Hey Hey Hey!
Morning to all and hopefully you're having a good morning/day/evening/whatever time zone you're in lol. Heck even whatever dimension you're in as well hehe. So basically there's been pretty neat ideas on how this story will further play out but if anything I already have the general layout and such, but that doens't mean these ideas will be neglected and you'll see them the more this story goes on! Anyway enough with the boring details so let's dive right in! ^u^

Chapter 22: Spagonia Siege III
"Where am I?... This is very strange…"

"SONIC!"
'Is… Is that… Amy?' he questioned himself with effort. His vision was blurry looking to the source: a pink blob was definitely heading his way. 'N-No, Amy… get out…'
Sonic was too distracted to notice the mech about to land with the motorcycle wheels heading straight towards him.
Ready to tear through.

"CHAOS SPEAR!"
A shot of bright energy struck the Moto-Bug along with the mech out of the way and preventing it from hitting Sonic. The blue hedgehog's vision was still blurry but his ears picked up the sound of hover shoes coming his way with a black and red figure near him. "Get up faker! You need to move!"
Sonic felt a hand grab his arm as he was pulled up. He shook his head and his gaze became clear once more seeing Shadow pulling him out of danger. "Hehe thanks for the save." Sonic said. Shadow merely tsked and let go of him as the two ran from the purple mech on the vehicle which recovered and headed straight towards them.
Blaze and Jian teamed up taking down many of the robots with ease as they dodged missiles and other projectiles headed their way. The purple feline continued to spout flames at them weaving through the incoming horde, delivering devastating strikes utilizing fireballs and streams of flames. She ran towards a group of ten and jumped up doing a frontflip spinning further more until her entire form was covered in fire and she dashed towards them, releasing a heavy explosion upon impact and decimating the mechs.
Jian's claws tore through the metal of their enemies in which her palms glowed with chi energy. Shockwaves were released with the white tiger attacking faster than lightning and clearing the field within seconds. Flying robots readied their launchers and targeted Jian, firing their missiles and lasers to which she jumped high and rebounded off one gliding towards another one. On all fours she traversed the missiles using swift reflexes and barrel rolling around some to gain momentum. Upon reaching the last missile she then placed her palms together and built up an enormous amount of chi.
"TIGER DRIVE!"
BOOM!
A beam of pure energy disintegrated her foes releasing a series of explosions. She moved the beam across the others to which they also blew up upon contact and reduced the enemy's numbers greatly. Once they were cleared she let off the attack and jumped back to gain some distance, noticing more mechs marching towards them with others flying.
"Man they're persistent!" Jian said roundhousing one that approached her with an axe.
Blaze struck one with a fire fist and pulled back, the robot short-circuiting before falling to the ground and jumping to the white tiger. "Yeah but we must keep fighting!"
Jian grinned. "No worries I can do this all-?!"
Two missiles teleported in front of them.
Followed by an explosion.

Bunker, Amy and Rouge helped out one another in clearing the mechs attacking their way. The teal green tortoise stopped using rapid spin and simply took them out with graceful strikes imbued with chi energy. Her movements were swift and calm yet they provided great results, Bunker sidestepping a sword thrown her way and with a finger she repelled the robot with enough force to damage the others that collided with it. Bunker ducked avoiding a mace swung towards her to which she performed a sweep kick causing the mech to trip.
SLAM!
The tortoise thrusted her palm through its body as the robot ceased functioning. "You will not continue to harm this land."
"HYAH!"
Rouge flipped towards approaching mechs and destroyed them with intense drill kicks. While she only has one wing the ivory batgirl used it to her advantage by adding more precision to her attacks. Curving the appendage at different did her form improve which utilized her techniques to strike weak points at greater accuracy. Although it would have helped better with both wings she adapted quickly to only one, though initially she had a hard time accepting that she has lost her ability to fly. Weaving through bullets fired her way she jumped high in the air and performed another drill kick, folding her wing slightly and using it to control her movements as she penetrated through the hard defenses of the mechs like nothing. Several explosions followed suit with Rouge sidestepping one almost striking her and throwing a kick towards it which sent it flying into a building. "You almost had me bud, but you'll never touch me." she said before jumping back to avoid a spear thrown at her.
"I WON'T LET YOU HURT SONIC!" Amy was currently busy with the purple mech riding the Moto-Bug but had no success in landing a hit. The robot kept on teleporting every time she swung her hammer at it, several quakes occurring whenever her weapon struck the ground. The pink hedgehog meant business and her olive eyes showed rage upon seeing her cobalt hero almost getting shredded by its wheels. "HOLD STILL YOU UGLY CREEP!"
The purple mech beeped several times and revved the Moto-Bug, the eyes on the vehicle displaying anger as well. Amy stood at the other side of them wielding her hammer tightly. "YEAH YOU HEARD ME! C'MON!"
The two then rushed at each other, Amy's feet pounding the pavement with the robot's Motobug crossing it quickly. The pink hedgehog jumped in the air and prepared an overhead smash. "TAKE THIS!"
SMASH!
The attack landed.
…
"W-What?!"
But the mech blocked it easily by raising an arm. Amy was in shock that it was able to withstand it. "T-There's no wa-!"
"AMY!"
She turned quickly.
Seeing a missile teleporting right near her.
BOOM!
Amy felt the force of the impact as she skidded onto the floor and rolled several times to a stop. She groaned in pain and slowly got up, her vision blurry and seeing raging destruction all around. Shaking her head she blinked several times and checked herself out, seeing only minor bruising which left her confused. "Wait if I didn't get hit then who-?"
She gasped loudly, seeing Sonic a few feet away heavily injured and seeping blood.
"SONIC!"
Amy got up running frantically towards him and picking his upper body up to her lap. The blue hedgehog was unconscious with his expression showing extreme exhaustion. "S-SONIC P-PLEASE! D-DON'T LEAVE M-ME!" she cried out sobbing.
"GET OUT OF THE WAY AMY!" Shadow's voice was heard as he skated passed them charging up a Chaos Spear at the purple mech
"Right by you handsome!" Rouge joined him as she ran towards the same enemy ready to take it down. Bunker also met them running at high speeds as well. "Allow me to assist." she said. The three were rapidly approaching the robot and looked like they would succeed.
BEEP. BEEP.
"AAAUUGH!" the trio shouted being slammed into the ground by sudden dark clawed hands that appeared out of portals. Tremors radiated through the ground in which Shadow, Rouge and Bunker struggled to get out of their grasp. The black hedgehog however knew better. "CHAOS CONTROL!"

Except it didn't work.
"W-What?! Why can't I get out?!"
The sounds of revving were heard in which Shadow looked back at the mech with hate in his eyes as he continued to pry himself out. Not only that, but he began feeling weaker and weaker. 'H-Huh… these things… are siphoning… chaos…'
Shadow's eyes slowly began closing as he slipped in and out of being conscious. The other two were in the same boat struggling to stay awake.
Not knowing three pairs of missiles teleporting at point blank range near them, causing three sets of explosions.
"NOOOO!" Amy cried out clutching Sonic tightly. "SHADOW! ROUGE! BUNKER!"
She gasped however, a stunned look on her face upon the smoke clearing out.
A missile heading her way.
BOOOOOOM!"
Tikal watched in horror from the hiding spot she was in. Amy took her to a building at the very edge of the town where there wasn't much destruction but if anything it'll keep her safe. However she couldn't fathom the scenery happening right now with her friends being taken out by the mech.
"N-No… please Chaos… someone…" the echidna princess scampered backwards in the room she was in until her back hit the wall. She clutched her head in disbelief. "T-They can't… p-please Chaos n-no…"
VROOM VROOM!
The orange echidna's ears perked up at the sound of the mech's engine starting to head her way, Tikal's eyes widening.
Does it know where she was?
Tikal trembled heavily and hugged herself trying to stay quiet. Tears came out of her eyes knowing that the robot might find her and apply the same fate to her like the others. She didn't want to believe it however but unfortunately her eyes witnessed it.
Her ears heard the engine get closer and closer to the building and becoming loud enough to rattle the broken glass. She clenched her eyes and teeth tightly not wanting to be discovered but most likely the robot was very aware of where she was and planned to send her to the next life. She continued to quietly sob and really hoped for salvation.
'Someone… anyone… guardian… Knuckles…'

The ground suddenly began to tremble violently.
Tikal looked up in shock and almost lost her balance. Not only that but her ears didn't pick up the sound of the mech anymore, only the heavy earthquakes resonating throughout. "W-What i-is g-going o-on?" she said.
The room itself got darker and Tikal noticed a window that showed the outside. Slowly getting up and walking to it while keeping steady her blue eyes gazed at the scene, gasping out loud.
A large pillar of dark energy arose high into the sky from the other side of the barrier.

Knuckles panted heavily from the energy attack he let out as the green mech he fought was consumed in the blast. Black smoke covered the sky with bolts of lightning and sounds of thunder being overheard throughout. The scenery around continued to show devastation with buildings still in flames and pieces of debris littering the ground everywhere. Spagonia looked like hell with the dark barrier still separating himself from the others.
The red echidna lowered his arms as he chuckled to himself. "That… should… do it." he let out. Knuckles then turned towards the barrier in thought. 'Getting through that is probably not a good idea… but I don't think it passes through the ground so I'll dig my way to the other side!'
Readying his fists Knuckles was about to launch himself into the ground.
Until a series of violent rumblings almost caused him to lose his balance.
"What the heck?!" Knuckles shouted turning back to the sky. Stunned violet eyes turned into rage as the red echidna noticed the Phantom Shinobi reveal itself from the smoke unharmed and undamaged. A pillar of dark energy rose from its form into the sky with a similar aura surrounding its body. Menacing red eyes continued to look at him as the villain slowly descended towards the ground, levitating a few feet above it.
"I should've known! Well I guess I can go for a round two!" Knuckles pumped his fists and teleported behind the mech throwing a flame-infused punch.
POW!
Knuckles gasped in pain as the green robot instantly teleported above him and smashed the male echidna into the ground causing cracks and tremors to form. Blood came out of Knuckles' mouth, expression stunned at how much faster the Phantom Shinobi was.
However Knuckles recovered and teleported out throwing a chi-powered kick.
Only for the mech to disappear and reappear faster than before throwing its own attack into Knuckles.
"AAUUGH!" Knuckles was launched into a building, crashing through the structure and causing debris and broken glass to fall. More quakes erupted from the collision with dust and smoke rising. Eventually did it settle down and the red echidna punched his way out of the rubble holding his side and panting heavily. "A-Alright, no more games…"
Knuckles bolted off infused with red lightning and began throwing a barrage of attacks at the Phantom Shinobi, his opponent retaliating with attacks of its own. The two fought heavily and violently throughout the area teleporting at various places and causing shockwaves throughout. Knuckles sent energy blasts out of his palms towards the mech but it utilized its blades to block them, spinning them rapidly to divert the beams back towards Knuckles. Several struck his body yet he blocked them as well with his arms and at times teleporting out of the way. Not only that but the mech was slightly faster than him in which several times did the red echidna get struck by its strikes.
The Phantom Shinobi threw a volley of rockets towards Knuckles but the latter grab them with brute strength and threw them back towards the others, causing several explosions while running towards the mech at high speeds. Knuckles teleported once more upfront the robot charging up an energy attack.
The same result, the Phantom Shinobi disappeared.
'Gotcha!'
Knuckles vanished quickly and appeared above the Phantom Shinobi, its head turning a full one eighty.
"CHAOS DRIVE!"
A huge blast of energy consumed his enemy and sent it flying towards the ground causing yet another eruption to emit. Knuckles yelled in rage as he continued his assault pouring all the energy he has within himself. Bright white light filled the area with the beam jettisoning into the earth and creating a dome of energy that continued to expand.
Knuckles released the attack and then powered up a blue energy sphere above him to finish it off.
"CHAOS BOMB!" Knuckles shouted throwing it down.
BOOOOOOOOOOM!
A huge detonation occurred as violent winds and earthquakes rattled everywhere. The buildings were engulfed by the blast with the dome getting bigger and bigger, bursts of dust dispersing around it. Knuckles watched with satisfaction floating down to the ground and collapsing onto one knee, sweat running down his face as he gasped for breath. The dome eventually subsided and the scenery of this section of the town was shown completely annihilated, leaving a scorched earth environment. Smoke rose in pillars to the sky with ash falling down in bits and pieces.
"Now *PANT* that *PANT* should *PANT* do *PANT* it." Knuckles struggled to say clenching his eyes tight.
"KNUCKLES!"
His ears picked up a yell and still panting he turned slowly opening his eyes. A grin slowly appeared on his face.
"Don't worry we're almost there!" Dulcy announced as she and Cinder flew towards his location with wide smiles.
Knuckles can only nod feeling relieved. 'Thank Chaos you two are here. Now I can rela-.'
Time nearly stopped.
And for good reason.
As the red echidna was barely able to catch it. His eyes widened dramatically.
To the incoming shuriken heading towards Cinder.

SLASH!
…
Knuckles was frozen in astonishment.
His mind was still with no thoughts.
Expression not wanting to believe it.
All noise around him left his ears and it was as if he couldn't hear anything.
Yet only the sounds of Dulcy muffling frantically rang through them with his violet eyes picking up the horrified look on her face as she headed towards the young orange pheasant.
Except this was different now.
The cheerful bundle of joy that Knuckles and the Shinjin Warriors saw as family.
Has been…

"CINDER!"
…
Her name rang through Knuckles. He really didn't want to believe it… but his own eyes saw it. He was witnessing everything with the teal dragon hugging her lifeless body.
He didn't want to describe what the shuriken did but it managed to do its job.
Knuckles really didn't want to believe it… and now he was thinking of various things.
Was he not strong enough?
Why Cinder of all people?
Why ruin his new life?
What was it?
Several questions popped into his mind… but if anything an answer stood out from all others.

'You are a disgrace. You bring shame to yourself and others. You can't even defend your family. Even abandoning your duty as guardian… you cannot forge a better future for yourself and others…'

This made Knuckles feel so many emotions…
But one stood out a lot more than the others…
And it's one that he was very familiar with…

Twin-spiked hands turned into fists, crimson fur began to turn darker in color, quills slowly rose up, a menacing black aura covered his form. And most of all.
Violet eyes were consumed by a white light.
'Kill… them… all…'

... well that was definitely something.
So yeah, first major event happened.
What will happen next? Will everyone survive the onslaught or be defeated?
