A/n: Hello everyone thank you for your patience on this. I don't own Percy Jackson. Yes, I miss spelled several names of the gods I will be going back and fixing them. On with the story! Sorry for the wait I was alternating between this and my original story and making prep work for releasing it on Amazon vella.
Elizabeth ran for her life the baying of monstrous hounds hot on her heels. Lucky for her she had her bow and a quiver full of arrows that never seemed to run out. This she thought was the best gift she ever received though she knew at one time she didn't think that way. if you asked her three months ago if she would appreciate them she would have beat you with a rock, healed you, and beat you again. As it came from her father who had just left her and her mother when she was born. Her mom had remarried about three years ago. For those first two years, her life was perfect. Elizabeth felt she knew it was too good to last when she was attacked at her school by an Empusa her stepdad lost his arm in the attack trying to defend her. This then cost him his job and he started to drink and then it was a slow spiral into abuse of her and her mother.
Elizabeth lost in thought and not paying attention to where she placed her footing cursed as she felt tumble rolling down a bowl of sorts and felt herself slam into chiseled stone. Grunting she glanced up to see what she had tumbled into. Elizabeth was surprised to see a statue about seven ft in height of a gargoyle in Greek-style armor minus a helmet with a gladiolus-type sword and shield raised in a defensive stance. It was strange to find in the middle of the woods, but the baying of hounds that had just appeared over the crest from where she fell reminded her that she didn't have time to think about such strange oddities.
Luckily for her, Elizabeth spotted a cave in a nearby cliff that wasn't visible unless one came down the ridge she had fallen down. She rushed past the statue and into the cave only to hear a mighty roar that sent shivers down her spine and against her better judgment rushed to the front of the cave mouth and couldn't believe her eyes the stone Statue had come to life and was now a seven ft silver skinned black haired monster surrounded by the pack of other monsters but the gargoyle seemed unfazed. The creature made quick work of the pack using it's great wings to push back others and any that got through were sliced in two by the Gargoyle's sword or beat down by it's shield. Even the gargoyle tail was a weapon acting like a mighty whip everytime they tried to make their way towards the cave till they finally gave up and ran away. She sighed in relief, but it was short lived as she saw the monster turn folding it's wings and head towards the cave she was moving farther in hoping to hide from this armored monster.
Percy pov
Percy huffed in annoyance as he folded his wings he hated other monsters invading his territory. It wasn't something that happened often anymore but it still erked him. Making his way to the cave he currently called home Percy noticed human shaped tracks leading towards his cave meaning he most likely had a demigod or unlucky clear sighted mortal of some kind waiting for him. sheathing his sword but keeping his shield active and his hand on the hilt of said sword he called out after smelling the scent of one of Apollo's children, "I know you're there if you're hurt I will help you. If you don't want to come out I understand but I will becoming in to grab a different set of weapons for hunting. I will defend myself if necessary. There is a cavern in the center of the middle tunnel with a hearth your free to use once I leave. I will make sure to bring enough food back for you as well."
After entering and locating the child who appeared to be a ten year old girl Percy grabbed his bow and arrows before scaling the ridge face to take flight. Circling to the west heading towards the river that was near by Percy planned on checking the traps he had laid last night if he was lucky he might have some salmon in his fish wheels. As he got close to his destination he saw a large group of tents curious as this forest was no camping grounds Percy silently land and made his way close to the camp but stopped when he saw that the entire group was girls dressed in silver and then started to back petal when he saw his patron emerge from her tent in the center. While he worshipped her as his patron he was not blind to her distaste of men and monsters of which he was both. Saying a quick prayer to her he let her know that he had made it into her camp perimeter by flight and meant no disrespect or hostility. He also mentioned that he had a girl that may be willing to join the hunt in his cave though he hadn't had a chance to actually talk to her as she was being chased by hellhounds when he awoke. With that he took off so as to not taking the chance of being skewered by arrows and resumed his hunt coming across a elk soon after using his bow and aiming quickly he took the creature's life wounding it and then giving chase with his enhanced senses he was able to quickly track the buck and end it's suffering quickly.
Artemis pov
Artemis grit her teeth at hearing his prayer. Sighing she knew she couldn't really do anything about it though and if she was honest he was decent for a male. He also made a good areal scout for hunts when it came to monsters. Something she would never would have admitted a few years ago let alone out loud. She still remembered her first time meeting the boy. Catching Zoe as she finished assigning dinner prep informing her that she would need her and two others on standby to head to the gargoyle's cave and pick the girl up if she accepts to Join the hunt. As she finished her task of checking on her hunters Artemis couldn't help but think about how she first met Percy and the arrangements she had in place with him.
Flash back
Artemis flashed back to her hunter's campsite and stormed to her tent. Her hunters wisely avoided her all except her lieutenant Zoe who would work to cool her temper for the other girls sake. When Zoe reached her she went to speak. But Artemis was in no mood and she needed to be calm when she explained to the girls or there would be problems.
So instead held up a hand and said," I will explain in my tent lieutenant. Not a moment sooner."
Once there she summoned two chairs for her and Zoe and said, " I was made to take a oath to not hunt and offer a monster boy join the hunt due to a new prophecy that said boy a son of Poseidon will find purpose with the hunt. Farther threatened to strip you all of your immortality if I didn't comply"
Artemis could see the anger burn in Zoe's eyes at this and could help but chuckle despite the situation as Zoe normally calm and collected sputtered and then began to rant and curse at the stupidity of such a decision. It was then that Artemis felt one of her sacred deer call out to her in urgency meaning it was under attack or injured in some by monsters or foolish mortal men most likely that would soon feel her wrath.
Sending out one of her other forums she made her way to the rocky out crop her deer was perched on for safety against a moderate sized pack of griffins and hell hounds. This actually worried her a bit as she couldn't just take her divine form without risking killing her scared animal. Figuring it was best she began with the hell hounds as that would give her deer would be able to get into the woods. She had just started on the pack when the griffins started to drop from arrows piercing their chest. She was unsure who was helping her but at the moment she was grateful as it cut down on her work and allowed her deer to escape fairly quickly. Once it was safe she took on her true form killing the remaining monsters. All but one when she stretched out her godly senses. Growling she summoned her bow and began to stalk toward were she felt the monster. It was then that a deep male voice rang out, "There is no need for that my lady I was just passing through when I saw the pack of monsters I meant no harm or to disrespect to your hunt if this was a planned hunt. With your permission I will leave and not bother you any further."
Artemis grit her teeth in annoyance but despite everything this monster did surprise her by being respectful and seemed more willing to be helpful than most she would test this monster as she had a inkling this could be the one she was bound by oath to help she suppected. She called out to the boy as she began to hear russling from the far west tree line, "I will make you a deal boy come out of hiding and I will offer you a small boon in thanks as the deer you helped saved happened to be one of my sacred animals."
"As you wish my lady.", said the voice before out came a seven foot tall gargoyle with silver skin and sea green eyes, dark olive toned hair that went past his wings but did not interfere with his tails movements his front was covered by said bat like wings as they were folded over his chest like a blanket. Once coming into the clearing he bowed to her but did not raise till she told him to do so. Artemis knew instantly that this was Poseidon's son as there was no creature that she knew was like this and could feel the very presence of the sea tides roll off of him. Not unlike Triton when she was near him due to their domains. Reminding herself of her task at hand she glared hard at the male and said in a dismissive tone," Name what you desire beast so that I may get back to my godly duties as soon as possible."
Artemis expected the boy to flinch but instead he met her gaze unflinching his sea green eyes lighting up with a eerie light before he calmed himself, "I wish to know of any place I could dwell as it will be dawn soon and I don't really like being exposed in the daylight as my stone state makes me a easy target for hoodlums. My lady."
Artemis then feeling surprised at such a simple request but felt it would give a chance to test the young demigod and also figure out how the boy looked like he did considering they boy was only five in human years if she remembered correctly.
"Very well I shall grant your request there is a cave system that is hidden by the mist five miles north we use it every so often when my farther is in a bad mood. We use the left tunnel you may use the right. I thank you for your respect boy though I must ask why do sound and look older than you are?
"I was given Triton's power and knowledge by my mother when grandfather helped place the curse on Triton it however had it's price of taking away my childhood I was shown this by Morpheus. Since I have the view points of Triton I have understand the restrictions fate places on interactions with the ancient laws.Since then I have been helping deimgods and goddesses find their way to camp half-blood or Jupiter I am sorry milady but I must go now or I will not be able to make the flight to the cave before sunrise. " said Percy
Artemis watched as the boy flew away she could feel the respect of the boy start to forum as he held the power of a god but did not let it get to his head. She felt she could allow him a place as a scout hunter in her hunt she as there were some who found love in her hunt and while they lost her blessing of immortality they were still a part of her hunt just living away from the group would he be any different with time. Waiting a moment longer she too vanished returning back to her main consciousness.
