After the battle against Shadi, life went back to normal.

Well, mostly. Yugi still had to deal with his dark alter ego, but the other Yugi had calmed down a lot since they met Shadi. He still took over his body to protect him sometimes, but he stopped waking up in random places.

He only wished that his other self kept doing his homework for him.

"Anzu, did you figure out how to use the Key?" Yugi asked his friend who was going home with him.

"No, I've been using it as a necklace just like you, but no black magic or alternate personalities yet."

"That's good. I remember Shadi doing something to me with the key, but I still have no idea what he did…" Yugi looked at the Puzzle, he replaced the previous string that held it with a steel chain, illusion-Katsuya was able to snatch it a little too easily, he didn't want the incident happening again.

The duo came across a large kid group in front of a candy store, "What's with the kids?" Anzu asked.

"It must be a capsule monster machine! It's really popular! It's like chess, but with monsters!"

"Sounds fun!"

"I'll buy one real quickly!" Yugi ran to the queue.

Yugi inserted the coin, but nothing happened, "This stupid machine stole my money!" He started hitting the machine.

Anzu sighed, "Yugi, stop hitting the machine."

"But it stole my 100 yen!" A fist came down on his head.

"What the hell are you doing, you punk? You think you can go around breaking things just because you lost 100 yen?" The store owner yelled.

"S-Sorry!" Why was he apologizing? The machine stole his money!

"Look, it's the national champion!" One of the kids screamed.

"It's Kaiba!" Another one pointed at the newcomer.

It was a long haired boy accompanied by two burly men in black suits.

"Yugi Muto!" The new kid pointed at him.

"...Kaiba?"

"Yes! Mokuba Kaiba! Seto Kaiba's younger brother! I've come to have my vengeance!"

"Sorry, but I think you got the wrong guy, I never saw you in my life!"

"It's not vengeance for me, you moron! It's for my brother! You humiliated him in front of an audience! He was never the same!"

"Look, I didn't humiliate your brother! We played a game and I won! It happens!"

The boy gritted his teeth, "Get the girl!"

One of the men grabbed Anzu, she struggled but her captor was too strong.

"Get your filthy hands away from her!" Dark Yugi assumed the body.

"He will! When we have our match! Hey, old man! We're taking the machine!" Mokuba threw a bundle of money at the owner while his other henchman took the machine.

The boy took Yugi to an empty warehouse. He set up a Capsule Monsters field and invited Yugi to sit across from him.

"So, Yugi, I'm a fair guy! Instead of using my personal collection, we'll take our monsters directly from the machine! That way, I won't have an unfair advantage, right?" Mokuba smirked.

The duo took turns drawing their capsules from the machine, Mokuba got two level 4s and three level 5s, while Dark Yugi got three level 1s, a level 2 and a level 4.

"The machine is rigged, does he think I'm stupid?" Yugi frowned.

"To make things more interesting, if you lose, I'll cut your finger off with this knife!" Mokuba showed a switchblade to Yugi.

"Sure thing, and if I win, you'll suffer a penalty game!"

They set up their fields, "Game start!" They opened the capsules with Mokuba's signal.

They started their game, Mokuba took the first turn. He destroyed one of his enemy's monsters, but Yugi smirked.

"Why are you smiling? You're the one losing!"

"Rule number 1 of gaming: Always act like you have the upper hand." Yugi said.

"Are you lecturing me?!" Mokuba yelled.

"Rule number 2 of gaming: Always stay cool. My turn." Yugi crashed his level 4 monster in one of Mokuba's own level 4, destroying both monsters.

"You moron! You just sacrificed your only strong monster!" Mokuba destroyed another one of Yugi's monsters.

"I'll move my 'Devil Castle' to the left!" Yugi moved his monster.

"And I'll destroy it! You only have one monster left! Victory is mine!"

Yugi chuckled.

"What's with the laugh? Is it another rule? Laugh when you lose miserably?"

"I'm laughing because I won! Look at the field!"

Mokuba's monsters were lined up diagonally from Yugi's last monster.

"W-What?!"

"My 'Torigun' skill is pretty useful, you know? Once per game, it can destroy every monster in a diagonal attack! I won, Mokuba!"

"I…I lost?"

"That's rule number 3! Hold your trump card until the end! Now, free my friend!"

"Fine! Free her!" Mokuba's henchman released Anzu.

"And now, penalty game! The Illusion of Enclosement!"

Mokuba could feel and see a plastic capsule closing around him, "This is not the end, Yugi! My brother's vengeance is on the way!" The capsule closed.

"Let's go, Anzu." Dark Yugi took Anzu out of the warehouse while Mokuba's henchmen tried to snap him out of his madness.

"Yugi, who was that boy, why was he after you?" Anzu bombarded her friend with questions as soon as they were a safe distance from the warehouse.

"He…He was Seto Kaiba's younger brother, I suppose," The normal Yugi was in control again, "Remember when I told you that I stopped playing Duel Monsters? It was one year after I won against Kaiba in the national championship."

Yugi had just won the regionals and was on his way to his second national, he didn't like to brag, but he had a real talent for Duel Monsters! It was natural to him.

In the morning before the championship, he received an envelope. He took it to his room and opened the mysterious letter.

'Yugi Muto, drop out of the championship if you know what's good for you. Any legal action is futile, we'll turn them against you, just give up.'

Accompanying the letter there was a stack of pictures.

Pictures of his family in many situations. His father on the way to work, his mother on the market, his grandpa on the other side of the country sweeping the front of his store.

Anzu on the way to school.

His grandfather sleeping on his bed.

His mother taking a shower.

He flipped through the photos with his trembling fingers, there were pictures of moments that he didn't even remember! Only the last photo was different.

It was KaibaCorp's logo.

"Kaiba is not a good person, he threatened my family over a game! After that letter, I never played Duel Monsters again. Why would I risk my family over a freaking card game?"

"Yugi, this doesn't make any sense! If he threatened you, why is he after vengeance?"

"How am I going to know? I don't know how crazy works!"

"Something is not adding up, I don't think that it was him who sent the letter."

"Does it matter? It was from KaibaCorp! If it wasn't him then it was one of his thugs!"

"Yugi, please, promise me that you'll try to find answers when he comes after you."

"...Fine! I'll try!" He didn't think he would actually manage to reason with Kaiba, but he would at least try.

Mokuba only snapped out of the illusion after one week. When he woke up, Seto was standing by his bed.

"Nii-san?"

"Mokuba, what exactly happened?" Mokuba froze with his brother's tone.

Seto was mad.

"Nii-san! I…I…"

"You what?" The older boy frowned.

"I just wanted to make you happy!"

"Is this how you make me happy? Going after my prey? Losing?"

"It'll not happen again! Please, don't punish me!"

Seto smirked, "I'll not punish you, little brother. In one week, I'll put my plan in motion, and I'll need you there. You know that I love you, right? How can I hurt my dear little brother?"

"R-Really? I mean, I love you too, Nii-san! I'll not fail again!" Mokuba smiled, Seto didn't say that he loved him in years!

"Of course you won't, Mokuba. You're my own blood, after all. And we never lose twice to the same person." Seto patted his head and left the room.

"I'll make you proud, Nii-san!"
