Why, oh, WHY did he have to be so short? Hitsugaya Toushirou thought to himself as he walked beside Shunui on their way from a meeting. The boy completely paled in comparison to the eighth captain, and there were still others much taller. In fact, he reasoned, the only person who was shorter than him had to be Yachiru, which didn't much help his self-esteem, because she was still young and had a good deal of growing to do.
As he passed be each of the other captains, Ichimaru, Aizen, Tousen, and then finally, Zaraki, he could feel a nerve in his neck tingling with the annoyance that each and everyone of them looked down on him as though he was a simple lower-rank shinigami, rather than being equal to them.
Even Hinamori and Matsumoto had treated him with little respect, just because they had a few inches over him. In fact, Hitsugaya wagered, he would have probably graduated from the academy and worked his way up the ranks much faster (If it was at all possible) if he were taller.
But he was still young. He still had quite a few years to go before he caught up with those old annoying geezers, and who cared if underling girls mocked him?
That was his reasoning before he passed by the fourth squad and laid eyes on Hanatarou, who could not be much older than Hitsugaya himself. The nerve in his neck grew even more as he treaded on, quicker this time, trying to block the image of everyone towering over him from his mind.
The image quickly dispersed, as the tiny taichou found himself staring up at the first-squad fuku-taichou, with his annoying trademarked mustache.
"Histugaya-Taichou. Yamamoto-Taichou has taken slightly ill, and requested that you take his place in the next meeting, if you so please."
And the boy's cocky smile curled his lip as he nodded his acceptance, feeling on top of the world and ready to show his dominance over all of the /tall/ captains and vice captains that were much less capable.
And suddenly, he felt very content with his stature.
Shiro-kun: ... It should be fairly obvious why I wrote this, but in case no one figured it out, I'm tiny. Thus, why I like badass short characters like Hitsugaya, Edo, Ritsuka, and Ren. This was just a fun way to vent the annoyance at barely breaking 5'.
