I hope you're all well.

I'll admit I never really intended to come back to this story or even this website. I sorta fell out of writing a number of years ago and only started writing again in the last few years. It's interesting (and a little cringy) to come back and reread my old ideas.

My skills and talents as a writer have definitely improved tremendously as a writer since I last wrote here. Back then I was in junior high and high school, didn't really understand the idea of editing or of proper story planning (or formatting it seems). I would just have an idea, immediately think it was great and stuff it into the story.

That being said, about two or three times a month I get a ping from this old story where someone has left a comment or sent me a PM asking if I'm ever gonna come back and finish this story.

Honestly; no.

I have no intention of coming back. I've changed to much and I'd either have to rework the whole thing of scrap most of what I originally had ideas for a start new.

That being said, bringing closure to the fans and myself would be nice too. So I'd like to discuss what I had planned to do, or at least what I can remember.

After having been bitten and blacked out hiccup would wake up in the care of a strange woman who has the upper half of the human but the lower half of a spider. The woman would introduce herself as Clotho and reveal that she knows who and what hiccup and aria are.

"I felt your awakening, and recognized it as an old thing. Something I have not felt in many years. It is good to know that the dragon knights walk the world once more, they are needed now more than ever."

Clotho would then reveal that the world teeters on the brink of war with many factions already preparing for battle. Clotho pledges her many daughters to hiccup's and aria's cause before directing them to speak with Lord Bryon who is the king of the land.

At first lord Bryon is hesitant, having never actually met a dragon knight and having only heard stories of them. But his royal artisans confirm the cooperation charms hiccup and aria have are genuine, meaning that the king is honor bound to aid them.

Bryon then goes on to explain that once his lands were peaceful and prosperous. But ever since a mining company has appeared his lands have been sickened and weakened. He can barely feed his people and most of them are sick or dying.

Hiccup and aria would go off to disrupt the mining operation and find that at the head of it is the cult of shattered sisters. This cult uses the mines to dig up massive quantities of clay from the earth and uses it to build statues and effigies to their goddess who in exchange grants them eternal youth and immortality.

Teaming up with Lord bryons remaining forces the group attacks several mines and eventually the main facility where a massive statue is housed. During the battle it's revealing the shattered sisters came to bryon and offered him his own eternal youth and immortality in exchange for allowing the mining to begin. Lord Byron admits to the deceit but decries that it was not a fair trade as the mines have poisoned his lands and his people.

The group fights on and manage to destroy the large statue of the shattered sisters goddess which causes most of them to be depowered and suddenly age and die. Though not all of them.

Later in the palace bryon shares what he knows. That the legends say a darkness overtook the dragon knights, leading one of their own to turn on and kill off the rest. No one knows where the darkness came from, but researches indicate it may have something to do with ancient temple built on an island that very few people know about. Bryon points hiccup and aria to a port town and tells them to seek out the pirate king since he would know the islands location and how to travel there.

I'll confess I didn't put a ton of work I to the pirate king section. I always had this idea of this kind of slacker teen being the king but suffering from a curse that makes him terrified of the ocean and so hiccup an aria would have to break him from this curse. Which I toyed with the idea of having the kids father being jealous of his son and so the curse is a result of that jealousy. But again I never put a ton of detailed thought into it

After aiding the pirate king he shows the two the location of the island and explains that supposedly long ago there was a civilization that lived on the island who worshiped a strange power. For a time the civilization was peaceful but overtime became paranoid and hostile to outsiders; eventually closing their borders and driving away all outsiders before turning on each other and killing one another.

Returning to Lord bryon hiccup and aria summon Clotho and the 4 of them Start to plan what will happen next when word reaches them of trouble from hiccups village which is apparently under attack by unknown forces.

Returning home hiccup finds his village under attack from an army of the undead who continually attack the village come nightfall and who retreat during the daylight.

Again I never put a ton of detail thought into this part. It was mostly a way to show how others would react to an older and more powerful hiccup. It's revealed that the army's general is the dark spirit possessing Astrid who reveals itself to be the spirit on Gonzath a former lich that once served the darkness.

Hiccup and aria do battle with the lich but are unable to defeat it until Clotho uses a bit of the old magic to split the lich and atsrid apart. Now devoid of a flesh and blood soul aria is able to use her connection to the veil to drag the lich's soul back to it's afterlife.

Astrid and hiccup make up for all their past issues and hiccup explains to his village what is happening.

Using the pirate kings fleet of ships the group assembles an army of Lord bryons forces, clotho's daughters, vikings and freed dragons to assault the darkness on the island.

The night before the battle however hiccup is pulled into the veil by the cursed lord pride who tells him his crusade is doomed to fail without a final item. Pride reveals that when the universe was made each cursed lord was give a fragment of creation, a single shard of raw unlimited potential that they could use as they saw fit, to bring about any effect or outcome they desired but only once and only for a single moment. The other lords had used theirs but pride being both a curse and a sin never used his. He gifts the shard to hiccup but asks that in exchsnge the darkness not be killed, but instead imprisoned within the veil.

Not having a choice hiccup agrees to this and awakens with the shard around his neck.

The fleet reaches the island and the army begins their assault of the ancient city with is defended by multiple liches as well as armies of shattered sisters, drauger and dragons.

Fighting their way through the city hiccup and aria learn that the city was once a shining metropolis but became corrupted when they began to dabble in rituals that resembled the dragon knights initiation rituals. Slowly it's revealed that the civilization was jealous of the dragon knights and sought to claim their power for themselves but in so doing twisted and corrupted that power into the darkness.

During the battles aria is injured leaving hiccup to confront and fight her brother alone. Aria's brother explains that he hated the dragon knights for what they did. That they were to be guardians of the peace and protectors of the world but that what that really meant was a lifetime of pain and suffering for it's members. Using the shard pride had given him hiccup creates a split in reality and changed things so that the dragon knights sole purpose is not to protect the world but to protect those they love and cherish. (Or some such after school special stereotypical nonsense)

This split frees Aria's brother from the darkness's control and allows the two of them to battle the darkness though it still overwhelms them.

The darkness reveals itself to be a cosmic force, incapable of being defeated as it is the counterpart to all that is good and right in the cosmos. It explains that it cannot be defeated because the universe must maintain a balance and that for as good and righteous as hiccup is, that's how evil and twisted the darkness is.

And that's about as far as my planning got before I pretty much dropped the story from my mind.

I never really figured out a true ending. I have no idea who wins or how they do it, I'm sorry to say.
I remember toying with an idea where hiccup would have to dye, in order to take the darkness with him. I remember an idea i had about hiccup somehow summoning the cursed lords and triking them into doing battle with the darkness, but i never really set anything in stone; so to speak.

I suppose that leaves the ending open for any and all of you to come up with on your own.

It still amazes me how many people enjoy this story and how many people still message me about it to this day. And I'll admit I'm surprised at how many details I can still remember despite never having written them down. Some scenes are so vivid in my mind, it's like I could hire someone to draw them.

In the end I hope reading this helps bring some of you a sense of closure. I know it has brought me some.
