The family if Time Travellers that were waiting outside were completely surprised by the severe ground tremor. Those that were standing lost their balance and fell on their rears. Jenny's loss of concentration caused them to be revealed to the enemy.
"By all the Gods and Goddesses of Gallifrey!" Susan exclaimed with wide eyes. "What just happened?"
A grinning J.D glanced towards Susan before looking back over towards the facility when it looked like smoke was coming from part of the roof. He'd been quite impressed over the speed she'd gone down. "That was Jaime. Normally her anti-grav trainers prevent her from causing tremors and earthquakes. I don't think she landed on her feet." He explained.
"Earthquake Generation?" An equally stunned Malohah queried.
"Yep!" J.D replied, popping the 'p'.
Shouts and barking from guards and dogs caught their attention. "Uhh…I don't think we're invisible anymore!" A panicking Alexia warned them. "Jenny?"
Jenny was sat on the ground, completely dumbfounded. "Sorry!" The young Time Lady uttered. "That earthquake just shocked me!" Despite her infinite and psychic abilities she hadn't expected such a thing to happen.
The guard dogs were snarling and they'd been let loose by their handlers.
"Doctor!" A panicked Amy shouted as Rory clung onto her.
An equally panicked Alexia turned her attention to the dogs. "Not us!" She barked at them urgently, a wave of Zoolinguist Mind Control hitting the animals. "Go after your handlers." The snarling guard dogs skidded to a halt before turning back towards their guard handlers to attack them.
Grimacing at their screams, J.D turned his attention to Jenny. "Take Alexia and the Ponds with you," he told his niece. "I'll follow along with Susan and Malohah."
Jenny nodded, took a hold of Alexia and the ponds before disappearing in a flash. Barely a second after they disappeared, even more guards appeared, yelling away when they saw the three intruders.
"Grandfather!" A worried Susan exclaimed.
"Don't worry, we'll be away any moment!" J.D said to Susan and Mal before grabbing them both. The Silurian had spoken to his guards, telling them to remain outside and attack when necessary.
"How?" Susan asked, her eyes still on the facility guards. "They've got their guns out."
J.D smiled grimly. "I noticed!" He said, wishing he could use two abilities at the same time. The Emulator was warmed up but they were currently vulnerable and out in the open.
Suddenly Malohah lashed his tongue out towards the armed facility guards, injuring them with his poison and disabling them of their guns.
"Nice one, Mal." J.D congratulated before they all teleported away. They reappeared next to a large hole in the ground in what looked like the main processing area. Naked would-be slaves were doing their best to stay out of danger from the chaos around them. Jenny and Jaime were using their telekinesis to blast away armed guards, knocking them out, whilst Alexia, Amy and Rory were protected by a Forcefield.
"Thank you," Malohah spoke up as they moved into the protective Forcefield. "From birth we have part of our tongue and venom sacs cut out. But authorities don't realise we can grow them back, so we hide this ability as best we can." He explained.
Though shocked and disgusted, a grimacing J.D wasn't all that surprised that the United States would take the natural defences away from the Silurians. Meanwhile, Susan rubbed Malohah's arm in comfort having previously learned about it from the Silurian.
J.D turned his attention to the battling women, watching as a particularly troublesome guard had a ball of water thrown at him, followed by being electrocuted, screaming in pain. *Do either of you need help?* He mentally asked the pair.
*Not at this moment.* Jenny replied.
*We're fine.* Came a terse answer from Jaime.
With a hint of a nod, and knowing they could look after themselves, he turned his attention to Alexia, Amy and Rory. "How are you?" He asked them, noticing some would-be slaves huddled nearby under a desk.
"We're okay," Rory said. "This is madness!" He added as an afterthought. "I'm a nurse and I'm watching people get injured, or worse." Amy hugged and kissed him for comfort.
Alexia smiled grimly at the married couple. "You could always check on the welfare of the prisoners." She suggested to the nurse, nodding her head towards the nearest group of would-be slaves.
Rory looked over at them and cringed as they looked so small and vulnerable. Their own country had done this to them. "Yeah, I will. Just as soon as things have calmed down." He muttered.
It merely took several minutes to despatch all the visible guards, but there was nowhere to currently put them, so Jaime shoved them into the large hole she had caused, while Jenny manifested a cover to put over the hole.
There was an awkward silence that followed until one of the braver would-be slaves spoke up. "Mal? Lady Campbell? What is going on here?" He queried, standing up.
Both Malohah and Susan looked at each other before looking at the prisoner. They took a step forward and it was Malohah who addressed the would-be slaves, explaining the current situation.
Meanwhile, Jenny and Jaime hurried off to find The Doctor and Rose, with Alexia following behind. Along the way, the two All-Powerfuls despatched several more straggler guards, either leaving them knocked out or Mind Controlled idiots pretending to be a clucking chicken. Alexia barely gave them a glance. It was just far too weird. Soon enough they reached the corridor that led to the Medical Centre. There was already a guard lying dead on the floor.
Jenny inspected the body. "He's been strangled to death by a pair of very strong jaws," she observed. "With sharp teeth." She looked at Jaime and Alexia. "Rose did this." It wasn't a question but Jaime nodded in confirmation anyway.
They moved on, quickly hurrying to the medical centre. Slamming the doors open, Jenny stormed into the room, only to come to a sudden halt with a shocked exclamation. Jaime stopped beside her while Alexia bumped into the back of her daughter. Lying on the floor in a large pool of blood was the body of a medical professional. He'd been mauled to death, his throat ripped out. "Oh, blimey!" Jenny uttered.
"What? What is it?" Alexia wanted to know and peered around her daughter where she immediately spotted the torn up bloody body on the floor. Face going pale, her eyes widened. You never saw pool of blood and torn up bodies in 'Doctor Who', so this was a very new experience for Alexia. So much so that she turned away to wretch.
Over on the other side of the room, Rose had heard them enter noisily as she spoke to The Doctor and rubbed his aching jaws for him. She'd already freed him from his bonds, took his legs off the spreader and unstrapped the Bit Gag from his mouth. It had done some minor damage but he would heal quickly. Now all she had to do was get him off the chair and get that stupid collar off him. Her bond-mate could barely move a muscle apart from small twitches. She couldn't wait the full thirty minutes until he regained full movement.
Rose turned to her fellow travellers, noticing Alexia was off being sick. "A little bit of help here!" The blonde requested.
Jenny came to their aid while Jaime guided her mother away from the body, telling her not to look at it.
"Rose!" The Doctor muttered to her and she returned her gaze to him, a comforting smile on her face. "Thank you!" He said, his brown eyes wide and emotional, his voice unusually quiet.
Rose's smile turned into the smile he loved the most. "No problem, Doctor. I'd do anything for you." She said and chuckled when he raised his brows.
They were joined by Jenny and Jaime and with their combined help they managed to get The Doctor out of the chair and placed him onto the floor, leaning against the side of the chair. The Time Lord groaned as the floor's coldness seeped into him, cooling his punished bum cheeks.
"Are you okay?" Alexia questioned him.
"Oh yes, perfectly tip top!" Came The Doctor's sarcastic reply. "Almost became a eunuch and I can't move a muscle!" Although he was regaining some movement it was slow going.
All four females exchanged looks and laughed in relief that his situation hadn't been too much for him to bare. The Doctor frowned at their reactions before rolling his eyes.
"We need to get this stupid collar off him." Rose spoke up, reaching out towards it.
"Actually, you two need to put some clothes on!" Jenny suggested and took off the bigger on the inside backpack.
The Doctor made a happy sound when he realised his clothes had been saved. But he also knew it would take awhile before he'd be able to get them on. So he concentrated on getting full movement back.
As for Rose, she had completely forgotten she was naked. She'd been fully concentrating on keeping her Doctor safe to worry about her own nakedness. "Oh, brilliant!" She uttered and started digging around in the now open backpack.
Meanwhile, Jaime had shifted closer to The Doctor to get a better look at the unfamiliar collar that had been forced on him. It looked very chunky and most certainly packed with technology, including that electrified spike in the back of his neck. She could even sense it via her electrokinesis. "I'm really unfamiliar with this make of collar," Jaime spoke up.
The Doctor opened his eyes and looked at her, brow furrowed.
"It's really surprisin' they had this without me even knowin' 'bout it." She continued to peer at the collar, her part Time Lord brain attempting to figure out what she should do.
"Why do you think they hid it from you?" The Doctor questioned her and gave a thankful smile to a half clothed Rose when she threw his coat over his lap, giving him some privacy.
Jaime looked up at The Doctor, her dark eyes thoughtful as Rose, Alexia and Jenny watched their interaction. "I dinnae know," she answered her dad. It was a perfectly good question and the very thought bothered her quite a bit. "But I do know I can get it off with my Cyberkinesis. All I have tae do is deactivate it." And she reached her hands out towards it.
As soon as they touched the collar,Jaime was blasted with images of a dead Timeline and electrocuted with a high voltage electrical energy. She was unable to absorb it as it burned at her hands and through her body to the point her pained screams joined The Doctor's and she could barely move a muscle as they had all locked up. There were floods of panic before something slammed into her, forcing her to let go of the collar. As she hit the floor she lost consciousness for the moment.
Jenny turned her attention to her dad, watching as he whined while Rose comforted him. Dark red pain pulsed off him.
"What the hell was that?" A panicky wide-eyed teary Alexia demanded. She had her daughter's head in her lap and she was running a comforting hand through her raven coloured hair.
"I don't know!" Jenny replied. She stared at the collar, debating whether it was safe for her or anyone else to touch it. Her sister should have been able to absorb the electrical charge, yet hadn't been able too.
With Rose's help, The Doctor took in several deep soothing breaths as he suffered from spasms. He too had been electrocuted and she'd yet to find out what the damage was.
The doors of the Medical Centre slammed open and J.D stormed in. "What the hell happened?" He demanded. "Where is she?" Within seconds he was on his knees and carefully checking his still unconscious bond-mate over.
"It was the collar," Alexia told him. "When she touched it she was electrocuted."
Sensing that Jaime was relatively okay, J.D turned his attention to his brother and the problematic collar. What he'd seen via their TARDIS-like connection gave him cause for concern and very likely proved a theory. Looking at The Doctor, it seemed he too had suffered a bit of electrocution as well. Luckily he had Rose to help him through it. The Half-Time Lord moved towards The Doctor, Rose and Jenny and reached his hand out towards the collar.
"No, don't!" Rose was worried. "What if it hurts you too?"
Looking at the blonde, J.D gave her a smile and rubbed her arm in a soothing motion. "It's okay, Rose. I don't think it will." Then he looked at The Doctor, hating that rare look of fear in his eyes, as he reached out towards it. His hand touched the collar and there was a collective sigh of relief when nothing happened. Glasses on, he gave the collar a thorough inspection, running his hand around the entire thing. It was quite a chunky piece of technology and judging from the state of his brother it was obviously used as a device of torture.
Needing a deeper inspection, J.D searched for his Sonic Screwdriver and pulled it from his pocket. There was an air of tenseness in the room as he scanned the collar with the Sonic. Once he received the results, J.D shook his head and whistled in wonder.
"What have you found?" Rose asked.
J.D gave the collar a long stare before looking at The Doctor and Rose. "This thing is full of alien technology," he explained. "It's been duplicated so every one of them is the same. Further more, it's somehow attuned to her DNA."
Alexia gasped, horrified that this particular slave collar was targeted towards her daughter. "How?" She asked. "Is that why it shocked her? Because it has some of her DNA in it?" She looked down at her still unconscious daughter, running her hand through her hair.
"No," J.D shook his head. "It doesn't have her DNA. But it recognises her DNA. So when she touched it the electrical energy activated. It must be a failsafe if an escape is ever attempted. No touching of the collar allowed." He looked at his unconscious bond-mate, worried for her safety.
"That's what I was trying to say before she touched it," The Doctor croaked. "This isn't any run of the mill collar. With the amount of off-world technology stuffed in it, it's meant to null everything. I can't sense a thing. Everything's gone and it hurts my head." The Doctor admitted and sighed when Rose reached out and ran a hand through his hair. "Somebody else knew Jaime was here."
A groan from said Scots-girl caught their attention and J.D scurried back to her side. A grimace appeared on Jaime's face as she slowly regained consciousness. She could feel floods of concern and worry washing off everyone. The pain from the electrical energy was already fading away but the burns she could feel on her hands were taking a little longer to heal. When she opened her eyes she found J.D and her mum looking down at her.
"Hey, my Little Time Lady," Alexia spoke to her, running a comforting hand through her hair. "How are you feeling?"
Before she could answer, J.D also spoke to her too. "You had me worried there," he said. "When I felt your pain I came running."
Jaime smiled weakly and struggled to sit up, wincing at the pain in her hands. "Aye, I'm okay now," she croaked a reply and accepted their hugs. She even let J.D inspect her slowly healing hands and chuckled when he kissed them better. "It's the Shadow Proclamation." Jaime eventually stated. "Again." There were waves of confusion from everyone else.
"What do you mean?" Her mum asked. "Is that who made the collars?"
For a moment Jaime was confused, wondering why her mum would link the collars to the Space Police. "No, I dinnae know who made the collars," she replied and looked over at her dad to see that the collar was still on him. And she couldn't do a thing to remove it. "But the electrical energy tha' knocked me out…I recognise it. The same energy was used by a Tessalecta and they were workin' with the Shadow Proclamation." Images of the dead Timeline returned to the forefront of her Mind and they made her shudder. "I'm so glad I forced my younger self tae leave." She muttered thoughtfully.
Alexia was shocked. She remembered what the Tessalecta did to River Song in the episode when The Doctor and the Ponds had crash landed in Nazi Germany. The robot shapeshifter operated by tiny people had tortured River for her crimes. And it was obvious they had done the same to her daughter. "Oh, Jaime!" She sobbed out and gathered up her daughter in a bone crushing protective hug.
Feeling awkward, Jaime patted her mum's back in comfort. "I'm okay now!" She uttered.
"But she isn't though!" Alexia argued back, upset and teary eyed. "You sent her off to be tortured by that walking talking judgement machine."
Jaime winced as she continued to rub her mum's back in comfort. It was clear she had become overwhelmed with the actions of her daughter's younger self, as well as the actions of today. The room had gone quiet and Jaime could sense that everyone was watching them. "It had tae be done, ma', or else none of us would be here right now!" She hoped her mum would understand that.
"And what about the collar?" Alexia demanded, pulling back to look her daughter in the eyes. "That collar, with that amount technology and defences was clearly created with you in Mind!"
Brows furrowed, Jaime took a glance at the dreaded collar that she'd seen her younger self forced to wear in the dead Timeline. "I'm well aware!" She answered back, hoping her mum would drop the subject because she was feeling really uncomfortable.
Luckily, J.D could sense his bond-mate's discomfort and decided to help take the pressure off her. "Speaking of that collar, I think it's time we got that thing off you." The Half-Time Lord suggested as he scrambled back to his brother's side.
"About time!" The Doctor mumbled, his eyes closed as he tried to concentrate on regaining full mobility.
With Screwdriver in hand and a grim smile, J.D Soniced the collar in order to deactivate and unlock it. Unfortunately it didn't work.
The Doctor opened his eyes at the sound of a groan and a Gallifreyan swear. "What is it?" He asked, tired of not being able to do anything.
"It's deadlock sealed," J.D stated. "It doesn't have any other way to be unlocked by key either." He smiled in what he hoped was a reassuring way at a wide-eyed Doctor. "Luckily I have a laser setting on my Sonic." He switched to the laser setting and was about to attack the collar with it when Rose grabbed his wrist.
"Stop!" She told him and the Half-Time Lord raised a brow at her.
"Yes?" He queried.
"What if there are explosives in it?" Rose said to him.
Brows still raised, J.D looked to the collar and then back to Rose. "There's definitely no explosives," he replied. "I scanned it and only found alien tech, nothing that could explode."
Rose seemed hesitant, but she let go of J.D's wrist anyway. "Okay." She mumbled.
"Thank you." J.D said to her and put the Sonic close to the collar and pressed the button. The laser hit the collar and because of the material it was made out of, J.D had expected it to melt the outer collar into the inner workings, thus deactivating the collar. None of that happened and J.D stared at it in disbelief as it remained undamaged. There wasn't a sign of a blemish on the material. "Blimey!" J.D uttered out of exasperation. "Someone really didn't want you escaping." He glanced at Jaime with a knowing look and she stared back, eyes wide.
The Doctor caught the look on his brother's face and couldn't keep his temper at bay. "Right now I don't care what is going on between you, I just want this damn thing off!" He snapped out, brown eyes dark and stormy. Rose gawped, surprised that her bond-mate would use such strong language. She could sense he was extremely angry, but beneath all that was worry and fear. She recognised that The Doctor was very scared.
"Can't it wait until we get back to the TARDIS?" Alexia queried.
The Doctor groaned in frustration. "No, no," he tried to shake his head but winced at the pain in the back of his neck. "That won't work. The collar registers fast movement and I can't move a muscle. I'll only hold you up."
A growl emitted from Rose's mouth and her eyes glowed golden. "Don't even think about it, Doctor. We're not leaving you behind!" She told her bond-mate.
"Well what else are we meant to do?" Alexia asked. "That thing is indestructible."
The Doctor sighed and closed his eyes when a full blown argument broke out. This wasn't going to help him escape the collar. He didn't think he'd be ever rid of it.
"Aren't you forgetting something?" He heard Rose butt in over the arguing and he opened his eyes to see that her eyes were glowing a brighter gold. He gulped, fearing she was going to do something stupid. "I am a Time Goddess, I am Bad Wolf and I won't allow this collar to remain on My Doctor any further." And despite protestations from everyone else, Bad Wolf's hand reached out towards the collar and gripped it.
Almost immediately, The Doctor could feel a tingling sensation around his neck as the collar began to atomize into tiny gold particles. Even before they dissipated into nothing his headache spiked into a sharp pain as all his senses and abilities came back to him all in one go. It hurt so much that he yelled out in pain, his eyes closing when the lights got too bright for him to handle. And if he'd had full movement he would have been able to put his hands on his head.
Meanwhile everyone else were feeling his echos of pain via their family connection. Despite the ache in her head, Bad Wolf pulled The Doctor towards her and ran a soothing hand through his hair, a soft gold light emitting from her palm. "Let me help you, My Doctor," She whispered. "Let me soothe the pain away."
"Let me help too!" Jenny spoke up. She had scooted closer to The Doctor, rainbow coloured healing energy floating off her hands. She placed one of them on the wound on the back of his neck, a soft moan escaping The Doctor's mouth.
"And me!" Jaime uttered next, her hands glowing white with healing energy. She placed her hands on The Doctor's temples in a bid to heal his mental defences.
The Time Lord could sense their love towards him as the feeling returned to his body.
Meanwhile, as he rubbed his aching temples, J.D, alongside Alexia, watched as the three All-Powerfuls healed The Doctor.
