This is kinda new for me, so if it sucks, please tell me. ..well, anyway... enjoy!
He loves me, He loves me not
A red-haired teen sat on the edge of a fountain in the middle of a small park. He had delicate features and a soft, solemn smile. Though satisfied with sitting, daydreaming, occasionally a tumble with some demon nuisance, he could never get it out of his mind that he was alone, no one in the world to understand his thoughts and feelings. As he thought, a single flower petal from his fingers floated softly to the ground.
He loves me not.
He felt a presence enter the park and start towards him, but he didn't take interest. He thought about the man he desired. Does he feel the same way? Am I crazy to think such a thing? Then he thought of the day he first realized his feelings for him. He thought of the beautiful, understanding eyes he had once thought to be cold and heartless. He thought of the soft, caring smile the boy had flashed him, before turning back to Yusuke's fight. Another petal dropped and he smiled at the childish game he was playing.
He loves me.
The presence drew nearer and the fox-demon began to recognize it.
"Hiei?" he called softly.
A shadow stirred in the darkness and a figure came forth. It walked towards the fountain and the boy on it.
"Kurama, care if I join you?" the deep mysterious voice echoed through Kurama's mind, making his heart beat faster.
He motioned for Hiei to sit and he followed. They sat in silence for what seemed an eternity, just staring at the stars above their heads. Kurama, gathering up the courage, tore his eyes from the sky and looked at his loves delicate face.
"Hiei..?" he waited for a response. Hiei kept his head up, but Kurama could tell he was listening. "Is… is it crazy for me to think… that maybe you and I… could be… something closer than fighting partners? Closer than friends, even..?"
Hiei looked at Kurama, eyes icy, the way they used to be. Kurama's heart lurched. He regretted asking the question. It could only turn out bad. He remembered his flower and dropped another petal, this one falling to the waters surface.
He loves me not.
"You mean love? Is there love between us?"
Kurama, fixed on those cold eyes, found it hard to speak. His heart pounded more so than he had ever imagined.
"Yes…love…" he choked out, suddenly breathless.
"Love." Hiei repeated, seeming to turn the word over in his mind, study it. "Fool…"
Kurama's heart sunk, deep, deeper, and deeper yet. "But… I just-"
Hiei moved closer to Kurama, embracing his shivering body.
"My fool…"
"H-Hiei…" Kurama put his arms around Hiei, feeling his warmth, his love, seep into his cold, tired body. He breathed in his lovers scent, and dropped the last petal.
He loves me. How could I have
ever doubted?
